Excellent Yoga Teacher Training program!
Jen Grey, Celia McCoy and all staff involved are dedicated to co-creating a program of depth based on the true foundations of yoga. I have found Jen to be flexible and creatively accommodating, supporting me and other students to engage meaningfully in our studies amidst work and personal challenges. Highly recommended if you are seeking a deep study of yoga both on and off the mat for your personal and professional development. Lovely diverse community of students, too. Thank you, Jen!

The Yoga Center Retreat restored my spirits as I weathered last week's rainfall getting lost along sections of Midtown Greenway and Cedar Lake Trail closed for repairs and detoured. Jennifer (Golden) graciously welcomed me in to dry off and get my bearings to enjoy Eloise Butler's last weekday of the season meeting beautiful migrating birds, and the following day my yoga buddy and I returned for a beautiful gentle flow with Stephanie to unwind cycling muscles and ground into a good week of exploring the Twin Cities by bike. Thank you, looking forward to a return in future.

I’ve completed both my 200- and 300-hour teacher trainings at YCR, and I’m so glad I found this place! I don’t know of another studio in Minnesota that offers the same depth and variety of yoga styles—both for practicing as a student and for studying as a teacher in training. It’s true, YCR isn’t the cheapest game in town, but the growth in my personal practice, the connections I’ve made, the things I’ve learned, and the doors that opened as a result have all been more than worth the investment.

I do not recommend signing up for this teacher training program. It is expensive, the refund policy is unclear, and if you have to stop the program after 6 weeks (like I did for health reasons), they will not refund a fair amount. They kept $850 out of $3200 I paid for my enrollment after I participated in 6 core sessions out of 38, 1 tech session out of the required 25, and did not attend the mandatory weekend intensive. I expected they might keep a couple-few hundred, but $850. That's insane!

Exceptional program. I am taking the 230 hour teacher training, after having completed another 300 hour elsewhere. Wow, what a difference! I am so impressed with how broad and deep the curriculum is. Great teachers, great community.

I recently completed my 230-hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Center Retreat. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking to deepen their practice and knowledge of yoga, and/or anyone considering doing a yoga teacher training. The staff is wonderful and there is a depth to the training and classes that is unlike anywhere else in town. I met the most amazing cohort of people during my training too & we are bonded for life! All of the studios are beautiful and spacious & owners Jen Grey and Jen Golden have poured their hearts into making it such a special place for many years! Incredible class variety too, and such a warm, welcoming community. Oh, and they have the best shop too with precious stones & gems and all sorts of gifts & goodies. Big fan!

I was fortunate enough to recently take an Avita class taught by Mark Wheat at the Yoga Center Retreat. Previously I had not heard about this discipline. If you are looking to start or re-ngage in your practice - this is highly recommended.

After this 75 minute class - I felt revitalized. The positions coupled with Mark's grounding voice left me inspired. My intention is to add this to my practice to improve my flexibility and balance.

UPDATE 4/15/24
My son and I have been semi regular attendees of the Avita class. My son has a myriad of physical challenges that make yoga difficult. this class is perfect for him. It is incredibly accessible. Mark the instructor encourages him and everyone in the class to ensure they feel comfortable and supported. Everytime we take the class I leave with my heart so full and my body revitalized .

230hr Yoga Teacher Training:
I’m writing this testimonial the night of my graduation. I don’t know where to begin. This experience is the most impressive, astounding, unifying, and moving thing I have ever experienced. The 230 hour yoga training at TYCR is life changing. I not only gained confidence in my ability to lead asana and teach yoga to classes, but I was able to uncover the roots of yoga and cultivate a personal connection with them. My practice has grown so much. I pushed my limits and delved into my studies in ways I didn’t know I could. The way I see yoga has shifted.

Jen Grey is an amazing teacher. She teaches from her heart. Jen never fails to make everyone in the room feel like family. She is honest, compassionate, conscientious, and respectful. She led our group through the program in an organized and thoughtful way so we would leave prepared to enter the yoga teacher world with confidence. She will always be a lifelong mentor of mine. I will never forget the wisdom she shared with us.

I made so many wonderful connections with my classmates and the teachers at TYCR. Our class is planning on continuing to meet after and keep studying yoga! The teachers at TYCR are a diverse group of free-spirited teachers and we learned so many important things from each one of them.

If you’re looking for a yoga training to deepen your practice, learn to teach to a diverse population, study the origins of yoga, and so much more… stop looking because you’ve found it. I can’t imagine a better program. I am so happy to graduate and move forward with my practice; I’m super excited to start teaching!!

This is my favorite yoga studio in the Twin Cities. The instructors are always fantastic. I have found they really take the time to connect with students in a way that I have not experienced at other studios. The variety of courses offered is fantastic and provides students an opportunity to try just about any style of yoga or meditation. Every class I have taken accounts for the variety of student skill, experience level, and comfort. This allows for safe, fun, and effective classes.

This is a terrific yoga community. The Center offers a variety of yoga options for all skill levels, taught by encouraging, skilled instructors. Friday night classes provide a wonderful transition to the weekend; Sunday gentle yoga or Avita prepare me for the week ahead. I appreciate having options of in-person and online for my favorite classes.

An exceptional yoga studio with its top-notch staff, wholesome community environment, and unique offerings such as monthly kitty and puppy yoga. Prices are very reasonable. I’ve left feeling rejuvenated, reconnected, and restored walking out the door several times now and don’t expect to stop anytime soon. Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you haven’t already!

I'm currently getting my 230 hour yoga certification here. I love it. The training is conducted by extremely seasoned yogis - It's common that my instructor has 20 years of experience. The flexibility of this program is key for me since I have young kids and an active family. I can plug into make-up classes as I need to. I often make up ahead of time when I know I will miss my scheduled class. I love the variety of the instructor's backgrounds and specialties. It's a welcoming and loving environment. Thanks Jen Gray!

Yoga Center and Retreat is not just a place to take a Yoga Class or Training Program to deepen your own practice. It’s a place where you will find strong community, personal growth and even transformation. The environment there is astoundingly supportive no matter where you may be in life. Every single instructor, and staff member has unsurpassed knowledge, expertise, and compassion to share, without judgment or opinion. They “meet you where you are”, encouraging you to do what feels best for YOU. And that sense of comfort can be found throughout the whole spectrum of students. Being there feels like a wonderfully loving “family”. I’m so grateful to have experienced this rare learning platform; so appreciative to be part of this warm, welcoming Yoga “tribe”. I highly recommend Yoga Center and Retreat.
