If there was a way to give negative stars, I would. However one is the only option!
My entire family has been with Lifetime for years. From cousins, extended relatives, all of us. We’ve been to multiple locations, but Savage has always been our “home gym.” We’ve always loved it… until recently.
Ever since the big turnover in staff, especially at the front desk and within management, the atmosphere has completely changed. The hospitality, the member first attitude and the warmth; IT IS NONEXISTENCE. The new front desk team does not show the professionalism or basic friendliness that used to define this location.
And what really pushed me to write this review is that there was an incident involving the General Manager during an evening shift that left a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t go into details here, but it was enough to make me feel truly disappointed and question the direction this place is heading. Where is the Lifetime Fittness mission statement?
We used to walk in and feel welcomed. Now we walk in and feel like an inconvenience.
This location used to be the best of the best. I really hope leadership steps in, listens, and brings back the level of respect, service, and care that once made Savage feel like home.

Issues with relational aggression prominently in childcare but not spoken up enough about to be changed-I haven’t trusted my kids in their care for years now and would never bring them back. price increases to $229 and then $289 a member (after previously paying $330 for a family of 4). There just isn’t enough equipment availability and amenity at the savage location to justify even coming close to the cost. It’s an easy no.

After having this membership for years, their constant price increases with zero increased value has us cancelling our membership. Moving on to dramatically better gyms for way lower pricing.

Don’t forget your phone or membership card at the door — they’ll make it a nightmare for you
I’ve been a Life Time member for over 15 years and always loved going with my family, especially for the family pool, which is the main reason we keep the membership.
One Sunday, I accidentally left my phone and wallet at home. When we arrived, my wife showed her active membership and politely explained that I’m on the same family account. Instead of simply checking my name and photo in the system, the staff refused to let me in. My three young kids were crying at the entrance, and rather than helping or showing any understanding, they turned it into an unnecessary scene.
I understand if a person shows up alone without credentials — that’s reasonable. But when you’re clearly arriving with your wife and children, all part of the same membership, basic common sense and empathy should apply.
After more than a decade of loyalty, it was disappointing to see how something so simple could have been handled with kindness, but instead became an unpleasant experience for my family. Life Time promotes itself as a family-oriented club, yet that day it felt like the opposite.

I wish i didn’t have to say this but i’m cancelling my membership and encourage everyone to do the same…
they expect you to pay $170 for a base membership, and they expect you to be judged and treated like trash for it!
i was paying over 300 for a upper level membership of which
i thought was already over priced but multiple bad experiences at 5 different lifetime fitness locations has made me realize how terrible this company is.
they are a prime example of greed and ignorance, they don’t care about the customer or the experience but only about increasing prices and lowering expenses.

I was a Lifetime member for years at this location but thankfully a Los Campeones location opened up in Burnsville so I have cancelled my membership.
Price:
The monthly price has consistently gone up multiple times over my time here. To even sign up now, it’s $169 plus tax a month for a single. It is ridiculously expensive if you’re just using it to workout.
Equipment:
Although there is 15 racks, during prime hours there are often Alpha classes that uses 10/15 of them. Additionally, because there is such little equipment, people have horrible gym etiquette and use the racks for exercises that do not even require the barbell or platform. Often personal trainers are encouraging this etiquette by training their clients on the racks that do not require the barbell.
Membership cancelation:
They require 30 days prior to canceling your membership even though the bank payments happens on the first of the month. They clearly can allow for more leeway but choose not to.
Guest Passes:
Although you get two a month, the same guest cannot come more than once every 60 days. They also have the most cumbersome guest check in process now where they have to register in the app.
Overall, this gym is not worth the money if you’re using it to workout. The equipment is substantially better at a Los Campeones at half the price a month.

***The Worst Childcare Experience
I’ve had fine, and sometimes even very good, experiences at Lifetime in general. However, I feel the need to share what happened at Lifetime Savage Child Academy because no parent should have to go through this.
On my very first visit with my baby daughter, I noticed something that immediately questioning me. There were two infants in the room: one baby was strapped into a bouncer, crying and clearly needing attention. Instead of tending to that child, the caregiver was sitting with another baby who was happily playing with toys, completely ignoring the one who was upset for awhile. Watching this made me seriously question whether the staff had the proper training or even the compassion needed to care for multiple children at once.
When I dropped off my 11-month-old daughter, I asked if I could quickly set down my fam things in the locker and come back in a few minutes to properly say goodbyeto my two kids. The staff member said yes. When I returned, my baby was leaning against the door, staring outside, alone. Wanting to help her feel more comfortable in the new environment, I took her for a short walk around the facility to show her the space and that her older brother was nearby. A staff member told me this was fine.
Then another staff member—who looked like a manager and is the reasons of this review, came up abruptly and told me my baby had to be in the infant room within 10 minutes. I agreed, but out of nowhere, she told me I was “not allowed to take photos.” At first, I didn’t even understand what she meant, because I hadn’t taken out my phone or shown any intention of doing so. I told her, “What are you talking about? I have no intention of taking photos—I don’t even have my phone in my hand.” She repeated the rule anyway. It felt frustrating and unfair, almost like she had accused me of something without reason. She looked embarrassed when she realized she had misjudged me.
Later, when I came back to pick up my children, the same staff member approached me again. She told me that my baby hadn’t cried when I first dropped her off, but did cry when I came back—which, according to her, “made things harder for the staff.” Then, in front of my 7-year-old son, she gave me unsolicited parenting advice, saying: “Don’t come twice, it’s a great parenting tip for you next time.” It felt like she was trying to “get back at me” for the earlier situation she had mishandled.
I was shocked. I had already explained—twice—that it was my baby’s very first time being away from me, which is why I had come back briefly (of course with permission) and why I picked her up after only 30 minutes. Instead of showing empathy or professionalism, she dismissed what I said and continued lecturing customer, who has two childrens—( so think carefully if you have one children, she will judge your parenting skill when your baby crying). Her attitude felt incredibly condescending and unprofessional.
Why should I be made to feel guilty for checking in on my child which I paid for all the service? Isn’t it their job to comfort infants and support parents during these transitions? Instead, I left feeling judged, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. This was the complete opposite of what I’ve experienced at other Lifetime locations, where staff have always been warm, reassuring, and supportive.
Frankly, I was embarrassed, especially in front of my son. No parent expects to receive parenting “tips” from a childcare worker in such a dismissive and unprofessional way. Because of this experience, I no longer feel comfortable bringing my children back to this location.
Parents with kids need support—respect, understanding. Sadly, that was not what I experienced here.

Horrible experience with some of the staff. I don’t pay $200 a month to get harassed as a grown adult by a bunch of immature teenaged boys that they have working there. The gym is supposed to be a safe place to focus on yourself and do your own thing. Not be judged and laughed at by the young men that work there!! Ridiculous they hire people like that.

The place is clean and has good quality service. But I had a very bad experience with the locker rooms, I left my purse in one of the LOCKED lockers. The next day I came to pick it up and found that the staff did not follow protocol(on the lifetime page it says that items are meant to be placed in a sealed bag, but I found mine out in the open where staff can easily access it) Worst of all there was $70 missing from my bag

We recently came to the Savage location as guests to enjoy the pool facilities. The staff rudely told us to put away our cooler as “no outside food or drink is allowed.” This was pretty shocking to us as literally every other summer pool I’ve ever been to allows this. There were other families caught off guard by this “new rule for this year”, forcing little kids to eat in the locker rooms. Seeing as how they have a bistro, I can think of no reason for this rule other than corporate greed; they just want to extract as much revenue from their members as possible. This rule killed all interest I’d ever have in joining Lifetime. Not that Lifetime cares, of course, as the place was completely packed; the towels ran out, the locker rooms were overflowing, and people were everywhere. Not enough genuine care for members, despite the generic (most likely AI-generated) responses that they will most likely leave on this review.

Just signed up with the club yesterday, but had a bed feeling about this facility, the first impressions did not meet my expectations, As a new member to this facility, you would think the front desk would give you a tour round the facility, and information about the club,, but no, they don’t seem to care if u have questions about the club or what not, Disappointed!!
Will try out the club a few months and update more

After 15+ years as loyal Life Time members, we are extremely disappointed. A situation at the Savage location was handled unfairly. While some team members did contact us, no one took action to resolve the issue in a way that respected both sides or made us feel valued. Despite all our efforts—calls, messages, even visiting the corporate office—we were dismissed. Life Time chose to support staff without hearing our full perspective, which goes against their mission of fairness, integrity, and community. At this point, it feels like they care more about money than the families who have supported them for years. We truly hope leadership reflects on this experience and makes meaningful changes.

They make it hard when canceling your membership, an are very adamant on the 30 day policy. Even if it's a week before the next month. Account is paused and they will still be pulling out of my account because they need my money more than me even though they are a billion dollar company. Front desk was rude & didn't care at all. Didn't offer to speak to a manager or anything

The clases are awesome, the gym floor has great equipment, the installations/pool/bathrooms/outdoor pool are good too, the personal is awesome.
The big down side is that they switched the kids club hours and they close at 7pm mostly everyday, why do the offer a class from 6:30pm to 7:30 pm if they are going to make me pick up my kid at 7pm and missed half of my class. Really sad that this is happening. But why do they do that to working parents and the only time to have time for themself is late afternoon/night. The kids club personal is awesome tho.

First time at rhis LTF on Wednesday, 11/20, due to its proximity of where I was. Not my regular LTF. The layout of this club is smaller and two floors and going up stairs is harder with my disabilities, to reach the other equipment , so I didn"t like it based on that. No SAUNA in Men's locker room, but only steam room. No cold tub, or hot tub/jacuzzi either in locker room.
One thing I noticed, and bothered me was the combo lockers didn't shut flush to the lip, they had a lot it play after you lock it up up, which worried me someone could bust it open! Showers are the standard small showerheads at most LTFs locations, and lack pressure and I couldn't get hot, hot water, just not hot enough, which us a first at any LT I have been to, but they are shower doors and not curtains. The LifeCafe is spacious, though, but the staff didn't greet me at all and I didn't place an order. Not a fan of thia location, but it is okay, for weights on first floor, and a tepid shower afterwards.

I really enjoy going to LT. I go for the yoga group classes, typically, and over the last couple of years I’ve slimmed down, gotten more flexible, and have really gotten a better handle of my breathing. It’s been a fun journey. My kids- when they go- love the waterslides and lazy river. And, IMO, a better rate than some specialty clubs out there there. It’s certainly been worth it for me!

Me and my kids loved this place so much, until I got signed up for swimming clases for one of mi children when I didn't even signed up for it myself! because I don't have extra time for that, so why would I do that?.... I called to see if I could get a refund since I saw the charge for $65 on top of the $200 I already pay monthly. It was definitely disappointing because they will charge me for another month because I was supposed to cancel 30 days in advance for something I didn't even know I was signed up for! So just be careful with that or anything else they might "mistakenly " sign you up for. Other then that great gym but very unfortunate experience.

I absolutely LOVE the Studio and SGT classes. There are a ton of class formats and times to choose from so I don't get bored. The teachers are great and there are people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels in classes so it's not intimidating. I LOVE GTX classes - it's a great mix of cardio and lifting. My boys also can shoot hoops in the gym, use the pool in the cold winter months and use the outdoor pool in the summer. Our family uses almost every offering in the club. I highly recommend the GTX classes!

I started going to Savage 6 months ago after moving from Edina. It was really hard to leave the community at the Southdale club after making good friends there for 4 years.
I’ve done pretty much every format of class at Savage now, and my 2 favorites are GTX and Amp/Edg. The bar was high for me as far as fitness instructors go, because the best of the best are at Southdale. Cody and Rachel have gone out of their way to talk to me and make me feel welcomed, which has been really lovely. I truly appreciate them taking the time to do that, as a lot of instructors have not, even though I’ve attended their classes on a regular basis.
My son also really likes the childcare staff here. They have always gone out of their way to be friendly and welcome him by his name, which has helped the transition.
My son also gets his haircut at the Lifespa, and it’s the best! Thank you for making Savage Lifetime our new community.

I am a SAHM and I take my little guy to the daycare while I get a workout in. They have been so incredibly friendly and accommodating to him, especially bc he is one that likes to be held and has some separation anxiety. Most everyone has been kind and helpful! I appreciate their help so he can socialize and I get to do one of the barre, yoga, or GTX classes! They offer 45 minute classes, which is perfect so I can get back to the little man. Specifically Riley, Chandra, Sasha, Jeremy, Sosa, (spelling on some of these names hopefully is correct, but they are truly the best.)

So glad I canceled membership after 3 years at Lifetime Savage, MN! They kept increasing membership fees, to $110/ month and had to pay during their frequent remodeling shutdowns when I could not use services for weeks at a time. I also had to buy many cans of Tinactin to kill athletes foot, I caught at Savage each week. Now I joined Planet Fitness for only $10/ month plus they have 2-3 times the machines, and no wait time like Lifetime Fitness because of people sitting looking at their iPhone ! Best thing I ever did was to go to Planet Fitness!

Lifetime is a great place for working out and doing other sort of things. The pool is great but it should be a little bit bigger because it is a little small, 3’0 to 4,0 inch
The outside pool is amazing but it is too shallow, it is 3’0 to 4’0 inches outside. It had a lazy river with a side and a volleyball court, ( the sand burns your feet 😂 ) but beside all that, there was a world pool aka hot tub, a steam room, and a sauna. Besides all of that, the dislikes I don’t like about Lifetime is they don’t open 24hrs. They don’t make the pool 14 and up “ because of safety “ they should make it 14 and up because their parents are out to watch them and it finds to leave them because they can watch themself. (Lifetime should change this rule pool 14 and up with a parent gardening to watch them at all times )

The only reason for this low review is to bring attention to the LafeCafe team member, particularly the girl who was scheduled to cover 10/10/23 8:10pm shift, she needs to be taught a thing or two about customer service. As I approached the register, I did see the "we'll be back in 10 mins" sign, but within that 1 min this staff girl walked around the area, dropping off the floor mop on her way in, saw me TWO times and didn't say a word, but grabbed her phone for a solid 2 mins and didn't bother to give a heads-up in how mins she was planning to "be back" to help me check out. I chose not to bother her, & gave her that additional min in case she needed to wash her hands , send a 30sec text, but got nothing (maybe she doesn't know what "communication" means). I'd expect common sense customer service when we pay that high amount of club dues. I should not need to be the one trying to get her to speak, when she already saw me TWO times, and didn't say a word, she could've mentioned "hey! I see you, I'll be with you in XX minutes". This is the minimum in customer service. If the girl is "not in the mood" or doesn't want to work at that place - then maybe she should not. Aside to this experience, please note, the front desk staff and the towel desk staff are wonderful and the club is in excellent condition every time I visit

Lifetime gyms have the best kept facilities. Cleaner restrooms. Private showers. Nice stacks of towels. Way more likely to find an open machine, weights, or equipment than any other gym. Not to mention some of the latest equipment. Nice, motivating environment too. It is not a jock stereotypical place. All sorts of people go. With that said.
This Lifetime has large slides into an indoor family pool area. Sauna and Whirlpool are in the pool area as large coed locations where you can watch your kids have fun.
Down side is small lap lanes of about 15 meters.

Peak hours at this gym have become absurd over the past 2 years. To the point where you’re waiting 15-20 minutes at a time for anything in the lifting area, machines or free weights. Whoever decided it was a good idea to have 1 club as the closest location for 4 cities (Burnsville, Savage, Shakopee, Prior Lake) is out of their minds. The southwest suburbs desperately need another location.

Parents/family room for changing to go swimming post. I have a 1 year old daughter and I loved the ambiance of the outdoor swimming. The only extremely hard thing was how small the shower room was. There isn’t an option here like at the Lakeville location for a shower/bathroom. I normally shower my daughter and I after we swim but it was hot in the tiny shower room and no place for my toddler who got fussy due to the small area. I will continue to go to Lakeville location for swimming.

Many of our former clients have made this their go-to gym, and anyone new to the area would find great value in this fitness club. I was enrolled in this gym a few years ago for 3 years, then finished and now re started, excellent environment, clean normally supplies are complete and the staff is good. I see not too many members using them for training but it's ok. There only thing that's I will want to change is more communication and mentoring training. Trainers sometimes are not full in their shift. And more inspection to the supplies to avoid some of them are out. And here in Minnesota many places for going. Equipment is modern and almost new and most are in use without problems. Space is enough. Gym needs dedicated more one to one train couching to help fulfillment customer visits

Lifetime in Savage is home away from home. I moved here from Northern Nevada and I appreciate how friendly most of the staff is. It is probably the cleanest gym I have worked out at. They really work at keeping the maintenance up on the machines. Special shout-out to the following: Betty, Jimmy, Austin x2, Angi, Nancy, Jack, Alex, Spencer, Rachel x2, Adam and sorry if I missed someone that I know. Thank you for always making my day.

Good classes and staff / instructors. Nice outdoor pool area and indoor pool with large hot tub. Sauna and steam room are great. Weights area could be bigger for the afternoon / evening crowd though.

This is a nice club. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five stars is because the machines are not as nice as the ones at Edina. Pretty dope club. Outside pool is nice for the summer. No deep end. Life café is awesome. All of the lifetime staff are super professional polite and awesome. Love the summer time teas ⚽😊⚽🍏 Nice to come here in the summer. Nice pool for kids 🎱

I do actually work out here too. What's great about lifetime is that it's multifunctional. I can get a sweat in, grab some protein and then chill by the pool. Their childcare is also excellent and my son has never had anything but good things to say about it. I've never tried the salon and i can't say i will as i have my own stylist I've been seeing for years. It's nice to know the option is there though.

Lifetime never disappoints. It is pricey but I am not able to find a better gym... With all the amenities they include it's a no-brainer and even though it's expensive I would never complain. They make you feel happy and all the things you can do around there! It's perfect! Saunas, whirlpool, steam room and other amenities are just a tip of the iceberg why I keep on coming back as an addict! Haha

Little bit over priced for a membership but it has it all in gym equipment. Basketball quart bit small and packed though my favorite part about this gym is the pool area and steam room. Only thing I had a complaint on is the fountain water it tastes the pool water here. It seems like the filters never been replaced yet in a while. But good place to workout and a judge free zone.

Went here as a guest on a Saturday with a friend. Place is so nice -- they have deadlift platforms with pads that soften your lifts. I would have definitely signed up here if I didn't live far away in Shakopee. 15 min drive every day for 5 days a week would suck.

This is a great fitness center with plenty of equipment, a gym, indoor & outdoor pools and friendly staff.
There is towel service and the locker rooms are kept clean.
It is best to avoid going between the hours of 4 and 7 PM on weekdays when it gets very crowded.

As myself being a committed member, I have to be brutally honest and say over this past month I'm disappointed in the cleanliness of various parts of the facility. 2 good examples, the handicapped stall inside men's locker room has not been cleaned in past week and I can prove this, also the seating area by main entrance had inches of dust on table and plant, with the amount of employees inside this place daily none of this should be a thing!!!

Came in to check out the pool at Lifetime Savage and I was pretty disappointed to see that they had strung some lane lines across the short width of the pool. Not sure how long these laps are but I estimated it to be about 18 yards.
As a masters swimmer, this pool was unbearably hot (at least 84+ degrees when I was hoping for a 78 degree pool). I could only swim around 6-7 strokes before flipping which made my workout very tough combined with the hot water temp.
Most of the other people in the pool were aqua jogging, it's clearly not a pool for competitive swim teams but would be fun for families with kids. There is a large hot tub in the back area, which was packed with people.

This gym is huge! It’s clean. Never any issues getting to the cardio equipment I need. Some of the weight machines seem to be used by a class all morning so that part is frustrating to work around. I tried coming earlier and have tried coming later and still there’s a class on some of the machines I need to use- so maybe they are running back to back? If I could figure out the new hours of those classes it would be a lot easier to plan what time I go. Other than the classes I usually don’t have issues using other fitness equipment I need.

So I am in the military and just home on leave, they kindly offered me just a month membership with papers to already put my cancellation in, the people there are really nice and will try to get to know you not as just a customer but as a person as well, whenever I am home on leave I will be looking to have these guys as my gym at home until I am home for good, as long as there is no start up fee since I was already a member.

Diamond in the rough! That is what I am going to be calling Mark who represents your front desk. Your company could not ask for a better welcoming representation . Someone greeting you with your first name with enthusiasm. You can tell he enjoys his position and the people he sees daily. I have watched someone walking in at 5:30 in the morning, barely awake, not looking happy. They open the door and Mark says good morning "_____" and they have the biggest smile on their face and you know he made their day. You cannot teach someone how to treat people, he has it! Hold on to this employee and take care of him, he lights up ALL of our mornings. You rock Mark!

This location is extremely clean and the employees all friendly. The entire staff was cleaning today. I don’t think it is possible for germs or viruses to survive here. I can’t believe it was ever shut down, probably 10x cleaner than most places that were open. If I get Covid and die here, it was meant to be.
