I never thought I’d be the type of person to have a personal trainer, but working with Chad has completely changed that. He’s the first trainer I’ve ever worked with, and from day one he made the process approachable and motivating.

After just a few months, I started noticing real results — not only in how I looked, but in how much stronger and more confident I felt. Now, a full year into training with Chad, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. My friends have even started commenting on how great I look and how consistent I’ve become with my fitness routine.

Update to my earlier review:
Working with Chad over the last 4 years has almost entirely healed my shoulder injury from a car accident 16 years ago. I absolutely would not be where I am today without his training and expertise. Not only is my shoulder better, but my overall strength and cardio fitness have improved so much. Chad has equipped me with the knowledge and confidence I needed to be able to comfortably navigate weight lifting on my own without the fear of injuring myself. I'm really grateful for his support and encouragement over the years. If you're looking for a personal trainer who knows his stuff and will push you to hit your goals— Chad is THE guy.

Working with Chad has been one of the best decisions and valuable personal investments I've ever made. Over the last 12 years I struggled with a shoulder injury from a car accident and didn't have much success with physical therapy, so it never healed well. I had constant pain, trouble sleeping, and started to become limited in many basic yoga poses. The worst part of it all was that my shoulder kept dislocating if I moved it the wrong way. After working with Chad over the last 9 weeks my upper shoulder and neck pain have drastically improved, I've become noticeably stronger, more flexible, and have gained a lot of my range of motion back that I had lost. Most of all though I've gained so much confidence in myself and the ability to heal my body and ultimately avoid having surgery. These are all huge accomplishments for me and I couldn't have done it without him. Chad's hyper-attention to detail, passion, empathy, and contagious energy make him such a unique and amazing trainer. I can't express how grateful I am to now have a current plan as well as a long-term strategy to achieve my overall fitness goals. I like to think of Chad as the older brother I never wanted, but really needed in my life...someone to really push me hard and not let me cut corners, but who also wants to see me succeed and celebrate my wins. Chad will get you to your goals, period. Training with him, you’ll get a highly personalized plan that he designs and adjusts for each individual. A lot of trainers and gyms give the same workouts to every client, but I’ve never felt like I’ve gotten that from Chad. He listens, adjusts and keeps a level of focus when he’s with me that I’ve just not found elsewhere. I’ve been training with him for almost a year and I’m stronger than I ever thought possible for my body type. He’s also helped me work through areas of chronic pain to build strength and pliability that has reduced pain and helped me with functionality in other life settings. Y’all, I could rave about Chad nonstop! He checked all the boxes I was looking for in a personal trainer and then some. Chad is an empathetic listener who can easily meet you wherever you’re at. He immediately understood my goals & formulated the perfect long term plan to make it happen. I also really appreciate that he does text check ins every few days; I feel cared about! I wanted to hire a trainer who loves what they do, and you can absolutely tell that he does. He’s super fun, upbeat, encouraging & makes me laugh regularly. But I think one of the most appealing things for me about Chad is that he is the essence of non-toxic masculinity, which is a quality that is super important to me, especially in a gym environment. Over the past couple decades I’ve observed training techniques in gyms of varying intensity and size, across the country and abroad, and inevitably observed wide-varying abilities of personal trainers. I can count on one hand the trainers I’ve observed who seem truly engaged with their clients, and really care about the discipline of personal training. Chad is one of them.

My specific need was analysis of several heavier – compound – lifts I had stopped progressing on, and was concerned with avoiding cumulative stress and injury. So, an acute prescription, not necessarily conventional, ongoing, periodic training. For my need, Chad dissected my technique, and identified my weak spots. Chad did not pander to my strengths and reinforce bad habits; rather, specific feedback for improvement. And I mean specific: down to muscles I had not considered as hinderances to my progress (teres minor anyone?). In my opinion, this is what an A+ trainer will provide… the ability to identify unproductive patterns, analysis, and personalized feedback for realistic, accessible “pivots” for improvement. I personally did not require a revolutionary change in my training, and Chad provided the subtle feedback and tweaks that I believe will enable me to a next level of strength.

Immediate red flags I’ve noticed in other trainers are:
- Disengagement with their clients during sessions (shocking but common),
- Instructing “novelty” exercises I never really seem to see any fit people doing on their own. I'm continuously baffled that trainers spend valuable sessions on activities not really proven to show meaningful results.
- Inability to personalize a clear objective.

My immediate impression of Chad is no-nonsense. No wasted, time, energy, or money. Once I communicated my objective, Chad worked toward my specific need, not some prescription of what a majority of clients need, or just his opinion of what I need. In my sessions we dug right into the squat, deadlift, bench, pull-ups… tried and true productive & efficient movements for strength and overall fitness. If I were to engage with a trainer on an ongoing basis, I trust Chad would provide a platform for consistent, progressive improvement. I can’t even imagine he would be satisfied with idling through sessions, or aimless training not specific to a personal objective.

I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better trainer in Mpls… really, probably anywhere in the Midwest. Formulate an objective, call the man, get to work!

I have tried to join a gym and start a work out routine more times than I can count, each time I do I lose motivation and end up wasting money. I’ve tried personal trainers in the past but nothing really clicked. Then I saw Chad working with some clients and got curious. Let me say that I have never in my life felt more motivated and seen more results till I started working with Chad. He is extremely meticulous and so in tune with the body. I swear this man has x-ray vision. I say that because he is so fine tuned that even if I apply pressure to my feet the wrong way, he will see it and correct it. Chad l led the body and can guide you through work outs in a way that you hit muscles you didn’t even know you have. I got my friend to join and she has suffered with a really bad shoulder, because of that she’s been scared to work out. He’s been formulating a work out plan that is going to solve her issues by creating strength where she lost it from trying to baby her shoulder. She’s seen every specialist for this and this is the first time she is actually seeing her shoulder heal. Of all the trainers I have ever had, Chad is by far the best. The results I’m seeing in my body are things I have never ever seen. Not only am I seeing results but I know if I continue to work with him, I am going to get better results than I ever dreamed of. I need someone who holds me accountable and he does that so effortlessly. Chad is not just doing this as a job, he is truly committed to his craft. You can tell that with each person he trains, he is there 100% of the way with you. I’m such a fan of his work that I’ve been raving about him and his work to everyone I meet. I believe in his skills so much that I’m getting all my friends to join with him. I can’t say enough good things about his work and him as a person. I hope to train with him for a long time. If you’re even thinking about getting a trainer, set up a consultation with him and you will see right away how incredible he is. I feel spoiled because I truly think I have one of the best trainers in town.

Before I trained with Chad I had NO experience with personal training, let alone lifting at a gym. However, after a bad neck injury, that would not heal, I was forced to look for creative ways to recover. One of my friends recommended Chad Bodhi and honestly it was an answer to prayer. Chad was able to pinpoint, within our first session, the muscle groups that were not working properly and gave me exercises to strengthen them. Within a couple of weeks of training with him my neck issues vanished, and my posture and overall feeling of health was unexpectedly improved. I quickly signed up with him for more sessions and the overall results of my training with him was beyond my expectations. I now LOVE going to the gym and actually know what to do when I am there.

If you want someone that is caring, hardworking and will keep you motivated and focused! This is the personal trainer for you. He wants the best for you and wants you to be successful. I have been with Chad for a year or so and he's honestly helped me become both mentally and physically stronger. Chad is enthusiastic and energetic in his training. He really believes in his clients and pushes them to their full potential. In a matter of days after training with Chad, I felt stronger and more motivated to meet my goals.
There were times when I felt pushed a bit beyond my means though and was left so sore that working out became less fun for me.
This became more of a problem in myself of simply finding the type of exercise that I really had fun doing in order to make it a regular habit. I trained with weekly with Chad for several months. I came to him as a middle-aged desk-rider with poor posture and little understanding of gym equipment. Over the months, Chad trained and educated me by designing workouts to remediate my posture, build core strength and general fitness. I saw results. I would have continued to work with Chad indefinitely if we were both still able to be at the same gym. While I still have the body of an middle-aged desk worker, I do sit straighter and I’m in better shape. Most importantly, Chad instilled in me in the habit of regular exercise and probably added a few years to my life.

If you make the prudent decision to train with Chad, you will get a knowledgeable and supportive fitness guide who will help you achieve your fitness goals. Chad is fierce; he lives what he preaches. A little over a year ago I decided I want to become more fit and get bigger. I briefly started by youtubing things and trying it out on my own but felt like I wasn't doing things quite right. That was when I met Chad Johnson for consultation and we started working together. And I'm so glad that happened.

Chad was very patient and excellent in training for people from various background, for me personally it was an absolute beginner. Not only can he show you the fundamental things that apply to all workout of chest, back, shoulders, legs; he can show you how those muscles work together and advanced techniques to target specific goals.

There are many trainers out there that can simply teach you how to deadlift, squats, or doing various exercise properly.

However, what you will get with Chad... with his many years of experience, is that he will recognize what is right for you. He will recognize your weaknesses, strength, or any other concerns that may come up and he will show you the way to work on those. (One specific thing we worked on is that I have a posterior pelvic tilt that makes it hard for me to keep my lower back straight when doing deadlifts or bent over-row. He showed me various things I can do that helped me improved over time)

My goals were more focused on strength training, however Chad is also very good with condition training. As someone who used to run marathons, I thought I was in very good condition, Chad found many ways to challenge me and help me improve on those areas as well. He cares about over-all fitness.

Aside from the exercises, he's a very good guy to have around. He's care about your improvement and will motivate you. I highly recommend him as a trainer.

And even if you are unsure whether you need one, you'll be surprise how much you can learn from him.
