PT Kelly R. at this location is wonderful. I have been working with her for over a year and she has helped me in my fitness journey so much. She is supportive and pushes you to keep improving. Cannot recommend going here and see her enough!

The remodel is awesome, but unfortunately my membership went up $30/month. I hope there’s not more rogue increases, but how would I know? Really nice facility and the staff is all super nice & hardworking! I assume corporate management must be difficult, lol.

The renovation of the space simply ruined it. The added expenses to membership cost while lowering the usability of the space (creating empty nothingness while packing in equipment tighter than before, dedicating some workout spaces to far too loud open air classes). There is no pool or true sauna to justify the price alignment with other gyms in the network. They are greedily trying to sign up more members while not expanding locker room space which was already too tight to begin with and renovations that scream "lowest bidder" energy. This space was a slightly overpriced quiet nestled location, now it an exorbitantly overpriced loud mediocre gym.

Good facility, well-equipped. Only 2 stars because while the LifeCafe has staff active behind the counter, nobody wants to run the till and clear orders. I draw the line at waiting 10+ minutes.

I honestly hope lifetime goes out of business. I used to be such a huge supporter. For the culture, their business models, how they really seemed to understand how a company should operate... then it felt like they turned a leaf and that they could see was greed. You raised your prices during covid of all times without adding any benefits. You kept your increased prices without adding any benefits. I've been to almost all of the locations in this state of MN. I went from absolutely adoring and rooting for the company, wanting to back it with every part of me to protesting it with all of my being. You've changed, you've sold out, you used to be an idol, a company to inspire others, and now you're just icky capitalists. That's my opinion, that's what I feel I have witnessed over the past 10 years. It's all my opinion, how I feel, and I will never support a company that could have been a great place for everyone, when I feel it chose to be a place only for the elite. A place I feel and only in my opinion chose to discriminate. These are my feelings, beliefs, and opinions. I in no way state them as factual.

Angel in the med spa is AMAZING- every time I see her, she works her magic and my face looks amazing. She is especially good at lips- all my friends ask me constantly who did my lips… even over a year after I got them done. Never going to anyone else for that!

Zach who works at the front desk is awesome! There were issues with my account when it went through account changes. I went through a few hassles so I was about to cancel. I recently moved in the area and thought about canceling… until Zach helped me. He went above and beyond! His help made my night and I am happy to say I am still a member. This is definitely my new favorite lifetime. I have access to other locations with pools, hot tube…etc but i dont really care about that. The layout of this place is awesome, love all of the amenities, hydro massage chairs…etc. Thank you Zach!

Im an Eagan member which I love, visited highland park and The renovation just doesn’t make sense, nobody needs a massive flour with just cardio machines and recovery considering there’s more cardio machines downstairs. Plus I lost my locker key, asked for help to the operations team and all I received was a passive aggressive attitude from this red head chick working on Sunday night. Super rude Like if it was hustle helping me. Bad bad service.

I won't join for one reason, the 30 day membership change/cancellation policy. What possible reason could there be to require 30 days notice to cancel? There is none other than an opportunity to charge outgoing members for another month that they are not interested in. Why are gyms so sleazy when it comes to membership policies? As a business, if you have a dissatisfied customer, allow them to terminate their membership at the end of its current term.

I've been an off and on member of this gym for years now!

The only reason I have left in the past was due to moving around, but it should say something that I keep coming back. The staff are always so kind, the facilities are lovely, and the classes I've taken were fantastic. The layout may seem a little strange to some, since there are multiple floors and other businesses are sprinkled throughout, but it's incredibly easy to navigate, plus I can make convenient stops at my bank when I need to. They also just completed some renovations and the workout area feels much bigger.

Thank you, St. Paul Life Time staff, I appreciate you!

If you're able to go before 4pm or after 6pm then this location is convenient and nice. If not, do not waste your time. Between 4-6pm all free weight racks are taken by classes, leaving dumbbells and other free weights to be luck of the draw for use.

We love this Life Time location right in our neighborhood! It’s cozy but incredibly well-equipped, the staff is very welcoming, and we have had a really positive experience with the Kids Academy (our toddler LOVES going to the “kiddo gym”). Obviously wish there were a pool or basketball gym, but there are clubs nearby with those amenities. I wouldn’t trade the overall vibe and convenience of the HPK location just to have some of the “big gym” amenities. Excited to see the renovations being completed this fall, too!

Kinda gross, closes early, no steam room, no pool...I think lifetime needs to sell this location off to another brand or put some effort into maintaining your own standards. Your towels I suspect are not the same as in other locations, in the same way that sometimes McDonald's chicken nuggets are amazing and other times they're cardboard. So different that they could not possibly be the same. You towels hurt my face.

This particular location is not at all on brand with other Lifetimes. It’s cramped and underground so no outside light ever. Most of the classes are great but the class schedule is MUCH smaller than all other locations. Not to mention that they recently increased rates but now make you do all your own work (set up and clean your own stations after a class). This causes a major bottle neck and takes forever if you need to get out of there right after class ends. I’ve seen people not even clean their equipment so it’s an incredibly unsanitary practice they’ve implemented. Plenty of employees are standing around so I’m not sure it’s a staffing issue at all.

★ 3

Parking is awful (ramp is small, scanner to get in/out is very finicky so lines get very long), the workout areas are in a basement so no windows and it can feel claustrophobic, there are fewer classes than other locations, plus there no pool, steam room, gym, or other amenities the other locations have. I’ll continue to go here since it’s the closest option, but I wish it were better. The equipment is good though and the workers are all great, so it’s not all bad. I would be more understanding if the monthly cost was less than the bigger and better locations.

Knowing ahead of time that this location may not have what others have (pool, indoor track, etc.), It still has a ton to offer. It's got free weights, cardio equipment, class offerings, a spa, and nice locker rooms. I'm able to get a well rounded workout here and have felt very welcomed ever since joining. Plus, I don't hear much grunting from guys doing lifts. So, 5 stars from me!

Great gym. They need to hurry up and open the sauna though.

Edit 9/15/20: Sauna is still not open. Seems strange that you can run on a treadmill and lift weights close to someone and breathe heavily but not use the sauna.

Edit 11/5/20: Sauna still closed for some inexplicable reason. You could stretch with a partner like a Chinese finger trap out on the main floor, but God forbid you want to take a sauna.

Edit: Sauna was opened and all is right in the universe again

Horrible experience at this LifeTime. A month after joining they raised my membership fee to $80/month - $15. There is no pool or steam room. It is located in the basement of a business center. Very few squat racks. I came from Chanahssen Lifetime which is an Onyx and payed then same amount and received three times the amenities. I just got off the phone with a representative, they have no empathy for financial situations in COVID. Would not recommend this club.

Today they told me they have a 30 day cancel policy, in which I'll be billed for yet another month against my will, whether I like it or not and there's nothing I can do about it. Except a formal complaint to the Minnesota Department of Commerce and the Minnesota Attorney Generals office, as well as the BBB, all of which I'm in the process of drafting as we speak.

If I could leave 0 stars I would... Terrible costumer service!!
I was invited by an instructor to check out her class and this location, we show up and attempt to check in the front desk not knowing where to go for said class. I asked the girl behind the front desk where was the class and explained that we were invited to this class and didn't know if I had to sign up or check in, that's when Lorraine the Manager on duty steps in and says "There's no instructor here by that name. You will have to wait, IF she shows up and check in with her." We said ok, and processed to sit and wait while Lorraine glared at us from behind her counter. Sat down maybe for 10 minutes and felt completely uncomfortable while the MOD stared at us like we some filthy homeless person bothering her prestigious LifeTime Fitness.
Needless to say I won't be back to this location anytime soon, I'll stick the Roseville and Lakeville location.

Instructors here are personable, know what they’re doing and haven’t had a bad experience with any of them. We are all here for one primary reason: Health. I mainly come for Warrior Sculpt. Lifetime claims to be the top of the line gym and all about their customers, but don’t let the image fool you. They have hidden fees for everything and attempt to lock you down on your membership. Watch out for the signing fee that is “discounted” with whatever promotion they claim to be having that week. Yes, you can put your account on hold if needed, but expect to pay their service fee and monthly fee while your membership is on hold - and make sure you give 30 days notice... They’ll also set you up with a free session with a personal trainer when you first become a member....It’s not a workout, but an hour long sales pitch from one of their trainers. Make sure to read the fine print if you become a member and ask the right questions or you’ll get taken for a ride.

The best reason to go to this location is its trainers. They're generally pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful in pursuing your goals +/- your self-sabotaging behavior. I also like that the club is small and, outside of peak hours, it's rare to be falling over other people trying to use/find the equipment--perhaps outside of the squat stands.

Adapt. Overcome. Improvise.

Now, even if insurance/work didn't contribute to the dues, I'd still go there as: 1) it's close, 2) it has everything I want/need outside a pool/whirlpool/steam room, and 3) it's by a lot of my amenities.

I only knock this location as: 1) it could use renovation and 2) the parking ramp is a death trap.

I have been a lifetime fitness member for almost 20 years and have almost always enjoyed the facilities and amenities. Recently I have felt a decline in the customer service at the gyms and experienced a more high pressured sales mentality of the staff. A recent customer service incident with Claire in the corporate office has reinforced our decision to cancel our membership and prevent us from recommending Lifetime to friends and family.

We no longer live near a Lifetime and after having our membership on hold for 9 months we were charged a monthly fee (increased from last year.) A reminder email was sent, but ended up in our spam folder. I asked to be refunded the fee, but was told they wouldn’t do it and that it was all in our contract. There was no attempt to make things right or even empathize with my frustration. Her tone was dismissive and condescending. When asked to speak with her superior I was told that they wouldn’t take my call. At this point it’s not about the money, but the disrespect and rudeness from the customer service representative-Claire. After twenty years as a customer I expected to be treated with some level of respect and kindness.

A positive interaction may have not changed our decision to cancel today, but has severely effected our view of Lifetime Fitness and what we will share about our experience with others.

AWFUL customer service & borderline criminal cancellation policies.

You must give 1 month notice (only so they can profit off you for another month) then they will reactivate your account without permission and say “nothing can be done”.

Everything they do is for profits - they don’t care about customers at all.

Saw a lot of 1 and 2 stars at this location.. Wow! Haters gonna hate! I switched to Lifetime for one reason - availability of the stair master. I needed to do 60 min of HIIT cardio after a 1-2 hour workout 6 days per week. I float for a large group dental practice and am in a different city each week. I also hate wasting time in traffic so I always go to the gym after work. Anytime Fitness had many more locations and I have since switched back. I was unimpressed with a few things for how much I was paying for. The St. Paul location is underground and the floor is uneven, I found myself embarrassingly tripping over nothing. The back weight room cable section smelled like puke for the whole 3 months I was here, I did report it but the smell never went away. I appreciated the sauna, but wished there was a steam room. I was displeased with the cleanliness. The upper support beams throughout the basement floor had about 1/4 inch of dust which you could see clearly while using the stair climber. I go to the gym to train for physique competitions - this gym has every piece of equipment that you would ever need, is well spaced out in an organized manner, and you will never be waiting to use a piece of equipment which I appreciated! Colleen at the LifeSpa does a great job at a deep tissue massages and I may return to this LifeTime just for the LifeSpa. I don't have kids and don't play basketball or tennis/racquet ball or swim, so the lack of these is not important to me and did not carry any weight in my review. Christine, Tonee, and Cisco are excellent employees, the staff in general are super friendly, informative and helpful. I have been to 6 or 7 LifeTime locations and this location by far has the best customer service - this is why I am leaving 4 stars instead of 3!

I am suspicious of the business practices. I had put my membership (and rate) on hold for $10/ month. Lifetime allegedly sent me an email that the cost of this hold would go up to $23, I however did not see it. So apparently I signed a contract allowing lifetime to increase the rate to hold my membership at the gym (not even attend) by greater than 50% ($10 to $23) whenever they want. They started deducting this amount from my checking account without any acknowledgement from me allowing the increase. I gave them an opportunity to do some service recovery prior to writing this review.

I also recall when I first joined that my initial charges were different than I verbally agreed to with the rep. I discussed this with the rep, who did not agree with me. It was only a 20-30$ difference so I said forget it, as I was happy with the gym at that time.

Long story short, the gym is nice but you need to watch your checking account closely. Read your contracts line by line. Know what you are signing in the electronic box. lifetime is a premium gym and it is hard to find similar service levels elsewhere for the actual gym. Maybe they take advantage of that? It seems that there are other reviews with comparable concerns regarding billing issues.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would! This place is a total scam! First off, they got us in the door by saying we would receive a discount based on the insurance we had. Of course, that did not happen. We were trapped for a few months due to some personal training sessions that we had purchased when we first started. The trainer was really nice, but the results were not worth the money. When my husband tried to cancel our membership in May after the training sessions had ended, they offered a membership where he would have access to digital work outs for approximately $10 per month. During this time, we have had way more charges than $10 per month due to membership change fees, etc. My husband also lost his Lifetime dollars without any notice due to switching to the digital membership. After being totally fed up, my husband cancelled his membership this week. Today, there was an $80 + charge on our bank statement. When he called, the GM said that she would not refund the money as he had received an e-mail in August that his membership was going to be resumed after summer. It is not our fault that one of the employees incorrectly inputted information regarding our membership status. If this is not taken care of ASAP, this will be reported to Lifetime's corporate office and the BBB! This place has been a waste of time and money. The stress incurred dealing with this place far exceeds any of the health benefits!

Facilities and instructors are good but their business practices are not customer-focused.

This is one of Lifetime's oldest clubs, and among the last to get upgrades. No pool or whirlpool, either. Group fitness is great, though. Try the Wednesday 6A kickboxing or the Sunday 10:45 A boxing boot camp classes.

Nicknamed "The Subterranean Spa" this location does not offer all the amenities, no pool, no steam room, locker room is small and basic, but for workout facility this place is great. Front desk staff are always friendly even at 5 am, personal trainers - Dennis and Steve - always helpful when you have questions on routine or a machine. I also agree with other comment that the clientele are the best. This is not a "hang out" or "pick up / social joint." Best suggestion, made by Steve - personal trainer, if you not have a workout buddy, someone to keep you focused/dedicated, make a regular time, get to know the members on the same schedule and they become your workout "buddies"

I joined Life Time Fitness in September of 2014 and have exclusively gone to the Highland Park location. My main reason, besides trying to get/stay in shape, for joining was the Childcare Center. I have three young children at home, which makes it difficult to exercise. Also, I hate exercising outside in the winter. When I signed up I only added my (then) infant daughter. The total cost was $90 a month. This may sound like a lot until you consider that I bring in my daughter nearly every time I come in to work out, which ideally is about 12 times a month. Also, my insurance (Medica) pays $20 to the next month's premium if I go at least 8 times a month.

The facility is very clean. I've never had any problems with any of the machines. The Childcare workers are pleasant and easy to talk to, and they do a great job watching the children. The parking garage can get full at busy times, (Monday morning) but I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a spot to become available.

I haven't taken any classes yet or made use of personal trainers or the LifeSpa so I can't comment on those amenities.

I highly recommend this Life Time Fitness location.

After becoming a member on February 11th and not being given an opportunity to try the club without paying I went ahead and reluctantly joined. Now, less than 20 days later, I have received the worst customer service as I am trying to cancel my membership.

Really like how clean and well maintained the facilities are at this gym. The locker room is a bit small, but clean. The staff always seems friendly and the people who frequent this gym are there to work out (not socialize). The equipment is great. My only complaint is how the Yoga classes work - the classes seem to be crowded all the time and if you don't know the social etiquette for this particular gym, you find yourself without a space or mat!

Yeah, it has many machines, but if you're asking for anything else forget about it, its not going to happen. Personal Trainers are snooty, most classes I have been to have been sub-par from other gyms I have been to. The front staff is useless and seemed like they rather be doing something else when you want to check in. The cost of the membership is far to high for the treatment from the staff there. The account managers are very agressive to sell you packages, the LT bucks are basicly useless on anything esle other that PT. If you have any other experience in working out and exercise programs or yoga, the personal training is pointless. The life spa is over rated and overpriced. I highly recomend finding a different gym if you want good classes, and be treated with respect and feel better after the work out than worse.
