I have been coming to the YMCA in Burnsville for the last 2 years. I come specifically to use their pool 2-3 times a week. I love their pool. I also have a membership here because the YMCA is all about community. It is something I feel is extremely important. The staff here is fabulous and friendly. The women's locker room is clean and well-maintained. I often find myself shutting off showers that have been left on, picking up items left on the floor because I love this place. Sometimes as members we have to lead by example. The YMCA is a complete stress reducer in my life! Thank you for being simply outstanding!

If you like to play basketball weekdays between 9am-2pm this is not the gym for you. They reserve it for pickleball. Again, you cannot play basketball on the BASKETBALL court at those times.

The Burnsville ymca is racist! They wouldn't allow black kids to use the pool and claimed it was โover capacityโ(there was only 10 kids.) I was there today for 5 hours and my kids only swam for 20 mins. When i spoke to the manager she told me they only allow 25 people at a time but there was not more than 15. I wish i could rate this ymca 0 stars.

We've been a part of the flag program 45 years. And ever since the y m c a took over, it's been a joke! We started off this season without a coach. Because, you know, they pulled the coach from last year that wasn't even signed up. We're on our fourth week now a flag, and it's ninety five degrees out on mother's day, and we played a team that doesn't even exist! Showed up for no reason. I've coached many seasons prior and ever since it became part of the ymca, I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone!

Thier promos were a scam. They told me 1 month for $1.00 then after the month was over, they charged me $78.00. They need to let people know that after the month is over they will be charged for a full month. They are too expensive for their membership. Planet fitnness is way cheaper. Now that bill is in collections and I am still not paying it. I will not be returning.

Signed up my grandchild for swim lessons. Instructor called out sick for the second lesson. The Y said they will give a partial refund for the missed lesson. This strikes me as strange. I want my grandchild to learn how to swim. A partial refund doesn't help reach that goal . Why not a make up lesson.
UPDATE
Just prior to week three an email arrived stating that all future swim lessons were cancelled. The communication was poorly written. Indicates a badly managed Y location.
Definitely will not use the Y programs in the future.

Canceled my membership on 02/09/25. They charged me 03/7/2025. Was told that was an error and theyโd fix it. Then was charged 04/01/2025. Absolutely unacceptable. The membership was canceled with no outstanding balances owed. Thereโs no reason I should still be getting charged. They refuse to remove my card on file as well.
In terms of billing related services Iโd put a 0 star if possible.

My child was kicked in the stomach during kid stuff and was extremely upset and they didnโt not notify me until I finished my session. Thatโs dangerous and irresponsible. A staff member told me that they only notify parents of accidents if it involves blood. Being kicked in the stomach can be a serious injury and if my 4 year old is crying that bad I want to contacted. Iโm really angry and donโt trust this site to watch my child.

No longer a good value. Lower income families get a fat discount so they come with their 11 kids and take up all the family changing rooms. Was nice for pickleball, but they only have the courts going in the AM and its mostly older, retired folks. Indoor pool is uninspiring and kids make their way into the designated lap swim lanes.

We recently signed our boys up for a summer soccer classes at Burnsville YMCA. We had such a disappointing experience. We signed them up for separate classes, that were clearly identified as separate and one class for 3-4 year olds and another for 5-6 year olds. On the first day of class, we found out they combined the classes. That is way too big a range for both age and skill set to be productive. It was also one coach with 13 kids, which is not productive in any way. We reached out to a coordinator with these concerns after the first class, and we were dismissed with no explanation. There were frequently different coaches, resulting in more chaos and very little relationship or skill building. It felt like they just found a person to throw out there each week, and coaches were typically late. There was clearly no developed lesson plan. They did very little skill building and only scrimmaged for most of class, which was chaotic and resulted in fights and hurt feelings between kids because again, working with way too wide an age range, too many kids and variance in soccer skill sets. The big kids dominated and little ones were left out. Little ones were frequently just running around. Some coaches emphasized score keeping and others said, we donโt keep score, which resulted in frustration for the kids week to week, understandably so. It was so random and chaotic every week, and our boys frequently didnโt want to go. Would never recommend this soccer program, and we wonโt sign our kids up for Y classes again.

People come here who donโt know how to use the equipment or proper eitquite, and stink because they donโt wear deodorant. The parents at the pool donโt control their kids at all and the Lifeguards are completely useless. Some of them donโt enforce the rules at all. I wanted to swim laps and there was some kid who was just bobbing in the lane and I asked the lifeguard to tell him to move to the lane on the side with the other kids and when she came over he started swimming forward and the lifegurd was like โI think heโs swimming laps!โ Even though he was staying in place for the 2 minutes before that. Another lifeguard was encouraging kids to do dangerous breath holding contests and walked to the other side of the pool to talk to the other lifeguard, leaving his zone completely uncovered. A little girl dove in to the shallow end head first and he didnโt say anything.

Vassin or yassin whatever his name is in the front desk is completely unprofessional. Extremely rude and honestly not a good representation of someone who you should first be greeted by when walking/signing in. No smile or any type of joy in his tone or manner. Sounds like he doesn't like his life and it shows in the way he runs that front desk. Will decide on not getting membership thanks to him.

I primarily use the pool, and while some of the lifeguards run a tight ship, it is often utter chaos and children are allowed to use the lap pool when people are trying to swim during lap/water walking only hours. I am also concerned that one lifeguard always wears sunglasses indoors whilst almost never moving. It is not particularly bright; has his management verified that he can actually see where he needs to see? Are his eyes open under there?
Unrelatedly, there have been a lot of young boys in the womenโs locker room despite the availability of a family locker room. 6 and under children are allowed in either locker room, but as there is a family locker room the policy should be reevaluated. Kindergarteners and first graders shouldnโt have to run the risk of being forced to change next to one of their classmates of the opposite sex and my 6YO daughter, who is in kindergarten and is newly aware of privacy, has had boys as tall as she show up right next to her as she is trying to change.

Wow, I would never ever recommend this gym to anyone. We stopped going here after covid and decided to return a couple weeks ago. It didn't take even one week for us to cancel. The kids stuff is only open a few hours a day at some random times not everyone can use. They have no classes throughout the day... all of which they supposedly offer. They need to be up front with members, especially returning members of all the changes and how they offer nothing but a gym now and charge way more than newer gyms! I left my water bottle the last day and when I called the next morning to ask if it was turned in to lost and found the tall guy who works the front was so rude. He said we have over 40 bottles in there you can come look yourself. I asked if he could check if it was possibly on top of the pile as it is a very distinct and very large bottle. He kept saying there are too many bottles. If you can't do your job and offer customer service then get another job. People have no work ethic any longer.

I really can't say enough good about the Burnsville YMCA. From the time you enter the building, until you leave, the staff is so welcoming. The people coming to work out are also friendly and respectful. It is clean and well laid out. I've never been disappointed in the instructors or the classes. Working out is something I have to force myself to do many times, but I always leave feeling so much better mentally and physically. I've been a member of the Y for about 40 years, and have attended many Y's. This one is my favorite, and lucky for me, closest to my house.

One of the front desk told me that my money of $66 will be reimbursed in 2 days. Because of COVID-19 we stopped coming. I waited for a week and no refund. When I called after a week another person in front desk who is not professional told me that I willnot get refund for my money without reason. We have been their client since 2017 and they donโt transfer you to their managers or supervisors. They will hang up the phone

An amazing community asset. The new kid care shade for the playground was a good investment. I don't feel like this is a fancy or exclusive gym, but it is what we need here for these times- a place where we can get fit and focus on our health and community. Swimming lessons are very inexpensive compared to the gift our kids learned. We haven't gone in-person since March, but we keep our membership going to support this great place.

I enjoyed the gym but to be honest there were a lot of older individuals at the gym that were straight up mean. I got yelled at for listening to music in my headphones and scolded for checking my phone for literally two seconds to switch the song I was listening to. I also got criticized for working out while I was pregnant and at that point I went to the staff and they really didnโt do anything about it. Thatโs not necessarily something the staff can prevent but that doesnโt mean I should have to put up with it so I went to planet fitness. Thereโs only one of everything at this location and there were times Iโd literally wait 30 minutes for one machine. I still enjoy taking my son to the swimming classes and everything even if I have to pay the non member price so Iโll continue to do that. So I mean itโs not all bad.

The test was flouting on your back and front for 5 seconds And my cousin felt so uncomfortable how they were coming at her for when I tried to help. Good and friendly sometimes. Some of the desk staff is totally incompetent. I was signing up and the guy who was helping me, walked away without letting me know if I was done or not. As he was not coming back, after a long wait, I asked a lady what was happening? She said that she didn't know but she knew I had been at the counter for a long time. She told me to just go in and start. I did. I have still no idea if I'm signed in as a member .
Today, I tried to call. Long wait on the phone and plenty of advice on how to donate. I finally got a live person, and he hung up on me. I assume it was an accident and that he tried to put me on hold. I'm not calling back. Very dissatisfied in Lakeville.

I enjoyed this gym when I first started, however, I decided to cancel after less than a month for many reasons. First, the fact that kids are allowed to run around the gym and use workout equipment is beyond me and I've never seen that at a gym before. It seems like a liability to me. Also, mothers with strollers walking on the walking track and getting in people's way when they are trying to jog is unacceptable. I understand that the Y is a family friendly place, however, there are just too many kids running around and staff clearly doesn't do their job because I see many kids playing on the workout equipment and that lessens the chance of other people being able to use it. For $120 a month, I am very dissatisfied and when I am spending that much money, I expect to be able to use the amenities. Every time I went there, the basketball court was never open for other guests who pay for it to use. On top of that, they didn't link my dad to our account. My experience with the Y has been so frustrating and although the staff was helpful, I probably will never be back.

I only do water kettlebells here but I love it. I find the water exercise classes too crowded. Facilities seem nice. Haven't seen all though.
