One star because what's the point of being able to sign up for a free trial but can't use it at this location? If you're not able to confirm a guest pass is legit, don't offer it. That's not our problem. Bad customer service. Plus discrimination from the white lady at the front desk. Just get rid of the free trial. Your causing confusion and losing customers.

Love the location, they do parking validation for 2 hours (tip, set yourself a timer). Some of the stairmasters go down often. They could REALLY use a "No Open Music" or "Earbuds only" sign and policy in the sauna and weight area. Sometimes a clown feels the needs to share his rap mix with the rest of the gym or sauna. Other than that, great location and staff, I love the place.
5/26/25 - that cleaning lady did an AMAZING job on the men's locker room - I've never seen it so perfect!

Susy is a great manager for LA Fitness! I had a bad situation with my membership that took several months to resolve by an LA fitness in Arizona and the minute Susy was put on the case, she resolved it immediately after understanding the situation.
This has caused me to not cancel my membership and continue training at LA Fitness for the long term and to continue personal training thanks to her for mediating professionally!

Great gym. Never too crowded in uptown. Never have to wait for machines. They seem to have more than enough than needed for the volume of people they get. No pool but they do have a sauna.

If you don’t mind the cockroaches, its not a terrible place to workout. If you can’t afford $200 /mo at lifetime, you get cockroaches. This pic was taken in Feb 2025. The staff says there’s treatments but I've been seeing these guys in the showers and the sauna for months

I give this place a no star review. Why? Because I keep wondering when did this world turn into a place where humans restrict other humans from relieving themselves. It is a natural human function to use the bathroom. When you go to these places and ask “can I use the restroom” and are told “NO”! It sucks and shows how the lack of compassion has now taken over our society. I wanted to get a membership here but I asked if I can use the restroom and they said “no”. That’s when I knew I’d never wanna work out in a place that lacks human compassion. Do not go here!

Generally chill atmosphere and great location, but I have questions on how well the machines and weights are maintained. About 50 percent of the cardio machines have been out of order for more than four months, the classes are meh, and the scale in the women's locker room has been broken since 2024. At least they clean the machines regularly.

Every other machine is broken. Enough where it genuinely feels like they’re letting them all break down to close the place down. People never clean up after themselves, they are constantly stuff wet napkins in sauna thermometers, talk on the phone in speaker mode, and will use machinery barefoot. Definitely not worth the amount of money I pay every month. Employees are probably not paid enough to track all these terrible customers so I don’t blame them.

I’m not sure if corporate reviews these, but I’m hoping this reaches the right person.
Ya’ll have to do better. I’m someone who frequents multiple LA Fitness locations throughout the twin cities, and this by far is the worst maintained location. If you’re wondering why the numbers are down at this sight…. Here’s why,
1) As of today 12/10 there are at least 6 treadmills that do not work, and other multiple cardio machines.
2) There are MULTIPLE weighted machines with out of service signs and they’ve been this way for over a week with the number growing.
I’ve seen the same machine maintenance guy at St.Louis Park, Brooklyn Center, and 694 New Brighten locations… This seems to be his forgotten location. It’s embarrassing that the one Minneapolis location is treated this way.
The one saving grace and why I continue to return to this location is the main staff are amazing. Friendly, sociable, and make you feel welcomed. The general population is also a good group. The people keep this place going, but clearly corporate doesn’t care about Uptown and treat it as a lower tier location.

I am in town for work and was excited to try the 3-day trial (I usually go to planet fitness)… but the manager Ben said I couldn’t come in because I looked like someone who had previously been abusing the free trial at that location… Which is insane and not possible.
I literally had photos / receipts / everything you could think of to prove I was on the other side of the country a week ago, but it didn’t matter. Honestly, it felt like discrimination.
But yeah - don’t support these people… they apparently won’t let you in if they don’t like the way you look.

I signed up with LAfitness six months ago- clearly a big mistake! My main reason was that its the closest gym to me in terms of location.I purchased one year contract for personal trainer. For the first 3 months, I was passed on from one trainer to the next( trainers kept leaving the gym). After my last trainer left, I was contacted by trainer in February but she’s only at the uptown location 2 days a week and both of those says i have work so I couldn’t workout something with her. It’s my understanding that I should have a trainer who can accommodate me (I am not asking for anything ridiculous, I just want a trainer who can help train me within reasonable hours of the day during the week). Or am i supposed to cancel my work to go to gym?
Never mind the fact that when I signed up for training I was promised 30-40 mins sessions which was a lie because the sessions are divided into 25/50mins a session. So obviously I was promised a lie since I could only book the 25mins sessions but I decided not to make a fuss about it and make do what I can get. But now I am without a trainer for more than two months and I can’t even book a session at the uptown location because there is no availability whatsoever despite me having almost 20 sessions remaining which I haven’t used. This is just getting too much- I have tried to be patient but you guys are pushing it! All the other locations have trainers available but that requires me to travel which is what i have been running away from.
It’s going to be a year in October since I signed up with you and I am not looking forward to renewing my membership but that means I have to forego all the sessions I paid for! This infuriates me so much!!!! Unless of course the remaining sessions expire with the contract and if it so- I was not informed!

My husband and I got guest passes to try this LA Fitness Uptown. I spoke on the phone with someone last Sunday (11th Feb) and we booked an appointment to activate the pass and try the gym today (15th Feb, 2024) at 6pm.
We arrived at the gym and we were directed to speak with the general manager of this location. He was very rude from the beginning, particularly towards me. He started by asking us, in an accusatory tone, if we were being honest and if we had never tried LA Fitness. We both said that we hadn't, and we explained that we moved to the country last year. He immediately asked from where, again in an accusatory tone, making it sound like my country of origin could be a problem. I explained that I just moved from the Netherlands (I'm originally from Portugal) and my husband is American but was living in Estonia until we moved to the US. He proceeded to ask if we had Minnesota state IDs. I explained that I'm on a work visa and have my passport with me, but I don't have a state ID yet. He immediately said that I could not enter the gym but my husband could. I was very surprised by this and explained that other gyms here had never said this. When I said this, he treated me like I was lying and said: Ohhh so you have tried LA Fitness before! My husband replied that I went to Orange Theory and YWCA (unfortunately now closed in Uptown), and that he doesn't appreciate the general manager accusing me of lying. My husband further said that the general manager was being unprofessional and making us uncomfortable and unwelcome. The general manager replied Bye.
We decided to leave because I'm not going to a gym to be treated like this. I always assumed that gyms would be a welcoming place for people to exercise and feel happy, and never in my life have I thought that I would have such a negative experience in a gym. His treatment made me and my husband not want to ever enter an LA fitness gym again.

The Uptown location is hit or miss on whether it is busy or not. Typically, it isn't on the busier side (Evenings or mornings)
It's rare there's staff around outside of the cubes or the check-in desk.
Facilities are mostly clean. Bathrooms aren't cleaned often enough, but they aren't terrible.
Good spot for weights, machines, and zumba!
I'd recommend the St. Louis Park location over Uptown if not just for the added pool and hottub, but it's larger and has better spacing.

Thatiana apparently (operations manager) at this location. I was told coming in the gym this morning that I will not be welcomed bac or allowed in the gym without having my scan app on my phone to get in, I usually always use my # to get into every LA fitness I go to and have no problem, she says this is our policy ! And all in all it's actually not she just power tripped on me for no reason and I had a bad workout 😕 poor customer service and she really shouldn't be allowed to work the front desk I pay for my membership like everyone else an to be lied to about a policy she just made up by herself because you don't like me or something personal is just awful..

Large gym, usually not too busy to do what you want to do. The staff and other clients are generally respectful. However, it is SO HOT all the time! They have a sauna, but the entire place feels like one. For the amount of money this places squeezes out of you, they could probably stand to turn the thermostat down a few degrees. Also, sign up through your health insurance if you can for a because their recruitment tactics are incredibly shady, the cost is much more than they advertise even though they’ll swear up and down it’s not, and the contract is difficult to get out of. When I came in for my “free trial day,” a manager quite literally told me he couldn’t let me leave without me giving him my card to run. I felt so pressured that I gave in. I came back the next day and cancelled it after reading the ridiculous contract. I signed up again through my insurance which has the same perks, a lower rate than the actual gym offers, and no annual or hidden fees. Overall this is a decent gym, but be cautious and bring an industrial size barn fan to cool yourself off.

This gym is a money hungry scam. Signed up for the basic membership and come home to see my card is charged $200. I call and was told it’s for first and last month plus something extra but I let it slide. I sign up for a trainer against several peoples advice for another few hundred and was told if I didn’t sign up that day i wouldn’t get $100 waived from a sign up fee, which was a lie. A few days later I get a call saying I owe about 50$ more for another fee and that’s when i had to cancel the whole thing.
I know plenty of other people who have joined this gym and weren’t swindled the same way. I went in person to cancel the membership and no questions were asked. The manager, I believe her name is Erica said I would be refunded everything completely. Now the bank is saying after researching this issue I still have to pay the 200$. So basically I signed up to be robbed out of 200$.
The gym membership plus trainer fee and extra 50$ would have came up to close to 600$. Not to even mention the “waived 100$ sign up fee for a trainer”. Why anyone would pay that much for LA fitness in uptown is beyond me. This place is unprofessional and needs better customer service and communication skills. I wasn’t even going to write a review until I was lied to my face and told I would be reimbursed for everything.

I give club 15 stars if I could, however it only allows 5…I’ve been going here for nearly 3 years and I watched the GM Sekou and his team lose staff and members fast during some rough times(Covid, and 3 different riots and looting…even some disturbing violence but still this Staff kept on pushing making us all feel welcome with their politeness and smiles….no one probably never noticed how they held the gym together by keeping it clean and how the GM confronted the violence on the streets before allowing them to over throw the gym like many stores in the uptown area experienced…I stopped by this morning to commend the front desk staff manager and the GM Sekou for being there everyday for us with genuine smiles and motivation to keep us all going! What a great team in LA FITNESS UPTOWN!!!!

Really disappointed with the direction they've gone since the pandemic. It's not just this location, but the company in general. I understand they are hurting, but some of their recent practices are truly disturbing.
For one thing, during the pandemic they continued to charge dues even though the facility was completely closed for an extended period. In addition, they attempted to charge a previously undisclosed $50 "annual fee" on top of membership dues.
Worst of all, they initially refused to allow me to cancel my membership. I tried to cancel via phone and they would not let me cancel, and they later charged a credit card that had a different 3-digit CVV code than the one authorized! They refused to remove the unauthorized charges and I had to dispute them with my bank.
I've admittedly dealt with a number of shady companies in the past, but they are truly next level. I would recommend avoiding them if you can. They've really gone downhill since the pandemic. I'll still give them 2 stars though because, in fairness, I do like their treadmills and they have nice locker rooms.

The uptown location is convenient for me.
However, they don't answer their phones, their front desk staff, couldn't locate one for 15mns or so. I couldn't validate my parking because the scanner wasn't available and there wasn't front desk staff to help guest out. I couldn't sign in either because their app won't let me access my account so I have to sign in with my phone number and would had this resolved today with just speaking to someone instead continuing have to provide my phone number at each visit. The sauna wasn't even on when they opended. They know it takes an hr for it to be fully on but wait until an hr after the gym has opened up. The bathrooms where left with toilet paper all over the stalls and personal belongings left from the night before.
Where is the staff? where is the accountability to guest and safety?
On positive note, there was a janitorial staff who was able to help me after attempting to look for a front staff member. Thank you for going above and beyond to help me. Turn my experience around from when I arrived.

This is a very convenient gym for me. However, the administrative/operations aspect of the business is poor. Initially I was told that certain areas of my membership would be waived, to find out that it wasn’t waived. Of course, when I call back I was told that such a conversation never happened and “not sure where the confusion occurred.” As if my memory is poor…
Furthermore, I was never told that an annual fee would be withdrawn from my account a month after membership. I recently updated my payment information, and paid off my monthly membership and was stopped in the gym the other day having a 5 minute conversation with the desk assistant on a missing payment. Not sure why the payment was missing - when I had recently updated my bank account. So there should not have been any issue.
Guess it’s my luck for establishing a membership with a gym over the phone.

The uptown la fitness...for me, it's the location and less about the amenities. It's a relatively small location. Has most of what I need, slow in the morning. Pretty clean. The equipment is old and most the treadmills aren't level. No assault bikes/treadmills. Only one cage, but there's smiths and regular squat racks. No platform, but that doesn't stop people when doing deadlifts. Not a lot of floor space or extra bars, just enough for each rack. No sense of community, lotta loan wolf lifters. No juice/shake/protein bar. There's a daycare, but it's not being used or offered...they should change it to a doggy care for while people are lifting...that'd be so cute!!

personally I prefer this la fitness more then The Richfield location due to the locker rooms being cleaner and less people, I also feel like this location has better machines for working out and other than not having a pool the workout spaces are better than at richfield. but this location is extremely Bad at enforcing the mask mandate. I would love to come to this gym more often but I feel unsafe due to the lack of staff wearing masks and no one enforcing the mandate.

Their hours have become horrible. Like most businesses that are lazy they blame everything on covid while corporate refuses to put any real effort into fixing this. They still get paid the same amount even when the hours are gutted. This organization has very few competent people at the corporate level.

The gym was supposed to open at 5 AM. Stood out there until 5:30 AM. Nobody showed. About 10 of us waited. Very disappointing but not unusual. That is even more disappointing.

Was not very crowded when I came late Sunday afternoon. I entered through the back Mall parking structure since LA fitness validates 2 hours. They have 3 squat racks and 3 flat bench presses and everything I need. I would prefer round circle weight plates for deadlift but hexagonal plates are okay

This location doesn't deserve a star. Many time I've gone on a Saturday (open 8am) and they're not open. Don't even waste your time going. Please shut down already and stop wasting people's time.

Used to visit this gym and was a memeber but dont feel safe anymore with these armed, nameless militia members threatening civilians and assaulting children. Can't find parking since they are barricading the parking ramp and violently threatening anyone who approaches asking any questions. Shame on you Seven Points. You scored zero points today. And shame on you LA Fitness for being complacent.

What’s the point of paying for a gym membership if you’re always closed? Explain to your members why you’re only open during random hours. Be better.

Be careful with the personal trainer program, it is a fraud and you have to pay even when you don’t have a personal trainer for wherever reason, LA Fitnes don’t care if you have a personal trainer or no, you have to keep paying and when you ask about the trainers they don’t have an answer, NEVER SIGN UP FOR THE PERSONAL TRAINER!

It's a nice gym, good location and paid parking. But if you have to deal with the manger, Trevor, be prepared to have nothing done or out right ignored.

Have some personal training here and their turnover rate of trainers makes it difficult. Each new trainer (3 now) expects me to adapt to their habits each time. Additionally, they only have 2 trainers on staff to choose from to begin with. One of these trainers has been just outright rude. I’d legitimately rather not use my sessions than train with one of their trainers.
Multiple times when the gym has closed early, they give no advanced notice (I’ve been on the way when they’ve suddenly closed with no warning).

I was looking into this gym. I saw online you could get a free 7 day trial. They called me and told me if I came in that week I would get a half a month trial instead, so I scheduled an apt to come in. When I arrived they acted like they had no idea why I was there, I even heard the employee say that. I was not given the free trial they said on the phone so it was a ploy to get me down there. I was not told anything about price or anything, after the gym tour it was like.....it’s $106 pay now with your credit card. I don’t care to do business with a company like that. It looks like a great gym but if the employees don’t know what they are doing then I will pass.

This’s by far the worst and unprofessional Gym I’ve seen. They overcharged me for no reason and no one is going to explain why. I called the operational manager and he’s just telling me that it’s non refundable and can’t even explain the reason for the overcharge. Please stay away from them!

The front desk workers are extremely rude and need to be replaced if this place wants to stay in business. The second day I walked in after getting a membership I was not treated like a customer and asked if I can cancel my 6-month membership and apparently that couldn’t be done...not impressed at all.
Update: still an AWFUL gym and the manager should not have that job. This place needs new workers and management because that is not how you treat your customers. Never going to this gym again. Apparently you can’t cancel your account through the phone even if you live hours away, not sure what the deal is with that.

I went to this L.A. fitness once two years ago. I am still receiving weekly messages and voicemails from the harassing sales staff. I couldn't possibly consider using this gym out of spite at that point. I even moved across the country over a year ago to where there are no L.A. fitnesses and I'm still getting calls. Its getting ridiculous. I highly recommend avoiding sales staff at all costs. They are in fact a detriment to the gym and it would benefit the gym to lose some of this harassing staff. Next time they call I'll be sure to get the name of the staff.

I like This gym. The only thing is that the equipment is so outdated. This is one of the oldest la fitness's here in Minnesota. I really wish they would bring in new equipment.... also the floor is off ; can’t do lunges here ...

For around $30 a month you really can’t go wrong with this gym. It’s kept clean and has all the equipment you would need. Most people wear masks if you care about that and isn’t usually overcrowded. Good spot.
