I was a customer here for several years and have always paid for a prepay massage , after a massage. I did last time I was there several months ago. I tried to book online but it was prompting me to pay - even though I have massage in my account. I have called this business several times , left 3 voicemails, and sent an email asking for help with this- over the last few weeks. Zero response. I guess I won’t be able to use my massage - not sure what is going on there but it is not ok for a business to ignore customers.

To get it out of the way this place has been great in the past and Julie B is a fantastic massage therapist but with COVID shutting down Fitness 1st last year apparently their prices have been adjusted since they reopened, which is absolutely understandable.

My concern is that I had purchased a 90 minute massage in advance a few years back and now they will only honor the monetary amount instead of honoring the 90 minute massage. The business should provide services for something that was purchased in advance instead providing a dollar for dollar credit. I would never have purchased that massage in advance if I had known that. There is no point in doing such a thing. It is unfortunate the owner decided to take this route as it is a bad business practice. The gentleman on the phone explained that is what the owner decided on and that is what they are sticking with. I requested a refund to my card instead. I will definitely miss this place and Julie's exceptional massages.

I'm sorry you've had to adjust for COVID related issues but at the same time you need to honor past purchases.

Been there twice. First time, the male therapist stepped out a few times to text someone. He also reeked like cigarette smoke and coffee, highly unprofessional. Second time, kept asking for more pressure and it just felt like a cat walking on my back. Then on the way out, tried charging me extra. PLEASE save your money and time!!!!

I try to go once or twice a year. I always use Julie B. now. I strongly suggest the 90 minute massage. You'll not regret the extra 30 minutes Julie is a level 2 upgrade. Be aware there is an up charge for a level 2 and another up charge if you want a level 3. I have but tried a level 3 yet. They have hot stone massage as well. I tried once and It just wasn't my thing but many love it. I just prefer a deep tissue massage.

Two cancels in two weeks from their massage therapists (Jeremy and a female who was pregnant). One at least gave us a two hour warning but the other cancelled by phone as my fiancΓ© was sitting in their lobby (on our wedding day). Great deals on massages if you pre-pay but not worth the headache of scheduling and then being cancelled on. Have used Steve on multiple occasions and he is great at his job - sorry we won't be back but I just won't support this business any longer.

Good place to come for a massage. You get a large discount if you pre-pay, which is nice! I have seen several massage therapists here and have had good experiences with all of them, but I especially appreciated my massage with Gemar today.

Luckily I was able to get in for a 30 minute appointment (I usually do 60 minutes) after calling this morning - I've been having some pretty bad neck and back pain. Gemar wasn't afraid to use pressure, which was just what I needed. I'm feeling better already! They also play relaxing music during your massage. Recommended.

I would not recommend. My 23 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER had a deep tissue massage which was good but before she got to her car the guy she had looked her up on Facebook and wanted to friend her. Very unprofessional!!

Sounds like the lady in the front needs to be gone or else you guys will be rated at 1 star. Was looking forward to coming but I might just change my mind due to all these complaints about the front desk. GET RID OF HER or lose your clients.

Five stars is not enough , I got a 60 min massage from Pan yesterday and cannot say enough positive things about my experience. She explained my problem areas, told me how to prevent them from getting bad again, and worked out areas on my lower back that had been painful for do long that I had just gotten used to it. I've also been having chronic migraines and was planning on taking Advil after my massage but there was no need! I'll be making the drive from Mankato just to see her in the future. HIGHLY recommend

Massage was good, girl at front desk was on her phone with feet up when I got there and when I went back after my massage to pay. She messed up the first time and had to cancel my charge and start all over.

I had been going to Fitness First for a while and though they did a great job for the cost however when I missed my appointment due to emergency surgery on a large lump in my breast they did not care and had no problem keeping my prepaid money for missing an appointment. Tyler is very rude, disrespectful, and just know that I will not ever be returning.

It was a nice place. Not great. Nice. I had an appointment set up with a woman but when got there was assigned a male. I have never been good at voicing things so I did not say anything on it. Most of the massage was fine. He was a bit too chatty for my liking. I just wanted to relax. When he got to my back I was not happy. I just wanted a simple relaxing massage but most of my back is now bruised and I am quite sore now(the day after). This was my first massage so I might not have the best opinion. Just make sure to use your voice. If it is too hard tell him, unless want to be bruised.

Scheduled online to be with Julie, received a confirmation email stating that she is a level 2 and there would be an extra charge. Fine. I arrived to the appointment and told I was with a male therapist. I mentioned that i was scheduled with Julie but the receptionist simply said i don’t see any note about the therapist being changed. So, that was super helpful.

I decide to go ahead with the massage since i had been looking forward to it for a week. The therapist was nice but this man would make even the hulk cry. At first the pressure was good as he was getting knots out of my back and shoulders but when he moved to my arms and legs i would wince in pain. It seemed like he was massaging as hard as he could with his knuckles. I have had plenty of professional massages and never had knuckles been used. There was not a single moment of relaxation to this massage. I have had deep tissue massages before but this was on another level.

To sum it up, i walked out of my massage more tense and tight than i was before my appointment. I will definitely find somewhere else to go that will not leave bruises on my body.

Appointment was on time and therapist was professional. Front desk staff had her lunch sitting out and half paid attention, she was very unprofessional. No sales pitch so that was nice. Massage by Steve was a bit rough. It was a good hurt at the time but by the time I was home I was very sore. Next day every place he worked is bruised internally.

I really loved my experience at Fitness 1st. I initially found the place from a Groupon, and then was introduced to the returning customer discounted massage deal. Being a broke college student, the low cost massages have me hooked. I have been with Marcie a few times now and she is so great! She really knows what she is doing from a relaxing massage to targeting certain problem areas. She is a level 2, but definetly worth the upcharge. The 'Levels' were a little confusing at first, but I think if you are getting a massage at such a discount anyways and the Therapist has a certain amount of experience they should be paid more.

The massage rooms are only separted from the fitness center by glass, so the rooms are not completely silent. Although it is not too distracting.

Been here a couple of times based on Groupon recommendations. Surprising never knew this place was so close by in Blaine. Though Blaine is just saturated with massage places. This place doesn't really stick out as "special" in any regards. Quite hard to find and a appointment based place.

So it's true according to Janelle's review if you purchased one after you finished you may purchase another massage at half the price again. Now the half price is $35 for 60 minutes and $49 for the 90 minutes. Which doesn't seem like a bad deal. If you are a Groupon make sure you bring money because the groupon doesn't cover tax.

As for you phone number and email it seemed necessary and a nice reminder but they will spam you to download their "app." On top of that they require that if you're a a first time client to go in an sign up a clip board full of questions.

Now some seem necessary like where do you have pain and are you allergic to anything. All other questions seem very irrelevant. I've been to at least 10 different massage places throughout Minneapolis and as high end as Men's Spa is you don't sign up for this stuff more spam and gimmick I'm certain in the future for me. They're not medical professional seem very spam like again.

Lastly, If you have the Groupon or like myself signed up for another massage be careful and understand what the different "levels," mean. At first when I purchased my Groupon I had imagined that the levels which went from 1.2, & 3 meant the level of skills the massage therapist were. NO! I had to pry a lot of information out of the receptionist, the more I ask the more nervous they became and just unwilling to answer my questions. The levels for anything above 2 is $5 per level but then they charged $15 for a level 3?! How does that work?? My level 1 doesn't even get charged but by level 3 it's 3x5? SCAM and unethical business practice. The math doesn't even make sense!

Next catch, the therapist like Massage Envy are all employees. None of them get paid anymore for the levels for my understanding. Likewise, this means the owners are adding an additional cost to YOU for no reason, why? Because my level 1 was better than level 3 and that the levels were essentially made up based on length of time worked and hours worked. Shame on them. The levels actually cause the therapist less clients especially if they're guy therapist. Don't let anyone lie to you as a new client about paying their therapist more for any reason. There isn't one.

If you're new to this place go somewhere else and avoid them. At all cost. Even if it's half priced on Groupon. The service was nice from the therapist though, enough for 1 star since it's the lowest.

I drove from Minneapolis to Fitness 1st to cash in on their Groupon for a massage a couple months ago. I have been meaning to write this review since then because I absolutely loved my massage by Jon. It was the perfect sports massage. I had an injury going into it from running and he focused in and within a week it felt so much better. I highly recommend going to Jon for any sort of deep tissue or sports massage - you won't regret it!

This was my 3rd massage over 9 months at Fitness 1st. While the massages have always been good to great, the atmosphere has improved dramatically.

There is now a glass wall separating the massage area from the fitness, which dampened (but not completely cut out) the noise. There is now also a glass door separating the massage area from reception.

Reception has improved as well; while I usually get an answering machine to schedule, they call back quickly.

Also, I love their continuing deal for 1st time & returning customers of half off the price for a massage.

If they read these reviews, I might recommend still-better sound dampening or absorption; the weight machines can still be clearly heard.
