I am a 59 year old male who has been out of shape for over 10 years. 5 weeks ago I decided if I am going to be healthy and fit enough to enjoy retirement in a few years, it was time to make a major change. I decided to do the Farrell's 10-week Fitness Challenge. I knew the only success I have ever had in getting fit is if I am part of a group and am told what to do.

The 1st week was rough and the second week was also rough. I started feeling muscles that I never knew existed. I thought maybe I injured my right bicep but the next day my left bicep had a similar pain which apparently was just my biceps being exercises and maybe growing.

On Tuesday of week 3, a couple hours after my morning workout, I felt the best that I have felt in 10 years and that "felt the best" is happening every day now. I am hooked on Farrell's in St Paul. The staff is amazing. They give great instruction and motivation. The other clients are also amazing and encouraging.

This morning in week 5, I had a mid-point body scan and I have lost significant body fat and have gained significant muscle. I know I made the right decision to live a longer, healthier life and I owe it to the team and other clients at Farrell's in St Paul! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

If you need a little nudge like I did, you will not regret stepping in and giving it a try.

Farrell’s Extreme Body Shaping in Saint Paul is the only place you can find people who care about you. I have been working out this gym for many years, and I am so impressed with the results. So very GLBTQ-friendly and welcoming!
Love this kickboxing-classes gym with great music during their classes! Very beginner friendly to everyone. This is the location on Selby Ave in St Paul, and it is so much fun! Every other day is weightlifting classes, and included with the membership is nutrition coaching. Incredibly positive coaches with so much experience. Classes are available Monday-Saturday in the mornings and in the late afternoon/evening. Online classes are also available. Weightlifting is with dumbbells and exercise bands, which promotes great results. No direct sparring (whew!) but rather, you often pair up and share a punching bag (often one person is punching/kicking while the other person does body-weight exercises). Lots of diversity in the classes: Black, white, hIspanic, LGBTQ+, all ages, teachers, nurses, social workers, electricians, overweight, fit…and they are incredibly open to newbies—don’t think that you have to be an amazing expert to start here. :-) They often have specials where you can get the first week free to try it out! They often have 10-week challenges (one person at the location wins $1000!) but you can join in at any time. Most people don’t wait for a challenge to start classes, they just start coming, and then join a challenge when one comes up (about four times a year). Classes are “gamified” in a really fun way that I’ve never seen before, there is email (and Facebook group) support, and everything is done to make the classes as effective, safe, fun, and supportive as possible. Wow!

That’s me in the picture. You can’t really tell in the photo, but I’ve lost my Covid-gut in the 2 months I’ve been going! It’s been incredibly good for my mental health, which in turn helps me be not only more effective at work, but also be a more patient and positive family member.

I had no idea what kickboxing was at first when I was dragged to my first class by my roommate, I'm like "what the heck is this I'm a lover not a fighter" and then I got roped into this "10 week challenge" thing by this super friendly dude named TJ and then next thing I know I'm attending kickboxing and strength training classes every week and WOW has it done wonders to my physical and mental health! The manager, Krystal, has been so nice to me, all of the instructors have been so encouraging, and my peers who have been attending class alongside me have been a joy to slowly grow closer to over the course of the 10 weeks. Highly recommend even if you don't know a lick about kickboxing. S/O to Donna who instructed my first class so well that she got me to drink the kool-aid (also, without knowing a single thing about me, she correctly guessed that I used be a dancer!!)

Who knew working out so hard could be so much fun? The instructors, coaches, and even the other students are all really helpful, positive, and supportive. As a former college athlete (and coach), Farrell's is the best all around workout I've ever had! With the 45 minute class/session of dynamic stretching, cardio (kickboxing) and strength training (dumbells or resistance bands) program, I accomplish more than I have/would in a 2 hour "gym" session. Big plus is dietary coaching!! Down 20lbs and increased a lot of muscle in 4 months! The owners, instructors and members are amazing!! I passed by Farrell's for several months on my way to dance classes down the street, always aware of it and feeling curious, but without the proper motivation to learn more.

Finally, after enough wondering, I called in and scheduled a trial week. I had been working on improving my overall health and well-being for a while on my own, and decided to see what it was like to work with a more established process/organization to further my goals and better understand the steps needed to meet them.

The staff at Farrell's were very helpful and welcoming. They answered all my questions, worked with me to get me oriented and set up for success. With a bit of hesitation, due to time constraints, I did end up staying as a member, thanks in a large part to the wide range of scheduled sessions and the great community.

I am glad I took a chance and came to Farrell's. I feel welcomed, motivated, and ready to step forward towards a better relationship with my body and my health. 💙

I've been searching for years for a sustainable fitness program. I heard great things from others about Farrell's but I was a little gun shy after a terrible experience with a large nation wide gym and a comment from one of their trainers. I saw Farrell's had a location only a few miles from my house and reached out for more information. I heard from someone almost immediately asking if I wanted to come in and meet with someone. I was a little nervous, and apprehensive, but let me tell you from the moment I walked in the door I felt comfortable. I explained what I was looking for and Sarah did a great job of telling me a little bit about the program but also about the culture and environment. It was critical for me that I be able to go somewhere where I wasn't going to be intimidated by others or self conscious about my current fitness level. Farrell's STP is that and MORE. The instructors do a great job of providing modifications when you need it. They are supportive and encouraging as are the members working out along side you. If you are looking for a place that feels like you are a part of a family, where they are genuinely interested in helping you be successful in whatever your goals are, this is the place!

FXB St. Paul is a truly amazing and special place. I found it sort of by happy accident. At 10:30 on the night before the Summer 10 Week Challenge began, based on a really quick conversation with a friend I signed up. It sounded like it might be a fun way to get into better shape...honestly I doubted I'd even stick with it for the 10 weeks...definitely had no clue that I'd found a whole community of wonderful people that would become such an important, fun part of my life, but that's exactly what happened...plus I've gotten fantastic physical results and a sustainable new fitness and nutrition lifestyle that I love. FXB's program combines high intensity cardio kickboxing (which is a blast even though I'm a total spazz half the time) with strength training, both of which they make super fun, which is really important to me...we laugh and smile together and feel great about it all. I've never ever stuck with a strength training program before this, but I actually really look forward to my workouts at FXB! My physical results during the 10 week challenge were straight up astounding. I lost 18 pounds, 8% body fat and gained some muscle....in just 10 weeks! My strength and endurance improved drastically....over 3 minutes knocked off my mile run time (don't stress, they only have you do a mile run twice during the 10 weeks!) More importantly I found a fitness and nutrition lifestyle that I enjoy and will definitely stick with for the long run and I found and connected with a whole community of like minded people, both staff (I could go on for another 10,000 words about how amazing every single instructor is....they're all super) and other members. It's hard to describe but EVERYONE involved is a part of and contributes to this super special feeling of being a part of something really cool, supportive, fun and rewarding. Just give it a try, go in for a workout or just give them a call.

I’ve been exercising here 4-6 times a week for over a year and a half*. The program here is immensely satisfying: alternating between kickboxing and weightlifting just feels good. If that even sounds interesting I would recommend walking in the door and giving it a try. I’ve never felt better.

*They also offer classes on Zoom where you shadowbox and use whatever equipment you have at home to strength train. I managed to keep fit even during lockdown.

I have been to a few different kickboxing studios and this one is by far my favorite. I love how they rotate between weightlifting and kickboxing days. I get a great workout in everyday. Everyone is super friendly and it truly is a no judgement supportive community.

I love this place. The way the program is set up is the perfect balance of accountability without feeling like a boot camp. No shame. No judgements. No gimmicks. Just a ton of folks who all have the same goal, and the crew that wants to get us there.

It's a magical combination of inspiration that fuels my own drive, rather than feeling like I am being dragged along. Most importantly, there's a community that is accepting and supportive no matter your struggles. The workouts are crazy fun, effective, and the coaches to help whenever I need a tip on form or help with my nutrition. Best. Gym. EVER! The staff are friendly, knowledgable, encouraging and understanding. The community here is strong and uplifting. When I first joined a year ago, I thought there was no way that I'd be able to workout 6 days a week and here I am now, craving it every single day! If you're interested in learning more about nutrition and how to fuel your body, learning how to lift heavy things, having emotional support, making new friends and getting out tons of stress by hitting and kicking a bag, Farrell's is your best option. I joined Farrell's Saint Paul 2 months and 8 days ago, and I have already lost 15.2 lbs! I had hit my highest weight ever and was ready to make a change. I requested info from Farrell's and was in for my first free class the next day. I've been a member at another kickboxing-based fitness center before, and I immediately could tell that Farrell's will take me to the next level. I love the strength training classes in addition to kickboxing, and the nutrition guidance has helped me so much to learn how to better fuel my body and feel well nourished even at a calorie deficit with my personal goal to lose body fat. The biggest thing that is hard to explain until you experience it yourself is the AMAZING community. Every single manager, coach, and fellow member truly cares about everyone's success and supports each other through the highs and lows of the journey to better health. I could not be more thankful to have changed my life with Farrell's help!

I really enjoyed punching and kicking during class time. I'm sore the next day a good sign. Cons: this place needs a marketing director. I asked (during my free week) if I could come in , stay in the back and just do my own thing, punching and kicking, just not following the routine, and the response was to them and Haw and haw respond with a not really, um idk.
What? Also they allow socks or bare feet on the work out floor, bare feet(germs and just gross) so I gave them a 3 out of 5.

This place is just truly amazing, super fun and supportive. The staff and owner are all truly engaged wonderful people. It’s not simply a workout, it’s a whole lifestyle and fun, supportive community. I’ve only been involved at FXBSP for about 4 weeks but I feel very much a part of a magical community and it feels like something I want to be a part of forever. Their 10 week challenge is a well rounded kickboxing, strength and nutrition lifestyle program that is actually really fun and easy to stay with and sustain. I absolutely love the kickboxing workouts, the nutrition philosophy and...amazing for me to be saying: the strength training! I’ve hated weights and strength training my whole life, but at FXB that’s even a blast. Btw, they keep the joint very clean and sanitized.

This is an awesome gym! The owners and staff at Farrell's go above and beyond your typical gym. They not only provide amazing weight training and kickboxing classes, they offer nutrition, coaching, and a super positive community. They are incredibly supportive and help you reach your goals whatever they may be. Even during quarantine, they were quick to provide a ton of virtual resources for members which was so nice to have (and continue to have) during a very uncertain time!
