I enjoy my weekly Monday Svaroopa class with Solveig. It's a judgement free space for all people. Svaroopa is a niche form of yoga that focuses on spine health by using blankets/bolsters to help your body fall into easeful positions of release. It's a mindful activity for me and not only helps relieve deep internal tension, it helps me learn about my body and practice a stress relieving breathing technique. It's a life practice, something you do long-term. You really don't need to know anything about yoga to practice - Solveig will guide and show you everything you need to know. Or if you are well practiced, this may be a refreshing way to experience yoga. I like all kinds of yoga; this one just so happens to be helpful in my current body/mind journey. I'm in my 30's, have scoliosis, have a dance background but now sit at a computer for work.

I've been going to the Svaroopa class at Nokomis Yoga for a year and a half since injuring my lower back. Now I have no back pain and I enjoy the combination of simple poses, deep relaxation, and spirituality offered in these classes. Highly recommended!

The owner, Solveig, is extremely knowledgeable about yoga and meditation, and she has a warm and supportive presence in class. Her classes are restorative and cultivate a greater self awareness. Have been going to Nokomis for over 10 years. The Restorative Yoga is one of a kind---my sister was visiting from Florida and I took her to Solveig's class. She's loved it and has never been able to find another restorative yoga class as good!

I've been taking Svaroopa yoga classes with Solveig at Nokomis Yoga for more than 12 years (and online for the past 3), and it's been both body and life changing. It's such an inclusive and supportive style of yoga that most anyone can do and benefit from, and Solveig is a wonderful teacher who takes the time and care to make sure everyone gets the most out of every class or therapy session she guides. I can't recommend this yoga style, this yoga studio or Solveig enough!

Solveig is fantastic - such a calm, relaxing class with gentle and encouraging guidance. Svaroopa yoga is especially great for my back and neck and also quiets my mind. I never liked other yoga classes and couldn't do a lot of the balancing they required, but this one is mostly on the ground and much better for me. Studio is cozy, sunny and casual.

2015 update: attended Myra's vinyasa class tonight and it was AMAZING! Great instructors and very personalized service. They are extremely helpful and available to help you adapt the poses to your body and level of flexibility/strength/injuries etc. Highly recommend this neighborhood studio, much nicer then the overcrowded gym classes I have taken before.
2016 update: I just took Sarah's baby bonding class and it was fantastic. Personalized attention for you and your baby. Lots of attention paid to baby but also to mom and focusing on our recovering bits! Baby loved looking around and it was fun to use baby as a counterweight in some poses. Highly recommend.

Starting your day with yoga brings presence to the rest of your day. If you are interested in starting a regular morning practice, I recommend going to Gentle Morning Stretch with Deb Hennen-Bergman. A very effective way to infuse your whole day with mindfulness.

I met Solveig at meetings of Friends of the Nokomis Community Library. Through the Friend's group I found out about her Nokomis Yoga Studio. I have been attending her Wednesday morning Restorative Yoga classes and have been greatly impressed with her individual attention to her students/clients during the small group classes. She incorporates adaptive props and methods to repair existing pain and damage and to prevent further injury. It is a calming and indeed restorative education in the practice of Yoga. I thoroughly enjoy my time spent there. I can feel the changes in my flexibility, my attention to my own body, and my thoughts.

I have only been to 2 of Solveig's classes but I enjoyed both of them very much. Solveig is a wonderful teacher and her studio is bright and cheerful. I have recommended Nokomis Yoga to several students in the neighborhood and will continue to do so.

I'm new to yoga despite my wife's many suggestions that I try it. I've been going Wednesday mornings to the restorative sessions and it has been wonderful.
My neck actually bends better, I can see over my shoulders. My back is more limber. I'm still a beginner, and as such I appreciate Solveig's attention and help in getting me situated properly in poses from time to time.
The personal touch adds a lot compared to the handful of times I used my wife's Yoga Videos.
Finally, I've got to say as the only male in the classes that I have been at, - it is a safe place for guys as well. :) And there really is something here that complements the other exercise I do. Nice setting, great instructor and beneficial practice that quickly added mobility for me.
