As a beginner I felt very comfortable going to Freebs! Not only did I get hands on help from Melissa, she gave me lists and reps and dialed me in to what I should be doing and working on. Hands down best atmosphere, staff and equipment! They are always doing new and exciting things around there!

I’ve been going to Freebs for a couple years now and absolutely couldn’t see myself any other place. In the past I’ve tried the other gyms in town and nothing compares to Freebs quality, whether it’s the quality of the gym, staff, or equipment, it’s all top notch. On top of that they are consistently adding to the gym which keeps things exciting, I’m eager to see what comes in the future and highly recommend Freebs fitness.

There aren’t words that can describe how pleased I am with my experience at Freebs Fitness; however, I will try! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms by the owners and treated like family. The gym is always clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized—everything you need for a great workout.

What really sets Freebs apart is the atmosphere. I have been to gyms from Oregon to Maine and everywhere in between. There’s a strong sense of community here that you don’t find at most gyms. Everyone—from the staff to the members—is friendly, supportive, and genuinely wants to see you succeed. It’s the kind of place where people remember your name, cheer you on, and make you look forward to going to the gym.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE GOING TO FREEBS fitness MELISSA and the staff is amazing and very kind very clean gym and equipment it’s like you are family when you walk in. I also love they have tanning right in the building so you aren’t having to go somewhere else to tan and the fact she’s adding on putting a sauna and even more stuff. She also has shakes and teas down stairs which are amazing as well very tasty.
I haven’t been there in awhile with a recent accident but once I’m able to walk again I’ll definitely be back so here’s a photo of when I was going you can see how clean the gym is kept.

If you’re looking for a gym that’s clean enough to eat off the floor (not that I recommend that after leg day), look no further. This place is spotless — like, “your mom would approve” spotless. The green color scheme is oddly energizing too. It’s like working out inside a giant kale leaf, and honestly, I’m here for it.

The staff? Super friendly. They somehow manage to be both motivational and not overly peppy — a rare balance. They’ll help you lift without making you feel like you’re in a protein powder commercial.

And the owner? Absolute legend. Always around, always approachable, and genuinely cares about the place and the people. You can tell it’s not just a business—it’s a passion project fueled by dumbbells and good vibes.

Bonus points for the protein shop tucked away in the basement. It’s like a secret lair for your post-workout gains. Smoothies, snacks, and enough protein options to make a chicken nervous.

Oh—and let’s talk about the upcoming addition and saunas. I’m already mentally sweating in excitement. The only thing better than a good lift is melting into a sauna afterward like a responsible, sore adult. Can’t wait.

Freebs is amazing! I went there for about 6 months and only stopped because it was too hard to get there with 2 little kids driving 15 minutes one way! This gym is super well maintained. It sports an amazing staff and helpful clientele that will make you feel welcome. The owners prioritize their clients and are always thinking of ways to improve the customer experience.

The tanning beds are also very well maintained. You can go to a different tanning salon, tan 5 times and not get the results that you get from Freebs.

Freeb’s is a vibe! Melissa is truly a gem! You want to get your workout on? Melissa will be there cheering for you. You want to get the best spray tan around? Melissa is so fantastic at it, people won’t believe it when you tell them it’s just a spray. You want the best tanning beds on the Iron Range? Freeb’s has that too, and they’re well maintained. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! Always the highlight of my day walking in and chatting with Melissa. We’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together. She’s truly an amazing human, and is running a wonderful small business.

It's tough to give a gym a good review because it's better when no one else is there, but I love this spot. I've been through a good number of gyms, but often, weightlifting isn't prioritized. It's typically treated like a thing that is offered because it has to be. This is a lifter gym. They offer tanning and some protein products, which is great if you're crashing or forget your pre-workout. It has 24 access to most places. The amount of machines, handles, and options is pretty impressive. Dumbbells could be a little heavier. They go up to 100lbs, but again, there are tons of options.

In 2004 I was in a horrible head on collision that almost claimed my life. Many broken bones, numerous surgeries and a lot of rehab ahead of me. Along with my physical therapy, I had hired Melissa to help me with my rehabilitation. Melissa took the time to listen to everything that I had gone through and came up with exercise routine that would best suite me. We spent many months working together. Some days were harder than others. But Melissa was patient and helped me through my discouragement. On the days I wanted to quit, she would remind me of how far I've come and to continue to fight for the outcome I was looking for. Freebs Fitness and Tanning is an atmosphere of support, empowerment, inspiration, and knowledge- what to tell us to do to get to where we want to be. If you are looking to achieve goals the owner / physical trainer is incredibly knowledgeable about how to get a plan together to help you get there. They arm you with what you need to know and motivate you to come back because not only is it actually very enjoyable but their clients are amazing too! It's like a family. I'm 45 and have had seven babies. I lost a hundred and fifty pounds and I'm now getting my body into the best shape I've ever been in my life! In the 3 years I have been getting my sweat on at this gym, I have met so many amazing people. If you are looking for somewhere to go and just bust out a good session, or meet up with like minded fitness friends, this is the place to be! Everyone is very welcoming and non-judgmental. The gym seems a little small at first but when you start working out you realize how well organized everything is and just how much they do have. The pricing for the gym is right on the money and the quality of the equipment is awesome. It also is in the perfect building and wouldn't be surprised if they expanded the gym to be the biggest in Hibbing.

It is a great gym and I wouldn't be surprised if they over took snap or anytime fitness in the near future.

Love Freebs! The facility is clean and there is a great variety of workout equipment for everyone. Also, the tanning beds here are in excellent shape. This is without a doubt my favorite gym in town and I've been to the others. The people are friendly, the staff is knowledgeable and it has a very welcoming atmosphere. Wonderful facility! My husband and I are in town for 2-3 months and Melissa and Brian have been beyond accommodating. With affordable rates, the gym and equipment are clean and in great condition. There's a good variety of machines as well as a large selection of free weights and kettle bells.

Freebs has an extremely welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff. The freedom to workout with 24/7 access is a huge plus!
