I’ve never liked group fitness until I came across Basecamp. It’s the perfect workout. You always leave sweating and like you got a good workout. The staff are amazing and so friendly. I started on a free trial and I’m absolutely hooked. I would 10 out of 10 recommend it!!!! The neon lights are just an added plus. I like it so much I canceled my Lifetime Fitness membership after 5 years… if that tells you anything

One thing I love about Basecamp is that even though it's group fitness classes the coaches do an excellent job of giving one on one attention to correct form, motivate, etc.

Love the format of the workout. Love that it’s a HIIT format without a lot/if any jumping. It’s great way to get a HIIT workout for those of us (like me) who have bad knees and often have to skip out on a lot of traditional HIIT exercises. My only complaint would just be the very small space. You are on top of each other, constantly bumping into, trying to wiggle around, not be in the way. That’s the only ‘downside’. Otherwise the instructors are great, the workout goes fast and you feel like you accomplished a lot!

I had the privilege of completing 300 classes at Basecamp North Loop, and I can confidently say it’s been one of the best parts of my fitness journey. I would have continued if it wasn't for me relocating to a new city.

The coaches are absolutely incredible—knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in your success. They make sure every workout is challenging yet achievable, catering to all fitness levels. The workouts are efficient, combining strength and cardio in just 35 minutes, and I consistently burned more calories than I ever did working out on my own.

But what really sets Basecamp apart is the community. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by fellow members who made every class enjoyable and inspiring.

If you’re looking for a fitness studio that delivers results, saves time, and surrounds you with an amazing group of people, Basecamp North Loop is the place to be. I’ll always be grateful for the experience and the progress I made here. You won't regret it!

Basecamp North Loop is the best gym I have ever joined. The workouts focus on all different aspects of health and fitness like strength, cardio, agility, power, balance, and functional movements. This is the first time in my life I actually look forward to going to the gym. All of the people at Basecamp including the coaches, staff, and other members are extremely kind and supportive of everyone no matter where they are in their fitness journey.

I have been attending Basecamp for about a year now and I have a one of the best gym experiences since my early days of working out. The staff are incredibly nice and welcoming, they will know your name and poke fun at you in the best way possible. The work outs are diverse and test you in many ways. No day is the same, and it always keep you on your toes. I am coming up on my 100th class and I look forward to celebrating with everybody!

I’ve been going to Basecamp in the North Loop since October 2023 and I can’t imagine not having found it! It’s the first time I have been able to stick with something, since sports in High School. The energy, the staff, the people are all amazing. You never need to feel pressure to overdo it and have the support to bring your best self to ever class. Grateful to have found such a healthy and great environment to workout in!

I'm extremely particular when it comes to my workouts because, as a former dual-sport collegiate athlete, I know what it's like to feel strong -- and I love it. After participating in a 'tour' of the North Loop fitness communities, Basecamp stood out as a gym I found to help me not only maintain my strength, but to really build it. The format is awesome, and I signed up for a membership after my first class. Zak and Jason learned my name the first day I walked through the doors and have known it ever since!

I'll start by admitting I never thought I'd be writing a review for a gym. The idea of sweating while lifting heavy objects or cycling seemed like a chore rather than something enjoyable. However, my perspective took a complete 180-degree turn when I stepped into Basecamp (North Loop).

From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with encouragement from the staff alleviating any apprehension I had about starting my fitness journey. What struck me most was their genuine desire to see every member succeed, regardless of their fitness level or goals.

The facility itself is nothing short of impressive. It's evident that cleanliness and maintenance are top priorities here, which only adds to the overall positive experience.

The most surprising revelation for me was discovering the joy in working out. Thanks to the instructors and engaging classes, working out transformed from a dreaded task into a fulfilling activity I look forward to, with each workout leaving me feeling accomplished.

Basecamp in North Loop has been incredible! I signed up during a promotional period to try out and it has been 2 weeks now and I am hooked.

The workout itself is fast paced, quick (45 mins max), and separated by the muscle groups targeted (ie Thursday is Upper Body, Friday is lower body, Saturday is full body, etc) and they have a dedicated core block at the end of each class. The coaches are fun, energetic, and encouraging - the music is great - lighting is perfect - and having the basecamp community around makes you want to push yourself to be better each time....highly highly recommend!

I’ve been coming here for 2 years and LOVE it. The instructors are friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable and really get to know you as you become a familiar face. Nothing makes you more satisfied than a mid-workout shout-out! I enjoy strength-based workouts and the short cardio intervals are perfect for someone who doesn’t love cardio or running (me). I also appreciate the effort by staff to build community by organizing occasional social events. Makes it easy to have gym friends! I’d recommend to anyone looking for a good all-around workout! It also has very down to earth vibes, so feels welcoming!

I won a free month of classes at this facility. They were able to schedule me for ONLY one class within that month. The one class was so packed, that I wound up (unfortunately) constantly experiencing the sweat of other people. Absolutely disgusting. Equipment is only cleaned between classes, and therefore since you are in a circuit, you often sit on a seat from another very sweaty person, or pick up weights that still have the sweat upon them from the prior person, or work out on the floor, in the sweat of the prior person. Nothing is cleaned during the circuit. Furthermore, they never reached out to me to schedule additional classes, or sell me a membership. When I tried sharing my concerns, my concerns were immediately dismissed. It is my belief, that if someone presents feedback or concerns, they are not warranted or welcomed by staff.

I was able to experience the high-energy, intense workout classes of awesome teachers at this basecamp location because it was highly recommended from a friend. I always left feeling out-of-breath, sore, but super accomplished. Coach Zak, Emily and Meghan were awesome and the staff was always welcoming, personal and kind. The only downside for me was pricing (although very comprobable to other fitness places, I'm sure, I'm just more of a nature fitness person, both for financial and personal preference reasons) But if you live nearby and don't have to drive a bit (as I did, although they did compensate parking), enjoy HIIT workouts with great music and awesome coaches, this place will be a great fit!

🩵 The coaches (shoutout Emily, Megan, Zak!) are all knowledgeable and infuse their own personalities into each workout!
🤍 My absolute favorite part of joining has been the community- the whole community is so welcoming and supportive both in class and at the studio’s many social events (trivia, mixers, kickball, etc)! The community makes me want to come back again and again!

I’ve been a member here for about five months and have so many positive things to say. I tried all the other group workout studios/gyms on ClassPass and ended up joining Basecamp. I can go every day and not get bored, but still feel like I get a good workout. Some workout studios (especially in North Loop) seem to think the most effective workouts run you into the ground and make it so you can’t walk the next couple of days. This might be true if you want to go only once a week, but I don’t like this style if you’re looking for a place to work out multiple times a week or to be your main exercise option.

Basecamp is effective, but doable and enjoyable. I can push as hard as I want or pull back on days I want to take it easy. The staff is great! The coaches will personally go up to you during the workout and help you correct your form or give you heavier weights/challenges. It’s also an unpretentious crowd (especially compared to other North Loop studios) and they offer the best promotions and affordability! They have more class availability than anywhere else, sometimes having nine classes a day. AND they validate parking! Only downside is it can feel a little crowded when the class is full, so I recommend going to a class during off-peak hours if you can.

Lastly, I love how they have a variety of equipment. BARBELLS, dumbbells, kettle bells, Bosu, med balls, TRX, boxes, ladders, assault bikes. You can really work on your strength here and not just HIIT/cardio.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have tried a lot of HIIT workout classes in the area and enjoyed most of them, but I like Basecamp the most. My favorite gym! And I’ve tried a few. I’ve done Orange Theory, Barry’s (once), kickboxing and other things, but generally still felt pretty new to HIIT workouts when I tried Basecamp. The intro was really great, they want to understand your experience, they set you up on your bike and explain how it’s gong to work. It’s a really friendly environment.

The TVs make it easy to see what workout you’ll be doing each round, whether it’s with dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells or other equipment. If you’re seasoned then maybe you won’t lean on them much, but starting out I really appreciated them and they free up the coaches to focus on you. The coaches are great at explaining how to do each move and will correct your form to make sure you’re getting the most out of it. I’ve found other HIIT gyms rarely comment on form, but if you’ve never done strength workouts like this you need the help to make sure you don’t incorrectly injure something.

I’ve been to almost all the coaches and they’re all really friendly and push you (but not overly so) to get a good workout. And if you go to a coach’s class enough, they know when to challenge you with heavier weights! I’d never done enough strength training to start living heavier, but I’m using heavier weights than I started and it’s rewarding.

The exercises on the floor really vary so I don’t feel like I’m doing the same thing every day. And love that it’s 45 minute workout including stretching. Because the schedule alternates arm, leg, total body, etc. I feel like I’m getting the best strength training I’ve ever had. Would 100% recommend.

I was really excited to start my membership with Basecamp. However, the day I went in to acquire additional information about memberships during my run, my experience was unwelcoming and racially discriminated. The front desk employee Anne saw me, stood there, ignored me completely all while making eye contact. She left me standing outside for 5 minutes in the cold. I further had to point and raise my voice that I wanted additional information. Anne was at the front desk the whole time standing not doing anything. I felt very hurt by this. After she saw that my English is perfect that's when she started to treat me better. I honestly wanted to go invest my time and money with Basecamp, however is Anne is the one representing Basecamp employees I am disappointed with the company ethics and Busniess practice.

This place is fantastic. I have been going here since they opened in Mid-May, and I actually look forward to working out. I've never been able to say that before in my life. I've noticed some great changes, not just in some weight loss, but also in my strength, stamina, energy levels, and overall happiness.

The overview: Each workout is 35 minutes, plus 10 minutes of "optional" core work at the end of class. Your time is split between riding a resistance bike, and doing some kind of strength or cardio work on the floor. The typical split is 60 seconds of bike, 60 seconds of floor (with 10 seconds to transition), but this can vary from class to class. Each section of floor work is a different exercise so it doesn't get boring, and the time goes by really quickly. In 2 months I have never taken the same class twice, so the variety is great. The workouts are spread out throughout the day, typically from 5:15 AM to 7:15 PM, so it's easy to find a time to go. There can be up to 30 people per class, and there are 15 bikes, so sometimes you share a bike with someone else (switching back and forth).

The facility: Everything is clean and modern. The bathrooms are nice, and there is a shower on site, as well as towels, water, snacks, etc. The equipment is clean and well organized, and lots of windows provide a bright and open workout space. Some of the bikes can get a bit warm if the sun is shining in, but it just means you'll sweat more.

The staff: This is where Basecamp really shines. Every single person I have interacted with has been great. From Nigel, the account rep, to the front desk workers, to the trainers - everyone is professional, fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. I had a couple small issues with the initial account set up, and they went above and beyond getting everything fixed for me. There was no pressure to sign up following the free trial. The trainers are really committed to everyone in their class being successful. There are always different options provided for different fitness levels, tons of motivation and encouragement, no judgement or negativity, and they don't yell at you like drill sergeants - they are there to encourage, guide, and support. Shout out to Annabelle, Kristi, and Christian who are the typical trainers for the times I go - they are all fantastic.

If you get a free trial, check this place out. It's not for everyone - if you prefer working out alone, or need a place that's 24 hours with tons of equipment, this won't be a good fit. If you're like me and need some guidance and motivation (without having to pay for a personal trainer) then this is a great fit.
