Personal training sessions with Vicki at the athlete lab was what I needed to take my goals to the next level. She consistently pushes me, keeps me engaged with varying work outs, and easily adapts to what I’ve already done through the week, or around new and old injuries. I leave every time feeling I’ve had a complete workout from a highly skilled trainer.

I love the Athlete Lab. I’ve been working out with my mom at Vicki’s gym for a year. Her TriFitness Coaching classes at the new Athlete Lab in Vadnais Heights are challenging but fun, and I have improved my balance and endurance. I love the infrared sauna, and the Spin classes are my favorite. I would recommend this studio anytime over a big gym.

Vicki has built an incredible community at The Athlete Lab, home to Trifitness Coaching and Rocket Racing. The coaching staff is exceptional, offering expert guidance and support for athletes of all levels. If you're looking for a fantastic workout, this is the place to be!
I always look forward to Vicki’s early morning RIP/Strength sessions and Jack’s Thursday coached swim workouts. The Athlete Lab provides comprehensive coaching for swim, bike, and run training, as well as personalized plans for triathlons, marathons, and cycling events. With a variety of fun and engaging workouts, there’s something to suit everyone’s goals.
The Athlete Lab is more than just a training facility—it’s a supportive, motivating community dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness objectives. Highly recommend checking it out!

Faster in 48 hours Swim class was such a good time!! The coaches were super informative and provided on the spot feedback to help with technique in the swim. Having a video analysis done as well as extra sets of eyes to helped me dial in on a few key changes to make to improve my efficiency. They made it so much fun!!

I have now been a member since July 2022, and The Athlete Lab has changed my life. I was in the worst shape of my life when I joined. I have happily attended classes 3 times/week for the past year and a half because of the fun, encouraging, kind, helpful, accepting environment. The coaches are all amazing, individualized, and supportive of each person. Even when I have had injuries I have still been able to enjoy class. I cannot recommend this gym enough. I had never done crossfit and would never have believed I could. But at the athlete lab I feel so capable and strong! And I have gain a ton of muscles and lost some fat! It's like an adult playground, and I am so grateful I found it!

I had not run a marathon in25 years. At age 50 I asked Vicki if she thought I could run a marathon again. If course, she said sure and set me on a path to success. With her training I recovered faster with less pain than when I was 25. So I ran another one the next year.I subsequently ran my 5th marathon at 55 and my 6th at 60! In between I askedVicki if she thought I could do a half iron and of course, she said sure. So at 58 I completed the half iron and recovered faster than the marathons. I ain’t asking her if I could do a full ironman but if I did I know she would get me thorough It. Vicki Ostendorf is the smartest, safest trainer to work with. I could go on...

Vicki at Trifitness is a consummate professional with significant experience in tri-sports. I've worked with her for the last 4 years, and she's shown me time and time again why she's the very best at what she does in the twin cities metro..She's flexible, kind, respectful, patient, but knows how to get the most out of her athletes.

I have been a member of four different boxes and The Athlete Lab is by far the pinnacle of quality. The coaching is superior, the facility immaculate and top of line, the culture unrivaled, and the members are an actual community. I miss this gym for all these reasons,(moved out of state) and I really appreciate the coaching I received while attending.

Crossfit in general has certainly been a major contributor to my physical and mental health. I was apprehensive about going back to a gym after COVID restrictions were lifted. The Athlete Lab is clean but most important for me are the great coaches who know I am working to get fit. The coaches always have a scaled movement for my abilities (if needed). I get a fantastic workout and can certainly feel the difference. My goal is to be able to fight the typical diseases that limit so many people my age (65+). Can't wait to continue this journey and have the energy and ability to continue to play with my active grandchildren for many years to come.

I started back in 2017 going on 60 years of age and worried that if I didn't start some training soon, I would really start to lose function (not disability but the kind where you want to keep active, be with grandchildren, travel). I started with personal training (10 sessions) and then started the daily classes. Went from two days a week to three, and then retired and went to five days a week adding 2 bike days in between my strength classes. It is now part of my daily routine and I love the other people that attend but mostly I love Vicki (and Jack)!! They are the best - I personally guarantee it!

Vicki and her her team were instrumental in helping me train for my first Ironman race and are helping me as I’m making plans to do it again. They are helpful and knowledgeable and aren’t “mega gym” type cookie cutter training. They listen and worked with me where I was at.

I just spent the weekend at a running course with a great crew of folks and am glad I made the trip. As a Physical therapist, it was great to have someone show me my deficits so I can improve my running game and show me where I’m missing the mark. Not only did they do that but also they ran me through a list of new exercises to help me improve my game. I made a new 2 mile PR while here and have a whole new program to add to my training program. Imagine how efficient I will be in another year! Can’t wait to show you as I make my gains! Thank you for the warm welcome, humorous moments and education!

Vicki goes far above and beyond in her role as a trainer, she’s definitely a coach to me. She has the experience, she’s out there doing all this herself. She also has the expertise to know what it takes to keep athletes reaching their personal best. Most of all, Vicki really cares that they reach them. She helping me figure out how to get past whatever obstacles I have in the way.
I can’t thank Vicki enough!!

I met with Vicki for a video analysis of my swim technique. She is a very good teacher! Her video demonstrated what was wrong with my swim stroke, and during the 30 minutes she gave me instruction and practice drills for correcting the stroke. I look forward to meeting with her again to prepare for open water!

Terrific gym. Vicki is one of the top triathlon coaches you will find anywhere in the country. She makes people of all abilities feel like real athletes. I appreciated her focus on injury prevention from the get-go. While I was challenged by her workouts, I did not experience any burnout and showed up to my races healthy and motivated. I'd recommend Tri Fitness whether you're hoping to do your first triathlon or have done multiple Ironman races.

As a beginner triathlete I was looking for some entry-level classes and coaching. Nick and the group at Tri Fitness have been super friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The “transitions” to becoming, or at least imitating, a triathlete has been made much easier with their help. They also offer more advanced classes and fitness training, so there’s something for all skill levels. I highly recommend this place.

I have nothing negative to say about the athlete lab! This gym is like no other, and I’ve been a member of most of the gym chains around the twin cities. What you can expect when you walk into the gym is a greeting with a smile! All the coaches are amazing and there to help you succeed in whatever your goal at the time is. The athlete lab is my second home, where everyone knows everyone by name 🤜🏼. While you’re there make sure to give someone a fist bump!

I've never been into the crossfit culture. Tried it years ago, and was really turned off by the lack of focus on technique for complex olympic-style lifts. But TAL coaches and staff helped erase that experience and stigma, providing extensive focus on technique and scaling options so that I could jump into the workouts when I felt I was ready. If you're not into crossfit, HIIT Fit is a great alternative that substitutes dumbells and kettlebells for barbells while maintaining the intensity of a crossfit workout.

There is something for everyone here, regardless of whether you have dreams of being a competitor, or like me, just got tired of getting weaker and suffering through chronic back pain. The staff and members are friendly and inviting, and joining has been one of the best investments I've made in quite some time.

Amazing coaches with a welcoming and supportive community. The Athlete Lab is a place to go to get in shape, not because you are already in great shape. Best of all, after you are fit it will continue challenging you every day. Clean, friendly, great equipment variety and class options. Would highly recommend!

I was at the Athlete Lab for a Crossfit competition, and I was very impressed with the facility and staff! This box has quite a few spaces, multiple rigs, and plenty of space for athletes to keep their belongings. The staff at the event was superb, friendly, and showed their knowledge of crossfit through great judging and equipment set-up. The event (The Blizzard Bowl) actually ran a bit AHEAD of schedule. If I'm ever in the area, I would happily drop in for a WOD here!

I'm visiting from away and didn't want to go a day without crossfit. I dropped them an email and they got right back to me with details on how to go about dropping in for a 6am session. Beth was a great coach, helped me work on a couple of maneuvers that were new and unfamiliar to me (I'm still a beginner to crossfit, though not fitness). The others there were kind and supportive. I would very much recommend this box and will likely visit again if I have the chance.

Only caveat is that they didn't ask about ability or training. Another box I contacted is having me show up early to demonstrate knowledge and proper form so they know I know I'm not going to hurt myself.
