Balance for Life Fitness Center® in Arden Hills is a boutique fitness and wellness studio established in 2000, offering personalized Pilates studio, yoga studio, massage therapist, fitness center, and training center services. Our certified personal trainers and yoga instructors create custom fitness programs from Pilates and small group yoga to massage therapy and lymph drainage. We specialize in women’s personal training and physical fitness programs designed to support every age and ability in a welcoming, non-intimidating space with no monthly memberships. Serving Arden Hills, Shoreview, Roseville, Vadnais Heights, North Oaks, Little Canada, and the greater St Paul metro, we help you achieve lasting health, strength, and confidence.

Great gym with a variety of services. Group classes and personal training sessions are outstanding. Instructors are friendly and fun, and they offer plenty of ways to level up for a challenge or to take it easy on an injury. Massages are an amazing value as well. Highly recommend!

I started visiting Balance for Life Fitness Center back in April of 2013. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. The variety of classes they provide including Yoga, Reformer, Pilates, Tai Chi and back strengthening courses gave me the flexibility to work out when I wanted to and to focus on what I was needing. I also do one-on-one training with a fitness instructor to help motivate me even more and the results are great. The instructors are all so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable in their areas. I can also highly recommend the massage therapy they have available. I am sure all the therapists are excellent but I can tell you that Amanda could always get rid of my knots and she does an incredible massage. This place I could not recommend more highly. It is small enough to be make it personable when you go in and they know your name and say "Hi". It is big enough that you will find what you specifically are needing for exercise or strengthening. To me every week the staff makes it feel a little bit like home when I'm there.

I’ve been going to BFL for almost a year. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. The staff is supportive, motivating patient and very positive. I enjoy the trainers and all the people in my Pilates classes. I love that the classes are smaller than the normal ones. 6 total so you get a lot of support from the trainer and the other people in the class.

Marcie did a fabulous job with my half hour massage! I was dealing with some gastritis and lying face down for a prolonged period of time was painful. I tried to ask multiple other massage spas in the nearby area if they could modify their massage so I wouldn't need to lay face down, but they said they wouldn't be able to make this accommodation. However, it was no problem for Balance For Life! Marcie found all the spots where I was carrying tension and discomfort and treated them with the perfect amount of pressure. Thanks!

Graditude is the first of many reasons I love this studio! Thanks to Julie running a first class operation. The staff are exceptional with rich backgrounds. They are so easy to work with & I learn something new every session. Currently I enjoy pilates mat class; personal stretching; personal training & weights.
Massage therapy sessions At 71 my stabilty has improved with core and strengthening work. The benefits allow me to enjoy an active lifestyle & avoid falls!
Another bonus is a good percentage of clients are older.

Loved the 6 week Pilates Reformer class. I had never tried Pilates before and was pleasantly surprised with the results and increase to core strength. Can't recommend enough. Staff was knowledgeable and made the class fun and engaging.

I have been a client at BFL for about 3 years. I live in Brooklyn Park, but after researching many other facilities I decided to make the drive to Arden Hills to try Pilates Reformer. I took the 6 week Series which offered comprehensive training in all aspects of the Reformer. This prepare me to join classes following the series. I could have gone anywhere after to take classes, (somewhere closer) but I continued commuting to Arden Hills for classes because I found BFL to be very welcoming, supportive and friendly. I have worked out at many gyms over the years, but this the best I have found. I have had amazing massages and also work out with a personal trainer. I love it so much that I started working there too.

I sustained a severe knee/tibia/tibial plateau injury after falling off a ladder. Once I was able to start walking again in the fall of 2023, I searched for a fitness center that would help me on my fitness journey along with physical therapy to get back to normal. I fortunately found Balance for Life and have been taking classes ever since. I have taken group fitness classes including yoga, mat pilates, pilates reformer, and strength and balance. In addition to the great variety of group classes, I have also been working with a trainer. BFL also offers massages as well. I love going to BFL because everyone (staff and other patrons) is friendly. I am truly a better version of myself!

I've only done the group pilates reformer classes here, but I've enjoyed what this facility has to offer. Everyone is friendly here.
I've participated in classes since June of 2024 and have experienced different instructors. I have my favorites, but they're all good.
There are a lot of options for classes and a variety of time slots to choose from. The app makes it easy to plan out my schedule, but it's also easy to call in and make appointments if that's your preferred method.
The facility is clean. There are lockers provided to keep your belongings in during your class or appointment.
Overall, I enjoy the variety here. I've been able to stay consistent with showing up and continue to feel like the instructors put in the effort to get the most out of the class.

I've seen Jocelyn for massage a half dozen times so far. She is such a kind hearted person and easy to relax around. She really knows how to work through trigger points. I have previously found it difficult to find a massage therapist that can do really focused work versus general massage. She is great about finding all the points with tension and working at it and the muscles around it. I've had significant pain relief since I started seeing her.

Super safe and clean always, but amazingly so during COVID. Female owned! Staffed by the most wonderful group of trainers, massage therapists, yoga teachers and customer service reps. I love that you pay for what you use versus a recurring membership fee you do or don’t utilize. An amazing group of people of helped me fall in love with exercise again and successfully hitting my wellness goals. Cannot say enough amazing things. Some specific shoutouts: Rhiana (so sorry if I spelled your name wrong girl!) is an extremely talented massage therapist especially if you’ve got tension and knots and prefer a deeper pressure.

Great place, great staff, clean, small and everyone knows your name! I have been taking private Pilates instruction for 6-7 years and I still look forward to it every week -- I have worked with many instructors over the years -- and all have been highly qualified and personable. My only complaint is I wish they were located in my home neighborhood so I could go more often. :-))

Love this gym! The group classes are small ( often only 6) challenging and motivating, with personal attention to form. It's a relief to find classes with the music at a low volume so the instructors aren't shouting over it. Personal training with Nikki has been varied and interesting, haven't tried Pilates, but they have a huge array of reformer machines.

Balance for Life Fitness truly is a special place. I have been training (Pilates) there for about three years and couldn’t be happier. I have been going to Balance for life for almost 10 years and I love it there. The small group classes are excellent, from pilates or yoga to kettlebell or TRX. I have done private training and Pilates reformer and I always get top notch instruction. If I ever work out at a friend's gym, I'm aware of the lower quality of care. First, Balance for Life is a well-run, top notch facility. Julie, the owner, is attentive not only to clients' physical training needs and schedules but also provides a clean, bright, welcoming space for workouts. Second, I've been training with Kandace for the last couple years, and she has done so much for increasing my strength and flexibility, both very important as I age. I appreciate how she meets meet me "where my body is at" on the days we train and modifies the session to my particular needs on that day. My husband and I have a partners private lesson twice a week. Our instructor is skilled at tailoring each day's workout to meet our needs. Use it or lose it, you know! I love this facility. It's pleasant, well-lit, and clean with machines that are in excellent working order. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I would recommend Balance For Life to anyone interested in staying/getting in shape.

This place is unique! I have taken Pilates reformer classes and done personal training here for several years. The Pilates instructors are all trained in a precise approach to the exercises, so there is little to no risk of experiencing injury in a class. I have also worked with three different personal trainers, all of whom were very experienced. The trainers are all very adept at adjusting one's training as needed, based on any limitations or injuries. Many people come here for rehabilitation after an injury. Others come to build strength, stamina and balance. This is a place where a person of any age, ability or size can feel comfortable. Because the business is set up for personal training and classes only, there is none of the chaos of a typical fitness gym. It is a warm and friendly place.

I’ve been coming to Balance for Life for Pilates for approximately ten years. I believe it is has contributed more to my continuing good health than anything else I’ve done. Additionally, I am certain that it helped me recover fully and quickly from ACL surgery I had a few years ago and neck surgery I had recently as a result of lymphoma. I have recommended Balance for Life to friends and family and endorse it without hesitation for anyone interested in maintaining fitness and health.

BFL has been my preferred Pilates personal training center for over 4 years. I attend 2 one hour sessions with Kandace weekly and schedule a wonderful massage with Amanda as often as I can - usually monthly. My flexibility and balance are my primary concern as I get older, and I find that this regiment works the best for me. Great service and skill is provided by all at BFL.

I have been going to Balance for Life for over 10 years. I have done group classes, individuals and duos. I cannot say enough about the instructors and their knowledge.
Kandance has been my primary instructor for over fours years. I had scoliosis surgery in 2014 and she prepared me for the surgery and now prepares me to handle every day life. She truly challenges me but understands my limitations. I get a good strong work out.
Julie (the owner) works hard to maintain the best group of instructors, operates the facility as a business with a very personal touch!

I saw Becky at BFL for massage therapy to help with upper back/shoulder/neck pain from a car accident. She was wonderful. She was sure to ask questions about where my pain was, where I wanted her to focus on and was great about giving me additional tips to what I can do day to day. I have since moved out of state and have had to find someone else for massage therapy- I have yet to find someone as good as Becky. Hands down the best massage therapist I have worked with.

I loved the TRX Classes. Jamie (the instructor) gave you excercises that worked and if they were not hard enough she gave you a modification. I have lower back and knee issues and i never feel back after doing the class. I know what i can and can't do. I love to push myself and always get a great workout in her class every friday.
