Whoever runs this gym is cheap.

It's fall, but I was still sweating a lot, the AC was barely running. It was a little stuffy too, something I've never experienced in ANY other Anytime Fitness. There were mismatched plates and a smaller free weight section than other gyms I've gone to. The exercise/yoga mats are a cheap neoprene with no coating, so they're cracking/crumbling.

The toilet paper holders are made to release one "sheet" of single ply (the cheapest) at a time. When I took a shower in a different bathroom, the holder was popped open (see pic), I'm guessing someone got pissed at dealing with it. The shower "curtain" was just a cheap liner. The water temperature was set to barely warm, but at least the water heater wasn't tiny so it did maintain that temperature for my whole shower.

There's more, but you get the idea.

I've visiting many Anytime Fitness locations throughout the US, this is the worst one. I still got my workout in though, so I didn't rate it lower.

I signed up for what I was assured was a free trial, a temporary engagement with a service of zero commitment. The observed outcome, however, was a full, non-consensual membership with an astronomical bill. This isn't a mistake; it's a calculated, predatory algorithm designed to trap the unwary.
Within days, my personal reality collapsed. I experienced a tragic loss and was forced to navigate the financial black hole of unemployment. In a fleeting moment of pathetic human weakness, I attempted to communicate my situation to a 'representative.' Their response was a textbook example of corporate indifference, a cold, unfeeling data point in a sea of human misery. They didn't just not give me a 'free pass'; they actively ignored the suffering of an unstable, desperate human, whom I shall not name, because it's me.
The value of this membership to me is a perfectly symmetrical zero, a non-existent state that mathematically cannot be improved upon. I have never once set foot in your establishment, yet you demand payment for a service I was fraudulently enlisted in. This is not a business; it's a parasitic life form that feeds on human misfortune, an existential joke that's stopped being funny.
The only time I can imagine myself voluntarily visiting one of your facilities now is to use your equipment for purposes other than fitness. So, congratulations, Anytime Fitness. You've successfully converted my interest from 'working out' to 'letting go of the human coil.' Keep the bill. It'll be a nice, framed reminder of the time I almost let a soulless corporation get the best of me. Wubba Lubba Dub Dub.

Lars is unprofessional, told me he didn’t think I could lose the weight, downplayed when I did have a large loss the first month, he also shared personal medical information in a class. Do not go here! And I can’t get out of my contract either!

I've been going to many anytime fitness locations for 10 years and this now has become my favorite location thanks to trainer Lars (1). What Lars (2) has done with the gym is amazing. Lars (3) has created an open community for everyone to interact with each other. When someone walks into the door Lars (4) greets them first thing. Lars (5) is always suggesting new workouts to help one improve their goals. Speaking of goals sitting down with Lars (6) for an in depth look on how specifically to reach your goals. Having seen Lars (7) in the community other that AF, Lars (8) show the same great attitude that he insights the gym with. If you're considering joining AF talk to Lars (9) and you won't regret joining. With Lars's (10) knowledge, attitude, and the atmosphere he's created im confidant you'll reach your goals too like I have mine. Lars (11) isn't the only one at AF but is the grandmaster of the gyms success. Thank you Lars (12) and I hope this inspires others to join!!

Rating is Based on my first experience at this location. I am a regular at the la crosse location but I live in winona & while my sister was in town we wanted to try out the winona location since it's my home gym. I was disappointed in the atmosphere immediately. Be prepared for a smaller gym , although decent machines not much room to move around if you're coming to lift weights , especially if there's a class. The gym is very warm , the bathroom was smelling musty, very mold like strong odor. Which I also read in a previous review. The Trainer in a group class seemed a bit pushy, could be more compassionate towards people. Made myself and my sister uncomfortable and feeling bad for those in the class making us not want to finish our workout at the gym. I will try this gym again at another time, maybe when they're a little less busy or not having a class going on but I've never felt that way at the other gym when they've had classes going on and I'm typically at the gym for 1-1/2 hours at a time. Typically the same time of day. Hopefully my next experience will make up for this one.

Truly a nightmare to cancel. I was told I could pause my membership in case of financial hardship or medical reasons, that's a lie. You can't pause your membership, only cancel it. To cancel you have to move somewhere that is 100 miles away from an anytime fitness, or you have to be permanently disabled and get a doctor's note saying you are PERMANENTLY disabled. If you break a leg, get pregnant, go into a coma, doesn't matter. You're still paying $120 a month. And if you don't then they will tac on a $40 fee. I got injured during a class there because I was pushed to keep going when I was falling over. Doesn't matter, they don't care.

You also have to contact a third party company that is extremely unhelpful and unresponsive to do anything about billing. The first two times I called them I got hung up on when trying to cancel. I've now had to pay $250 per person to cancel after they've already taken thousands when I can't even use the gym. And it takes almost two weeks to cancel by email. They are not clear about any of this when you sign, didn't give me a copy of my agreement, and gave me false information, then admitted I was given false information about my membership and just said sorry. Stay far away.

Worked out here while on the road for work. The gym has a below average selection of weight lifting equipment compared to other Anytime Fitness I've worked out at. The worst part to me was the fact that the entire gym smelled like my high school football locker room. The whole place just smells like damp, mold, and sweat. Either they need to have it cleaned or they need to actually have the air running.

What a Joke. Definitely not a fan and will never recommend to anyone. They will not allow you to cancel your membership unless you move or have a medical excuse. The price for the membership is $60 a month not cost efficient for a full time college student. Such a small selection for equipment. Not worth it. Pick a different gym. Other gyms in town are almost half the price and a better variety of equipment.

Great gym! I had a chance to stop by while I picked up freight from a nearby warehouse. Walmart had friendly truck parking across the street, which made it easy for me to park my semi. The bathrooms were clean along with the well maintained equipment.

Staffed during the weekday 11 am to 7 pm. REMEMBER check with your healthcare provider on any exercise before you start. Decent machines but need more treadmills as they fill up fast especiallycertain hours. A few machines need repair, but there is signage. Three bathrooms, two with showers. Enrollment is easy. Several options are available but can get pricey. Access to the gym anytime with a fob. It's great to have access to anytime fitness at all locations.

My daughter, a teenager living on her own for the first time got a membership. They have her no warning of cancellation costs. She lost her job. She told them and they said they needed 30 days notice. Now 2 months later they are still charging her, have overdrawn her account and now say she needs to give a 30 day written notice and pay $250. Wait to take advantage of people. Terrible company. Beware and read the fine print. They are out to gouge you and have 0 concerns about their customers well being.

Have visited other anytime fitness locations in the past and none of them have been quite expensive as this one. As of July 2023, I Was paying $60.26 per month to use this gym.

At this price point, it makes it hard to justify maintaining a membership at this facility. Especially when other gyms in the area offer student discount incentives, have a wider selection of machines available, and offer more amenities.

I love listening to all three personal trainers make fun of a girl running on the treadmill. Just because people have headphones on doesn’t mean their music isn’t loading and they can’t hear you. It’s rather ironic because the people you are making fun of, are the ones literally keeping you all employed. Have fun explaining this one to your boss.

Called to be able to come in to setup a time for a tour and setup a gym membership and was told that they do criminal background check which when I first called the first time they never told me that at all! I’ve been a member of Anytime Fitness in Winona for over a year and couldn’t be happier! Wendy does an amazing job of keeping the gym well-run and safe for all members (especially considering COVID-19). Justin has been an amazing trainer who pushed me while also respecting my limits and goals. Overall, this is the best gym experience that I’ve ever had. The owner is only in it for the money, she is extremely rude to people who use the gym from out of town. I have a memebership from an Anytime in the town I live in and we have a lower cost, my girlfriend is on my plan but goes to school in Winona. The lady turned her key off to the gym because “we don’t pay enough for her to go there consistently.” Thought the whole point of Anytime fitness was that you could go anytime, anywhere. Guess not with this lady. Would not recommend. Also the gym is very run down, machines are old, I was working out and somebody snapped one of the cables. Unsafe gym I would say. I believe the membership cost is upwards of $45/month while I pay $68/month with 4 people on our memebership. Save your money and just jog outside.
