I’ve been working with Jason from Higher Power Training as my nutrition coach, and I can honestly say it’s been a game changer. I had been stuck at an unhealthy weight and couldn’t get it to budge. I’ve completed both his detox and lifestyle programs, and the results have been amazing. When I follow the program, the progress is unbelievable — my weight loss, energy, and body composition have all improved so much.

I have been training at HPT since it opened. It is the best facility I have ever trained at! Clean, well equipped with plenty of room to work. Their trainers are in a league of their own! My trainer, Dallas, is the best. He is very knowledgeable and teaches strict form. His programs have allowed me to quickly recover from a serious injury and helped me avoid further injuries. I’ve been training 1-on-1 with Dallas Westergren for over a year, and the difference he’s made in how I feel about myself, my body, and my overall approach to fitness has been incredible. From day one, he was able to pinpoint the small adjustments I needed to get the most out of each workout. He explains things in a way that’s easy to understand and always takes the time to demonstrate proper form himself, which makes learning so much more effective.

Dallas is also extremely knowledgeable about physiology and anatomy, and he has a relatable way of explaining the scientific parts of proper fitness. He takes concepts that might seem overwhelming and makes them easy to understand and practical to apply, so I know exactly why I’m doing something and how it benefits me in the moment. His attention to detail shows every session - he often observes subtle issues with my form right after a set, gives clear feedback, and encourages me to keep improving on the next round to maximize my workout.

The effort Dallas puts into every session motivates me to match that same effort in my workouts. He often knows when to push me further with his signature phrase, “You think you could go up on that?” Over time, those small, incremental, low-pressure nudges have delivered real results for me.

I started out reluctant and even intimidated by the idea of working out with a personal trainer, but my physical and mental health was doing so much better after training with Dallas that I eventually doubled my sessions to twice a week. He consistently emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition and always keeps my best interests in mind. Now I’m always looking forward to gym day.

I came to Higher Power obese with a shoulder injury where I couldn’t do 2 push ups off of a kitchen counter. Before starting with Jason at Higher Power Training in April 2025, I was seeing a rheumatologist every 3 to 6 months for chronic inflammation and joint pain. I was constantly fatigued and often lacked the energy to attend even family events. Despite years of trying, I struggled to lose weight and improve my overall health.

That all changed when I started working with Jason. Within the first month, my energy levels skyrocketed—I’m now active and doing something every weekend! For years I’ve battled with back pain and injury. Recently, I “threw my back out” once again. Instead of searching out more of the passive therapies such as massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc, I decided to try getting stronger instead. My trainer, Alex Nash, understood my needs and how to push me without irritating my back or causing more pain. He used unique variations on old exercises as well as teaching me a bunch of new techniques I didn’t know. My goal was to be able to live pain free, pick my kids up off the floor, and train jiu jitsu again. Alex took me from having persistent pain and struggling to do the things I love all the way to being pain free and stronger than I was before, all within about 2 months and 15 personal training sessions. Even though I feel great, I am continuing to train with Alex because I see the cost of personal training as the cost of having a high quality of life. I’ve been dealing with a bad lower back since high school (over 20 years ago). I have used chiropractic care with good results, however over the past 18 months my lower back and hips continually got worse.

After getting a MRI, I found that I had multiple disc bulges and a few other issues. I have medical insurance, but it’s a high deductible plan and I knew it would cost a lot of money to do 2-3 months of physical therapy. I heard that Jason Ivesdahl specializes in back therapy and I needed help badly.

Jason is absolutely fantastic! He took the time to analyze my MRI, did an assessment of my physical condition and immediately put me on a training plan of 10-12 exercises to do (along with showing me what exercises NOT to do!). Within two weeks I felt about 60-70% better. During each training session he switched things up to make them “harder”, which has greatly improved my physical condition.

I can now get up and down without any pain or grimacing. I finally feel like I have much better control of my lower back pain and will continue to work with Jason in the future to stay ahead of my aging body and disc issues.

I've been working out with the trainers at Higher Power Training for over a decade. The staff there is very knowledgable and encouraging. Jason, the owner, really knows his stuff. I have several injuries, and he is very good at knowing how to adapt the exercises/weights to not aggravate my injuries, and in fact to coax my injuries along to actually get better over time. His other trainers are also excellent. If you talk with Jason, he is good at suggesting which trainer would be a good fit for you. Higher Power Training also has a 10 day and 3 week detox program that I've done a few times and, with the trainer's encouragement, have been able to successfully complete -- resulting in lost body fat, lost pounds, and feeling better overall. I live in Saint Paul, and I drive there to train there - that is how good this place is!

Higher Power Training has been the jump start to my fitness routine. Jeremiah has been a saint to put up with my whining, and ensured I get through every work out successfully. He challenges me by updating my routine on a regular basis, and keeps it fun with something different each time. I started the nutrition program with Katie in December I wasn’t sure what to expect. 9 weeks on a “strict” plan seemed like a long time and a big challenge, especially given that it would fall over Christmas and New Year’s. With Katie's help, I dropped over 30 pounds. I feel great and once I got through the first couple of weeks, the nutrition piece has been easy to maintain.
