Dropped in for WOD while in town for a hockey tournament and had an awesome time at CrossFit North Star. The gym is super spacious, spotless, and loaded with well-maintained equipment, so everything you could need for a solid sweat session. Coaches and members were welcoming, and the pace of the workout was great. Caught a stunning sunrise through the windows to top it all off 🌅 highly recommend to anyone! ⭐️

My wife and I did a drop in class and were really impressed. CrossFit North Star is a really spacious and clean facility. We had the pleasure of Coach Drew running class and he wasn't just personable but very attentive with how he ran class (warm up, cool down, and technique). Great gym. Clean. Great coaching. Friendly members! We showed up right before class (always show up for a drop in class at least 10 mins in advance—we were delayed this morning so we arrived a lil stressed 😅) but we were still able to join class, warm up, and sweat! Box #172 - The Traveling CrossFitter

Ever walk into a gym and immediately feel like you accidentally crashed a fitness cult? Yeah, that’s not North Star CrossFit.

This place is the total opposite of those “look at my six-pack while I silently judge your squat form” gyms. The coaches here are awesome—knowledgeable, helpful, and somehow manage to push you without making you feel like you’re in a bootcamp run by a drill sergeant with a protein shake addiction.

The members? Equally great. No egos, no flexing in the mirror (okay, maybe a little, but like, in a fun way). Everyone’s super welcoming, whether you’re a first-timer who thinks burpees are a form of punishment (spoiler: they are), or a seasoned CrossFitter who just wants a solid community to train with.

If you’re looking for a gym where you can work hard, laugh a little, and not be judged for choosing the lightest kettlebell on day one—this is it. North Star CrossFit: where gains and good vibes go hand in hand.

One of the best fitness decisions I've made. Dana, and the coaching team are wonderful. The other folks at the gym are very warm, welcoming, and encouraging people. They all push me to work harder, but with enough support to make me feel at ease. This is a safe, and welcoming environment - completely due to the wonderful people here - both coaches, and colleagues. This is huge for someone like me who is getting back into being active, after having been sedentary for a long time. Before joining, I asked Dana a ton of questions, and she was patient with me, and answered every one of them, to make me feel comfortable in getting fitter here.

Dana took extra care, and effort to make me feel welcome, and I appreciate her attention to detail - to everyone. I don't know how she does it?

I dreaded going in to the classes as I was in awe (and still am) of the people here, and their amazing capabilities. They are humble, thoughtful, and supportive of each other. Above all else, their humanity, and sense of community really shines through. It is quite uncanny how quickly I felt at home here.

Best gym! I’m from NYC, but I dropped in for the month while taking care of family matters. Southpaw welcomed me with open arms. The team gave me a space to continue my fitness goals (and establish a sense of normalcy during time of heavy grief / pain). I’m really grateful for the coaches and programmed workouts. Gym itself is really nice, spacious, and clean. Equipment is A+. Coaches are knowledgeable and provide effective scaling options if you’re like me and not quite Rx but pushing for a challenge. Wish I could take the gym and coaches back to Brooklyn.

I have been very happy with Nick and his staff. I use CrossFit Southpaw to cross train for a master’s swimming program. I am 67, have had a total knee replacement, rotator cuff surgery and arthritis. Yet, I feel comfortable with the program and adapt when I need to. Do not be hesitant if you are inclined to CrossFit out.

So I had stayed out of the gym game for a bit, choosing to work out at home for the last 6 months or so because I've found gyms to be somewhat lacking in real community (unless you were already part of the crew), and short on the kind of detailed attention from a coach who is actually paying attention and looking to give you just the right tip at just the right time for a breakthrough.

I joined Crossfit Southpaw last week. Not only were all the instructors and gym goers warm and friendly, several took the time to go out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome me. The owner, Nick, has been checking in frequently with my progress. The 5am crew even threw some fun shade at me when I showed up at a 6am class, and pointed to their wrists to indicate I was late...haha! Fun, quality, intense, encouraging atmosphere.

If you've been on the fence, jump off it and join. I'll make sure to go out of my way to say hi...paying it forward.

CFSP was my first experience with a CrossFit gym and it was an incredible one! I started with almost no lifting experience but I immediately felt welcomed and a part of the community. I just joined this gym back in June, and it has been the BEST gym experience I have ever had!!! I actually was a part of a different fitness program and in the middle of a year long challenge but dropped out so I could explore CrossFit, and I have not looked back since! I love the variety of the workouts. The movements they teach are actually enjoyable and something I can enjoy, which makes going to the gym a lot easier! Even though I have been active my entire adult life (now 70), I had never tried CrossFit. Yes, there are members who have done CrossFit for a long time, but even if you are brand new to it, you will fit right in. The trainers are extremely competent, friendly and can offer many modifications. The members are very welcoming and everyone encourages everyone throughout the workouts. The gym is clean and very well run, everything is automated. What I really like is it is not just heavy lifting, there is lots of variety in the workouts; you will never be bored.

I dropped into CrossFit Southpaw this morning and I was so impressed by the space! It’s big and bright in there with tons of space for classes and open gym. The equipment is new and clean - I know that may be silly to write but I’ve visited many different CrossFit gyms where this isn’t the case, so I was excited to see all the nice looking equipment. I was greeted immediately by the coach, Andy, who showed me around and explained how class operated. Made the switch over to CFSP after relocating to the area. They were extremely good about communication and answering questions before I went and while getting into the swing of things there. The coaches are really tentative and also do a good job of making it fun. I was new crossfit when I found Southpaw. I met with a few other gyms but when I met with Nick I felt like this would be a good fit. Nick and the other coach's are fantastic! They really take the time to make it personal and walked me through the workouts and pushed me to grow and make changes to my lifestyle for the better. CrossFit SouthPaw... the place that changed my life. Being a hospitalist , working on all medical floors and ICU , it’s tiring. By the end of the day , it’s exhausting with little energy left. It’s hard to go on boring treadmills for hours long !
SP CrossFit opened up a whole new world to me. I found the daily brief intense different workouts extremely invigorating. These workouts are beautifully designed to energize your body and brain. I found myself thinking clear , more energetic, and feeling just awesome. The feeling you get after doing it ... is what keeps bringing you there over and over again. The coaches are excellent... the people are friendly. I have a whole new social life here ... with friends I could never make in my carrier.
It’s the one best thing I could have done in my life ... that I joined this box. Just love it !

Coaches:
The coaches at CrossFit Southpaw truly value you as a person and an Athlete. When I went to other gyms, there were many times where I just felt like another number walking into the gym and no one cared about me. The coaches know you by name, know things happening in your personal life, and they are invested in bettering your health, both mentally and physically.

Facility:
The facility is extremely clean, and all athletes ensure that they clean up any mess that they make. I also truly love the new 24-hour access for people. I have a very busy schedule and some days I cannot make the classes. The 24-hour access allows me to complete the WODs during my own time.

Overall, this gym is extremely fantastic. All the athletes are extremely supportive and it means a lot that they share in the same desire to improve their health.

If you are looking for a place to workout no matter what your skill level Southpaw is the place. Sure you can go to snap fitness or lifetime and do the same thing over and over again and again. Yeah CrossFit does cost a bit more than the “big box” gyms. I have been there. I went to lifetime, snap and other gyms for years. I decided I needed a change and walked in to a CrossFit box and I have to say I was a bit nervous. I have now been doing CrossFit for about 6 years and love it! I live 3 minutes away from a different Crossfit box, and 5-7 minutes away from 2 different Farrell's and a Fitaholic, but I drive the extra distance to get to Southpaw because I love it so much! The coaches are awesome and the community is the best! Well worth the extra drive time (even at 4:40 am)!

Six weeks ago I was brand new to CrossFit. Nick and the other coaches have helped me learn so many movements I had never done before. They will correct you until you are doing it properly or safely, or come up with a modification. 20 workouts in and they have all been intense regardless of my skill level with some of the exercises. There is a great vibe at Southpaw, it starts with the coaches and is enhanced by the big bright gym, and encouragement from fellow athletes.

Southpaw is an amazing community and definitely more than just a gym. The owner, coaches, and other athletes are very supportive and willing to answer any questions. Crossfit really is for every age and fitness level. I've been dealing with a knee injury for a couple years and I feel safe and confident working out at CFSP.
