Me queda cerca de casa pero el lugar le falta actualizacion, los vestidores y baΓ±os y todo parece anticuado o viejo ya. Tambien falta equipo actual de pesas.

I generally enjoy the place, but the uptick in kids (well under the age requirement) running around is dangerous. Whether they're on the equipment or just blasting tv shows on ipads, the facility really needs to clamp down on this. Adults slamming equipment repeatedly and playing music without headphones is a pretty common sight as well. I don't expect Planet Fitness level crazy rules, but when you drop so hard the floor shakes at the end of every set, you're wrong. Honestly the front desk/staff NEVER enter the gym upstairs. It's usually a random cleaner or maintenance person, if anyone. To the management, encourage/empower/support your staff in addressing these things.

Really poor a/c upstairs in summer. Especially when the ceiling fans are not running and a request to front desk results in no action. And super annoying when you check the online schedule, show up to swim but the pool is closed and no sign at the desk. It's getting as bad as the YWCA.

I am following up on a review I wrote seven months ago. I have not been able to cancel my membership with YMCA. I have tried two times and each time they tell me its cancelled, and then bill more for subsequent months. Its been almost a year since I cancelled, and I am now receiving notices that my account is seven months past due. When I called them they said that bill was in a former system of theirs and now its "out of their hands" because they don't have access to it.
At this point, I'm worried the YMCA is going to charge me forever, not provide me the proper documentation, and I will just be stuck paying for a membership I didn't want.

The facility overall is mediocre at best and in need of attention. One of the more concerning issues is the noticeable fly/bug problem near the shower areas, which is both unpleasant and unsanitary.
Additionally, the bathrooms and showers feel outdated and could use renovations to meet modern standards of cleanliness and comfort. Another frustration is that the pool closes randomly without warning, disrupting the experience for members who rely on it. On top of that, the swimming lessons often dominate the pool space, making it difficult to enjoy a proper swim.
For the price members pay, the facility should offer a much cleaner, more reliable, and well-maintained experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes the necessary improvements.

YMCA and see to be good quality but itβs going downhill, been a member for almost 10 years.
Theyβre closing the child care center, pool is always short staffed, and not the best machines nor enough space for weights.
They need to hire more lifeguards for the pool.
Itβs ridiculous having so many people and only have one lifeguard at a time.
So many kids who donβt listen to any rules and with no parents.
Unreliable pool schedules if youβre trying to use the sauna.
Makes the Y experience awful. Iβm sorry! If they know theyβll have high volume, then act accordingly π€¦
But the front desk staff is always greets everyone who walk in.
YMCA as corporate needs to do better

I had a mediocre at best experience with the YMCA at first. Just up until I went to cancel my membership. I went into the Blaisdell location in person and canceled. The lady behind the counter said it was canceled. I realized two months later I was still be charged. When I called, I was consistently transferred to someone who said they couldnβt help. When I finally got someone who said they could I was told that the person never had me fill out some cancellation form and that there was no proof I canceled but that I could βfeel free to use our services till the end of the monthβ.
I literally donβt even know if itβs canceled now- nobody could tell me. All I know is that Iβve never regretted going to a gym before this experience.

Going down hill sorry to say.... 1) They can't seem to hire enough lifeguards to keep the pool open all the time..2) I have called the front desk to ask if the pool was open and was told "I don't know"...seriosly.. 3) The maintenance is not good with things like broken towel hooks not being fixed for several months..... 4) the pool schedule is also unreliable..you can show up if it says the pool is open at 8:00 and upon arrival be told it won't be open until 8:30.... there is no sense of urgency for anything and nobody really seems to care..... too bad

I used to love the Blaisdell Y but Iβm afraid itβs not what I remember. My partner and I signed up for a trail membership online and no one ever reached back out to us - the confirmation email stated they would call us (we gave them over a week). So we went in to the building to talk with someone in person. Sultan, the membership team member we spoke to, took us on a tour and when it came to sign up for the trial pass told us we couldnβt sign up without a MN state ID (which we later found out isnβt true), and honestly didnβt really seem to care or that helpful. Both my partner and I brought in our passport which is a valid form of ID. So when we left after getting denied, we called the general YMCA membership line and was told that a passport should have been accepted as a valid form of ID and didnβt quite understand why it wasnβt accepted. My partner and I called the Blaisdell Y to let them know a passport should have been accepted and we should have been able to sign up for the membership. However, no one answered and so we left a voicemail and, of course, no one has yet to return our call. We ended up going to the Midway YMCA and we were very pleased with the customer service there and weβre able to sign up for a trail pass with our passports. The staff who helped us, Alex, was very friendly and let us know about current enrollment promotions and let us know heβll be following up with us before our trail ends to see if we want to enroll at the Midway Y! :)

I attempted to put my five year old son into the Summer Power program. We had a terrible experience at the first day drop off. The staff was incompetent, to the point where I couldn't leave him in their care safely. Repeated attempts to discuss what happened were ignored, and my money went down the drain. This is not a safe place to leave your young child. I was so disappointed.

Awful experience. In town for a week and came to work out and the front desk could provide zero help getting a day pass or a week pass or even a month pass. Literally referred me to a different gym. Said it was due to pandemic policies and that the Y lost so much money even though itβs 2022. Doesnβt seem like itβs going to help them recover if they turn away new customers at the front door?

Overall this is an excellent place to workout. It's usually not overcrowded, and they have enough squat racks that I never have to wait to use the barbell for squats or bench presses. There are a few staff members that are very friendly and welcoming. My only real critique is that they don't do a good job of keeping kids from playing around in the weightlifting area. On one occasion two kids (they looked to be around 10-12 years old) were pulling on the cable machiene then lauching themselves into the air. One of the managers of the Y was there giving a tour to someone, and he didn't say anything. Eventually someone who was working out came over and told the kids to stop.

My kids have been swimming at the Y for several years, with a break during Covid. When we registered for lessons again we missed out on getting in at a preferred facility. We had been to the Blaisdell before and had an ok experience so were ok with settling for classes here. This time around this facility had a computer glitch and made it so their classes were overbooked. We ended up on a different day and time. We are three weeks into the session and between the inconsistency of the front desk staff and arbitrary enforcement of the check in policy and the randomness we encountered of who teaches the class each time, we are really hoping to either get into a different facility or we will withdraw from lessons altogether. The deck manager worked hard to meet the needs of all who registered. She has good customer service skills and was able to smooth out teacher consistency issues. There are also homeless encampments developing near the parking lot. Overall, using this facility is difficult.

I have attended many classes at this YMCA location. When I went to Blaisdell YMCA on Friday, 7-24-20, I was asked when I checked in if I had a mask and I replied that I had an exemption. I walked in and attended my fitness class. When I left I asked at the front desk for a copy of the policy requiring masks and the person, Kory, said since I did not wear a mask my YMCA ID would be "flagged" and I would be required to bring a written note from a doctor stating my exemption. She, Kory, said I should talk to her manager but I said no Thanks. Later I called the Southdale YMCA and they stated they would be accepting a verbal notification of exemption. Saturday, I went to Alberville Outlet Mall to shop and wore no mask. No one questioned the absence of a mask in any store I entered. I also went to Walmart in Monticello and when I entered I told the Greeter I had an exemption and she said, "No problem." with a friendly voice and smile. Don't give up your rights so easily or you will lose them permanently.

Friendly staff and a nice overall community-center feel. A few things that have been consistently bothersome though:
- loud teenage boys take over the whole place until about 9pm. Whether theyβre lingering at the front desk, or screaming at each other across the pool, I have a hard time focusing on my swim or relaxing throughout the facility. The only respite is a 1-hour kid free swim at 9pm.
- the steps from the locker rooms to the pool area are often very dirty and they are slick tile without any grip tape, making them very dangerous.
- hot water runs out fairly often, cold showers are pretty common.

Pros: The staff is great, the machines are pristine, the pool is nice and they have a sauna and whirlpool which are great for recovery.
Cons: This is easily one of the busiest ymcas in the metro area. It isnβt uncommon to have to wait to use machines and all of the benches in the free weight area are usually being used, sometimes for an hour plus. It can make a quick thirty minute work out take an hour.

I have been a member of the YMCA community for almost 8 years now. The Blaisdell location is clean, the staff members are friendly, and they update equipment on a fairly regular basis. It gets very busy sometimes that I have to wait for machines and free weights, and at times there are little kids running around the workout area which is unsafe. The staff don't seem terribly interested in controlling that. The sauna could also be larger, but there is only so much space to work with.

Sweet place to exercise, swim, sauna, indoor track, weights and classes. If you go regularly, they remember you. After you go awhile, you make friends, and almost always see somebody you know.
I'm also a fan of the YMCA's community involvement. You don't get that from lifetime. YMCA is a very down-to-earth place, by comparison, beautiful people work out there, but they're not all beautiful, like at lifetime.
And from what I understand, if you're too broke to afford the cost of a regular gym membership, they'll cut you a break, depending on your income, which I think is really cool. Exercise is so important for health and well-being, everybody deserves to be able to have a membership somewhere.
