MAN IN WOMENβS LOCKER ROOM.
Do not support this business. I was just there using the sauna in the womenβs locker room when a man walked in. As long as they keep their gender identity policy in place, this is not a safe place for women and children.

Edit: For anyone reading this, by "reaching out," they mean they gave me a bunch of non-answers to my privacy concerns and made it clear they had no intention of caring about customer privacy any time soon.
I've been to plenty of other places that allow people to sign a waiver without a photo release and discourage people from taking videos of others without permission. There are no excuses.

MBP has sponsored their location on Google maps now, and it is the first result when you search "Vertical Endeavors". Pretty scummy if you ask me, but what else can you expect from the Corporate Climbing Gymβ¦

Everything here is great β the facilities are nice and the environment is good.
But Iβm really disappointed. When I signed up for the membership at the end of the month, the staff told me it would cover a full month. I only came a few times afterward, but on the 1st of the next month, I was charged again for the membership.
Also, during my first few visits after getting the membership (at least four times), shoe rentals were free. But this time I was suddenly charged for them.
Iβve already canceled my membership and wonβt be coming back.

Absolutely love this gym. Even if your not super into rock climbing there is something for you. They offer various fitness classes that are fantastic with friendly staff and instructiors.
The gym community is also amazing. Everyone is super nice and supportive of one another.

I tried the intro class for $25 and loved it! I had zero experience with bouldering or climbing in anyway and was nervous about the heights.
Ash was our instructor and she was awesome. Super thorough, explained everything (didn't assume we knew any of the jargon), and really encouraging. I got a little stuck on a climb not knowing what to do next and she talked me through it.
I tried a few more climbs on my own after the class in the open gym area and it was great. People just do their own thing and, while I was nervous about being "watched" by strangers - it didn't feel that way once I was actually on the wall climbing.
Absolutely would go again and considering taking further classes.

Great time there with my kids (9 and 12 years old. There's a great colorful diagram on which is easiest paths and on up to hard ones. Some of the harder paths my younger son couldn't reach due to his smaller wing span, but he used other colors to make it work.

MBP is an exceptional bouldering gym! They have a lot of interesting routes to climb, numerous yoga and fitness classes, and informative climbing classes.
In addition to all they offer, they have an extremely supportive, welcoming community!
I would highly recommend coming and checking out MBP!

As someone who is still relatively new to bouldering and overcoming a fear of heights, this is such a welcoming environment! The staff are friendly and helpful. The other climbers are respectful and will give you tips if you ask :) the routes change weekly, which provides a fun, new challenge. There are other facilities like the gym, sauna, classes, etc. I havenβt participated in those but I hear wonderful things. Well worth the membership.

Been climbing here for a year now so I feel its a good time to give a review!
This is genuinely the most inclusive/supportive gym I have ever been to. the staff and people are always extremely kind, compassionate, and helpful. it feels extremely welcoming. they always have lots of fun events going on to include the community and fun ways to further your climbing skills such as couching. i personally feel the monthly membership price is somewhat understandable given the wide variety of activities (yoga, sauna, gym, coworking spaces, merch, and other retail items). I even got my new (expensive) pair of shoes through the gym at a discount which genuinely made my year!!
the reason I can't give a 5 star is due to what i feel is repetitive route setting. given routes are set based off color I understand how it may restrict the variety of settings within a certain color can be done. routes tend to become very predictable which i've come to see as both an upside and a downside. if i need to work on finger strength ill go climb a black, if I need to work on slopers i can maybe find a decent variety of green/purples with different slopers. my issue becomes when it doesn't feel like i can improve due to the color grading system. ive gotten strong at certain slopers but can't even start a pink sloper because its halfway up the wall. it doesn't feel very supportive in growth in that aspect. i tend to get bored after a certain period of time because i did everything in a certain color but feel like im hitting a wall on another. its both beneficial but also discouraging depending upon my mood lol
id love to see more of a variety in routes/holds but in a gym that is mainly color grade based: its difficult. i still love this place and the community despite this drawback. i love coming here and working on a specific color/grade to try and improve but i may go elsewhere when i'm frustrated and need to feel like i'm having fun again.
despite the fault: truly a great community and gym. i am very grateful to have been introduced to this place β€οΈ

MBP is a fantastic place to climb, but suffering from success.
If you go between 4pm and 8pm on a weekday the experience is akin to being packed into a sardine can. Hard to justify $15/visit or almost $1,000/yr when youβre jostling for space on the wall or waiting 30 minutes for a rack.
At off peak hours the value is still there. Unfortunately peak hours are when I (and most other people) can work out.
Hoping to see more locations soon to better spread the demand.

They raised the monthly costs three times since I had my membership in 2022. $90 a month feels over-priced. This place is consistently over-crowed, particularly on weekday nights. You canβt really train here but if you want to stand next to four people waiting for the same route or to use gym equipment, than this is the place for you. Seriously, there's never any parking and I wish it was an understatement. If you can bike, thereβs usually spots on the posts. Staff is polite and likable but totally unhelpful. Oh and if you have a kid younger than 14 with you and they donβt stay in the back, they yell at you. You're better off going to VE because at least you have multiple locations with a membership. I would blow that $90 on a gym you can actually use.

I've been coming for almost 5 years! But...
1. the recent monthly fee raise to $90 with no signs of an expansion or second location despite the HUGE demand in the area
2. insane overcrowding both in the parking lot (I've started having to pay for parking at nearby park...), and the climbing space (lots of children running everywhere or new climbers who are climbing very unsafely)
means I've had to quit. This sucks though, I really loved the place for so long...

Started my climbing career here and have a soft spot for MBP. This weekend was my first time back in over 3 years. But man, what happened to this place?
Gravely disappointing. The setting is still fun - but I will say that as someone with a history of left shoulder injuries - nearly every single problem is set left. That is not my complaint though.
Overcrowded is an understatement. But the real problem is all the children running, screaming, and jumping in front of or under problems. Itβs mayhem. Makes you think twice about going back.
Saw a review recently about how they charge way too much and are not investing into expanding the MSP footprint or adding another location; I could not agree more. Clearly funding out of state developments.

I hate to leave such a low review for MBP, but after my experience today, I sincerely hope it gets the attention of management. I used to be a youth coach and I know that it can be a rough job sometimes, but the way the summer camp coaches allow the children to behave here detracts from everyone elseβs climbing experience. Allowing the summer camp children to run full-speed across the gym and scream for hours on end is absolutely unacceptable. There was literally an instance when the two youth camp supervisors let all 20+ children sprint down a long stretch of the gym. One kid tripped and nearly knocked into me, another one stepped on my hand. I received a halfhearted βsorryβ from one of the coaches. The kids were also screaming the entire time while running, and pretty consistently screaming for the whole 2 hours we were at the gym. This sets such a terrible example to other children/parents in the gym that MBP would allow such disrespectful behavior. Iβm fully supportive of summer camps, but they shouldnβt cost the rest of the entire gym a positive climbing experience.

The fact that this place does not post yoga teacher bios or even include yoga teacher names in schedules is sketchy. People want to know their yoga teachersβ training and experience. Place can be a daycare on the weekendsβ¦route setting has slowedβ¦gym area setup isnβt efficientβ¦towels moved behind desk, and locker thefts not uncommon - apparently itβs not that safe of a βsafe spaceβ but itβs still super brave. Like, the bravest.
Menβs sauna hasnβt worked well for months. Instead of addressing before winter (and usage rush), they tried cheap fixes. Now itβs been shut down for two weeks in December after βdiscovering more issuesβ; oh, and they wonβt turn the water heater up so showers are lukewarm at best these days, while one menβs shower has been down for over a week; oh, and they constantly have βtowels unavailableβ; but hey, at least their billing system hasnβt struggled as they bill me on time every month in full even as services degrade. Oh, and route setting pace hasnβt improved (and walls continue to be under-utilized compared to most every other bouldering gym) as multiple walls contain routes from a comp 6 weeks ago.

I've been climbing since 2002 and have visited close to 30 different gyms in that time. I can confidently say that MBP is easily among the best. I've been aware of them since they opened, but never had the time to visit while I was in town. The facility is bright, airy and open, with good filtration. The staff at the front counter were welcoming and very friendly and given how swamped they were, got us checked in quickly. The route setting was of a very high quality with a good mix of comp style boulders and problems one might see outside. Despite not having climbed in a few years, the grades felt accurate and there was really good flow. One of the harder things to accomplish as a setter is fun, flowy, problems at the lower end of the grade range and the team nailed that. Overall I was thoroughly impressed. If I had to find one critique, it would be the lockers. While the locker rooms were large, the lockers did not have built-in locks and that caught me off guard. Luckily, the person who I came with had a lock so it was all good. Having worked in the industry in the past, I can confidently say this is a very high quality gym, well done!

Large space with tons of boulder problems on all types of terrain and for all ability levels. I like the grading system: just pick a color or two in your range and go for it without being hung up on a number. I like that there are lots of comp style boulders because not many gyms offer that. But there offerings for all styles. The gym seems to take interest in the growth of the sport and offers lots of opportunities for kids. There is a large kids area and much of the gym has kid friendly setting. So be prepared to share the space with little crushers especially on the weekends. Donβt be surprised when an 9 year old flashes your project.

I used to love coming here but now I'm essentially paying $85 a month for something that's akin to half a daycare. Kids are now having priority on half the gym until 7:30, which is messed up considering the adults who pay for this place are stressed out and want to come here to get it all out in a healthy manner. If you're going to let kids have this much reign over a gym at least have the decency to make the membership cheaper for adults..

As a regular member, I can confidently say that this place is a haven for those seeking thrilling challenges.
As an individual who is afraid of heights/falling. MBP have these high-quality mats, you're free to focus on scaling new heights, knowing a soft landing awaits you every time.
However, what truly sets this gym apart is its staff and the incredible sense of community that permeates the air. The staff members here are more than just instructors or guides; they are passionate climbers themselves who embody the essence of the sport. Approachable, knowledgeable, and eager to see you thrive, they're more than happy to offer their expertise, help fine-tune your technique, and inspire you to reach new heights.
Within the gymβs walls lies a vibrant community of climbers who share a common love for bouldering. It's a place where people from all walks of life come together, leaving their differences at the door, as bouldering enthusiasts bond over their shared passion. Ranging from beginners to seasoned pros, this community offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for climbers of all skill levels to flourish.
More than just an excellent location to climb, our gym fosters connections and friendships that go beyond the walls. It's genuinely awe-inspiring to witness the camaraderie that unfolds here. Whether it's cheering each other on during a challenging climb or exchanging tips and tricks, the support within this community is unparalleled. Strangers quickly become friends, sharing triumphs, failures, and everything in between.
MBP goes above and beyond to create a sense of belonging and foster an incredible community spirit. From organized social events to friendly competitions, there are numerous opportunities to connect with fellow climbers, celebrate achievements, and motivate each other towards greater feats. It's moments like these that truly make this gym feel like a second home.
A bouldering gym with world-class mats, a dedicated staff, and a remarkable community is a rare gem. MBP not only provides the best possible safety measures but also encourages you to challenge yourself fearlessly. With its experienced, caring staff and a tight-knit community that embraces all climbers, this gym leaves an indelible mark on your heart. Embark on a thrilling bouldering adventure and let yourself be inspired within this incredible space.

My 8 year old participated in the advanced training camp this summer and loved it. All the coaches were awesome, not just with the kids but with the parents too. The head coach Tyler has developed a fantastic approach to training young competitive climbers to push their performance in a fun format that applies just the right amount of pressure.
The gym itself is a massive playground for boulderers of all ages and levels. Not too many climbing centers have the space and resources to accommodate kids and adults, casual and advanced, but MBP is exactly that kind of spot.

I have spent so much money on day passes here because I love it so much. I think I might just buy a membership because I would come here all the time! A day pass is around 20 + some extra if you wanna rent shoes. They are always very friendly at the front desk! I have never had a bad experience even when I am being difficult and give them a manual card entry instead of actually having the physical credit card.
The place is so large and there are boulders for all skill levels! I am not very good, so I cannot do pinks, blacks, or whites, but I have gotten a good amount of purples and some oranges. The other fellow climbers here are also very friendly! I can chat just about anyone up and they will reciprocate the same energy.
They also have a nice gym area! My buddy Lucky squatted 405 in there with no warmup! When I get tired for climbing, I'll go to the gym area, deadlift, then go climb some more. The mats that you fall onto are also very nice. I am a tad bit fearful of heights, but every time I fall, it is like landing in a pile of cotton candy. The mats absorb me.

Did the 3 month promotional membership.
The good: facility is large, tons of climbing space, good lockers, decent rotation on the holds. The hours are great compared to the rest of the Twin Cities climbing gyms. The value is decent for the area as well.
The bad: gym area is in bad disrepair, benches are just unusable, everything is dirty and grimey, it is always busier than other climbing gyms Iβve gone to, parking can be very difficult, they cater heavily to these βparkourβ style of holds on the lower levels of beginner routes (i.e. tends not to be beginner friendly). A good chunk of the holds have clearly not been scrubbed in quite some time as they are covered in grime. Rental shoes were absolute garbage, I get rental shoes are rental shoes but these are the worst Iβve ever dealt with.
When we did the promotional 3 month membership it suddenly ended suddenly and before we were anticipating.
Iβve climbed in about 10 different gyms when traveling, was a member of the Austin Bouldering Project for a year and was expecting something similar to that up here but got something that felt like a more poorly managed, dirtier, and kind of beat up.
TL;DR-good gym for moderate/beginner climbers. Totally recommend going in the early mornings itβs the only time itβs not completely stuffed with people just laying on the mat.
Edit: the manager reached out and was very kind and helpful in helping resolve a few of my grievances here, and a plan is being put in place for other ones. Happy to see how well the management responded and updating from a 2 to a 4 star!

The setting and the people are incredible, but itβs challenging to enjoy it because of the crowds. On weeknights between 5-10 it seems to average about 400-450 people according to the occupancy tracker. The bouldering community is great and they have great staff that make you feel at home. However, it is always super crowded when I am able to go, which is essentially outside of the standard 8-5pm M-F work hours. I know that most people are not judging but it can be quite intimidating when its packed and everyone is just sitting at the base of the climb resting and watching you. I hope they can open up another site in the TC metro area to help relieve some of the crowd.

Great place, but getting too busy. Go somewhere else so that the rest of us can continue to enjoy our favorite gym.

Biggest bounding facility that im aware of in the twin cities! Really great & fun staff. Bathrooms have a sauna & showers which is awesome. Tons of walls to climb for all skill levels! We went late in the day and I found the grips to be pretty caked with sweat & chalk. Overall itβs a great way to spend an hour or two with friends!

My favorite climbing gym. Terrific community and a great space. Tons of climbing walls that are reset regularly, yoga and climbing classes included with membership, and a weight room to boot! Love this place! Staff are super nice and friendly

A great place to climb! The mats are very soft compared to other gyms I've visited, and the whole place has a nice feeling atmosphere.
Update: as the gym becomes more popular, there are often far too many people in the gym to the point where it hurts the quality of the experience

The atmosphere is clean and there are friendly + helpful staff. The layout is great, where there's a sort of "main area" that has an open flow, and a lot of good nooks where there's not as much traffic. I like the yoga and fitness classes, the full gym, the community space, and sauna. They also have an awesome sliding scale membership program. Nothing to complain about!

We visited from Albuquerque, this gym has the best day pass we've found. Loved the staff and other climbers. Routes were consistent and felt accurately graded, nice texture and shaping of the holds, with a variety of different styles. Would 100% recommend for anyone visiting and I'm sure it'd be great as a local gym.

It was my first time here today but it certainly will not be my last. Thank you for a most wonderful and joyous time!

MBP is a bouldering, gym, and a yoga membership all in one. I really appreciate the positive and warm environment I have found there. Joining MBP after moving to the twin cities has made me feel at home. No matter which part of the gym Iβm using, I leave feeling better than when I got there.

Iβve been a member since 2019 and I cannot recommend MBP enough. Iβve brought so many people here over the years (friends, family, dates, friends of friends, the list goes on). The facility is clean, upbeat, and fun. The staff are super friendly. The boulders are awesome. Thereβs such a variety, it can be fun for everyone. I brought my parents (in their sixties) here and they had a blast. Great place for kids, too. Thereβs also a super nice yoga studio and fitness center. Iβve really enjoyed attending yoga classes and utilizing the fitness area to warm up. Great community of people and so many community activities held and run by MBP. I cannot rave enough.
If you travel, there are a couple Bouldering Projects located in other cities and as a member youβre welcome in all of them. Seattle Bouldering Project is also great :)

I actually love this place and love the yoga so much. But after a recent thunder storm and tornado warning they kicked everyone out of the Bouldering Project early. I had to drive in the middle of a tornado warning, luckily it wasnβt far- but I noticed some people had biked there and who knows how far some had to drive. I wish they had let us wait out the storm, because it was extremely scary. Again, love the gym usually but this was unprofessional and strange.

Fantastic place for bouldering of all skill. They had plenty of different walls and all the routes are graded by holds of the same color. I was really happy they had some routes that didn't go super high because my girlfriend who is a little afraid of heights got to start (and finish!!!) some routes. Definitely a great spot to try!

Summary:
It has certainly improved my quality of life over the past few months. Whether you're simply looking for exercise or are looking to get into/improve in climbing, I would highly recommend this gym. It is also a terrific place for a fit date or to invite friends.
My experience:
I use this gym for studying/working; I will go in and climb for 30 minutes, then use the upstairs workspace to work/study for about an hour, and then climb again for 30 minutes and repeat until I'm tired and then I'll go home. I have done this for about 4 months, sometimes 6 days a week. The gym environment has such an effect that I have higher productivity in 4 hours studying/climbing here than 4 hours sitting at a desk and trying to study (I am a self-learner, not a student so external motivation is precious). If you're a student or someone who does a lot of work on your laptop, this is pretty much the best place ever to get some work done and also exercise. Most importantly, it will keep you positive and you'll easily be consistently doing it in the long run.
Finally, this place brings out the good in people and I've seen it - no one is ever negative here because the environment simply fulfills people's egos so completely that there is no reason to grasp for more. It is great to be able to go into a place where people are doing what they evolved to do - solving their individual-level problems (climbing routes) but in a social environment where they can do so mutualistically.
Easy 5 stars. If only there was a place like this in every city.

Their gym overall is very clean, but it would be nice if they disallowed outdoor shoes in the locker rooms in the winter.
If you aren't a trendy, left-leaning, kombucha sipping college student, you will stick out like a sore thumb, and the staff will likely be less friendly towards you.
They have lots of amenities, but it shows in the price.
Their setting is also very sporty comp style rather than mimicking actual rock. Aren't climbing gyms supposed to be a place to train for outdoor climbing?
They have a big sign that says they ban guns on the premises. If they were located in Maple Grove or Eden Prairie, I wouldn't have a problem with that, but they are located in one of the more dangerous areas of Minneapolis.
They have a wide variety of workout equipment. Never seen a climbing treadmill in person until visiting here.

Iβve been climbing at MBP with friends for a few years. Itβs always a fun experience, no matter your skill level. Iβve gone with friends who have never climbed and friends who have been climbing their whole life.
The gym is clean, large, and has a nice range of difficulty. The environment is relaxed and not judgmental at all.

I had a phenomenal first time at this bouldering gym with my buds. We were greeted by Xavier ( extremely genuine, and friendly individual ) who walked us through using the gym safely, and getting us the best fitting climbing shoes. This gym has a plethora of climbing walls, a large weight room, great locker rooms ( with saunas ), second floor yoga studio, and large lounge area. Overall this entire place has a down to earth, and positive vibe. I will recommend this experience to a friend 10 out of 10 haha. Check it out, you only live once!

Awesome bouldering gym with a great fitness area as well. There are a ton of high quality problems set at all grades with an excellent variety of styles--some of the best slab problems I've climbed in a while. New problems are set regularly. Minneapolis Bouldering Project is one of the best climbing gyms. It is definitely tailored to millenials and features lots of artwork, bright colors, and amenities. I haven't used their normal gym, but have heard good things. They're a great place for a climb and their setters are great at putting together some interesting problems. During pre-Covid times, their events were super fun and loaded with people. Climbing is a very social activity and MBP really makes that easy. The staff are some of the nicest people around. They don't come off as judgy or too serious (while still maintaining a safe environment). If I didn't climb ropes, I would definitely go for a membership at MBP.

I've had great experiences at MBP over the ~2 years I've been going. There are a lot of friendly and familiar faces who are happy to chat and offer advice if you want it. The routes are challenging at the higher levels, and accessible at lower levels for first-timers and kids. It's a great environment that's gotten me to really focus on my fitness and health for the first time ever, simply because it doesn't feel like exercise - it's fun, and mentally stimulating to problem solve.

Easy place to fold right into even if you've never been there before or never climbed. In addition to climbing walls, there is a gym. You can explore each wall area on your own, or you can grab a card and follow a guided challenge (some challenging, some easy). Grips are color coded by difficulty so you get an idea of where you want to climb, and how to set goals as you progress. I love it. My kids love it there. They do kids camps and birthday parties also. They've got shoes there for you to rent for like $2 or $3 bucks or something easy.

I really enjoy every visit to the Bouldering Project here in Minneapolis! There are a TON of interesting and challenging problems available for all levels. I started here with a safety class and was incredibly grateful for the exceptional coaching by the staff, especially coming back from a very serious climbing-related injury. The one inconvenience is the hours--no weekday evenings for day pass members--but understandable given the pandemic. All in all, would recommend!

MBP is awesome. My boyfriend and I both joined after climbing with a friend in Colorado and have not looked back. They focus on bouldering (climbing without ropes) but also offer tons more- yoga, saunas, climbing classes, a gym, group fitness classes, and cool film screenings. The membership is super reasonable and we love all the people we've met at MBP!

I wanted to applaud the staff of Minneapolis Bouldering Project. On Wednesday night, there were some "customers" not wearing their masks appropriately and one of the staff members called them out reminding them that we are in a pandemic. My only regret is that I didn't thank the staff member personally for their courageous and rightful reminder of that "customer" that we are still in a pandemic. I know that the staff at MBP care not only deeply about their community but also about the safety and health of all it's members. They have enacted protocols to allow us to still enjoy the privilege of indoor climbing even during a pandemic and I am grateful that they have worked so hard to not only re-open their doors but they are constantly contributing to the community. Again to the staff member who called these hooligans out. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
