This place will suck your soul dry with continuous, outrageous price increases with zero justification. CAGR in fees past 4 years averages 10%+. Only thing that matters here is LTF’s bottom line - which is fine - just buyer beware.

Did my first ARORA spinning class with Catherine. What a ride! She had us doing different things I hadn’t heard of in any other spinning class. I don’t want to brag her up to the point that her class fills up but she’s great!

I really enjoyed my experience at Life Time Edina. It’s definitely one of the higher-end Life Time locations in town, and now I see why. They have all the amenities you could ask for, including a sauna, steam room, cold tub, and even a sushi bar. The whole atmosphere made me feel like I was at a country club, not just a gym. I’m excited to explore more of what Life Time has to offer, and I can’t wait to come back!

I have been a member here for the past 5 years or so and I can honestly say it has done nothing but increase in price and go down in quality ever since. Within the last year they’ve renovated the second floor gymnasium (two basketball courts) to be a brand new weight/training facility and kept one court.
The problem is, don’t expect to be able to use either. The training side is now dedicated to personal training only (an additional paid feature) while the basketball court is unavailable every weekday due to the kids camp (another additional pay feature). This was proposed to members as an upgrade to the club, when in reality it took away a whole 1/3 of the club after dues doubled. I was directed by the staff to complain on the app because their hands are tied, but have not received any type of follow up from that.
On top of that, the main lifting area frequently has leaks in the ceiling. Not sure what they’re doing to actually improve the member experience other than the general features they push out on the app, nothing on the in-club experience.

Life Time Edina is truly next level. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a clean, top-notch facility throughout the club. Every detail is cared for.
The amenities are top—notch—from luxe locker rooms to various fitness classes, recovery tools, pools, training areas, and co-working spaces. It feels more like a wellness resort than a gym.
Shout-out to the management team for delivering exceptional service with a personal touch. Special thanks to Bowin Nguon for his professionalism, approachability, and consistent effort to make us feel valued.
Life Time Edina is it if you’re looking for a premium fitness experience.

Leaky cieling dribbling orange rusty liquid. Your hot tub sucks. It should be illegal not accepting US currency. Also if this is your flag ship store why do you have a tiny locker room and baby lockers. Only 2 toilets with one out of TP first thing in the morning is unacceptable! Usually you get what you pay for but not here. Target center is the best club in MN even though they took out the basketball court. (I used to look up to Bahram Akradi 😮💨 )The afternoon crew sucks morning chick with the glasses is very friendly and helpful.

Update: Dr. Oscar Nevermann is now at Crossfit SISU in Plymouth MN.
Transformational Care at Life Time Southdale – Dr. Oscar Nevermann is Irreplaceable!
Three years ago, I was in severe, life-altering pain with no hope of relief. I had tried physical therapy at Tria, consulted medical doctors, and even worked with a chiropractor, all of which failed to provide lasting improvement. Enter Dr. Oscar Nevermann at LifeTime Southdale – he didn’t just treat me; he changed my life. After only one month of working with him, I was completely pain-free and have remained so for three years.
Oscar’s approach is unlike anything I’ve experienced. His evaluation was more comprehensive and insightful than anything I had received elsewhere. He quickly identified the root causes of my pain – weakness in my left serratus anterior, posterior chain, and glutes, among others – and implemented an individualized plan that addressed these areas. Oscar didn’t just focus on exercises; he also taught me life-changing lessons in posture and movement: "squeeze the glutes, flex the abs, stand tall, and avoid letting your ribs flare." These simple yet profound adjustments transformed the way I move daily.
When I first started, I was terrified of using weightlifting equipment, fearing injury. Oscar’s expertise and encouragement not only made me comfortable but confident. His knowledge is unparalleled, and his ability to adapt exercises based on flexibility, pain, or fatigue is remarkable. He also excels at hands-on techniques, from massage to improving flexibility through manipulation, making him a true master of his craft.
Oscar’s impact extends beyond physical improvements. Before working with him, I couldn’t take a plane ride or sleep in a hotel bed without excruciating pain. I struggled to be present with my family due to irritability and emotional exhaustion from chronic pain. Thanks to Oscar, I was not only able to coach my son’s robotics team but also judge my daughter’s debate events – things that would have been impossible before. During trips, I went from lagging behind my family to leading them, with more energy than I ever imagined.
Oscar’s personal training clients range from professional athletes (including professional sports players and their families) to medical professionals and individuals like me – a dentist, PhD, and biomedical engineer. Despite our knowledge as professionals, Oscar brings it to the next level. Everyone who works with Oscar shares the same sentiment: they don’t want to give him up. His knowledge, skill, positivity, and ability to connect with people make him an invaluable asset to LifeTime Southdale’s community.
LifeTime Southdale prides itself on being a premier, country-club-like fitness center with a focus on exceptional customer service and a luxurious atmosphere. Oscar embodies this mission perfectly. His presence not only enhances the experience for his clients but also elevates the brand’s reputation as a facility that attracts and retains top-tier talent. LifeTime Southdale is fortunate to have someone like Oscar, and his continued presence is a tremendous benefit to its members and the community.
Dr. Oscar Nevermann is more than a trainer or therapist – he’s a life-changer. I am forever grateful for his care and expertise. If you’re fortunate enough to work with him, consider yourself lucky.

This explains what I have been experiencing at a gym I pay $299.00 monthly for.
I ask AI if Lifetime Fitness offers low-cost or no-cost memberships. YEP.
Conclusion
Based on the evidence, Life Time Fitness in Minnesota does offer FREE memberships through the Medica MinnesotaCare program. This is facilitated via the One Pass™ fitness program, which is part of the state's health coverage for low-income residents, ensuring access to Life Time Fitness locations at no cost for eligible members. While direct corporate policies on the Life Time Fitness website did not explicitly state such subsidies, the partnership with Medica confirms this benefit.

$400/month for my wife and I(another 60/month if we want to bring our 7 month old to the pool). Why is customer service from the front desk so poor? Also, I've been a member for 19 years and visited every club in MN, why is Edina the only club that the sauna and steamroon smell musty? How is this even possible at your "flagship" location? I'm going to miss many of the amenities. However, the current business model and price gouging make it very difficult to justify continuing the membership.

I’m a paying guest who came in for a scheduled spa consultation at Lifetime, hoping to receive builder gel services as advertised. Unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed and disrespected — not just as a client, but as a woman of color expecting basic professionalism.
From the moment I walked in, the tone was off. The front desk staff barely acknowledged me — her smile disappeared the second she looked up, and she checked me in with a cold, mechanical tone. It was subtle, but very clear. As someone who knows what racial bias looks like when it’s dressed up as “polite professionalism,” it was impossible to ignore.
I was referred to a nail tech described as a “builder gel expert.” But within minutes, I was told they “don’t do anything fancy” and offered only basic Gel-X or soft gel overlay options — despite me calmly and clearly stating that I was looking for a clean, structured builder gel set with minimal design. There was no curiosity, no explanation, and no attempt to match the care I came in with. Just awkward silence, deflection, and fake smiling until I left.
I expected more from Lifetime — especially at this price point and reputation. The environment, while polished on the outside, did not reflect inclusivity, warmth, or the high-quality client experience I came in prepared to pay for. I left feeling dismissed, unwelcome, and disappointed that a company of this scale would allow such surface-level service to represent their brand.
I share this not to complain, but to caution other high-standard clients — especially women of color — to ask specific questions ahead of time, and to be aware that this spa may not be set up to deliver the attention or respect you’d expect from a place with Lifetime’s name on it.

I experienced a truly disappointing situation at Lifetime Fitness that revealed their lack of basic customer service and human decency. After placing my clothes on a bench while I showered, I returned to find them missing. What followed was humiliating:
I contacted staff while wearing only a towel, and instead of helping, they immediately suggested I was at fault. They refused to check lost and found when I asked, and only reluctantly checked the front desk after multiple requests. Meanwhile, other gym members were commenting on how ridiculously I was being treated.
The staff eventually offered to go to Macy's but insisted on knowing my size first, as if I was looking for a shopping experience while standing there in just a towel. A kind bystander ultimately had to offer me their pants so I could leave with some dignity.
When I later spoke to the memberships lead about this incident, they dismissed me entirely, saying "since we did a locker sweep, you are owed nothing about the larger interaction." Apparently leaving a member stranded without clothes and treating them with suspicion rather than compassion is acceptable customer service at Lifetime Fitness.
I pay premium membership fees for what should be premium service. What I received was embarrassment, victim-blaming, and ultimately zero accountability. Think twice before trusting this establishment with your business.

Lifetime Fitness (Southdale) Review
I like the bar at Lifetime Fitness Southdale—interesting people come here. Since many people who focus on their bodies don’t drink, I was curious about their “one drink at a time” rule. Turns out, there’s an exception—if you order a chaser, you can have 8 oz of beer instead of a full 16 oz pint… for the same price.
When I arrived, I ordered:
• A glass of tepid water
• A Jameson whiskey
• A Guinness
The bartender, who I know was hired with no prior experience and little training, served me a full pint of Guinness and then left for several minutes to handle something at the register. Meanwhile, I was getting thirsty. Beer doesn’t quench thirst, so with a dry mouth, barely able to form words, I asked again for my water. She kindly brought it over.
After I finally wetted my whistle, I asked about my Jameson. She told me I couldn’t have it because I already had one drink.
I asked if they served boilermakers. She said no.
I asked if I could get a chaser with my shot. She said sure.
Then she took my full Guinness, poured 8 oz into a glass, and dumped the rest down the drain.
I tried to stop her, saying she should drink it herself or that I’d buy another chaser since my friend was joining me. But nope—she dumped it anyway.
Now, onto my actual reason for coming to Lifetime in the first place—I was meeting a friend.
When I checked in, I informed the man at the front desk that my friend would be coming to meet me and that she is autistic, so they should watch out for her when she arrived. He agreed.
Yet when she showed up, she was told she couldn’t come in because it was members only. Fair enough. But the real issue? She felt scared and uncomfortable because of their loud, stern voices.
If I let them know in advance that she was coming and even gave them a heads-up about her needs, you’d think they’d handle the situation a little more professionally instead of making her feel unwelcome and anxious.
So, here’s my verdict:
• If you’re picky about service or don’t like paying extra for chasers, you might want to avoid the bar.
• If you’re looking for good sushi, the salmon sashimi is well-priced and hits the spot.
• If you’re expecting considerate customer service, don’t count on it.
For a high-end gym that prides itself on service, this visit was disappointing.

Overall a fine gym experience, kind of busy. However, my 1 star rating is in response to their personal trainers calling themselves DPTs. I am a physical therapist. DPT is the professional acronym for Doctors of Physical Therapy, which is the level of education held by 99% of currently practicing Physical Therapists . Lifetime fitness has assumed this abbreviation for their personal trainers calling themselves Dynamic Personal Trainers. They take it even further by slapping this acronym in big bold letters on the t-shirts the staff wear. I believe this to be an intentional misrepresentation of their credentials to mislead consumers about the nature and quality of the services they are providing. Lifetime fitness is currently in a trademark dispute with the American Association of Physical Therapy, and it’s time for them to step up and do the right thing.

We initially joined the club when it first opened in 2019 and discontinued our membership during COVID. We were excited to look at joining again but were taken aback that club dues had almost doubled in the few years we had been away. Despite the increased costs, we saw the club was still being well taken care of as a premier location and new spaces like the rooftop pool and pickleball courts had been added since when it originally opened. We were told over the phone by member services that as prior members, the $200 joining fee would be waived to welcome us back to the club. When we went to go put pen to paper and finalize our enrollment, we were told that deal would actually not be something they could extend to us due to staff miscommunication. As a club that markets itself as a luxury product with a corresponding level of customer service, this was really disappointing to hear and unfortunately resulted in our decision to back out of re-enrolling as poor customer service was already evident at the onset of joining.

The worst lifetime I’ve ever been to. The locker room is a mess with towels everywhere. Both the steam and dry sauna smell horrible. People are constantly soaking (fully clothed) in the hot tub and then going into the dry sauna - leaving puddles of water everywhere. The management is run by teens, no open equipment, yoga rooms smells terrible due to lack of ventilation. All of this for close to $280? My husband and I put our membership on hold for a winter when we were traveling. We returned and paid the full monthly fee (including the rooftop pool) and they told us we no longer had access to the pool (after receiving the full pay) due to putting our membership on hold during the winter.

I generally enjoy Lifetime, but I had a disappointing experience with a staff member at this location. While I don’t hold a membership here, I am a member at another Twin Cities location. When I visited this particular location in July, the woman at the check-in desk kindly informed me that I was allowed five courtesy visits. Today, I returned for what I believed to be my second of those five visits and mentioned it to the staff member at the counter. However, she informed me that I was only allowed a single courtesy visit and denied me entry, even after I explained what I had previously been told. I ended up leaving, feeling frustrated. Other Lifetime locations handle situations like this with clearer communication and more flexibility. Given the membership costs, I expected better treatment.

Been a member at Edina for over a year. The facility, staff and classes are great. But a few things really bother me. I work late and so I sometimes go for a swim at night around 9-10 pm. I have seen guys swimming in what is obviously their daily underwear. Also, I rarely see anyone showered (wet) before getting into the pool. I pay the high fees for a hygienic pool so seeing these things being allowed really make me cringe. Also, the mens’ locker room sounds worse than high school at night. Groups of guys are sometimes yelling at the top of their voices and if they weren’t laughing too, I would worry about a brawl breaking out any minute. Can’t find an equivalent place for the combo of pool, services and classes so far, so I will continue being a member here. But I wish they would monitor the pools and mens locker room better at night and actually do something about it.

I’m a member at LT EP and have been for years, I really couldn’t love it more there. Thought I could expect similar levels of professionalism and customer service here at Edina, but no. I have had the worst interactions two separate times with the same front desk worker. Went in to ask simple questions and was met with such disrespect and sharpness that was so unnecessary given the conversation topic at hand. Do better LT. The staff and classes are great! The facilities are nice and clean. However, the groups of obnoxious, aggressive teenage boys who just sit on the machines to watch TikTok and fling the weights around make me want to quit this gym each time I walk in. On several occasions I’ve seen them carry heavy weights over other members who are on a flat weight bench. I’ve also seen groups of them stand around and harass other members in order to take a particular machine. Save your money and find a less stressful gym.

The staff are fantastic! It is pretty hard to find a team member who isn’t in a cheerful mood and always willing to help. They are constantly cleaning and putting used weights away.
The facility its self is very nice and definitely top of the line. You will not find another gym that is on the same caliber.
There are a couple reasons however that I am only giving it four stars. The gym is way over crowded. During peak hours it is near impossible to be able to have a productive workout without having to wait in a line to use anything on the workout floor. You will be sitting shoulder to shoulder with someone in the steam room and sauna. The staff are working crazy hard to keep things clean but because there are so many people they simply can’t keep up. I feel terrible for them. The hours, especially on the weekend, are very limited. This also makes it hard because by the time the gym is slowing down and not as busy it’s about to close. They reduced their hours when they reopened after Covid but it has been a few years now and they still are no where near the hours they use to have before Covid. I think enough time has passed that the gym should have better hours by now.
Overall in conclusion the staff are amazing, the facility is great! but it is too expensive to feel like I’m playing bumper cars every time I go. I end up leaving feeling more stressed than when I arrived.

I regret to share my disappointing experience with Jane Durkee, a worker I recently interacted with. Throughout our email correspondence, I observed a noticeable lack of professionalism and a concerning reluctance to engage in meaningful conversation. From the outset, it was evident that Ms. Durkee did not exhibit the level of professionalism one would expect in a professional setting. Her responses were curt, lacking the courtesy and respect that are crucial in any professional communication. Moreover, the overall tone of our exchanges conveyed an uncooperative attitude, making it difficult to establish a productive and collaborative working relationship. In any professional setting, effective communication and a willingness to collaborate are fundamental to success. Unfortunately, my experience with Jane Durkee left much to be desired in these aspects.

We had a terrible experience with Sarah who works at the front desk. I have never felt more unwelcome as a paying member of edina lifetime. She made my entire family feel unwelcome, less then, and like we were not supposed to be there. I firmly believe she has some biases against black people that should not be tolerated.
We pay for our membership the same price as the white members, and I doubt she treats them the same way. I will not be back to this location and we will be canceling our membership to go to Edina because of her mistreatment.
We will go to St Louis Park or Eden Prairie.
Above all, right now, everyone needs to be more kind and she did not possess an ounce of kindness.
This gym itself is not worth the prices given how busy it is, they have oversold memberships. Maybe Sarah’s job is to get people to cancel memberships. Well done!

this gym absolutely sucks. the equipment is your very basic equipment you could find in literally any gym. definitely not worth the high price tag. their classes are absolutely worthless- they do not listen to clients needs or desires in regards to classes and have bare minimum offerings at awkward times. this lifetime in particular (edina) has the worst offerings of all. not to mention their recovery center is absolute trash. the “hydro massage” is literally just water jets that go in a straight line up and down your back- theres no other settings- even LA Fitness has a better massage chair than this! the cryo bed is absolutely worthless and they only provide cold dipping baths in the MENS locker room and totally disregard providing this to women. the accupressure is very meh. and the hours of the recovery area are very minumum apparently bc “they dont have the staff” - well hire more? not my problem- especially considering how much we pay to ho here, clearly providing value is not their top priority. literally not worth your money- i highly reccomend going to one of the many other great fitness spots in town- where they actually have knowledgable instructors- every class ive gone to has totally sucked and not been worth my time. conceited staff who barely cares. everything about this gym is extremely bare minumum.

Literally the most disappointing location in the Minneapolis area. Everything is way over priced for what you get. Children are constantly unmonitored in the adult weight area. Talking up space as a social after school daycare. Hoards of kids taking up squat racks and bench areas for hours, snap-chating and social media constantly. The "members only" pool area is the same, screaming children everywhere. For $199 a MONTH for a single person, while these rich families get to add their kids for $40 or if you have a FIFTH kid its free is disgusting for a premium gym. This should be an adults only location for the weight area and roof-top. No exception for a "luxury experience athletic club" to be playing daycare for the rich. Go to the YMCA.

Just wanted to leave a review of this place after being a member for a year.
First of all, a bit of background - I've been training since I was 15 years old (I'm almost 40 now) and have worked out in probably over 100 gyms all over the world.
This is one of the best if not THE BEST gym I've ever been a member of. Any of the negative reviews are by spoiled little babies who get upset when their latte has too much almond milk.
First off, the facility is full of brand new equipment. No machines are ever broken for more than 24 hours before you see a maintenance guy lying on the floor with a wrench making it work again.
In terms of cleanliness, this gym is always spotless. You could probably eat off of the floor anywhere in this gym and it would likely be cleaner than the cleanest spot in my apartment.
Now let's talk about the management...
Guess what, 5 stars for them as well. And in fact this is probably what sets this gym apart from nearly every other gym I've ever worked out in. Yes, of course, everyone wants a job. But the staff here really makes it feel like your $200/mo is well spent.
They're always working hard, always accomodating, always greet you by name and with a smile. I mean honestly even if it's fake-corporate "niceness" (which for the record, I don't think it is) it still beats the disinterested stares and sullen-teenager DMV-type attitude that you find at most other gyms when you ask them to do something.
The staff here is actually super awesome. What I found very interesting is how the upper management will routinely walk the floor to clean equipment. You'll be on your way to your workout and see the GM in his slacks, dress shoes, and collared shirt wiping a corner of the gym (that nobody would ever spot test for dust in a million years) just to make sure the place is spotless. I really can't stress enough how impressive I found this that even the GM will get his hands dirty cleaning equipment and random parts of the facility.
The rest of the staff is awesome too. Trainers are pleasant enough (but mostly focus on their clients instead of schmoozing with members) and same goes for the cleaning/admin crew.
The classes here are top notch as well. I mostly only did the yoga classes (shoutout to Lindsay P and Patrick and the 75 minute flow classes) with some spin here and there. Very challenging classes, great teachers. Can't speak on other classes as I never did them but I'm sure they're of the same caliber.
The rest of this gym is similar to Equinox in that you have shaving cream, razors, moisturizer, good shampoo/conditioner, steam/sauna, jacuzzi, etc. It's like an Equinox except the staff is nice instead of snobby. Maybe it's a Minnesota thing, I'm not sure.
Another great thing about this gym is that the men's locker room has a cold plunge. I'd never done a cold plunge before joining this gym but it speeds up your recovery like no other and increases your work capacity for future workouts. Really amazing and once you start you'll get addicted.
Anyone who complains about this place really honestly has no idea how good they have it. This is EASILY the BEST gym in Minneapolis, probably even Minnesota. Show me 1 gym that even comes close. I should know, I'm a gym snob. I've trained at every major chain, Crossfit boxes, yoga studios, you name it. This place has them all beat. $200/month is expensive to you? I spend more than that on my morning coffee - you're telling me it's not worth spending that on a gym membership that offers all this AND is one of the few businesses where you actually feel like you're getting your money's worth?
I ended up moving to Miami so I had to cancel my membership, but this gym was great and the people working there are 10/10. There's literally no reason to join any other gym in Minneapolis. No other lifetime, crossfit box, yoga studio, nothing. This is the place to be. Thanks to everyone down there and if any of you come to Miami def hit me up on IG @stuartoden.

I was a member in Colorado for 4 years and have visited Life Time locations in 7 different states. This gym is, by far, a noticeable downgrade to the cheaper location in Colorado. The weight area is over crowded and the locker rooms and sauna area are very dirty. I used to sauna for 30 minutes every day, that stopped as the stench of this location became unbearable.

Connor is the most outstanding Group Fitness instructor that we have ever experienced. We have belonged to several great clubs and Connor stands out, not only for his precise instructions regarding best form, but for every detail of how he sets the atmosphere/attitudes and keeps a large group on track. We are impressed by the quality of Edina Lifetime’s facility but Connor was the best part. My husband & I believe, Connor should be teaching all the other Lifetime instructors how to create his secret sauce. BOOM

Beautiful facility, great equipment, clean showers with nice products. Always friendly and professional staff. I’ve never been or seen anyone treated badly there like previous comments state. The instructors and coaches are the absolute rockstars. ⭐️
There’s one problem though: with all the cleanliness of the gym and showers/locker rooms - YOGA MATS are still gross and stinky. 😷
And no - having a sprinkler with whatever water/alcohol that supposed to “disinfect” for people to use after themselves is not a solution, and it’s not working! It’s not killing the stench - can’t you AT LEAST put some aroma scent in it? Idk…
before moving to MN I lived in NYC for 10 years and was a member of a very similar luxury type fitness club for the same price and I know it’s not impossible to keep the mats fresh and clean by washing and changing them after every yoga class the same way you take care of equipment and showers … maybe change it for other types of mats - not so absorbing? Because it’s better to smell a rubber than someone’s dirty feet ot sweat of someone who used that mat before you… (and over abundance of suffocating hot yoga classes DO NOT help it).

Review of pool area:
Two pools (family/adults), both about 4 ft deep with step entry. There's also a separate section for outdoor food/drinks at the bistro or you can order from your phone and have food delivered to you. Cabanas available for rental but note these are set away from the actual pools. Great rooftop overall but if you're looking to actually swim, I would suggest other locations like savage or Chan.

This location treated me with so much disrespect. I am actively telling my network to never go to this location or to support lifetime fitness.
I’ve been a member since lifetime was Northwest Racket club, for 27 YEARS I’ve been going to the St.Louis park & Edina locations.
Edina is so disorganized and have such a lack of compassion , I will not ever belong to them or lifetime after my last experience. Such a shame because it’s such a beautiful facility. They clearly have no concept of recruitment, or guest service training. For how much you pay, to receive sub-par service is such a disappointment! If you’re thinking of joining this location, DON’T! You will be very disappointed.

This place is great for newbies, but the leg and chest exercise equipment is better at Crosstown. It appears to be great for classes and other things not related to strength training. Avoid 4-6pm Monday through Friday, very hard to get a locker or even walk through the locker room, and parking lot is a mess. The weight section is also very packed, it is full of Jersey Shore Characters and lots of teens on pre-workout.

This place rocks!! It was my first visit.. And when it comes to Lifetime Fitness.. I was surprised. You have to go up to third floor to work out. They have some machines that are brand new all different kinds. They have whirlpool in the women's locker room and beautiful steam room with subdued light. They is also is an option to do a Whirlpool out near the swimming pool. A dry sauna also exists. Talk about spoiling yourself. No card is used in the lockers you have four digits to remember. This is all I tried at my first visit. The free weights also were fantastic. It's located at Southdale... Check it out..

It is impossible to get into a class here! They hardly offer any classes to begin with. I joined thinking I’d attend a variety of classes each week. I just tried signing up for yoga today and not a SINGLE class with spots open. There are literally 17 people on the WAITLIST…and they’re all like this. Lifetime, if we are paying what we pay to go to this club…add more classes to your schedule. There shouldn’t be 6 hour gaps in the day where you don’t have a single good class offered (the whole day is full with hydro massage and other random things you can book but not legit classes). Unfortunately I’ll be canceling to go back to orange theory where they had classes all day everyday (and I recommend anyone reading this do the same and avoid lifetime). If you’re paying this price to use the overcrowded weight floor, not worth it. If you’re using it for classes, good luck, not going to happen. Disappointed at the lack of classes here.

I love the club and all it has to offer. Everyone working there is welcoming and helpful. When I joined a month ago and I was so disappointed to find out that the only ice bath available is in the MENs locker room. I heard about the ice baths and couldn’t wait for this to be a part of my workouts. This club is new, so I find it disappointing that having an ice bath is only for the men. Trial or not, it should have been put in both! I am not sure why it was overlooked for the women’s locker room, but it is sad that things are still not equal.

Always packed!!1 This club use to be elite, now they let Bloomington and St.Louis Park members in at half the price us loyal Edina members have been paying throughout the entire pandemic!!
Just go sign up there and get in for half the price we pay. If I wanted to fight over using a machine I would have signed up for LA fitness. I enjoy the shoulder to shoulder steam room with my 18 other closest friends. I also enjoy the lockers when I can find a open one but can’t wait for someone to break in and steal my valuables again.
Recommendation : give The loyal Edina members open bar at the pool so we all can rip drinks and discuss further.

I joined this club primarily for the pool, but it is impossible to enjoy it because of people, who are culturally incompatible with Americans.
Wild screams, fights and occupation of almost everything all around by privileged ethic groups makes it impossible for ordinary people to enjoy the pool area, sauna, jacuzzi, etc.
The price for this club is definitely not justified because of the issue I am describing.

Plenty of classes to choose from and friendly staff to answer you questions. This lifetime also has a sport area with turf and pickle ball. There are rooftop pools in the summer as well. I’m a huge Lifetime fan, and always will be! The GTX and ULTRAFIT classes here are my favorite. The instructors all rock, and the classes are hard— in a good way! However, there are a few things about this specific location that I don’t like very much. Firstly, it is always super crowded and the locker rooms are cramped. It is better in the evenings than in the mornings, but still—be aware! Secondly, I would love to use the rooftop pool, but disappointed with how expensive access is, especially considering how high the membership fee is. Also, I wish they would cover up or paint over the windows to the inside pool that separate it from Southdale Mall. It’s super uncomfortable being in my swimsuit while people in line at the shoe store can see me! But other than that, I love Lifetime. The Team Members are all awesome, the classes are great, and I will keep going there 6x a week!

Sauna in women's locker room only has 3 benches yet it is fairly big. In my opinion it is a poorly designed space. If 3 people all decide to take an entire bench by themselves, you either have to sit on the floor or don't use it. A few LTF clubs have double decker benches to optimize
the seating space. This sauna seems like an afterthought!

I love this gym. I don’t pay as much because I signed up prior to this club opening, so that’s nice. It can get a little crowded in the free weights and machines area, but not usually too bad. Lockers rooms are not very big, but it hasn’t even really been a huge problem for me, I can always find a locker. That’s just a characteristic of the gym that can’t really change. Facilities are beautiful. In general the staff is excellent. They really treat you as diamond members. The rooftop pool is beautiful. This year the rooftop pool staff i think has improved significantly. Much more attentive this year. The only thing I’d change is make the rooftop pools a little warmer, but that’s a personal preference.

It's the most beautiful gym in the state, for sure, but for almost $300/month - I'm not sure it's worth it (that's for two adults).
The pros:
-The customer service is EXCELLENT.
-No wait for equipment even during the busiest times, there's enough for everyone.
-The pools are set at perfect temperatures.
-The hot tubs are large and clean.
-The environment is classy and clean, it feels good to be there.
The cons:
-The showers in the women's locker room are FILTHY. Hair on the walls, floors, etc. Used razors. Sopping towels sitting on shower floors. Wish the clientele was as classy as the building and the staff. The drains spew a sewage smell that overpowers the soaps and shampoos.
-The women's locker room has an abundant amount of lockers in a very small space. Feels more like a prison, than a prestigious fitness facility.
-They offer countless classes for about 15 hours a day, but they lack options for rookies or people with limited mobility. Though they encourage ALL to join the "pros", it would be nice to join a class that is tailored to those that need "Introductory", "101", "Beginner", and/or "Low Impact" classes.
-It's just too expensive. For almost $300/month, we expected appropriate space in the locker room, immaculate showers, and classes that suit all levels of fitness being that we're all paying the same amount.

i have been a member now for a few months and have been a member of lifetime since they bought out crosstown. I have been a member to a few locations now and this one is very very flawed.
cramped is a good word. the location was not meant for the amount of people that are there. the bays in the locker rooms are cramped. the steam and sauna are half the size of other LT fitness rooms. the second floor is completely unusable now because of covid taking away from a place for lighter weight training and body kinesthetics. leaving the 3rd floor pool for everyone to migrate too.
poor preparation when setting up the weight room and cardio areas. i am not sure why there is so many of each one, but you can look at data from other gyms find the usage rate from other gyms and plan accordingly. the amount of weight machines are not bad, but the ones that are used often are always busy outside of closing time. a little foresight would have gone a long way in setting it up. the alpha outside of classes (that i haven't seen) is never more than 1/3rd busy. also cutting into room for more used machines and weights.
the YMCA feel, it would be the nicest ymca you would ever been to. the amenities are amazing i love that there is a sushi lounge right outside the locker room, and the look is fantastic. but it is over populated i cant go and really expect a work out from 5 -7:30 with out fighting for machines and throwing a routine out the window.
lastly the idea of paying 175$ for a membership per month and not getting access to the whole place is insane. i have read that they want a $200 dollar fee to curb the demand for the pool upstairs. but that is the whole point of the $175 fee. is to be "elite" and get the experience. this is no more no less than a money grab for some thing that you should get for free.
if I had the ability to go to a closer location I would. in my mind this location is a step up from the LA fitness down the street. please really consider before going. or getting caught up on the walk through

Overall I would say the gym functions pretty well, but lower ranked onyx gyms are designed better. The sauna design was botched pretty hard. Because they desperately wanted to include a stone feature wall, they knocked down the available bench space so only 6 people can use it, where if they did a traditional 2 level bench without the “pretty” stone wall they could easily fit 15 people. They also made a horrible decision to get rid of the traditional keys on a clip that they have in all the other gyms, making you wonder if you’re going to come back from the shower and be locked out of your locker, leaving you to go to the front desk in nothing but a towel to get them to unlock it for you. The locks they used malfunction constantly, so they have to send attendant to the lockers every 10 minutes for a lockout call. Management knows this is a huge issues, but refuses to fix it by replacing the locks. For this so called “caliber” of a gym, simply design mistakes like that really shouldn’t be overlooked.

I'm a diamond member and workout every single day, I used to go to Lifetime Edina to get my workout in considering I only live 5 minutes away. I chose to stop going there after I noticed that the staff seemingly obviously only say hello and goodbye to white people, I'm white skinned but of Asian decent, I get the staff might be busy sometimes but on multiple occasions I'll be leaving at night when only a couple others are at that same moment, why is it that they are wished a good night and I'm not even acknowledged? I've had instances on the rooftop pool as well, asking staff for help and feeling rather patronized by their response. Due to all this I have since chosen to start working out at St. Louis park, they do a much better job of making you feel welcome I would definitely recommend them over lifetime Edina. Lastly, I would've rated this 0 stars but that isn't an option.

The building is really nice to look at, and the staff seems friendly.
But I mostly use the basketball court, and it always seems to be dirty, weather in the early morning, afternoons, or evenings.
I've mentioned it to them a few times, dust everywhere, and the same scuff marks, sweat stains, and garbage have been there for weeks, some of it longer.... Plus the basketballs started out nice, and have now somehow changed brands and aged 10 years. Lets not forget to mention the dangling overhead light that was hanging on by a single cord for almost a month.... for what gets paid monthly I thought they would do a better job of taking care of things..

Gym is always packed. Impossible to find an open squat rack. Not worth the price. For being top tier I’m really disappointed. They shouldve left Bloomington North the way it was.

I joined right as it opened. It was a little disappointing, didn't provide much more than the amenities of the lower level LifeTimes, but it was a good location. I joked with my friends "It has really nice walls." It was a pleasant place to be. Lots of supplies in the locker rooms so you didn't have to worry about forgetting something. VERY nice staff!
A new virus that science knew little about began to spread so I went in to freeze my account. The poor staff member had to go through the indignity of telling me "It's really safe! All surfaces are sanitized a whole bunch!" (Paraphrased)
LifeTime decided not to waive the monthly freezing fee. I wanted to keep my membership. I thought that the community would work together to slow the spread and I'd be back in 6 months. But of course I cancelled. I shouldn't be expected to *pay* money because I wouldn't visit a gym I *wanted* to go to but wouldn't because the lives of the staff and members were more important.
Later I learned that LifeTime created some charity to help it's trainers survive the pandemic. I guess Lifetime is owned by some financial firm, I'll come back and edit with the name. It looked *really* tacky to ask regular people to pay to help them as opposed to their employers. I hope that it was just bad optics and they actually took care of their staff during this once in a lifetime tragedy.
I don't know when I'll go back to a gym again. But I hope that when I do I will choose somewhere else. I think a boutique gym* or not for profit like YWCA, YMCA or JCC will be where Iook first. I'll miss those pretty walls, though.

Went in today and was helped by Brandon, who was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. This club truly has everything you need, and everyone I've encountered on staff is amazing. Additionally, the Edina location is great for families!

In May the LifeSpa cancelled my hair appointment day-of when I had a wedding to attend that evening. After being told the spa couldn’t reschedule for a week (leaving me hanging 5 hours before the event), I received a call that someone would squeeze me in. They ended up charging me for the new hairdresser’s rate which was double the price of when I originally signed up, without any upfront warning! I would have done my hair myself instead of paying $120. If the club cancelled on me, they should have covered the difference. I wrote to the club and lifespa that day but no one ever responded back. I refuse to return for future services.
More recently, I planned an extended trip for a month to see family over the holidays. After calling the club 4 times (with no answer) I drove down to the gym to put my membership on hold, where I was gleefully told I would have to give a full month’s notice prior to putting my membership on hold, “unless I wanted to break my arm” (rude). Considering I was leaving that week, I ended up having to pay an entire month’s membership of $160 for nothing. In this Covid world, how is that even allowed? Terrible customer service.
