The classes are descriptive and the smoothies are great, too! I appricate the welcoming vibe every time that I walk in.

Where to begin..I feel fantastic after joining a class at Moto Yoga! The staff and instructors are knowledgeable. I find balance and harmony throughout the session and in my everyday life. I enjoy the guided flow, deep breathing techniques, the warmer temperature, and the joy of the cool shower afterward. Amazing! The connection of mind & body. Peace.

Love the vibe here! Classes are well taught & welcoming even for beginners like myself. I have had zero issues with membership things - you just email them if you need something handled and they usually reply in a timely manner. They even paused my membership for me when I was gone on a 5-week trip.

Very predatory billing practices. It doesn't appear possible to cancel your membership online. You cannot delete your credit card info. You cannot even delete your account, which they try and dissuade from doing by stating you will never be able to rejoin using the same email address, when you have an active membership. The location is fine, classes are fine etc, but it is extremely scammy to run your business like this.

I had been coming here for roughly 4 years. Classes were great. However during covid I bought a 20 pack of classes to support the business in April 2020. They didn’t even start the-opening their studio until November of 21. Which meant I had 5 months to use all the classes when they were still figuring out scheduling and switching things around. Needless to say I ended up apparently forefitting 13 classes because I didn’t use them in time.
I thought I was doing something nice and it ended up having a 2 year use it window.
I’m disappointed and frustrated on the rules.

I joined Modo during their intro month for $39 and it was genuinely such a wonderful decision. Every single staff member is friendly and welcoming, making it a treat to walk into the studio each time. Molly is AMAZING at making you feel included at the studio and called me by name after our first (very short) conversation - may sound silly, but it made my heart swell to be remembered. The classes have a gentle approach with lots of variations so you can practice at whatever level you're at. As a newbie to yoga, it has been super helpful to try different teachers and classes. Anytime I have had questions, Cathy has emailed me back promptly and has been helpful in answering all of them. The Modo team is truly unbeatable! Looking forward to getting a membership and continuing to practice in the hot room. Thanks Modo for bringing such a joyful start to the new year!

I live in Illinois but travel often to Minneapolis for work and a friend suggested I try out this studio. I’ve taken two classes and really like the flow and the approach towards identifying with your practice. Erika did a great job of leading the class in a way that invites you to challenge yourself while remaining rooted in your intention. I’ve found everyone to be very friendly and inviting. Also the showers and other elements of the studio are great for getting ready once you’re done with class.

Modo Yoga is my favorite place in Minneapolis. It's a happy, healthy, sustainable and supportive community with great staff (and food!). I can't imagine doing yoga anywhere else. Phil's music is also top notch and I appreciate that they support all levels of people practicing. Thanks, Modo for turning me into a yoga person!!

I've been meaning to write this review for a few months but I thankfully got a wonderful reminder this morning. It had been years since I stepped foot into Modo yoga, a bit anxious, I was warmly welcomed by a familiar face. Brandyn had remembered me from many years ago and was genuinely happy to see me back in the studio. Brandyn's genuine nature and warm presence was a timely gift from the universe when I needed it the most. Yoga can be intimidating but the crew at Modo are inviting and always make you feel comfortable before, during, and after your practice. It is the people, the community that really sets Modo apart.

Most of the instructors at Modo are great, but the owners (Ryann and Phil) never made me feel welcome, so I ended my membership after the first 4 month commitment. The first day I walked into Modo, Ryann was sitting behind the desk meditating, and when she saw me, she dismissed me and yelled at another co-worker for unlocking the doors 3 minutes too early. Over the course of 4 months at yoga the sentiment from Ryann was consistently the same: making me feel unwelcome, unseen; she never said hello. Same reception from Phil: usually too busy to look up and say hello.
The final straw for me was when Modo sent out a notice asking everyone to wear tops in class during a month that they called "tops for all". I found it incredibly offensive, dismissive, and naive to ask the majority of their clientele (WOMEN), who ALWAYS wear tops in class, to do so. The only people NOT wearing tops in class are some of the men. I asked them if women are even allowed to go topless (bare chested) in class, and after some defensive response they finally said that yes, women can go topless in class .. but clearly that will never happen!
Most of the other instructors are great .. I just couldn't rationalize supporting Ryann & Phils business with the reception I got from them.

A couple of key staff members (including Phil, a co-owner) have challenges with professionalism. It finally got to be too much, so I cancelled my membership -- after keeping my full membership active throughout all of COVID. The instruction team (Phil included) is really talented, but if you're a non-male student who has an issue or concern, you can expect to be dismissed and/or treated like a problem. I really hope the culture changes, but it's too taxing for me to deal with anymore.

Another important (and related) factor: Modo Minneapolis recently announced it was moving toward a mandatory-tops policy for all students... but when a couple of men complained, Modo leadership immediately reversed the policy. Modo's membership is ~10% men, for reference. This gives you a sense of Modo leadership's priorities. (If a woman in menopause can handle wearing a top to class, a man can wear a top to class. If a woman with a BMI of 30+ can handle wearing a top, a man can wear a top. If a man can wear a top everywhere else -- including to the gym -- he can wear a top to practice yoga.)

Modo was the only studio open, due to Covid, when I purchased a membership. It took me 1 hour to drive there from Wisconsin where I live. Before 1 month month was complete I realized this would not work and requested a cancellation and proration of money paid. Cally told me I was required to stay for 4 months. I asked that I pay the standard fee for 1 month and cancel. She then charged me for November, knowing I’m not coming, said she canceled the next 2 months and said she won’t refund what she charged me after I requested cancellation.

I walked in to Modo about a month ago for my third ever yoga class... From the moment I first showed up, with no mat or towel, and 3 minutes before the class started, Phil and the entire staff have shown me nothing but love. I wanted to try hot yoga to help with my recovery from ACL, MCL and meniscus surgery, but after 20 classes, I've found so much more than a new way to do knee rehab. Modo yoga is literally rehab for my entire life! I now understand why my mom and sister are such yoga junkies and I can't wait to bring them to my yoga community the next time they're in town. Thank you to the entire crew at Modo! Looking forward to eventually getting the birds of paradise pose, but in the meantime, I'm happy I've finally got the bow pose on lock!

I've been going here for roughly 5 years and figured it was time to leave a review. This place is simply amazing! The studio and the staff are both very welcoming. It just feels like a giant hug when you walk in.

The classes .... they are always great because the teachers are tenured and spectacular!

Lastly, the facilities nice and always very clean.

Giving one star just because I can't choose zero. I am writing this review based on my customer service experience. I was out of town for work for a week and always like to try different yoga places when I travel. I practice yoga essentially every day and not that it started on purpose, but today is day 80 in a row. I decided the other week to try to get to 100.

I was in town for a conference and a very busy week but I wanted to get yoga in daily. Moda sparked my interest but based on the schedule there was only 1-2 days it would work (I like a hot vinyasa).

I was aiming for the Tuesday 4:30pm class. I ended my day of meeting and sprinted back to my room to change, ordered my uber, and on my way down called to ensure they had availability. I mentioned i was coming from out of town, that my timing said 13 minutes out (it was 4:15) and if i could do anything to make it more seamless when i got there. The girl told me to register online and enter my cc info to make it easier. I had even mentioned it was my 74 day in a row.

I got out of the uber at 431. When i walked in there and checked in it was 4:32 (I didn't even have my shoes on). I was told they had last call for the yoga class and I couldn't go in. I thought this was a joke. I looked at her, confused, and asked if she was the one i spoke with just minutes before on the phone - she said yes.

I took a deep breath and then proceeded to ask if there was any way i could go in- as i just came all this way. She said she was sorry but no out of respect for the class.

I asked her if she perhaps thought it would be a good idea to tell me this while we were on the phone. I want to be very clear - I am not upset that they (apparently) have a strict policy. I respect that. What I am furious about is as I called and I mentioned I was coming in from out of town, running to get my uber, and 13 min out she didn't stop to say "just so you know we have a strict policy where we can't let people in after class starts". Had she said that, I would have said no worries and I would have tried somewhere else. All she kept saying was she was sorry, but she wasn't. Again, I travel for work a lot and have met some amazing people from yoga places I have visited - all have been so kind and caring, and then this?? On the customer service side, perhaps she could have let the teacher know and said "hey, we have a girl who is jazzed about trying this class - she's on her way but she may be a minute late....can you save a spot towards the door so she can come in after centering?" Again - this was not even 5 min late. We are talking 1.5 minutes late. It was so rude and so unprofessional. Again - I don't mind you have a policy - but I should have been told that.

Also - someone showed up for the 4:45 barre class a minute late bc of traffic but that was okay. In addition, I must have filled something out a few days prior and I got a text saying it was someone from modo yoga and if i had any questions. I actually responded to the text because I did have a question and no one responded.

To sum it up - the class would have been awesome, but I wouldn't know because of the poor customer service, and I will never know because I will never give them (ANY of their locations) a chance again. The yoga community is really close and I already shared this experience with many others both in MN (at other yoga places I practiced at) and home. I know a lot of people and will make sure everyone knows this story.

This practice and particular studio has changed my life in so many ways since I joined 7 years ago. There have been times when I’ve had to quit or wanted to try something else (the gym) but nothing has come close to the inspiration, healing and non-judgement of the Modo community. I have been in a personal search for a yoga community for the past several years. From the moment I attended the first class at MODO (shout out to Cait for my love of Barre), I felt apart of something bigger. I love that when you walk in the owners are there - they know you by name and have genuine conversations with you. This studio is guided and inspired by seven pillars which are visible in the MODO experience. I highly recommend giving MODO a chance to see for yourself the amazing, supportive, positive community that Phil and Ryann have created here in Minnesota.

My motto for Modo is β€œwhere you never have to explain yourself” meaning, You can come to the studio in any state of mind, any level of ability, any body type, any type of person, and you will be universally accepted and never have to answer to anyone why you chose to lay down for half (or all!) of a class. (Answer: I’m tired and enjoy the heat and quiet...) Also, while many people do choose to socialize here, I can slip in and out with a simple hello to my instructor. When I am in meetings explaining things ALL DAY LONG and then answering my kids questions at home- it’s nice to avoid social interaction and not be seen as a jerk or have someone ask β€œare you sure you’re ok?” Love, Love, Love this place! Especially Emma, Cait, and Dave ;)

I love the variety of classes, teachers and sense of community at Modo. I visited Modo nearly 6 years as back problems were limited my life and after Dr. visits, physical therapy, chiropractors, etc., I decided to give yoga a try. Modo surpassed my expectations in so many ways as instead of just stretching my muscles it turned out to be an incredible whole body strengthening and stretching. As I continued to visit Modo I began to realize Modo was so much more than a workout as it provided an opportunity to reflect, step away from the rush of life and recenter myself. The staff and fellow yogis are friendly and concerned for everyone's well being and have created a very welcoming community. Yoga changed my life. Modo offers a wide variety of classes and each teacher brings a special perspective. With yoga and barre, my structural back issues rarely impact my life and I'm back to doing the sports I love after being limited for 15 years. Thanks Modo for giving me my life back!

Modo Yoga was so great! I was invited by a friend and was honestly weary about hot yoga since I haven't had good experiences in the past.I really enjoyed the radiating heat instead of having hot air blowing on me. My body felt open and it didn't feel overwhelmingly hot! Everyone was very inviting as soon as I walked in the door. The teacher was amazing, and I loved his playlist and sequence. The main sitting room, studio and locker rooms are styled beautifully, very clean and provide the perfect environment for Bikram yoga.

I will for sure be in attendance when I visit MPLS next for the holidays.

The teachers were nice and very informative. The main room is small, and in an almost full class it can get a bit crowded. The biggest deterrent for me was the lack of hospitality from the front desk workers that I encountered. I had a couple uncomfortable encounters with them that left me feeling unwelcome. I detailed them more below.

I received two promotional cards that would allow for a free week of classes to experience the studio. I just found out that during my first visit with this card, I should have been given a code or card that would allow me to register or check in for other classes that week. Neither of these things were offered or even mentioned to me.

During my second visit, I was waiting for my turn next in line to be helped by the front desk people when another man walked up behind me and joined the line. Both the front desk people saw me waiting, and when they had finished with the man in front of me, they looked past me and asked the man BEHIND me if he was next. He didn't say otherwise, so I spoke up and said that actually I had been waiting, and that I was next. This was met with an awkward half apology, and they proceeded to get me registered for the class that was to begin shortly. So I brushed this incident aside and gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I returned for another visit yesterday, and even brought a friend with me to try out the studio as well on the same type of promotional card I had received. These cards for a free week expire on December 15th, and according to my sales receipt from using my promotional card, my free week expires on 12/18/16. However, when I brought my friend in on (12/14/16) we were told that the free week has to be completed by the 15th. This encounter was after we arrived a few minutes before the yoga class and it was overemphasized that we JUST made it and that the doors get locked once the class starts. We had enough time to change and get settled before the class actually began. A couple people left and returned during the class so it doesn't appear that it was locked.

These passive aggressive incidents combined made it clear that my roommate and I were not welcome in this homogeneous community.

I was wrongfully marked as no-show when I was actually physically and mindfully present in the studio. I was fully aware of this policy, and I was afraid this would happen to me when I am a new person there and nobody knows me. Unfortunately, it did. The teacher, who marked me as no-show, was actually encouraging people to sign up classes online. I did, and she marked me as no-show. How ironic is this?! She said that she saw a lot of new faces and wanted them felt welcome. Well, I definitely didn't know feel welcome at all after this. I got an email notification about this no-show a day later. I emailed the studio and called them. No one answered. I am aware the studio has at least one regular front-desk person there. I don't know why they have failed to notify me earlier and ignored my email. After reading other google reviews, I think the studio may welcome the regular only, not the new ones.
With this kind of strict no-show policy, the teachers should have the ability to or should try to remember students name, especially the new ones. The email, which I got, seemed to be a template. It made me wondered if this type of mistakes happened a lot.
Besides, the studio is relatively small compared to its class size. I don't know if that's the cause or not, but the air circulation isn't good. Especially towards the end of the day, the smell becomes unpleasant. The floor is sticky and doesn't feel clean.

I've been attending modo yoga for only about two weeks and maaaannnn its wonderful. Every bit of it. I have been in such a need for something that will empower me to love myself where I'm at and in the midst of getting to where I want to be and I found it here. I've shed tears on my mat and its never felt more okay for me to do that than it has here. I feel empowered to love myself in a new, better way.

Modo is a way of life and takes you as you are, where you are. The instructors are....so bomb at what they do and just as people. The vibes are awesome. I can see this becoming my second home. Thank you guys.

By the way. I only took ONE other yoga class before I started here. So literally bring what you got to the hot room. Even if its just a small bit of will. Try it.

Good vibes, well trained teachers, spacious locker rooms, class size limits are better than the 3 other studios I have tried. Accessible workouts with inclusive feeling for all levels of yogi experience. Overall very nice studio.

Drove all the way to this place to get more information, maybe a tour, and just a feel of the place.. I was greeted by a "...yes?" and pushed out the door with a rude "everything's online". OK, I guess not then...

I first checked out Modo when I bought a Groupon deal for 2 unlimited months at $39 and I'm really happy I did. The staff of teachers really make yoga accessible to everyone who walks in the door, including all levels of students. If you are new, Modo offers a great workout and a friendly environment in clean studios are clean with huge locker-rooms.
If you are regular student - there are a wide variety of classes all with a variety of vinyasa flows. Classes occur all times during the day and they have a free app for your to sign up for classes in advance.
They also offer a barre class but it can be tough to get a spot in class since they only offer it about once a day and spaces are limited.
Parking can be a pain if you're headed there around 5 PM with the post work rush, so you'll need to allow extra time to make it to your class.
Highly recommend!

Instructors are all great in their own individual ways, whether it be in their level of difficulty/pace or their delivery in the class intention. I walked into this studio completely new/cold to yoga (normal or hot), and now I've been going on an almost daily basis because I'm excited about continuing to learn and progress. A+

Came to modo with zero yoga experience after a running injury, and felt so welcomed that I never left! The instructors help you navigate which poses are most accessible to you, and which poses might be the next step for those more advanced. Highly recommended to anyone new to or experienced with yoga.

Modo Yoga is the best yoga in the Twin Cities area. That's why I drive all the way from the East Side of St. Paul to go there. There is a level of both spiritual and physical rigor - and I come for them both. Too often yoga can be too fitness-y, and the teachers act like personal trainers, and on the other hand, some of the more spiritually heavy classes can be really sleepy. Not so at Modo - the yoga instructors help you with your alignment AND your spiritual condition. I wish I could be their best friends. Every class they come in with an intention and help you connect the dots between the mat and your life. I have only been coming here for 2 months and I can see the changes in by body, mind, and soul. I hope to come here for a long time to come.

Here are a few more things that make Modo cool: 1. It's HOT! 2. They are a family owned business 3. They give back to their community 4. There's an adorable brown lab that hangs out in the studio 5. They use earth friendly everything 6. They have a really convenient app to sign up for class

Now, if they'd only come to St. Paul...

You can either sign up online for a class ahead of time or you can arrive early and hope there is still space. It seems like the barre classes definitely fill ahead of time (like a day in advance, I noticed) but the yoga classes have not been selling out as much (though they were selling out in January from the resolution rush). Even when the class is sold out, you still have enough space to move. The mats aren't super crowded, which is nice so that you can maintain your space a little.

The descriptions of the classes are kind of confusing because they all sound the same. The hot hatha class is the easiest physically and is more restorative because you hold gentle postures for a long time. Then there is the moksha class, which is a series of postures that you do not flow between. This is good for building an understanding of the postures since the class is almost exactly the same each time. Next most difficult is moksha flow, which is like moksha except you flow between the postures. Then I think the hot flow is the most difficult of the four class types, though it varies from instructor to instructor because they all do their own thing. This is the best one for getting something new, probably.

The barre classes so far are great. Kitty is the best at explaining the different exercises and their exact positionings. She's fun and laidback.

All in all, great place. I'd still go there except it is far away from where I live and a bit expensive.

I truly enjoyed my experience at Moksha and loved the studio. It is big and open and I never once felt cramped even when the classes were full. The teachers are all very unique/different but the style is consistent. The teachers do not touch the students much here (which is something I've come to like) but they are great at talking you through the corrections you can make. I didn't always feel challenged but I did feel the repetition helped create a challenge for posture perfection. If I wasn't relocating to another state I would continue visiting this studio.
