0 STARS — Misleading and Unethical Business Practices
I’m extremely disappointed with Anytime Fitness in La Crescent, MN. I signed up because they were advertising a “$1 sign-up deal for new members” all I had to do was write down 10 contacts and pay $1 to join. The girl who signed me up made it sound like it was just a regular monthly membership, no mention of a contract or cancellation restrictions.
Fast forward, due to financial hardship, loss of job, and two small kids to care for, I can’t afford this membership anymore. When I tried to cancel, I was told I can’t unless I’m moving, become disabled, or pay $200 to break a contract I was never told I was signing!
I feel completely misled. No other gym I’ve ever joined has done anything like this, they were upfront and fair. But Anytime Fitness didn’t explain the “fine print” and now they want to come after money I simply do not have, possibly sending it to collections and hurting my credit even more during an already hard time.
It’s shameful for a business to trap people into contracts they never knew about, especially when families are struggling. I will never recommend Anytime Fitness to anyone and I strongly urge others to read every bit of paperwork because they clearly don’t tell you what you’re really agreeing to also I did not receive my copy of an agreement when I signed up until after I asked to cancel.
Do better, Anytime Fitness. Be honest and transparent with your community.

I paid the cancellation fee after relocation, I even provided a lease- my place is 70 miles from an Anytime fitness. They’re still hounding me for money, asking me to pay the cancellation fee AGAIN. To make matters worse I have a rotator cuff injury and am out of work for the time being. Completely unacceptable- go to unity fitness instead, they aren’t scumbags.

The gym is fine. It has everything I need, even though it's small. Unfortunately, there is no staff there early in the morning so if I ever need anything I have to slip a note under the office door or call. It's also often not super clean. I don't think anybody dusts ever! But the bathrooms are clean which is important. The people that work out there in the morning are also very nice and friendly. It's a fun place to see people and chat while you're working out.

This place won’t stop calling me damn near every day saying “one of my friends joined and left me $100 in credit” and that they’re penciling me in for tonight to come visit. The same speech. Word for word. Every day. They have called me probably 15-20 times within 3 weeks. I will never join this place simply because they can’t get a hint.

I think it’s a great place to workout.. open 24/7/365 makes it super convenient, right in the middle of La Crescent..the staff are always friendly and the place is spotless(super clean)..plenty of equipment that is always in working condition, clean and maintained.

I joined this Anytime Fitness location about a year ago and I have no regrets. The facility is great, very clean, with new equipment and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The location is really convenient. Great gym!
