I found Tye Chua dance for Adults this summer, and truly found one of the most welcoming groups in Kalamazoo! Angi, Amii, and Gene create such a wonderful spot for growing your body, learning ballet for the first time, getting back into dance as an adult, and fostering new dancers. Their professional track/focused dancers were stellar in the Nutcracker this year, and I can only imagine what great training they receive for their future in dance.

My daughter has been attending class here 3 years now and I have nothing but great things to say about Tye Chua! They are great at teaching and paying attention to the kids needs. They don't rush to get kids into pointe, they truly make sure they are ready mentally and physically. Prices are good, location is good, instructors are good; highly recommended for all ages (even classes for adults)!

Tye Chua is the place to go if you want ballet training that will progress you towards a professional career in the dance field. Tye chua dances studios are gorgeous. Being inside Kalamazoos oldest public building, the dance studios have so much character. The beautiful sun shines through the stainglass windows, and beautiful wood work and other details that just make the place feel like a ballet movie! The Chua teachers are very educated in the dance world of work, etiquette, and technique. As an older dances who has questions for where to find auditions the teachers at Tye Chua always have recommendations.

Tye Chua dance is such a welcoming space for all. I am so grateful I found them this year. After a decade not dancing, I’ve rekindled my love for it thanks to their wonderful instruction. I can’t say enough about the care the instructors invest in the studio and surrounding community, not to mention a family-friendly environment. They have encouraged me to have my 3-year-d son join class if I don’t have a babysitter, and consequently, he has now started asking if he can go to ballet! Thank you, thank you!!

This studio is truly a gem. There is truly a place for everybody and every BODY. They take the time to teach in a kind and gentle manner. They are so supportive of everyone. The students are the same way. There is no competition with each other. The support and encouragement from everyone is amazing. They also teach the process of creating works of art from a young age. They encourage you to try new things in a way so that students are not afraid to not be perfect right away. This is the exact environment that I want my kids to learn in. Even if they don't ever choose to have professional careers in dance, the skills that they are learning here will carry them through in so many different aspects of their lives. This place is truly the best!

Tye Chua provides quality ballet instruction in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo. Whether you are trying to decide whether to take your first ballet class as an adult (do it!), or trying to decide where to enroll your child in classes, I would recommend this studio.

I had gotten really serious about dance through high school and attended a pre-professional school, but had taken (too) many years off to pursue my career in the sciences. I now attend the adult ballet classes at Tye Chua and am enjoying my return to dance at this art- and community-focused dance studio. If you are a parent new to dance, I would recommend considering a non-competition studio such as Tye Chua, mainly because such training focuses on technical discipline and artistic expression. Tye Chua maintains a costume department, so there will be no need for paying extra money for costumes that only get used once. When I first started dance as a teenager, paying for costumes was a struggle for my parents at times, so not having to do so is a big bonus.

Aside from the quality instruction and supportive community, I should also mention that classes are held in studios with beautiful stained-glass windows!

I love Tye Chua Dance! I am a beginning adult and have found a real love of ballet at Tye Chua in the last few years. Tye Chua not only offers excellent instruction for every age and level of dancer, they intentionally foster a sense of inclusiveness and community that is rare and extraordinary.
