It's not for me. The tour I was given was so uninformative. No explanation on how anything works. Classes,locker room facilities. Do I have to furnish my own towel? My own lock? Hours of operation? It reminded me of a bigger ymca. I'll pass.

My partner took me here to use the pool, and I knew going in that LA fitness wasn’t known for its aquatics.

However, the state of the pool and hot tub were really alarming. From the amount of people that were in the hot tub even though the capacity was 5-6, to the amount of chlorine used in the pool. I smelled like the pool for three days after visiting, and felt nauseous after showering because the smell was so strong. In addition, there weren’t any rules about lane use (i.e. circle swim, lap swim).

But more importantly, the walls and floors of the jacuzzi and pool were brown. Now I’m not sure if that’s the original color, but I would assume that it’s suppose to be cleaner than that. I don’t know when the pool deck was cleaned last, but I would assume that a deep clean is due.

Just as a side note, it would be nice to have a swimsuit spinner in the locker rooms to wring the water out. I realized too late that there wasn’t one as I was rushing out of the locker room. In addition, could the windows facing the entrance and outside be blacked out or tinted in some way? It’s a little strange that people can just see into the pool deck.

This is a great facility with a lap pool, hot tub and even a sauna as well. Drew is a manager there and showed me and my friends around, he is a really nice guy and I can see why he deserves to be a manager. This a definitely a great gym and I can’t wait to come back for my lifts!

This is the worse place you can ever work out. I signed up for a personal trainer, he didn’t do a good job, his name is Troy. Then I talked to Drew to cancel my personal trainer he said it was canceled. Now they are changing me every month and said I will have to keep paying for a year, when I signed up for Drew told me I could cancel ANYTIME without fee. I WANT TO CANCEL THIS!

It tastes like watered down ice cubes with fruit flavoring. Ended up just throwing the whole smoothie away. My boyfriend didnt even want it and he will eat virtually anything. They took $2,000+ for only 6-7 personal training sessions, plus a monthly membership fee without my knowledge after the concert. They said that it has been mentioned in the contract. I tried to cancel the training sessions but it’s not customer friendly. They asked me to talk to manager then they asked me to come in person…….etc..The poor customer service, lack of flexibility, and inconvenience made this a complete waste of time and money. The employees are always polite and the equipment is clean, the bathrooms, pool and sauna are always clean. My issue with the gym is with the personalized coaching. When I started my sessions I was told my trainer would be with me along the way and she gave me her phone number. She gave me plenty of ideas for meal prepping and was very encouraging. I never saw or heard from her again. She totally ghosted me and as far as I can tell she doesn't even work there anymore. I received no information from the front desk about who to meet up with or how to stay in touch with her. The first few one on one sessions were very helpful. However there were many times when I would schedule using the app and then the trainer would reach out to me and want me to reschedule. Finding time to workout is difficult and the added pressure of accommodating the trainers time made it even more difficult. There were also times when the trainers were late or were a complete no show to our sessions. The membership is not cheap and the experiences of the customers matter.

Pretty good gym - I've been going there a long time. Lately though, I see a lot of women in the hot tub and pool wearing their workout clothes - shirts and tights. This is by far the worst location I've encountered. The manager is incredibly rude and disrespectful, leaving me to wonder how he secured his position. His unprofessionalism was evident as soon as I mentioned that my membership was through my company; his attitude changed immediately. I will definitely not be returning to this location due to the terrible customer service. The facility is subpar compared to other locations. As someone who works from home, I rely on the gym to relax and work out, not to be hassled and disrespected by strangers. It’s disappointing that this is the best Edina has to offer.

The facilities and perks are very good but this review is focused on the personal training services!
They market their packages with baseline assessments, nutrition guidance, etc. It's a lie. Signed up for a year-long program, the assessment was not comprehensive. I asked repeatedly about nutrition to maximize results from exercise but the trainer said he was not knowledgeable, but his boss would offer some coaching. It never happened (I got tired of asking). I paid for weekly sessions and months go by with the same exercise routines, sure used different equipment but at the end almost the same movements. My advice, do not sign contracts! Paying by the hour/session is more expensive, but if you sign a contract, it may end up being considerably more expensive... on top of the regret.

The GM Christian is pretty great! I’ve tried a couple other LA fitness locations and he is better at getting results, he actually takes the time to listen to what his gym members need. They fix gym equipment in a timely manner, there are multiple weight machines in every section so I never have to wait even during rush hour. They worked hard to institute safety measures for the basketball court such as parents required with anyone under 18, closes early & limited to numbers (to name a few) they have truly taken many measures to show care about gym member’s safety.
Edina in general has had growing crime statistics and safety measures haven’t been ignored. I’m quite impressed by the place.

Great gym! Shooting absolutely could have been avoided and was surprised that after several days LA Fitness hadn’t made any public statement about the shooting. When I called to ask if they’d be implementing any type of security measures or protocols as a result of the shooting, the person I spoke to was unaware a shooting had even taken place. While thankfully nobody was hurt, I’m definitely traumatized and should not feel unsafe at the gym. I never thought I’d see a gun aimed at someone while I was at the gym, and I certainly never thought I’d have to run for my life at the gym either. I like this club better than most LA fitnesses but I've watched many times as random groups have walked right past the person at the front desk, who more often than not is so buried in their phone they don't even look up at those checking in. It's very lucky no one was hurt or killed - hopefully management puts some effective practices in place that should have been there long ago, like a) have staff put their phones away while at the front desk b) greet people when they walk in the door c) stop people who don't sign in d) tighten up or eliminate the guest policy. I've even watched multiple times as teenagers blatantly park in the handicapped spots in front and walk into the gym, and when notified the person at the front desk says there's nothing they can do about it (really nothing they will do about it).

Not gonna lie... I'm sad and frustrated that the VP Matt here.... left me in limbo for months on end.

He promised that he would do his best to help me recover my pre- pandemic annual rate... yet left me in limbo each month as he stated he would call me to let me know the status.

Instead... each month... I HAD TO CALL HIM to request if he was able to get my membership started again although he promised to keep me updated.....

Each month that went by.... he had an excuse for why he wasn't able to help get my pre- pandemic rate back and eventually.... I gave up and stopped caling because he did NOT reach out to me and I did not want to feel as if I was begging him...

The entire situation was entirely dissapointing because I wish he would have at least been straight forward regarding not being able to help me get my pre- pandemic membership back...

I have not renewed my membership because this situation left a bad taste in my mouth.

Staff weirded me out when I signed up for a membership a year ago. Specifically one of the trainers pushing me way too hard to buy a membership. The Edina location is nice, has pretty good management overall, large exercise areas with plenty of equipment and a nice pool.
They keep it pretty clean.

The hot tub has white soap bubbles in it all the time once it’s turned on. It must be from the chemicals they use, as it’s not normal to have that quantity (or any) soap bubbles in a hot tub. It’s recommended they change what they use to clean the hot tubs at all of their locations to stop this from happening. Dirt floats on top of the soap bubbles.

Also, the wet tile in the pool area is very slippery!! I walk very slow to avoid falling and breaking a body part. Water doesn’t drain properly and sits in various pools around the linear and round drains. They could alter the tile to eliminate this hazard. It’s dangerous. (See pictures)
And they could repair the missing glass block at the hot tub wall. The cardboard ‘repair’ isn’t a long term solution.

The parking lot is tricky to navigate as there is only one tight entrance/exit.
For the size lot that it is, it should have two entry/exits.

The wall-hung locker cabinets exceed the 4” ADA guideline depth, and are a bit dangerous, so watch where you’re walking if you’re on your phone and not paying full attention.

Recently joined and have been 5 times (including weekdays and weekends). I'm just going to swim laps, but note that the equipment area seems to have more than enough equipment for the people there whenever I've walked by.

The lap pool never has classes or other activities, so, if the gym is open, the pool is open for lap swimming, which is great. Also, the locker rooms (including showers) are clean. Bring your own towel and lock.

Whoever designed the layout of this gym knew the assignment! This is top 3, one of the best gyms I have ever been too! As I write this, there is a member snoring on the stretching mat. Been there over 10 minutes (he got here before me and I've been here 10.) I complained to the front and nothing has been done. Gross. When I first came it felt like a spa but now it grosses me out. Oh yeah. There was the time I stepped on broken glass outside the pool door.

Pretty clean place with plenty of equipment; cardio, weight machines, and free weights. Multiples of same equipment, including leg machines, for you ladies that hit legs everyday.
The variety of workout equipment is what keeps me going there.

L.A fitness has TERRIBLE SECURITY in basketball courts.....I mean the kind where you can kill someone and you can get away with it....that's how much the owner respects safety...it's sad that people have to die for people to learn

I like to go to the gyms that are clean and don't smell of body odor. This one does a pretty good job of being immaculate, the machines work and are being worked on if they need repairs. I don't feel intimidated or rushed by patrons, it's spacious so there's room for everybody. People are pretty good looking here too!
