Hello. Had a horrible experience here as a guest with my lovely wife that’s a member here. She’s never been comfortable here as the stuff is rude and they don’t seem open to people of colour. My wife has since removed as a member of this location and they’ll not be receiving our business. We wrote to the GM about our negative experience and all they offered was a coffee and donut. No thanks.

I really like it here. The staff is great, kids love rock climbing, all 3 pools and their swim instructors... And get this, they have unlimited TOWELS, YA'LL!

It is the perfect place to come get a shower, hit the hot tub, and some cold plunge action after training Jiu-Jitsu at M-Theory West just down the street by Costco.

Highly recommend this location!

As someone who has lived in multiple states and experienced a variety of gyms and country clubs, I want to share my honest feedback about Lifetime Fitness. While Lifetime enjoys a strong presence in Minnesota, its current dominance in the market does not automatically equate to excellence.

I have noticed a recurring lack of cleaning and basic maintenance in the facilities. For instance, the state of ceilings and bathrooms in some gyms—dusty and neglected—is indicative of this oversight. However, I do appreciate and genuinely value much of the Lifetime staff, particularly the swim instructors, who provide exceptional lessons and are fantastic! I give them 5 stars!

That said, the front desk staff at the Chanhassen location is inconsistent. Some provide friendly and professional service, while others are snarky and unprofessional. A recent example: Today, I called to inform the front desk that we wouldn’t attend a swim class due to hazardous road conditions, hoping to support your swim instructor in case attendance was low. Instead of a considerate response, I was met with rudeness and dismissiveness, as if I were attempting to cancel for a refund. It felt tone-deaf given the dangerous driving conditions, which included multiple accidents and vehicles sliding off the road.
Additionally, the app experience leaves much to be desired, with frequent functionality issues that hinder the user experience. Finally, I must mention an unsettling practice: one fitness instructor requiring members to recite the Pledge of Allegiance before workouts. This is both unexpected and inappropriate for a fitness class environment.

Lifetime Fitness has an opportunity to uphold its reputation by prioritizing quality and consistency across facilities and staff interactions. As a real estate professional, I have seen communities evolve, and while Lifetime may currently dominate the market, there is always room for competitors to emerge with superior quality. I hope Lifetime takes this feedback seriously to maintain its standing as a premium gym provider.

Member for years. Gone down hill more each year: Overcrowded, dirty and no sense of order throughout the club, whenever you raise concerns it is disregarded and declines by the day - they let whoever in whenever without any regard and parts of the club are always unavailable. Sad to see, miss the Lifetime I grew up enjoying.

Have been a member for about 5 years and my husband even longer. I have never experienced disrespect in this club until about 7 months ago. Two young female members shouted profanities at me multiple times. These were reported to the club. Jordan was the person who was supposed to be contacting the other female. He continued to make excuses about not getting in contact with them. This went on for about 7 months and he just emailed back and said that the 2 females “don’t remember saying anything”. This is how verbal abuse is handled in this club with long time members.

Loved lifetime at first in Chanhassen mn. Now they are getting very very stricked. No guests on weekends and now a family got in trouble for bringing outside food in.
Something needs to change or else families will be leaving I guarantee.

I have been going to lifetime fitness for years, and am deeply disappointed in the way they treat their employees. I was made aware of just how little they pay their employees, while they charge a ridiculous amount for the membership fee. A "premium" fitness center should be paying their employees premium wages.

This place blows. More of a junior high mixer/playground than a country club or high end gym. If you love choppy workouts due to an abundance of people scrolling Tik Tok and IG then this is your gym! Plenty of real estate to wander and look at your phones, so that’s pretty great. I have been a member here in chanhassen since 2006 and it is so disappointing to see how it has fallen from grace. Luckily, there are more clubs in the metro so I would avoid this one if you value the gym space which is what put this crazy company on the map.

Of the Lifetime gyms I have access to, the Chanhassen location is my preferred. Staff are always kind and friendly. I have been coming to this location for over 10 years and have enjoyed the addition of Cryotherapy and massage machines. Also, enjoy the Sauna and workout machines. Place is clean. Appreciate cleaning wipes are provided. I do miss the following:

Kettlebell classes
Strength training classes.

Wish the lighting was darker with cool lighting and the color of the equipment was just black not burgundy. Also, not a fan of the protein shakes… wish they offered sourdough bread as an option in their sandwiches. Also, would be nice to have treadmill and other machines that allowed for phones to be placed in a way where you are not looking down at the phone.

Lifetime Fitness Chanhassen absolutely sets the gold standard for health clubs. Every time I walk through the doors, I’m greeted by the amazing Hayley at the front desk — always smiling, always friendly, and she somehow remembers everyone’s name like she’s got a superpower. You can’t help but start your visit on a good note when Hayley’s there.

On the training side, Karl is phenomenal. He’s not just another trainer trying to upsell you — he’s the real deal. He genuinely cares, gives honest advice regardless if you’re his client or not. You can tell he loves what he does, and it shows every time I see him.

And a special shoutout to Kayla at the Life Café — hands down one of the most personable and upbeat people I’ve met. Whether it’s just grabbing a smoothie or having a quick chat, she makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time.

As for the facility itself? Immaculate. The locker rooms are spotless (which is rare these days), the amenities are next-level, and every machine looks and feels like it just rolled out of the box. It’s clear they take pride in keeping everything in peak condition for their members.

If you’re on the fence about joining — don’t be. Lifetime Chanhassen isn’t just a gym; it’s an experience. And thanks to people like Hayley, Karl, and Kayla, (sorry if spelling is wrong) it feels like a second home.

I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for quite some time, paying an outrageous $249/month for access to their facilities, and I can honestly say this has been one of the worst gym experiences I’ve ever had.

First of all, the clubs are constantly dirty. It’s hard to feel comfortable working out when the equipment is covered in grime, the floors are sticky, and there’s a general lack of cleanliness throughout the gym. For a place that charges such high membership fees, you’d expect a much higher standard of cleanliness.

The equipment is also outdated and often in disrepair. I’ve experienced numerous machines being down for extended periods, and it’s frustrating to pay such a premium price for facilities that are barely maintained. Not to mention, the staff at the Rochester, Michigan location is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Whether it’s a question about a class or a simple request for assistance, they seem uninterested in actually helping members.

I recently attempted to use the leg compression boots at this location, which are supposed to be part of my membership, but was told I couldn’t use them because they were worried about members “breaking them.” Are you kidding me? If you’re charging $249 a month, I expect to have access to all the amenities available, not be told I can’t use something I’ve already paid for. And when I reached out to management with my concerns, the response was dismissive, showing no regard for the frustration of their paying customers.

In short, Lifetime Fitness is a total rip-off. The staff is rude, the clubs are dirty, the equipment is outdated, and the amenities you’re paying for are often unavailable. Do yourself a favor and find a gym that actually cares about its members, because Lifetime certainly doesn’t.

Before the Covid lockdown Lifetime was the best gym chain in the state. I joined like many others for the 24 hour access due to my career and work schedule. Currently not too pleased with my lifetime experience. The cost of membership continues to soar which doesn't seem worth it when the gym is filled with high school students sitting on equipment texting and using the gym as their personal playground and hook up space. Currently my family membership is over $230 a month that's $2760 annually not to mention increases every year. They canceled 24 hour access and know close at 11pm which means everyone is forced into the same limited time frame. So it's extremely frustrating to finish up a long day in the field pull into the parking lot between 5-7pm only to find a packed parking lot. Most of the time especially in tbe winter I just leave vs parking a football field away in the corporate parking lots. If it wasn't for the sauna I would've already cancelled my membership. I have plenty of friends at lifetime all feel the same way. Several times guest have to ask kids to stop talking on their phones while in the sauna it's a place of peace and quiet. They need to bring back the 24 hour access or make a new policy with 10pm-1am hours reserved for adults over the age of 21.

My only question for the staff is:
Why there is a Phone Number in the website if you guys won’t pick up the phone.
I needed assistance and could not found it online, so Needed information and since I am not from here, it is just very inconvenient for a tourist that need a Gym for 5 days.
Just take out the number from the website.

Unless you are in high school or over the age of 60 this is not the place to be. As soon as another gym gets a cold plunge I’m out of here. Lifetime does an excellent job of making you think it’s luxurious without actually making it luxurious so you give them a ton of money and they don’t have to put genuine effort in. The trainers must have the IQ of a turtle because I always see them taking up tons of space with a 65 year old dude that is going to go to the gym twice and then forget about his membership and not cancel for a year. I’m not one to stick my nose in other peoples business but when it’s a busy gym you need to be mindful of space. Don’t do a weird kettlebell stuff right in front of the benches and leg press where there’s tons of foot traffic. I can never play basketball either because there’s always something doing on in the courts. Everything that’s not the basic gym equipment (which is basically a social club for 16 year olds) is an extra cost. Going here is like booking an all inclusive resort and then when you get there you have to buy a day pass to the pool and pay for drinks. It’s a public pool and rec center that has a million 15 year olds to sit around and fold towels so they can justify charging over $200 a month. Unfortunately Lifetime has a monopoly in Minnesota so there really aren’t any alternatives. The gym equipment selection is nice and the quality of machines is decent. I wouldn’t recommend but I don’t really have any other choice.

if you are going to play basketball here DONT bother because they only have 1 court because they changed the other one to pickleball when they have a whole other building dedicated to pickleball a minute away and the only 2 hoops they have are terrible, one of them is 9’10 and not 10 feet and the other one’s rim is bent and they refuse to fix it and the courts are dusty every day and during the summer and some days during school year they have a kids camp all day taking up the court so you cannot play just terrible.

Been going to this location for the last 2 years, a few qualified trainers. Top of the list Jeff, Troy, Carl and Lisa.

It’s Luxurious, but frustrating when the basketball court isn’t available for your basketball. Hope they reopen the gym to basketball now that pickleball has its own space. We had to buy a $500 Victoria Rec membership so our kids could use the basketball court. This is ridiculous when we already pay about $5000/yr for a family of five at Lifetime. Also found out the new pickleball courts are not for regular members, but for another membership. I guess it’s the highest membership if you buy the pickleball court membership. So now regular members only get half a basketball court. Hey, CEO- if you ever read this: if another gym/athletic company opens up in the Carver County area, I’ll take my money there instead.

I consider myself an avid customer with Lifetime all over the Twin Cities and call Chanhassen my home gym given it's 3 mile away from my house. Ever since the pandemic (2020) it is a challenge to say the least trying to get my workout in since they got rid of their 24hr hours. I struggle sometimes getting there with enough time to workout and my therapy (sauna and steam room) after my session. I have adapted by getting there with just enough time and made it work. Tonight was the worst experience to the date. I was done with my workout at 10:42 pm and headed to the sauna. Within 2 mins of being in the sauna an employee told me they were closed and needed to leave the gym. I responded stating the gym hours say their open until 11pm and I still have time. The employee said we close this area at 10:45pm and I need to leave. I told her I would be just 5 more mins. She called another employee (Sam) to come kick me out. 1 minute later Sam came and told me I need to leave because they are closed. I also told him the club closes at 11pm. He told me to leave and held the sauna door open. I decided to head back to the locker room while Sam took pictures of me and threatened to have my membership flagged. In the meantime it's about 10:50 pm and there are still quite a bit of people in the locker room and the gym area they have not been approached as I was. I can understand these employee want to go home and close up but becoming pushy with a customer that pays over $100 per month in membership dues is not very professional. Customers should be allowed a grace period like any other business. In my 10+ year as a member I have never experienced this and would hope this changes.

The facility is great with lots of amenities. The staff also do a good job. Not quite as friendly as some of the other locations but still pretty good. The workout area is great and the equipment is in great shape. The new cold tub is amazing, love that they added it.

The only reason I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars is because they do not have the best hours. They close to early in the evening and I believe for as expensive as it is they should have longer hours during the week and especially on the weekends.9pm is a bit early for a Friday and Saturday.

Not cheap. But you get what you pay for. I have no idea why the average 3.7 stars. This is a country club. Childcare, date night out for parents childcare, swimming area in summer is like a resort. All the facilities are nice and kept up well, but what me and my partner have an issue with (she’s European from the Baltic so she is definitely much more grossed out than me when it comes to lifetime sauna etiquette) is how lifetime allows sweaty people that just finished a workout- in full workout clothes to go into the sauna without changing or showering before. It smells absolutely terrible in there, and everyone is on their phones and talking loud and few use towels to sit on which is pretty gross. If that got addressed, Chanhassen lifetime would be a 5 star.

We are a large group of friends who enjoy exercising together. We have been customers for months and this LT in Chanhassen, although it is one of the best equipped in the Twin Cities, is the one that treats customers the worst. The pool lifeguards are young, inexperienced and arrogant. On three occasions we have had an incident with them due to the way they have spoken to us or our children, even one of the managers, Ericka, was very rude when I asked her to explain the reason for her poor aptitude, she brought me a copy of the pool rules underlined rule number 13, in addition to reading it aloud in front of other clients who were also enjoying a relaxing swim, several people recommended to report Ericka's attitude to customer service, I sent two emails reporting to Ericka and never received a response. . Unfortunately my friends and family decided not to return to Chanhassen. We are now evaluating gyms from other companies.

Lifetime Chanhassen fitness center is a beautiful facility. I want to especially highlight one personal fitness trainer that I have been working with for several months. I have been having training sessions 2-3 times a month with Karl Ostroot at the Chanhassen facility. My overall goal is increased strength, balance, and overall fitness. Karl is a GREAT trainer. He tailors my training sessions to meet my goals. No 2 sessions are ever the same- the variety is great! My training sessions are really fun yet challenging.-

I know I would not be pushing myself this hard if i did not have Karl as my coach to motivate me. Karl is to be highly commended on his style of coaching. If you are considering a personal trainer, give Karl a try! I know you won't be disappointed.

I have been trying to schedule a Birthday party for my son and nobody called me back. I have left five messages and no call back. This is extremely disrespectful. How do you charge me every month and not return my calls?

I received a voicemail from my local club that the corporate office cancelled all of the kid's summer camps starting in July. No explanation was provided as the coordinator said the corporate office did not give them a reason to why the camps were cancelled.

Believe an explanation is owed at the very least. Inexcusable.

Extremely frustrating that Chan installed a freaking pickle ball court. There is literally no time to play basketball. Every time I go, there is always something going on, and when there isn’t, the courts are so dusty that they are literally unplayable. Pickle ball courts are for old people or middle age parents. Poor choices on poor choices being made… not a bright future

Very upset to learn there is now a 10% additional charge for 'premium' day at the Maple Grove Life Spa. Was not told of this when I booked my appointment -- only found out when confirmation call was placed. If my stylist was not a personal friend of mine I would have cancelled my appointment and found another salon in my area to start going to. Can believe I'll be only booking on non-premium days in the future. Corporate should be prepared for upset clients and staff on this one.

Luxury resort experience. In a club setting. Restaurant, coffee bar, spa, indoor pickle ball courts basket ball meeting rooms.
They supply towels soaps shampoo and conditioner in each shower stall
In the locker room they have big lockers for your gear locks are installed
I loved the steam room it did wonderful things to my facial skin.
All the great exercise machines, free weights,
This location has a water park for the kids, lap pool, two large whirlpools, a coed sauna,
Really nice.

I bought a day pass and was only disappointed that I had appointments that limited my time in the facility.

Friendly helpful, knowledgeable staff were constantly cleaning, asking you if you had questions or needs, it was like a mini, mini vacation.

The entire weight lifting area is a high school kids hangout club. It's moved beyond unenjoyable to lift here. It's overcrowded and dangerous.

Rules are not enforced.

Hello, you've reached the page of the Chanhassen High School after school activities club. Are you a middle school or high school kid who wants to do one set every 10 minutes then stare at yourself in the mirror while people wait to use equipment? Then this is the place for you! Just get Mommy and Daddy to upgrade to a family membership so you can loiter with your buddies after school every day. Don't want to actually lift? That's fine! Just stand around in large mobs and occupy multiple machines/weights for the better half of an hour. It's not like the actual paying members would want to use them...

Last night there was a group of 3 unsupervised children (no older than 12) running around the weight room and posing for pictures in front of weights that people were waiting to use. This is a normal occurrence as Lifetime is unwilling to enforce their rules.

Recently, I was bumped mid-rep while benching with heavy DBs. It was a HS-aged girl who wasn't paying attention because she was staring at herself in the mirror while sticking her backside out. Seriously. I could've been severely injured by the 80 lbs DB being knocked onto me mid-rep.

The split of HS-aged kids to everyone else on a standard evening is at least 75/25. This is not a comfortable or enjoyable place to workout. And as I alluded to above, it has become a legitimate safety issue. I plan to cancel my membership before I am severely injured by the mobs of HS kids that have 0 self awareness and etiquette. Hopefully, I can find a gym where I can actually use the basketball court.

This review is related to my experience in the past month or two (Chan). Also, it is not a reflection of the facilities or services, both are really good. The number of teenage kids who treat the weightlifting area as their personal hangout space had increased by a lot. Equipment hogging, bags on the floor, lack of common sense or basic gym etiquette is not there for a lot, not all of those kids. I am all for healthy life style for all ages, but not if I have to constantly deal with people described above.

To Lifetime Team: please do not respond to my review. Instead, find a way to address the issue before you start losing members. It may be easy to replace members, not so much public perception.

Made the basketball court into a pickle ball court and the other court is always used by little kids or events. I come here to play basketball not watch little kids run around like maniacs and get the court taken at 7 o clock. GIVE US THE BASKETBALL COURTS BACK.

I am shocked that the Chan Lifetime is now down to one basketball court. The same court that has to be shared with Club Care, Volleyball and any other activities that Life time chooses. The second court was turned into a pickleball court--in which you need to pay $10 to use. At a time when you could use more courts to accommodate the need--you reduce the amount you have. This summer when you have summer club care will there be any open courts for teens to utilize? When they reach 13 you charge them as full members, yet you do not keep facilities that a 13+ would want to use. Lastly I do not recall any mention in my monthly dues to the reduction of courts--nor do I see that on your website. Extremely over priced for what you have to offer

Too many kids use it as a hangout. It's to the point that they almost need someone in the weight room after school is out to monitor them.

Worst lifetime. How can you take out 1 of your 2 basketball courts for pickle ball. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays there can be up to 40-50 people playing or WAITING to play, just on 2 courts. Also there are almost always birthday parties on weekends leaving ZERO courts to play on. I know people that come from Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Chaska, Victoria, just to play basketball at Chan Lifetime. There is no possible way pickle ball will be played as much as basketball is played. I think that the decision to tear up one of the courts is horrible and wrong. There are many other options like tear up the side parking lot and put courts there. I will mostly likely be terminating my membership until another solution is found.

This review is how I felt before damage and theft to personal property in LifeTIme locker rooms and parking lots began ruining my member experience. The below review is now outdated. A follow-up will be posted describing what occurred and what actions I have taken to correct / prevent it.

Before damage and theft to personal property, this was my review:

LTC is where champions are made.

+ Whatever you want to achieve

+ However hard you need to work

+ Whenever you are ready

#AmpUp

There is little you cannot achieve, as long as you can see yourself achieving it.

This review is specific to the Life Cafe at Deephaven. I am a long time member of Life Time, and I love the clubs, staff and classes. I'm posting here because the Deephaven location won't allow images. Image is the shake I order, it's on the main menu, and it's $12 with tax. The last 3-5 shakes I've ordered are 3/4 of the way full in an already small cup.

It seems Life Time is more than adequately "surviving" post pandemic with the addition of Life Work, gym is busy/steady & number of members seem to be growing. The Cafe is overpriced, and as members we should receiving more value for the dollars we are spending above and beyond our dues for Cafe snacks/shakes/food. That's a sad looking shake, right?

Clean, plenty of equipment, friendly staff. Nicest Lifetime I have been to.

Edit: Post-COVID not a shining example of where I want to spend my time. Sent some feedback in to the store via email, never got a response. Changed their hours but prices stayed the same. Still a nice club but if you're going to cut out almost half of your hours consider lowering membership fees.

I support a client with disabilities, qith whom I accompany for workouts at this location. The staff is always extremely sweet and supportive, and never treats me like my presence is a burden.
Their equipment is immaculate, and they have a method to work out every inch of your body. The design of the gym was perfectly designed for a plethora of workout needs.
The MMA room is a dream to work out in, mostly because it is great for those who have inflammed joints. I want this room in my house!!
Personal Trainer, Kayla is wonderful, and ever so patient. She is an absolute gem!

They don't tell you that you need a reservation for the gym on the website, and you aren't allowed to use a guess pass for the gym. The fact that I pay as much as I do to go to this place and I can't even use it is so unbelievably aggravating. Not to mention the gyms are empty almost all the time, but I still can't use it because I didn't go to a website that they never told
me about, and I can't use my own guest passes.
