Beware as I am currently being harassed by this location. Stating that I owe them money. When in fact I physically went in and cancelled both my membership and Pilates class fees. They are trying to state that all of a sudden I need to have something in writing though that has never been the case before and when I asked others who were also members at one point they said they did the same thing, by simply going into the location and canceling . Also if I did not in fact cancel my membership you would have charged me. I will also write a complaint to BBB and home office

The staff here are very friendly and polite, however I spoke to Jay and Chuck who are both leaders in this building and are unbelievably unprofessional. Not only were they rude to me on the phone but we're also disrespectful. I would not go here ever again, I have actually canceled my membership months ago because of their actions and they still are keeping a charge on my account.... Now I have to go through customer service. THANKS YMCA YOU CERTAINLY ARE BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY AREN'T YOU...

What is the point of a costly family membership if alot of the activities and facilities are closed down/at capacity majority of the time? Basically if you aren't enrolled in a sport or swim class you won't be able to utilize anything besides the workout area. Was hoping for much more considering the cost. Will be canceling my membership tomorrow.

This YMCA is a bit small as it shares the building with Andover Community Center. The photos on a lot of these reviews are misleading. This YMCA has 1 full court, a pool, sauna, hot tub, and standard fitness gym. It also has a kids gym and childcare which I have not used.

The large basketball court, hockey, and additional ice ranks are NOT part of the YMCA. There is an additional entrance fee as it belongs to the community center.

Overall, it was not busy, staff was friendly, and place was clean. Would recommend and would revisit.

The life guards lack awareness!!! They do not care about kids jumping in on people.
Other members lack the ability to get after their our children!!!
Every SINGLE time have gone I have ALWAYS been told that me and my friends are required to share a swim lane when there are times with others open....... Ok fine..... But then I have other people crawling into our lane. Today I was hit in the head by a adult man who decided to force himself into the lane that I was already sharing with my wife. He did not apologize or even stop to ask if I was ok.

YOUR LIFEGUARDS SUCK!!!!!
YOUR POOL SCHEDULE SUCKS!!!!
THE PEOPLE USING IT MOST THE TIME SUCK!

I started a membership here after using my residence passes and I've been extremely disappointed on weekends. Swimming laps is impossible when adults bring their group of kids over to jump into the deep end and do not look where they are jumping. I've been kicked by kids while the parents and lifeguards look the other way and there is absolutely zero policing of bad behavior. The signs will be up for "laps only" and it is not enforced in the slightest. Someone is going to get hurt with the way kids are allowed to run screaming and jumping onto people. I literally watched a man bring a string of kids to jump into the lap lanes where people were swimming with no regard to the other people already there, and the lifeguards did nothing. Very disappointed. Also, whey are there kids in diapers swimming???? Especially in the lap pool! Ewwwewww

More friendly to little kids than paying adult members! I wish the lifeguards would actually be more strict about the lap.pool instead of letting little kids use it as a jumping and play zone. I like to swim there but it's a spendy membership when 2 days a week the pool is unusable because of children being allowed to virtually jump on your head if you are swimming laps. (Weekend days)

We have been members for a long time with a hiatus during COVID. While I enjoy the Y and LOVE the water classes I definitely have issues with the fitness center area and locker rooms. I know every business these days is short handed but a better job has to be done of monitoring children upstairs!!! It's ridiculous when they are running from machine to machine, no parents, wearing boots or crocs and there are paying members looking for a machine!! Also could we put up a sign by the E GYM that let's people know THEY MUST GO THROUGH AN ORIENTATION AND HAVE A WRIST BAND to use them. To many issues!!! The phone usage in the locker rooms, men constantly walking in and then announcing, whoops, wrong room, people using the swimsuit drying machine as their own personal clothes dryer. Some how we need to improve on somethings so the YMCA can continue to be a family friendly place.

My son played soccer through this location and after a terrible experience with a coach yelling and swearing at the kids during a game, we decided to pull our son from the program. I reached out to those in charge and I was told a refund would be possible due to the toxic environment that was occurring. Several weeks and several attempts to reach out have now gone unanswered without a refund. I’m so disappointed in the YMCA.

I was so excited to start swim lessons for my little one. We signed up as non-members in the winter but I was sure that by the last swim lesson we would join. We didn’t. It’s hard to understand why the front desk would be staffed with such an unfriendly staff. I worked at the front desk of a YMCA for years- I loved it and loved providing good customer service. They do not. One woman spoke down to me and my child so harshly that I wanted to cry- all for a misunderstanding about how you pay for a towel. A towel, which I 100% knew had a cost.

Besides the unwelcoming staff that greets you every day, I was really thrown off by the family locker room. I understand that it’s technically labeled β€œfamily/individual” locker room, but besides the other parents and young children in the locker room there were always random men who were not there with children. Every time I went in the family locker room I saw yet another man walking around completely naked. I told my husband and he didn’t believe me. Then he came once and saw it for himself. If you want parents and children to feel uncomfortable that’s how to do it. The protective mama bear in me was furious, and although we could just go to the women’s locker room, I have a son and at some point the family locker room would be more appropriate anyways. I tried to clarify with the front desk that it’s a family changing room, and they showed me it’s labeled β€œfamily/individual.” Just such a horrible experience overall.

Very clean locker rooms and gym area. The facilities are very nice. Only gave three stars because I witnessed an interaction of a front desk worker, M. Not sure why she still works there with that attitude.

I like the kids leisure pool, there is a huge area that my 3 year old can walk in and it's not too deep. There are also two slides in the leisure area, one really small one and one that's medium sized. My 3 year old is getting more confidence (doesn't like going underwater but can handle getting face wet) and he can do the medium slide by himself. There are 2 large slides but we've never been here when it is open.

I also love the Kids Stuff room. They have a huge room for the kids to play in, plus a playground outside they go to on nice days, PLUS an indoor 'playspace' playground. It's not huge but it is two stories and my kids often come out tired from running around and playing.

There is a subway inside the community center closer to the hockey arena so that's a bonus if you want to stay for awhile!

I absolutely love coming here. There’s so much to do and it’s safe enough that me and my friends can walk around by ourselves. The changes they made to the interior are fancy and awesome, but I’m not sure they were necessary(gives me bank vibes) the only other thing I have to say is it would be nice if parents did a better job of potty training their kids. I get that things happen but when there have been 50 incidents of people peeing or pooping or puking in the pool in the five years I’ve gone year, it’s kind of ridiculous. I’m also a bit of a germaphobe so although I still go in the pool, it kind of grosses me out.

So, since Covid my experience has changed. I understand that they have to follow guidelines and etc. I still pay the same price since pre-Covid though. I have to reserve a time to bring my kids to swim, they cannot use the slides, the sauna is not open, and they want me to run on a treadmill in a mask...so that means I cannot use the treadmills anymore. I feel that the YMCA's management team ( or who ever is in charge of this) should reduce the amount we pay.

The customer service is always excellent! Do the whole covid situation some things aren't open but everyone there is willing to work with you and get you the best experience you can possibly get. When everything opens up again this is the best gym in the entire city let alone the neighboring cities. Great customer service like I said, the staff is always friendly and they always have different promotions going on. It's a little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for.

Just a great place whether you have kids or not. The gym area is great the equipment is good matter of fact they just added some new equipment not long ago. The free weight area is a little small in my opinion I find myself having to wait for other people to get off the equipment so I can start my workout. You're trying to stay warmed up through your workouts going from one set of equipment to another and you find yourself waiting to get on a piece of equipment. For me that ruins the whole workout I don't want to warm up and cool down that's not working out!

Don't want to give this many stars because i'm kinda frustrated right now but the people are nice here. My problem is with the swimming lessons.

They do have a great grant plan to help those that can't afford such sky high prices for the swim lessons for their kids. The problem, if your schedule isn't 100% open to the "bottom of the barrel" time selection they have left over or you have more than 1 kid (even 2) there is no spot.

To summarize: great grant plan that you... can't really use.

The activities at the Andover site are great. But the temperature of the lap pool is only at usually 72 degrees. It is not considered by Mayo clinic and 2 of my questioned specialists to be recommended for elderly. All the elderly should be doing swimming, & exercise in the 82+ range. During our time as seniors there is maybe 1 or 2 lap swimmers. Exercises are 35+ people . Something is not being balanced . How much does our silver membership contribute compared to a few lap swimmers?
