As someone who has tried out TONS of gyms in the Grand Rapids area, believe me when I say that TLD is hands down the best.
As someone who had never been serious about lifting weights before, I thought walking into a gym like this would be super intimidating—but it wasn’t. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful, from the coaches to the other people working out.
What I really appreciate is how organized the workouts are. You can tell there’s a plan behind everything—nothing feels random or thrown together. The exercises actually make sense and build on each other. Plus, the coaches genuinely care about your form. They’ll correct you in a way that’s helpful (not embarrassing), so you’re not just avoiding injury—you’re actually getting stronger the right way.
If you're on the fence, just go. 10/10 would recommend.

Great gym! I’m an experienced weight lifter so I typically do not sign up for fitness classes because most classes don’t track weights and reps, classes, are usually full of junk volume, and I have enough experience to design my own workouts. But here, the coaches stick to tried and true fundamental lifts and track weights and reps.
This is a great gym for people of any fitness level, especially if you’re like me and don’t have the time to design and track workouts.

This gym is a gem! I was diagnosed with ADHD at 37 years old one year ago. Exercise is one thing that keeps me focused but particularly this style of workout. The set up is basically 4 mini but intense workouts in one, a warm up, lift of the day, accessory movements and a finisher. This works perfectly for my brain that gets bored so easily. I don’t have time to think just push through and the time truly flies by. The gym is full of positivity, anything can be modified to fit your level or accommodate injury. The classes are intentionally small for 1:1 coaching if you need it. This gym is the perfect fit if you want variety a hard workout without any judgement on your performance etc. I’m so glad this gym exists in GR and my neighborhood. They’re expanding too so get ready downtown!

This community and gym are magical. I’ve never felt so seen or supported on my fitness journey. Coach Jalen is my inspiration, she teaches with such confidence, patience and dedication to helping others learn how to workout effectively and safely. I’ve been at TLD fitness for close to a year and I would have never thought I could be as strong or confident as I am now. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
I would recommend this gym no matter your skillset/experience or goals. If you are working on gaining strength, losing weight, maintaining or just want to remain mobile, there is a spot for you. I should also mention that TLD has the resources to support injuries.
The facilities are always clean, well organized and there is plenty of free parking around the building.
The owner and coaches put a lot of thought into their class structure. You are never fighting for weights or space to complete your workout. One of my favorite things about the gym is their consistency. I have been a member of a few gyms that offer group classes and the type of workout you receive is dependent on what time you go and the coach. At TLD, while the classes change daily, the workout for that day is the same. So if you go in the morning or evening you will receive the same workout. Also, even though their services are already exemplary, TLD is always looking for ways to improve and asks for feedback from its members.
And last by certainty not least are the people. Being a bit of an introvert, I am still surprised by how welcoming & supportive not only the coaches are but the other members. I have found a home that I never knew I needed.

Loading Dock... Oh Yeah! I Absolutely Love it. I've been to a lot of gyms over the years, I can say that the Loading Dock as a great concept for overall body workout. I like that they offer strength training classes specifically for 50 and over, (and it's really a great class, they really do focus on building strength and endurance for us "Seasoned" fitness enthusiast. Jalen is "Awesome" she makes you do the work, but she has such a positive uplifting and encouraging spirit (so she's really pushing you, but you don't know because of her personable attitude). I feel like "NO" when I start, but once I get into it, and how I feel afterwards is a reward within itself. To sum it all up. If you're looking for a place where you can come as you are, no judgement, and looking for a real fitness place that meets you were you're at and encourages you to get to where you want to be look no further. I'm glad I found them. You won't be disappointed I promise :-)

Very good place to start a workout journey all the staff are friendly as well as the other people in the group sessions you don't feel judged at all when working out and everyone pushes each other to keep getting at it. The only complaint for me personally is just the price I can't afford it. But i still give 5 stars because overall this place is amazing and glad I've worked out here. Hopefully going to go back soon.

This place is the best. It doesn't feel like your under pressure to keep up, just do your best. The classes have a more intimate feel with a coach helping you along the way. Everyone is friendly and there is always some wiggle room for a busy schedule. I love the fact that they make an effort to know you and offer time in between to catch your breath. The coaches and the workouts are really amazing. The small format classes allow for more time with the coaches, and that has helped me hit fitness goals I never thought would be possible in my 20s, let alone my mid 30s. Since college I've always tried to stay in shape. I've gone to a bunch of different gyms and have tried large format classes and I've always felt like I've hit a plateau fairly quickly. The Loading Dock has changed that for me and I can confidently say I'm in the best shape of my life.

I made the mistake of paying for a membership before being able to tour the facility. I believe that was done on purpose. I was immediately taken to an office and sold a membership. There isn't anything in the gym. It's basically an empty building. You would be better off talking $200 to a garage sale and making a better gym in your basement. I called to cancel my membership for the next month, and was still charged $200 for nothing. It's more of a cult than a gym. They also sold my info to some quack chiropractor that keeps emailing and texting me about pain management. Good place to if you're lonely, but they'll rip you off. Take a tour before you give them your card, you won't join and they know that.

After an out-of-state move to Grand Rapids (and a hiatus from working out), the Loading Dock gym got me back into a routine and loving exercise again! I originally joined the 6-week semi-private training with Jalen and couldn’t have asked for a more caring & understanding trainer to show me the ropes of weight lifting and strength training. She got me hooked and I knew I had to keep going; I chose to extend to the unlimited membership option as it was the best value for me to continue toward my fitness goals. I regularly attended 6:30 am classes with Ashley, who was always super motivating to get moving in the early mornings (and accommodating to my injuries!). From my first day in regular class, she took the time to learn about me and made me feel at ease as I learned new techniques and methods my body was new to. I genuinely felt excited about waking up early to work out with her. Most importantly, the entire staff and client community at the gym is incredibly welcoming to newcomers and the environment truly feels like a second home. Unfortunately I’m currently off membership recovering from an injury, but I look forward to one day going back to the Loading Dock gym as a regular member.

Keep in mind this is my only opinion but when I walked in the gym was great it looks like they have a lot of possibilities of things that you can work on. The guys that run the quick course which is about 4 months roughly $20 a week and you just follow a food app these guys just keep you accountable basically. However they don't follow the program as they both could use the program. I'm not trying to be mean it just seems like they would have someone fit run the classes. This is only my opinion they did nothing wrong they were nice to talk to.

Just joined the Loading Dock for a new program they were doing that I saw an add for and so far I am enjoying it! The trainers have such a great attitude and are very motivating during sessions. Great work outs during the week and they are very flexible working with the members schedules. I enjoy that it's a smaller gym (can have up to 30 people per class) because larger gyms intimidate me. I feel like this gives the trainers more time to connect with members and I feel more seen and focused on! So far I'm loving it! Thank you!

I have been a pretty constant member for a little over 2 years. This gym has only changed my life for the better in that time. The workouts are challenging, but the coaches always make sure the movements meet you where you are at personally. Weather this is your first time going to a gym or you are an elite athlete, you will be graciously welcomed and encouraged to push your limits. The community of members is also something to talk about, they are awesome. Everyone is always respectful, encouraging, and supportive of one another. Overall this is a great place to get a workout in while making friends at the same time.

I am a runner who was really burnt out by miles and in a rut. I'd wanted to try a strength and conditioning gym for a while but was always kind of intimidated... this gym is the opposite of intimidating! I initially signed up for the program as an early birthday present for myself late November, early December. Fast forward to the middle January and I am now officially a member!(: At first, I dreaded working out since it had been years since I’ve done any exercise but the trainers and coaches (AND THE MEMBERS!) at The Loading Dock are nothing but supportive and encouraging that it makes the workout super fun— not to mention knowledgable! They’ll do anything they can to take into account any previous injuries you may have had and find work arounds to ensure both safety and any injury prevention. I genuinely look forward into working out at The Loading Dock in the mornings— it’s definitely apart of my daily routine!!!(: Sososososo thankful for everyone there and everything they do!(:

Jalen is an AMAZING personal trainer. She took time to understand my injuries and built a program for me that worked around them. This helped me avoid further injury, build strength, endurance and flexibility, and gave me confidence in my form (making sure I did movements correctly to avoid future injuries). She is energetic, encouraging, tough, smart, and I can't recommend her highly enough! :)

I did the 6 weeks program with Jalen Schoenborn. She is the best, I was very weak at the beggining, I have not done any excercise in almost 20 years I have an injury in my left anckle and left knee. Jalen was patient with me, would explain everything as many time as it was necesary for me, would adjust the movements to my needs and she is very motivational, she is a very beatiful soul. I lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I worked out here through a SweatNet event and it was awesome! I love a good HIIT/circuit workout and the team here KILLED it! The workouts were challenging, the instructors communicated the exercises clearly, and it was a well kept space! You can tell the team here works hard!

If you are in search of a gym that can help you be consistent, intentional, reach your fitness goals, and provide you with a welcoming and encouraging environment, then you need to go to The Loading Dock gym (first class is free too so why not?!). I have never felt so passionate about a gym and my fitness before, and it all comes down to the atmosphere and the two men behind it all. Zach and Ryan (the founders/owners), demonstrate their passion and love for their gym and most importantly, their members, and it shows every time you step through the doors. No matter where you are on your fitness journey you belong at this gym. Ryan (the trainer) meets you where you are at and will provide you with ways to tailor the workout that suits you best while providing you with the encouragement and the push you need. Best new up and coming gym in GR and West Michigan. Stellar people, stellar workouts, and a bunch of sweat. What more could you ask for. The space is big, but small enough to be personable. Love it when they pop open the "loading dock" gym doors. Zach and Ryan are cool dudes, and even gave me some complimentary gear from their LOPE clothing brand.

The Loading Dock Gym has the best members and we are all like family! It’s the most encouraging and safe atmosphere. Everyone is striving to be the best that they can be. What I appreciate about this gym is that they focus more about your relationship with health and fitness more than the calories you burn during class or pounds lost. The Loading Dock is the BEST! I go once per week to their sweat classes and I always leave feeling refreshed, energized + ready for my day (despite the face that I am not a morning person!!).
