“I want to give a massive thank you to The Running Public for everything they’ve done for me. Ever since I started listening to their podcast at the end of 2020, I’ve seen a huge transformation in my running. I went from struggling to make it to the podium to now being on the podium 70 times! Just this year alone, I’ve dropped my 5K time from 19:58 to 17:38, my 10K from 45 minutes to 38:44, and just last weekend, I knocked five minutes off my 10-mile time, going from 1:09 to 1:04.

I'm currently one of the online athletes that work with Kirk. I started working with him about a year ago now, and he has completely changed my view on what I'm capable of achieving. Within one year of working with Kirk, I went from a 4-5 mile long run to a 15-18 mile long run, 3 mile recovery to 8 miles, and a half marathon being the longest I have ever done to completing 57 mile ultra. Not to mention the countless PR's I have set and broken throughout the year, and being on the age group podium 3 out of my 4 races this year. Incase I haven't made it clear yet, working with Kirk will get you results.

I started working with Kirk 9 months ago as I was trying to be more competitive in obstacle course racing and running in general. Kirk had a genuine interest in what I was doing and drew up a plan that helped me grow and ultimately run faster. We checked in weekly but if I had a question he was there for me. I have trained with Kirk for 5 months. When I first started, I could barely do 8 lbs and 10 lbs. He was always so kind and observing to make sure I was developing the necessary strength and endurance to perform better each session. Kirk paces me and holds me accountable for my fitness journey. I will be honest, Kirk is a beast. He will put in the work with you if you show him commitment. I think for me getting up at 5-6am to reach the gym was the hard part but once you're there he knows that you want to change your life and he will make sure to help you reach your goals. 2020 will bring my 50th and as an endurance athlete (in cycling) competing almost 30 of those 50, I've had 2 personal trainers along the way. Kirk is my 3rd and what it made it different for me this time around was finding someone who could connect, relate and dynamically shift on my personal needs and goals around body fat composition, strength and nutritional foundation. It's been nothing but positive and while things are still improving (aren't they always?), his drive and passion to see you thru and succeed is what I love about him. He will drive you with a style and approach that's relevant to you; not anyone else. He designs the program to your needs and will iterate along the way to make sure you're making progress. One of the best and highly recommended!!

I wanted to give Kirk a shout out on my personal fitness journey. As a mom of young kids finding time or a routine was tough. I started group fitness training twice and week. Kirk started me on a nutrition plan that was simple and easy to follow. I lost 15# this first month I started training with him. He genuinely cares about you as a person and wants you to be successful. He will hold you and accountable and encourages me to bring it to every class. It has been great working with Kirk! He also has a pretty awesome podcast that you should give a listen called The Running Public.

I would highly recommend Kirk and his personal training. He is very motivated in helping his clients reach their goals in the gym and he ensures that it is a realistic approach. When I first started training, Kirk and I had a consultation where he really got to know me, my workout history, and my current diet. I had hit a plateau in my workout goals and Kirk was able to help me push past that and really exceeded my expectations. He really pushes everybody to be their best in and out of the gym and is great at holding you accountable with weekly check-ins. Not only is Kirk great as a trainer, he is simply a great person who really cares about you and your lifestyle. You can easily tell that he wants you to be happy and healthy while having a plan that is maintainable... none of these fad or extreme diets like other trainers are recommending. Another plus of Kirk's training was the fact that I met some really wonderful people in my morning group training sessions, I always looked forward to seeing everybody at my workouts!

Kirk is a very knowledgeable and experienced trainer. He offers as much or as little as you desire outside of just the physical training in forms of extra stretching or workout recommendations, meal planning, etc. Kirk also does a great job ramping the difficulty up or down for of any of the exercises depending on your current fitness level.
I 100% would recommend his services for anyone looking for some personal training at any level.

I had the pleasure of training with Kirk during the Spartan National Series last year. He did a fantastic job with programming & periodization that catered specifically to my race season and set me up for success. I often struggle with following a structured training plan, but Kirk was really flexible and offered smart alternatives when needed. Kirk is a great personal trainer and he's really fun to work with. I partake in the small groups sessions and he always gives us a variety of workouts, an boy are they challenging! My favorite part is that every workout sessions I've had has been completely different and I am always sore the next day!
Kirk also creates individual workout plans to follow that are tailored specifically for you and your fitness goals. He also makes himself available to me if I ever have any questions regarding my plan or nutrition. I would highly recommend training with Kirk! Kirk is enthusiastic, and will fully match whatever effort and commitment you bring to your training. I have trained with him online for three different races over the past two years, for half marathons in 2017 and 2019 and currently for a marathon. I PR’d by over 8 minutes in my second time training for a half marathon with him, which was a goal I never thought I would accomplish!
Whenever I get a training plan from him, it always makes me equally nervous and excited, which I think it the perfect place to be for growth. Kirk asks a lot of questions about your goals, and creates plans that are very personalized to what you’re aiming to accomplish.
Kirk is very communicative, and regularly checks in and is very responsive whenever I reach out with questions or need help with strategizing a workout. When I was injured, he was able to modify my plan so that I could continue to make progress towards my fitness goals. Kirk’s check-ins are equal parts encouraging and holding me accountable to the training plan, which I love!
Working with Kirk has helped me make WAY more fitness progress than I could have on my own, and I would highly recommend working with him to achieve whatever fitness goals you have!

Kirk helped me get back into shape and feeling great postpartum... and in only 40 minutes/day per my request from a time strapped mom of two! He really listened to my needs/goals and created a training and nutrition plan tailored to ME! With the combination of strength + some speed/hill workouts, within just a few weeks, I had already improved my running pace by +40 seconds per mile... and have kept clipping seconds (and pounds) off thereafter! I love Kirk's knowledge, support, and enthusiasm! I am using his remote training and it is the best info and support that I have ever seen in remote coaching.
The plans are clear, specific, and achievable. They are delivered via email and tailored to me and my goals. When life has jumped in front of my training plans, Kirk is able to move training plans around, make adjustments, and offer suggestions on priorities.
The magic of working with Kirk comes after that. His support, enthusiasm, and butt-kicking (when needed) are all top notch. He cares, and that comes through. I have benefited from his encouragement and support many times to keep me on track.
I highly recommend Kirk for training - his remote is the best I have used, I can only imagine how good his in person training would be. If you are looking for remote programming and training, look no further. If you have the chance to get in the gym with him, I would highly recommend it!

Kirk's group sessions have been the perfect fit for me. They are challenging, never the same, and allow flexibility for modifications as needed. I have been working out with Kirk twice a week for more than 3 1/2 years. Each year he asks me to write a review and each year I have the best intention and each year I find myself at a loss for words. This is in no small part due to the fact that it's hard to find the right words to express how much a person means to you. How his sense of humor can help you get through the most brutal workout (which he admittedly and gleefully concocted.) How he has helped so many achieve incredible gains. How he has managed to build a clientele that supports and encourages each other both inside and outside the gym as well. How your week doesn't feel complete without seeing him at least once.
I have fallen off the dietary train many MANY times in the last 3 years but Kirk has always been able to give me a gentle nudge in the right direction again and is ALWAYS ready with a high-five for an awesome week...even if it's been a lot of weeks since he last received a check-in from you. He always congratulates the accomplishments of his clients regardless of how much or how little it may be. He is your biggest fan both in times of success and when you are frustrated by plateaus and physical status quo. And the best part is that he truly walks the walk with you. He is honest about struggles he's had with injury or setbacks and even when he's had a cheat day or two.
Your beginning level of strength or endurance should definitely not be a deterrent to contacting Kirk. I have witnessed (and experienced first hand during a nagging knee injury) his ability to customize a workout to accommodate potential limitations you may have. Anyone would be lucky to workout with someone who is the epitome of both personal and professional drive.

Kirk has been my personal trainer for almost 2 years.
You might know him from The Bachelor or Bachelor in Paradise…others might know him for his success as a World ranked Spartan racer (actually made the National team!!) but, I know him as a completely dedicated & hard -hitting trainer.
Why is he great? Here is my Top 10 reasons.
1. He knows what he is talking about! It is his passion! Educating and helping others to achieve success with their health and wellness.
2. He believes in balance…and helps educate you in the balance of life, work, food, exercise and mental health. (I am a workaholic – full of stress and anxiety-so believe me he has his work cut out for him on a weekly basis)
3. He is a guy that says it like it is…he doesn’t really sugar coat, he doesn’t really coddle…but he does hold you accountable and makes you know YOU are the one making excuses! He reminds you that ONLY YOU have the power for change…but he will be by your side every step of the way – if you let him.
4. He has one on one, group sessions or virtual sessions. I go Monday and Thursdays- group sessions. I work-out with a very fun, feisty group. There are 4 of us. I am the rookie! They have been with Kirk for 9 years, 6 years and 5 years respectfully. Somehow- even in a group session- he makes you feel like you are the only one.
5. In the almost 2 years I have been with him- twice a week- we have NEVER repeated the same work out! Important for me.
6. He cares about his clients more than just in the gym! He follows up in your everyday life with a call or a text or an email– especially if you feels you are slacking…or just not taking the time for YOU with your mental & physical health… He checks in!
7. He gives you the tools to succeed. He gives you a meal plan, a homework plan for workouts outside of training days. You have 100% access to him (except weekends –since he is somewhere in the world Spartan racing)
8. It is easy to see he is a good guy that will be dedicated to you as a client because how he treats others- his family means the world to him, he is dedicated to his friends, his teammates, his work …and to his clients. He builds relationships and maintains them- because he cares!
9. He is sarcastically – hilarious. I am constantly laughing.
10. He will Rock your World!
Everyone makes New Year’s resolutions to take health seriously and get in better shape. Some folks can do it on their own – and some need a support team around them. Kirk is the best in the business! Call him! Buy a package today. You won’t regret it! He trains at Lions Gym & Wellness Center... but also.. don't forget.. if you live far away... he has a Virtual package!

My husband and I have been working out with Kirk for about a year and a half. We have done both couple and group sessions and find that both work really well! Kirk engages one on one to understand your goals, needs and concerns. From these types of interactions, he is able to create a custom workout plan just for you and will review and update after you complete the first plan. We have both lost weight and gained a ton of muscle!! And I did not become bulky which was a concern I had. It has been a huge help to have another person keeping us accountable to our health routine— he is always checking up on how the week has gone: are we eating right, working out, recovery, etc.. My career demands a lot of my time. Kirk helped me get back into a regular exercise schedule after running "status quo" with my fitness for a long time and never really pushing myself. When I first started with Kirk, I couldn’t even run 3 miles without stopping. I fisnhed the 2018 season running in 16 races (5ks, half marathon, OCR/ Spartan). Having 2 first place finshes, 4 second place finshes, 4 third place finshes, 2 fourth place finshes and 4 other races in the top 10. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me!!! As I get older doing what I was been able to do at a younger age has been difficult. Kirk has honestly helped me turn back time. I started going to him 5 years ago as my rugby career was coming to a close, through his 1:1 sessions Kirk was able to help me finish my career as strong as when I started. As I looked for my next sport, Kirk introduced me to Spartan racing. I now utilize him for on-line work outs. I was referred to Kirk by a friend who had been training with him for years. I was looking to loose weight for my wedding, and also get back into shape for our honeymoon where we would be going on a rock climbing adventure in Thailand. I usually hate going to the gym, lifting weights and running, but Kirk is amazing! His workouts are always so different week to week, and every week I am so sore( meaning I worked new muscles every time). After a couple of months I could not believe the results! I am in the best shape of my life, and can workout way longer than ever before in my life. The best part is I truly look forward to going to the gym, which before Kirk was something I would never had said, but with Kirk the workouts are so effective and fun. I initially reached out to Kirk through Instagram, because I follow his Spartan Racing. I reached out to him not expecting a response, and got a response within the hour. I have been working with Kirk through online training for about 5 months now and have been completely impressed with the day to day training. Kirk incorporates both speed and running, and strength training. He is highly knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He's always quick to respond to any questions I may have and to modify workouts when needed. He has tailored all of my workouts so that I can do them at home on my time, with the equipment that I have.
I have worked with a handful of trainers over the last 10 years, and Kirk is the first one to actually give a damn about my goals and help me find a way reach them (thru lots of hard work). 2019 I'm hoping to hit some big goals, and do lots of Spartan Racing with the help and training of Kirk.

I can’t recommend Kirk enough. He is a fantastic trainer, is a great observer and notices things that are so easy to miss when trying to “go it alone” workout-wise. While I’d had several stints working out before, it never stuck and was always this endless cycle of working out without achieving the goals I had in mind, then losing motivation and losing any gains I’d made until I was so out of shape I’d do the New Year resolution thing.
Within a couple weeks working out with Kirk I was noticing dramatic increases in strength in every area. Pull-ups felt impossible and now 10-12 are an afterthought. My bench is better than its ever been, this time last year I could struggle through 25 pushups - I can blow through 50 now.

I had the chance to work with Kirk over the summer during my peak season of training for Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) and a marathon I was expecting to do. Kirk put together a program for me that was very simple yet effective. He also made the nutrition piece very simple as well. He was full of knowledge and willing to answer any questions I had. He kept me accountable each week by following-up and asking how my workouts went. He would even tell me which workouts to prioritize over others when I knew that I would not have the time to do all of them according to plan. This was super helpful in trying to plan my time and workout schedule. I've worked with Kirk for almost 3 months now as an online running coach. I reached out to Kirk, based on his running background, in order to work on my speed during the winter months, and he has completely exceeded all expectations! Even with Kirk being an online coach, he has provided detailed daily running and strength training workouts (that vary by type and speed based on my abilities), he has reached out to me each week to see how progress went that week and to answer any questions I may have, and he has been 100% responsive to quick questions, or just accomplishments I have had from a workout, through text message. I was introduced to Kirk DeWindt Personal Training by attending a group training session at the gym. From there I signed up for his online training program where I was given a 4-week workout and eating plan. Kirk tailored these plans specifically for me; taking into account my likes, dislikes, and how many times I would workout per week. Kirk checked in with me throughout the week to see if I needed help with anything or had any questions. Each Sunday when I reported my food and workout log to him he would email back with encouragement and motivating feedback. That accountability piece was key for me. In that first month I lost a good 10lb. After signing on for another online training month with him, I am currently down a total of 15lb!
Food has been my biggest struggle. Kirk's food plans aren't full of shakes and bars like many of the other diets out there require you to eat in order to lose weight...you can eat REAL FOOD and feel full! That has been one of my biggest takeaways; knowing a good portion size and having a variety of GOOD foods to eat in order to continue to maintain and lose weight.

In August, I stepped on the scale, looked at the numbers flashing at me from below my feet & let out a big sigh. It was about 3 months ago that I was less than happy with my body and at that time I had zero self-motivation to make a change. I decided it was time to get someone to hold me accountable. I started doing a little research online and came across Kirk's website and reviews. We arranged a quick meet & greet and assessed my fitness and life goals. From there Kirk sent me a tailored nutrition and personal workout plan along with kicking my butt twice a week in the gym. A friend suggested Kirk to me as a trainer about three months ago and I've never looked back. Kirk is absolutely fabulous. Every day is a different workout so you never get bored and he adds in a healthy element of competition about once a month to help us track our progress and encourage us to continue to do our best.
I'm someone who has been overweight pretty much my whole life. I had tried a few diets, but sticking with it was my biggest problem. As part of the package, Kirk will put together a nutrition plan for you to help you learn how to eat best for whatever goal you're trying to accomplish. He also is really great about being there for you when you fall off the wagon (which does happen sometimes) and encourages you to pick it back up and keep trying. Kirk also will give "homework" for the days you don't meet with him to help you continue to progress towards your goals. So far, I'm down about 25 lbs from when I started with him and am really excited to keep going on this adventure.
It takes a lot of hard work and so far it has been a huge learning experience and exercise in stick-to-it-ive-ness but it has also been very rewarding. I would highly encourage anyone looking for a trainer to look into training with Kirk.

I've been training for Kirk just over two years now both in person and on-line. His dedication to each of his clients' fitness is amazing - he takes the time to get to know your health and fitness on a personal level so that he can give you the best advice. I would highly recommend training with Kirk - each session is different and gives you a great work out no matter what. I am in better shape than I was in high school as an athlete (dancer + softball) and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Kirk is professional, personable, and above all else delivers results. In my 12 weeks working with him on a strength gain program, I was able to increase my weight by 10.5 lbs (8 lbs lean muscle mass). He constantly pushes me during workouts and checks in on me on days when I am working out solo to ensure my form and routine is on par with his expectations. Working with Kirk at Lion's Gym is also enjoyable. The entire staff and other gym goers are very welcoming and encouraging. If you need a trainer, choose Kirk.

I came to Kirk in February 2014. I had tried trainers before but never had the results I was looking for. I was still feeling "skinny fat" and I didn't like it. Once I started going to see Kirk, he took interest in what I was doing in and out of the gym. He put together a meal plan, workout routine and was a great accountability partner. I have been a competetive runner for many years. I ran in HS and earned a scholarship to run in college. I was the number 2 runner on a nationally ranked cross country team. After college I statred running marathons and half marathons. I ran my first marathon in 3:35. I ran 3 more full marathons with my best time being 3:28. I then took 15 years off from running full marathons as I was a busy mom with 3 kids. I still competed but nothing longer than a half marathon. Last year I decided to return to the full marathon. I ran it in 3:30.01. Recently my workouts were becoming stale and I felt like I needed a fresh start. I heard about Kirk on Twitter. I saw he was himself an individually ranked national runner which is no small feat. I hired Kirk and trained with him for just a little over a month before I raced a half marathon. Not only did I come in 17th out of 1,225 women, but I shaved off four minutes from my time from the same race when I ran it just a year before. I then decided I wanted to run another full marathon. I knew with Kirk's help I could possibly even run a PR. I trained with him for 3 months to get ready for it. With his guidance, not only did I set a PR beathing my time from the precvious year, but I also beat my times from when I was 15 years younger! I ran a 3:19.04. I could not have done it without Kirk's coaching. The workouts he gave me were outside of the box of any training I had done in the past. Kirk is an EXCELLENT coach. Hiring him was the smartest thing I have ever done for my running career. He knows how to incorporate the right amount of strength training into my workouts and he writes out weekly running workouts for me. He tells me how far, and how fast I need to run for everyday of the week. He wrote out a menu plan for me telling me what foods I should be eating. If I have a question during the week all I have to do is shooot him an email and he gets back to me right away. Not only is Kirk the BEST coach/personal trainer I have ever had, and I have an many, but he is a genuinely nice guy. He wants nothinng more than for you to succeed and reach your personal goals. He is a motivator. He has helped me rediscover my passion for running. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a novice to the gym, Kirk will do whatever he can to help you achieve your goals. If you are looking for the best, than Kirk is your guy:)

I have been training with Kirk for a little over two years and am certain I am his only client who drives a little over 2 hours just to work out with him! He targets every single muscle in my body and no two workouts are ever the same!! I came to Kirk while I was stuck in a 6-month plateau and just about ready to give up in reaching my goal if losing over 100lbs. He quickly changed that! I was sold about 5 minutes into my first session with him! I decided after the workout that day and talking to him that I needed to return. With his diet/workout plans, I was able to get to that 100lb. mark! He wants to know where you're coming from as far as your goals and what made you reach out to him and cares about you getting to your goals, he wants to be your friend. He's great at holding you accountable and he always checks in to see how you're feeling after one of his workouts which is something you don't normally get from a trainer! My first training session with Kirk was about a year and a half ago. My friend wanted to get in shape for her wedding and was looking for a personal trainer. She asked me to go with her and try out a free session with Kirk. Already belonging to a gym and working with trainers, I had absolutely no intention of changing things up. But after one session, I was blown away by how different he was from any other trainer I had ever been to. It's obvious he know fitness (I mean, look at the guy), but on top of that he is incredibly motivating, dedicated, and understanding of your goals and fitness levels. Every workout is different. Even when I was gone for weeks for work, he'd text to see how I was doing, offer up food suggestions, and assign me homework (aka workouts) to stay on track while away. He doesn't get paid to do these extra things, people. He's the real deal. Fast forward to present day...my endurance and strength is night and day compared to where I was when I first started with Kirk. Ever wanted to puke during a workout or feel the need to take frequent breaks? Yeah, that was me THEN. I don't know that person anymore. NOW I'm more fit than I've ever been and still surprise myself at the things I'm able to do. He has actually made me into a more honest person, too...I no longer have to lie about my weight on my driver's license!! For that, I (and the DMV) thank you :)

I’ve seen AMAZING results after training with Kirk for just a few months… within just 3 months of training two days a week, I reduced my body fat % by whopping 8.2 percentage points! I've been working out with Kirk for a year and a half with no plans of stopping. He has helped me in more ways than I can count and has a personalized plan for each client. He gives you great advice on what to eat (and what not to eat) and what exercises to do on your own if you need it. I have been working out with Kirk for 2.5 years and in that time I have improved my fitness, noticed higher energy levels, and have more toned muscles. What I like about Kirk is how he mixes up your routines - it is never the same and you never get bored. There is a really great mix of strength training, cardio and circuits.
