I normally go to Lifetime in Highland Park. I came to this location on Thanksgiving, called ahead of time about hours. Nothing was mentioned about the facilities and showers being closed 30 minutes before the club closes.
I took Yoga Sol. The second I stepped out the door they made an announcement that the showers will be closing in 15 minutes. The teacher saw my anxiety and re assured me everything would be ok. I RAN to the showers. There were two workers there that already shut them down. I begged to point of tears for them to please let me shower. They said they had to shut them down early regardless of announcement. I am now missing family Thanksgiving because I have nowhere to shower or change.
Im sitting here in the parking lot crying with nowhere to go. I just needed 5 minutes and an honest staff. The staff here has no heart.

I am extremely grateful for the staff at Crosstown for taking such great care of me when I experienced a medical emergency. Everyone was comforting, professional, and knew exactly what to do. From the bottom of my heart- THANK YOU.

Considering joining Life Time? Be forewarned:

Their fake marketing photos are *nothing* like the reality of the club.

It’s more like a used car dealership — including the slimy, rude staff.

Here’s what it’s *really* like:

1. Dirty equipment (you can wipe a paper towel across barbells and dumbbells and pick up lots of black, gross dirt)

2. Miserable staff (who probably don’t want to be there because Life Time pays crappy wages) who do the absolute bare minimum

3. Awful childcare where your children are unsafe because the staff apparently never received training on how to work with children.

Honestly, you’d have a better experience at Planet Fitness. I have no idea how this company remains in business.

Unacceptable Amenity Cleanliness and Closures
For a monthly membership fee of $180, the level of cleanliness in your gym's amenities, specifically within the men's locker room, is unacceptable.
Today, I encountered several issues. The sauna was closed without prior notice, preventing its use. Consequently, I attempted to use the steam room, but upon opening the door, I was met with a foul and putrid odor instead of the refreshing steam I anticipated. The floor of the steam room was visibly dirty and even contained a used bandage. I brought this unsanitary condition to the attention of an employee who was cleaning the locker room, but my concerns were completely ignored.
Given these observations, it is clear that the steam room poses a significant health hazard and should be prioritized for closure and thorough cleaning or repair. Members paying a premium price for this gym's services should not be subjected to such filthy amenities.

I was a member for over 20 years. The prices kept increasing while the services kept getting worse. I mostly came to play basketball which has been ruined by getting rid of half of the basketball space for pickleball. Even though the price of the membership is 5 times more expensive than it used to be they were always too cheap to provide decent basketballs. There were never enough basketballs and they were always in terrible condition. I would attempt to play basketball at night and there would be 40 kids on 2 hoops so it was impossible to play. If you want pickleball then build extra space for pickleball, don't get rid of basketball courts. The excessive greed and horrible mismanagement of Lifetime caused me to cancel my membership and lose my business forever.

I'm writing to share some significant concerns regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, as well as recent issues with customer service and product availability.
The steam room consistently smells dirty and has visible filth on the floor and side walls. The hot tub has also had the same residue on its walls for weeks. Additionally, I frequently observe a pool of urine under the men's urinals, regardless of the time of day. These hygiene issues are quite off-putting and detract from the overall experience.
Furthermore, despite being a daily customer for the past month, regularly ordering a shake and burrito, I was only recently given a stamp card. It's disappointing that the same employees who've seen me every morning failed to mention this program while watching me spend 100's of dollars. On top of that, for the last four days, there's been no Greek yogurt for the "Body Builder" shakes. While I understand supply issues can happen, it's hard to believe that no one can make a quick trip to a local store to ensure popular items are available.

This location is the Walmart of lifetimes. Towels and showers smell absolutely disgusting. The steam room smells like wet feet, I’ve never seen someone clean it. To top it off they are increasing their prices soon and I bet not one thing at the gym will get renovated with that money.

Besides the occasional loud and rowdy teens playing basketball, this is one of my Go To locations whoever I visit home.

Lockers tend to be clean, towels always fresh and stocked. Lots of equipments to work with.

But the best thing about this Lifetime is the staff. My fave Jenni and Deb are world class customer service extraordinaire!!! They are always a delight to be greeted by when entering the club.

“So THAT is what floss is?” I had to ask my granddaughter.

“Don’t look, Pops!”

“What if they’re everywhere?”

“Don’t stare!”

“How about googles?”

“Don’t make it obvious, Pops.”

“My tongue doesn’t hang out underwater, Honey.”

“Gross!”

“The name is gross, they should call those swimsuits ‘Goggle Wearer’s Delight’ or “Don’t Ogle Wear’ or..”

“There should be a weight limit,” she said.

“Doesn’t Lizzo wear that kind of stuff on Stage?”

“That stuff?”

“Don’t grow up, Honey.”

“There’s one,” she said. “Don’t point!”

“Don’t tell your mother.”

“Buy me that sandwich?”

“Deal.”

“And the smoothie?”

“Look at that one!” I said.

“The snorkel? Pops! I give up,”

Great club, but the price keeps going up. $240/mo for two adults. One benefit is that we can bring the kids over for free. There's a kids' child care with limited hours. Ten years ago, I believe my cost as a single person was $60/mo. Easy choice back then. Now? I don't know. Definitely thinking twice.

Not worth your money. It's blatant that they're not spending it on regular maintenance, let alone updating. They try so hard to be superficial, but when there's ceiling tile falling down and hardware that's been broken for months in the locker rooms, they're not fooling anyone.

Had to have an emergency medical procedure performed earlier this week. I woke up today and realized I had forgot to cancel a yin yoga class for Saturday morning. I called after the cancellation window closed, but 90 minutes before the class started. I was basically reprimanded by the person who answered the phone, they were completely unhelpful, unempathic and unconcerned with my situation. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak to, I was told there were no managers on duty during the weekend at this location then hung up on me.

Recently joined lifetime - reasonable cost for a family of 5, but honestly the best and biggest benefit is the kid zone/child care. The facility is huge and just what it looks like in pictures. Basketball court, turf field, small play structure and super engaging staff! It’s a gift for a SAHM to have time for self care. Whether I walk, workout, or simply enjoy an hour of peace in the cafe. Worth every penny!

For having to pay 180$ a month for not even the highest tiered membership you think their equipment would be better than this. This basketball has lumps all over and sounds like it was filled with helium every time you bounce the thing. I could write a short novel about how everything in lifetime is overpriced but I’ll just leave it at that.

Updating this review from my last one a few months ago. Not sure what has specifically changed, but I’ve noticed a big up-tick in cleanliness and attentiveness of the employees here. The length of time that machines have been out of order seems to have decreased as well.

While the bathroom will get a little messy during peak hours (towels on the ground in the showers, shampoo etc out), this also seems to have improved. Also it’d be great if people stopped throwing their towels on the floor and instead place them in the bins!

Lastly, I’ve been able to connect with the Sr GM, Cooper, and he’s been very receptive to feedback as well as seems passionate and motivated to make Crosstown an excellent Lifetime.

This place couldn't be more disgusting and over-priced. Sauna, steam room and hot tub all broken in the men's locker room. Steam room has been broken for weeks. Numerous tiles missing from hot tub and the locker room couldn't smell worse. Maybe if staff wasn't wandering around on their phones, there would be time to clean the mildew from the showers. None of this is new, place has gone completely down hill in the last 2 years. For $150 a month, you should be able to shower without gagging!

It's a great facility no doubt. The staff here (between trainers, concierge, front desk, and all support staff) is top notch. The issue is that it is very overpriced. I have switched gyms to a competitor and am personally getting the same benefits (I'm not a group class person, I train with free weight, kettle bells, etc...) for less than 25% the monthly rate that I paid at Life Time

We joined in October and will be cancelling our membership soon. Our family originally joined so we could take advantage of tennis lessons (extra $$ beyond the monthly membership fee of course) for our kids and yoga/fitness classes for the whole family.

In the couple of months we've been members, we've had at least 4 classes, including an entire weekly tennis course, cancelled on us with either no notice at all (meaning we showed up and they just said, "oh, sorry, no class today) or 3 hours' notice for our daughter's several-week course of tennis lessons (told us via email 3 hours before first lesson). So basically, it's just a bunch of workout machines and weights. Might as well save 90 bucks a month for myself and just join Planet Fitness if that's all we're going to get.

In the case of our youngest child, they touted their kids' fitness class offerings when we were considering joining, but both times we've signed our child up for a class, we've arrived at the club to be told by the kids' programming manager, "sorry, that class isn't happening today -- nobody is available to lead it." Um, an email or text would have been nice before we drove all the way over! Coincidentally, within an hour of the most recent no-notice cancellation, I received in my inbox one of their (many!) promotional emails touting their awesome kids' programs -- from the same dude who can't even be bothered to notify parents when classes have been cancelled!

So basically you're getting a gym with tennis courts that cost $30 an hour on top of the monthly cost. Not impressed at all.

And if anyone from Crosstown replies to this review with a "we're so sorry to hear you're disappointed, we try our best..." type of response --- I'll update my post to note whether they actually contacted me personally first to make these things right or if if they only try to deal with dissatisfied customers when they get bad Google reviews by replying to the public review...

Update: was never contacted about my complaints (also complained privately to no avail. Cancelled membership.

I have been member of Crosstown for 2 years. When I signed up, I've been assured that studios will be open for dance practice with another member of the club. The studios have been closed to public with start of the pandemic as there is equipment permanently laying on the floor. I get its difficult time, but both EP Athletic and Plymouth clubs have openned their studios to public. Communication with managers did not get anywhere. When I called corporate office they said that club's manager set rules of the club qnd there is nothing they can do about it. As a result I started going to Plymouth club to use their studios which is 20 minute drive for me, but as of last week they have raised their prices and as a member of Crosstown I no longer can attend. My membership has been downgraded from Onyx to Platinum without any communication. Nothing has changed in Plymouth location except for prices. Since I don't use LifeTime for anything else, I don't know why I'm paying $100 per month for a regular gym. Not happy with LifeTime Crosstown

I worked out yesterday, December 30th 2020, for the first time since the 2nd reopening. No showers, no saunas, no hot tub, wearing a mask while doing cardio? Tough stuff and all to be in compliance with state orders. It's sad and unfair to me that the Lifetime customer experience is so different from the Lifetime brand that we all have come to know and love. The worst part is that it's to no fault of their own. I have met so many amazing people in this communal environment and pray for the day that the high vibrational energy returns so we can all get back to training and becoming the best versions of ourselves once again. Thank you Lifetime members and staff, (Kristen) we appreciate your relentless efforts to keep us safe through these unusual times....

I want to applaud lifetime for handling a continued hold on my membership due to COVID19 concerns in a professional, fair, and direct manner; definitely made me want to return once safe to do so.

I have not visited the club since the initial covid lockdown so I can't attest to what the environment is currently like.

General notes on this club; it's totally adequate and has great options for group fitness classes. Not extremely fancy but has enough equipment / amenities; nice having the lifecafe for a smoothie or protein bar post workout. Haven't visited a diamond level club but the value / cost ratio at this location (platinum) is very solid especially if you take advantage of spin / yoga classes.

I love the steam room and sauna room benefits. They have a luxurious jacuzzi nestled in the locker room as well. The locker rooms are super spacious and may be the best for a Platinum holder. Great classes, some instructors are great, some are very judgmental which should never be the case. Old equipment compared to other Lifetime fitnesses but it does the job. Bad rating due to parking. Even the instructors complain haha but man oh man parking is a joke here. Given that this is a Lifetime that’s in a city and near a city where a bunch of Fortune 500 corporates are nearby, parking gets scary.

The main reason for this review is because of the yoga class schedule. I recently moved back to the cities from Dallas and was very disappointed with the lack of early morning root or heated classes. Yoga program at the Lifetime Crosstown facility is poorly managed. They have a new inexperienced yoga manager that doesn’t really understand that customer experience is at the core of any successful business. Yoga instructors here are generally good but one in particular is excellent, Josefina, with 14 years of experience teaching at Lifetime. Her Saturday morning class was always packed with anywhere from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Unfortunately, the new yoga manager decided to take over many of the classes for herself, including the very popular Saturday morning class. No consideration for the impact to the long term members that over the years have formed a nice yoga community at this facility. Now yoga class attendance for the same classes is significantly down. Many members have provided feedback in the form of phone calls, emails, and even a formal petition signed by 93 members with no resulting action whatsoever.

Meanwhile, the Lifetime flagship facility in Eden Prairie has now increased the number of classes taught by Josefina because they listen to their customers and recognize what an excellent instructor she is. So if you can afford it, go to the Lifetime flagship facility instead, much better managed. They even had Josefina teach a few yoga classes over the holidays (Christmas eve & New Years day) that were open to everyone, including non-members. What a great gift! Thank you Tracy (Yoga Manager at flagship) ...

I was a gold member in Nebraska where lifetime fitness has bigger than this fitness in comparison of building and its sq.ft . Not only that, it was comparatively more equipped than this one.

I used to pay around $75 including membership and locker (locker with code) was free for all but as soon as i came here it charged me $85 , they said this club is platinum. Ok, but even they charged you for locker extra $10 that would be somewhere around $95-$100. This will be crazy to say that, mens bath tap is so high if someone who’s height is 4.5- 5 ft you should jump to manage it and flow of water is so slow you will be annoyed.

And also high tension line is right to the building which i do not think appropriate for human body.

Be aware of the cancellation of membership policies. You will have to give them 30 day notice before leaving or they would charge you for another month. They don’t tend to communicate that clearly when you sign up.Other than that its a good place to workout and friendly staff.

Wide range of options to get a good workout in. Free weight area tends to get a little crowded but it is what it is. My real concern about this gym are the friendliness of the trainers (Not the front desk staff they are super friendly). The trainers need to be friendlier to the members that are not training with them, it reflects poorly on the gym...they set the tempo. I even helped a trainer move some a heavy object in the gym and the guy didn't bother to thank me. Roam the floor when you aren't training someone and heck maybe even give a random person a tip or correct their form. They will appreciate it and maybe even end up training with you.

This Life Time is directly located under a ultra high power 760,000 volt powerline which makes this one of the worst places you could workout if you want to be healthy. I feel bad for the people who work/workout here. It is very well proven that living, working near powerlines, especially ones this powerful increase risk of all diseases, depression and suicide. I laugh every time I drive by this location at how stupid humanity can be. Powerlines of this strength change the magnetosphere of the Earth 55,000 miles away, it’s probably not a good idea to workout within a mile of these, but the lucky people who go here get to workout directly under it. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Don’t believe me read the book “Going Somewhere” by Dr Andrew Marino

This is one of my favorite Life Time locations. It isn't usually super crowded, though it can be a little bit hard to find parking during January-February-March in the evenings on weekdays. However, the staff here are completely unbeatable. Bear is a phenomenal trainer, and Adam and Dean are the best yoga instructors I've had. The only downside that I've found with this location is that the hot tubs are in the locker rooms, so you can't go with your workout buddies of different genders. Otherwise, this one's the best.

This is an adequate Lifetime location. The basketball is decent in quality of court and competition for pickup games. The lockers are okay. They still have the keys instead of the combos for locking the lockers. Probably an insignificant issue for most, but once you get babied with the combo locks, it is annoying to hold a key during a workout or hooping.

Overall the club is nice. But the sales department is unprofessional. I called to talk to one of the sales rep who I signed up with about my membership. Mid conversation he over heard the person at the front desk looking for a sales rep to help a couple people sign up for a membership. Then I said I will just come in and talk to you since you're too distracted and he had the nerve to ask if I had said something? What a joke. If you want to sign up at Lifetime, go to Chanhassen and talk to Marcel or Mark the sales manager. I even tried to get ahold of the sales director at Crosstown and haven't heard back. So dumb..

Lots of elipticals, treadmills, stairmasters and stationary bikes. Seldom have to stand in line for a weight machine. Yoga, massage, spinning class, group exercise classes. Bball courts, Tennis Courts, Racquet ball courts, indoor and outdoor pools. Great locker rooms, whirlpool, steam room and sauna. Wish they had better shampoo in the showers.

Everything you need to get fit and healthy. This club has it all and the staff is friendly and helpful. I haven't had a chance to use the tennis courts but the cardio area is huge and there are plenty of weight machines and free weights so you don't have to wait long even when it gets a bit crowded. It would be good if there was more room in the stretching area but I'm looking forward to yoga and group classes and using the pool. The cafe has really good food and the spa is convenient. There's more but overall this is the one club I've joined that I go consistently to.

I'm a member there. There is a wide selection of equipment: basketball courts, racketball courts, pool, yoga classes, cycling, tennis courts, child care, a hair salon, snack bar, health foods and supplements. It is usually very well kept, and the staff and trainers are excellent. Overall, a very nice club.

I've been a member at this specific location for about 2 months now. On a Sunday night, I decided to take my younger brother who is 16 years of age with me to the club so that he could get a feel for the club and switch over from the YMCA he currently has a membership with. To get to the point on this specific night the front desk associate by the name of Brittney, had the audacity to tell me that I did not have the right to bring my brother into club as a guest due to the fact that he needs his parent or guardian to sign a terms and conditions form so that the club would not be held responsible for anything that could possibly happen to him while his at the club. I understood, and as his 19 year old brother, I was going to sign the form on behalf of him as his guardian. Unfortunately the front desk associate Britney, gave me the most absurd and preposterous response with an added attitude and said I could not sign the form on behalf as his guardian to bring him in. I was bewildered at the fact that she had the courage to speak to a member of the club as if she owned the place, and could careless for the level of customer service she provided. I was more so confused at the fact that she had the audacity to argue and tell me that I am not the guardian of my younger brother and would need my parents to sign the form for him. I have court ordered documentation proving I'm his guardian, and it would be more than absurd for me to carry such forms around if I want to bring him into the club. To save my self the hassle of arguing with this loon and driving 15 miles home to grab the documents to prove I'm his legal guardian, I was fortunate that my parents were doing some shopping at the Eden Prairie mall and I got the form signed by my mother. Once I got back about 20-30 minutes later with the signed form, Britney hit me with her pompous attitude and said "I'm sorry I didn't tell you this before but I can't let your brother in still because guest hours end at 8." I shouldn't be put through such obstacles when I pay a hefty membership cost to enjoy working out. I felt more than angry at this point! This all felt like an arduous journey to bring my brother into the club. I'm just upset management gave the opportunity to poorly trained, vain, front desk receptionist to be the face of the club. Will highly be considering cancelling membership. This was all illogical, horrible experience!

Overall, I really like going to this club. The atmosphere is luxurious and spa-like and it is not over-crowded so I almost never have to wait for a machine, even at the most popular times (the parking lot is another matter... it can be quite tight during popular times i.e. before and after work and 9-10am on Saturdays). There is a large variety of machines and classes, although I never really take any classes here so I can't review the quality of instruction.

I also like that the club seems to be improving over time. For example, they finally fixed their wifi (which used to be near unusable) and they just installed two free massage chairs that any member can take advantage of. I am especially thankful for the wifi improvement as it gives us busy parents the ability to get a little work done while waiting for our children's classes.

I also think that the pricing is quite fair for what you get - IF you use the gym regularly. My platinum membership amounts to about $7 per visit, including the two hours in the Child Center for my 5 year old while I work out. But I go every weekday, so for someone who doesn't go as much it may be a bit pricey.

There are a couple areas that would need to improve for me to give the club 5 stars.

One, the cafeteria advertises healthy and often organic food but in reality, their product quality is on par with gas-station food. I have seen them make smoothies using green, hard-as-rock bananas plus a mix of different powders. I would not call unripe fruit mixed with chemicals healthy. The sandwiches are made with cheap ingredients, the salads are made with watery lettuce and second quality vegetables, and the prepared box lunches always look a bit old. It's just very poor quality for such an upscale gym... I understand that some people will always go for the lowest price but it would be nice if there were some better, organic options for us more health-conscious members.

Two, the website. Oh my god, the website. The only thing you can do on the website is view endless ads for membership upgrades, branded protein drinks, partner discounts on Lasik, and so on. I have never been able to do anything useful on the site, such as look up or reserve classes or children's programs, upgrade or freeze membership, and so on. The site doesn't even deserve one star, it's so bad. I don't understand why we can't at least have the schedules of what's on offer this week or next. Lifetime management, please stop viewing your website as a platform to upsell!

*** September 2016 Update ***

I downgraded my rating to 2 stars, solely because of all the advertising. Since my initial review 2 years ago, the gym has gotten less about working out and more about upselling to members.

The worst offender is the noise. There are ceiling speakers all throughout the gym - literally nowhere to hide from the audio - and the gym management has advertisements for services and products piped through every 10 minutes or so. The commercials are so loud that my custom earplugs with 40 decibel noise reduction cannot block them out! (Yes, I got ear plugs made just so I could continue using the gym).

In addition to all the noise, they placed printed ads all over the workout areas, the changing areas, and even the toilets. On top of giant stand up posters all over, there are posters on mirrors, treadmill control panels, toilet stalls... every surface imaginable! You can't even sit down to pee without an eye-level ad telling you that your female parts are disgusting and need freshening with [insert product].

This is an appalling way for a club to treat its members. I find myself subconsciously avoiding going to the gym just because it's become such a stressful environment. I really hope the management reads this and looks at it as a wake up call.

Great work out facility but horrible management!! I canceled my lifetime membership several months ago. I went into the crosstown location and if I remember correctly it was the last week of April or the first week of June. I mentioned to the woman at the front desk that I would like to cancel my membership. She radioed back to somebody in member services who came up with a form for me to fill out. After I filled out the information on the form, I received a copy and the club or received a copy as well. Over the past month I have been receiving collection attempts from lifetime regarding a past due balance. After reviewing the balance, it showed that I owed membership fees over the past three or four months. I knew this was incorrect as I physically walked into their club and canceled my account. The woman that I have been working with at their corporate location has been extremely nice and professional, but useless. She asked me to find my copy and show it to them so they can zero out my account. I looked all over my house and my vehicle for my copy of the cancellation agreement. Unfortunately, I must have misplaced it or thrown it away. Lifetime can check my history of using my membership and tell that I have not been in their club to use their facility in over four or five months maybe even longer than that. They won’t even check their cameras to see that I was in there to fill out the paper work. I asked that they zero my account and stop the collection attempts. I did what they asked me to do by giving them a written notice that I am canceling my account. I do understand that I may have misplaced my copy of the cancellation agreement, however, I would not expect that a corporation like this to drop the ball and lose their copy as well. If this is happening to me, I wonder how many other people this has happened to.... I think a Class Action lawsuit should be filed against this company!!!

I have been a member for over a years and since December I have been experiencing the worst customer service.
Trend, the sales manager, lies to your face about providing you with false information and promises. The manager, Kevin, never takes responsibility and tries to bribe with free training hours when you complain. Lifetime corporate needs to take actions with this "aggressive" sales people. They are lazy and never responds with thrutful information.

I thought I was paying a premium for their service but I was mistaken. They lied to my face many times and they always invent excuses to keep you as a member.

I don't recommend anyone this facility!!!!
