I wasted time coming here, stretching for 10 minutes in the sonar room, and walking out to hit the ball court. These people have locked up the court. I'm starting to dislike that LA Fitness. I don't care about working out; I want to put up some shots. It's therapeutic for me to do my workout routine. Those who love the game understand that if y'all are going to restrict the court because grown men don't know how to behave, might as well close the court permanently. So members like me who travel for work know not to stop here.

This is one of the nicer LAF locations in the area. The functional training area is bigger and better than most of the LAF's. I like that they have Life Fitness brand ellipticals, Star Trac brand leg press, and two C2 brand rowers. They also have a few Olympic lifting racks which is nice, although all their racks and cable fly machines fill up quickly, so I would like to see more of those available. This location is always a bit annoyingly crowded in the barbell/dumbbell/cable area. Some additional downsides that could use improvement: basketball gym closes at 8 pm, machines are often covered in dust, child center is no longer open, lack of dumbbells in lower ranges under 10 lbs, and few to no bands. I've only been to a handful of classes here, but of those, I really enjoyed the Saturday morning yoga class. It was a nice mix of moderate level of core/stability work and relaxing stretching all to a Vinyassa style flow. It would be nice if LAF gyms had a yoga specific studio that had more of a relaxing yoga vibe to it. Overall this location is pretty decent for an LAF, but LAF in general is pretty mediocre and are almost always over crowded in the free weight areas.

Men’s locker room is constantly out of paper towels. I’ve kindly asked on 3 separate occasions that they re stock them. Employees don’t care. Today one was on a personal call at the front desk and would t even look at me for 5 minutes. I had to walk away.

I've been a member here for 15+ years and it's time they put some money into sprucing this location up - it feels worn - women's locker room has fixtures that don't work right (shower heads, shower handles), hardware that's rusting on bathroom stalls and workout equipment, equipment with buttons/dials that are worn out from years of use. The floors in the shower and bathroom area are a slippery tile - they used to have rubber mats, but now those are gone and it's ridiculously hazardous trying to get to the safety of the carpeted locker area, I don't understand why they've done nothing to make it safer. The cardio equipment is on the upper level looking out on the rest of the space. Sometimes it's too warm up there, making doing cardio additionally taxing. On the plus side, I like that there's a pool (that's why I chose to join) and there's plenty of equipment and I've rarely been there when it was too crowded. I miss the days when they were open until midnight, which worked a lot better for my schedule - now they are only open until 10 on weekdays.

Have been coming to this gym for years now, but recently cancelled my membership because I moved out of state for school. I live close by so it makes sense id go here. My biggest issue is this location doesn’t know how to use its space. They have an excessive amount of racket ball courts 5 in total with only 2 every being used. A MASSIVE group center that only half is needed. One of those group biking center that I’ve never seen used. A basketball court that gets regular use. But if you’re a new comer don’t expect to get any time if you don’t know anyone. All of free weight equipment is really close together and there is only a few benches so you have to snag one quick. A lot of the equipment is out of date and chipping.
The place is an absolute nightmare after the new year.

After my time at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley, switching to LA Fitness in New Brighton was a much-needed change. I am writing this review after being here for almost 3+ years. First and foremost, the staff here, particularly Cece, Lukas, Darwin, and Masen, are helpful, and approachable.If you need anything, find them!

This place is clean, from the common areas to the equipment. The locker rooms are well-maintained, and the Women's bathroom has been spotless every time I visit. They have most of the machines one would need. For those who enjoy a more private workout session, the fitness studio is available unless occupied by a class. The turf area adds a nice touch!

Regarding peak times, the gym tends to get crowded between 4-7 p.m. However, if you're looking for a quieter experience, consider dropping by between noon or after 8 p.m.

They have a ton of parking space available. For those interested in group classes, they offer a variety, like yoga, cycling, bodywork plus (which I highly recommend), boot camp conditioning, and much more.

If you're new to working out, try out the bodywork plus class; it's an engaging way to kickstart your fitness journey and will likely get you hooked to the gym!

If you want a facility that combines friendly staff, various machines/classes, and a pleasant atmosphere, LA Fitness in New Brighton ticks all the boxes.

Do not go get an LA Fitness membership unless you would like to be scammed. I was initially happy with my membership, but decided to cancel my membership after the nearest location to me closed down (Roseville). I decided to go to this location a few times but decided it was too long of a commute and decided to cancel. I called in late July to see if a manager would be on site so I could go in person to cancel, but I was told they could help me over the phone and told me that my membership was cancelled.

In early September , I realized that I been charged for July and August. I called this location again, and was told that I would receive a reimbursement for these two months, and was again told that my account would be cancelled.

Today, I realized that I was again charged. I called immediately and was told that I would only be able to be reimbursed for this month. Apparently, there was no notes on my account of my previous calls and that there was no refund in process from my previous call. If I wanted additional refund, I would need to call the corporate office.

Spoke to corporate office and was basically blamed for not going in person, even though staff told me that they could help me over the phone. I was also told it was on me that I did not have any proof of my calls and that they could not just take my word for it. I offered to send screenshots of my call log but was told this would not be sufficient. I don't know what they expect of me.

Basically, this company puts money over customers and will make you feel like you are at fault for their lack of consistency within their staff. Do not give them your business.

Attempted to cancel my membership. The person who looked up my account and then proceeded to tell me that nobody on site could cancel my membership. He said the one person that can is 'out' and I would have to go to a different location in order to cancel. He also couldn't give me a time line on when that person would be back.

Not sure if I was getting a run around, because I find it hard to believe only one person in a club can do cancellations. And if that person is out that there wouldn't be a back up plan.

When I said it was inconvenient to go to another location and asked if there was another way, I was told that "Roseville is only like 5 miles/minutes that way"

Follow up. Went to another location. I was cancelled within 2 minutes of walking in. When I was describing the issue I had with New Brighton, he said that was trash and they just didn't want to do it/find the person who could. He stated that in a pinch it's not rare for them to call another club and do it over the phone.

I have been a member of LA fitness for many years. I went into the women’s locker room, then into the sauna, where there was a woman with her young boy, probably seven or eight years old. It was unsettling to me to have a boy in the women’s locker room. I spoke with the front desk and he told me that boys 12 and under are allowed in the women’s locker room. I was mortified. So with LA fitness policy apparently I could be dressing and undressing while a 12 year old boy watches. This is completely unacceptable.

The Roseville location suddenly closed and this gym is not only smaller, but now has double the people. It’s impossible to have a relaxing workout even during off hours. I work from home and come here during the late morning or early afternoon and i’m still waiting for machines and weights. During peak hours the place is absolutely packed. The staff here are so nice (hence the star) and they can’t control the corporate decision making. But it’s almost impossible to enjoy this gym given the overcrowding. What a shame.

Made an appt to meet a guy to sign up.. They made me wait a half hour and then told me he wasn't there. Lame. Staying away from there between that experience and I know cars get rifled through constantly.

None of the bikes in the cycle studio have digital sensors so you don’t have RPM, Distance, Time, or tension. Every other LA cycle studio has these on the bikes.

Equipment: they have a good variety cramped in there! Seriously, you get no personal space in this location. You can beat that by working out in the am hours, larger crowds start trickling in from 4pm, or arrive after 6pm for a maximum workout.
Training: They have free group classes, they are great if you can easily follow the instructor. For an additional cost you can sign up for either the certified trainer or master trainer. The trainers are not nutrition certified, but they do give you a soft guideline in the beginning. Essentially be ready to do your homework on nutrition for a successful transformation. Download the LA app, for guidelines on nutrition and other options.

Affordable gym but busier since the North town location closed. Pool only has four lanes so always having to wait for a lane. Also no rules are enforced in the pool so teenagers can get kind of rude.
