Me and another guy was the last there was a Mexican guy on the front we came outside and I told him sorry we are leaving, but I was coming before the other white guy he talked to me and told me that he will talk to his manager. I was going before the other guy I came back and I said did you tell this guy he said no, then why me? He didn’t have no answer so that you have to teach your people. They have to talk to people the The same way a member more than four years so that you have to look the video. Also, if there is a view, I see that there was a video inside. I was going before the other guy and he was telling me only you I will talk to my manager about you and I specifically ask him why you don’t talk to the other guy he didn’t have no answer . This is an unsafe gym to attend. Mangers at this gym allow violent attacks to happen within the locker rooms without informing the police, conducting a proper investigation, or removing the perpetrators from the premise.

Managers are also unaware of the terms of service or protocols of LA Fitness.

You are better off finding a different LA Fitness location that is run competently, or choosing a different gym franchise all together.

Joined last month. As far as equipment goes they have everything you need and it’s all in decent shape no complaints there. However, they do not require people to have a membership and seem to selectively enforce entry. This results in some extremely odd collection of patrons. Three weeks into membership and I’ve seen the following.

A fight right outside the locker room.. neither person seems to have lost their membership. The person who instigated it was pretty obvious and is a regular nuisance in the locker room. He’s a tiny dude that talks constantly on his phone while it’s on speaker and based on brief conversations with other members he has been in similar situations in the past but everyone just “deals with it”

Members wearing full clothing including a jacket in the hot tub. One guy was probably doing this to wash his clothes I can only imagine. This happens a lot and no one ever says anything.

Loud talking on phones in the hot tub. Also a daily thing. Also on speaker.

People shaving on counters and just leaving their trimmings there. Not even bothering to do it over a sink. The poor maintenance people must have to deal with so much nasty crap.

Again, the gym itself and where people actually work out is pretty great. It’s the cast of characters that use the locker rooms, pool and hot tub that really ruin it and the fact management just seems to not care or just can’t keep up with those antics.

Oh last thing to mention which is particularly bad is the VIDEO calls on speaker in the locker room… I mean come on..

I’m only giving it one star because I can’t give it zero to start off. It’s dirty dusty and they’re not consistent with the rules. I walked in and no one was even at the desk to further be stopped and told that I could not have my son in which I’ve had numerous times not to mention the Saturday prior I witnessed someone else doing the exact same thing the week prior would not go to save your gas money.

Good gym. Good people. They have everything you'll need. I came here from the New Brighton location and before that the Roseville one that closed. With every new gym it takes a bit for me to find my groove but as someone told me long ago, practically every gym is useful you just need to make it work and do the work. I found the stations and kettlebell and spots to workout. The place is clean, staff does a great job. I'll be coming here till something changes.

*Edit* A couple hours after posting this I looked at other reviews and though I can't vouch for their experience I can say I have not experienced anything close to similar nor have seen it. Like I said, gyms are what you make of it. Not everything is going to be pristine but the tools are there and working out can be accomplished. In fact there is no reason I can't go back to New Brighton, it's closer to my house. But this location feels more serious.

The worst management I’ve ever seen I wore a shirt I had to take off which had absolutely no swear words or nothing and they class the doors over 20 minutes early so you can’t get in the hot tub for 10 minutes which is pathetic especially after working a 12 hour shift I would never recommend this La fitness to anyone it’s absolutely not worth the money.

The staff at this location shows little concern for the gym or its upkeep. The machines are outdated, rusty, and dusty. The locker room is dirty and excessively hot. I accidentally left something at the gym and called to ask if they could check if it was where I left it, as I live about 25 minutes away. The person who answered the phone seemed indifferent to my request. I highly recommend against getting a membership at this gym. The location in Richfield is much nicer; the staff there actually cares, engages with you, and doesn't appear annoyed when you have questions. This location would benefit from new staff who are genuinely interested in being there. They literally have one Double D Row Handle Cable Attachment (Close Grip) attachment for this large of a gym. It cost $16 on Amazon for one and they can't even invest in that. What a joke.

I attempted to try this club. I missed my 30 day window due to family illness. I attempted to come in and workout and was turned away due to having it lapse, which is understandable. I requested another trial because I'm not going to join without seeing if I like the club and was happily approved. I went in to try the club and was turned away again stating that there was a 24 hour company policy that you have to schedule a membership appointment before using the 3 day pass. This requirement was not disclosed at any point in the process. When you try to call the corporate number to inquire about their policy they only have an option to talk to someone about help with an existing membership and when you try to connect with them they don't answer. I have taken out time to try a club twice now only to be turned away. This was a waste of time. It is mind boggling and actually hilarious. How is this good business?! I can not give this gym more than a one and this decision is based on corporate policy as well as poor customer service which ends at the door. Smh

The first day going to this location was a very bad experience. I signed up online and there was towel service option which charges $5 extra every month. So I went to ask the front desk and he told me that they do not offer those services. He went to get his manager when I asked him then why I’m being charged a service y’all don’t provide at all. The manager made it seem it’s my fault for signing up for that service. When I asked him why am I getting charged then, He said with a straight face that the question in hand is above his pay grade. Can you believe that? How many other people are they charging those fees?

The place has really gone downhill the past year. They pretty much let anyone off the streets in, walk right by the check-in desk and the guys working just give them a fist bump. Some people look like they're practically living on the streets, walking around in street clothes, carrying plastic bags. I've been asked for money, for smokes, if I want to "buy anything" in the locker room, pretty sure they're not members. A guy I work with won't take his teenage daughters there after 6 pm , strictly for that reason.. I know that it's a matter of time before something bad happens in there due to them letting anybody in. Sometimes I wonder why I'm paying when no one else is. I give it 2 stars, strictly bcuz of the cleaning crew that probably does extra bcuz of all the people they let in.

I’m a fitness professional with 35 years of experience participating with hundreds of gyms, classes, and instructors. I’ve been to country clubs down to basic and inadequate spaces. This is a mid-level to upper mid-level establishment. They have a wide variety of machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. The space is large with lots of patrons (keeping these spaces clean, updated, and safe is not as easy as the public thinks). I have only been to this gym between the hours of 5am-8am. But I was happy to see cleaning staff each time. The front desk staff was friendly and inviting, the manager was engaging and professional, and they are a part of the silver sneakers program which is great for my parents! I do recommend!

I have been to LA fitness since 2005. I brought one of our friend to LA fitness located 1370 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55104 to show him and introduce him to gym. The front desk referred us to one of the counselor named "Abati ". We approached him. He didn't even greet us . He said " what do guys want ". I told him that we want to introduce him to gym. He said $20 dollars right away. I asked him if he want to tell us about the members but ignore us. Then I asked for manager. He said I'm the manager. He insisted that he has to have guest pass for us to show him. I said he does have. He insisted $20 or he has to see the pass . I went to the car and got him the pass. He said not for here . It's for saint louis park mn . I asked him if he can change it for here since we're already here. He said No, must pay $20 or leave. Then we decided to pay and move on.

We only come here now because Roseville closed. Several machines are old and the pulleys kind of catch when you’re using them. A lot of the machines start with too heavy of weight, so as a woman who is moderately strong, I still can’t use certain machines. I was hoping they would acquire some of the nicer machines from Roseville. The sauna is also really unpredictable. Lastly, the free weights are always a mess and I get frustrated hunting down what I’m looking for. On top of all this, it is in an unfortunate part of town and there isn’t another nearby option. If you are going to force people to come here, you need to update this location or offer discounts!

toured this location on Sunday and it seemed fine until the very end of my appointment. a community member who was clearly having a bad trip came in asking for a ride to the hospital, and instead of calling anyone to help this man they kicked him out twice. then when i asked about security in the parking lot was told “we have cameras but nothing really happens here” in spite of an incident happening right in front of me moments before. I didn’t feel comfortable with how the incident was handled and called for medical assistance for the man as soon as i stepped out. Today the staff member who gave me my first tour on Sunday called me to follow up, i told him that i went to another location, liked it a lot better, and ended up signing up there, and he got salty with me and told me “we work on commission, you know” which, i didn’t, and also you’d think he’d have been able to see i had signed up when he retrieved my number from the system, so it feels like he called me just to give me grief. not very impressed tbh.

I left my phone here by accident, came back within the hour I left it and it was stolen. The staff was soooooo insensitive to me because I was not a member. Needless to say, I will NEVER be one. The theft itself is not their fault or responsibility, but how they handle and talk to potential customers IS, and it was absolutely careless.

The place is bursting with serious health problems and It is not a good place for what it is intended for and There should be a major change in the administration and Sometimes people are robbed of their Lookers, the worst for those sitting in the front specially the (Manager) He is a very versatile man😳

It's a very dirty place and even the swimming pool is full of garbage.and There is a bad smell and most of the Runs machines are not working and also Those who sit in the front, beware they're charging more than what the customers tell them specifically the Person in charges (Manager)it needs a major renovation of the building both in terms of management and cleanliness otherwise the government will close it anytime😳

This is my home gym. I love it here. There is a good sense of community and everyone there is pretty laid back. Malcolm and the rest of the staff are all very welcoming and do there best to keep the gym up to par. For this location not being in the best area of town I thibk they do an excellent job of keeping it safe and friendly.
