Took 6-7 emails to get them to finally reveal their pricing. They repeatedly quoted me $167 and pushed me to click on the link and pay for the trial. After I became very direct, they revealed that the pricing is $219 per month. This review is not about the pricing. It is about the fact that you are claiming to teach other people ethics and discipline but will not price transparently and had to be asked a direct question multiple times before answering.

Honestly, we were really excited about this place. I paid $29 for an introductory session which included the uniform, a 30-minute private lesson and two weeks of unlimited sessions. The information they provide says you have 12 months to use the introductory package. We attended the private session (30 minutes with Lydia) in January 2023 but could not do the two weeks right away because of our schedule but that she would do the two weeks at some point. I communicated that to her. Our schedules cleared up last week and I contacted them to start our two weeks. We went in yesterday for the first session but had to meet with Lydia first. I let her know right away that we also were ready to commit. She went over the pricing package and offered us the discounted rate and we accepted. We signed the paperwork, paid the $167 and she said my child could start right away. Ten minutes had already passed in the class and so my child did the remaining 20 minutes. No problem because she was excited to get started. When I reviewed the contract again and I asked about the two weeks that I already paid for (not two free weeks), she stated that it went void because I signed a contract. It is not written anywhere that if you sign up for the program before the two week trial period that they no longer honor your purchase of the two weeks of unlimited classes. She also did not mention that to me as we spoke. After questioning how something I paid for went void by me signing the 7-month commitment and without it being communicated to me, she asked, "Well how about I refund your $167 and you start your trial?" In other words, I'm going to make you pay full price at the end of your trial period. I told her it wasn't about how much, it was about the principle in them honoring what I paid for. She then stated that she didn't think that we were a good fit for their organization (as if my child had anything to do with the situation) and she would refund all my money paid. I never asked her to do that but I have to say that I agreed with her based on the way she handled the situation, which was an easy fix. Honor what I paid for.

I will first start off too say they’re very nice and polite, they greeted us upon arrival and their facility was clean and neat.
We thought we were coming to our first class of our two week trial for 32$ With a uniform. My child is undiagnosed with any learning disabilities, though he has a tough time paying attention, following directions, making eye contact. I was trying to see if this is something that really made his heart light up and was he in his element… etc.
DO NOT expect to get that on the first day, a nice lady went through 4 motions with him over the course of 10 minutes in the hour I was there. The rest of the time she was trying to sell me the membership asking him to be patient and sit down. Ill tell you if I DID decide to enroll him after the “first day” (I didn’t feel like he even got a first day he went through the motions with her over 10 minutes maybe) then it would be 169$ And 169$ monthly. But if I chose to “ride out” our trial, our enrollment would be 313$ over all and our monthly bill would go up to 212$ a month… I felt very mislead. And in No shape or form did I have intentions on using there trial and not returning but more so that if my child was not feeling in his place I’d know off the bat without having had made a commitment. But trying to put myself in there shoes maybe that’s the reason for their tactic….

Before hosting public competitions, you really should say "everyone welcome, our judges are crooked, only our students win doesnt matter how good anyone else is." Drive 4 hours away from home and pay all fees to enter only to have my niece and nephew be told they werent good enough for a first place when they were better than most out there. They take this very seriously and we had to let them know that there are just people in this world that your never good enough for. Its a shame as a childrens competition that a judge will tell and 8 year old little girl shes not good enough. If I could give 0 stars i would.

As a place for Martial Arts is really ok, but if for whatever reason you can not attend anymore they will do their hardest to make it impossible for you to cancel.

So if you dont plan to spend your entire life attending i would think twice. They kept charging us for months after we stopped, and made it super hard to cancel - they give you an ''email'' to send cancelation to that no one looks or answers to , and they keep charing you .. then you have to drive there to complain and they say they cant do it as you need to do it over email so it keep going in circler ..

Ended up filing claim with bank, so have to deal with that hassle now and who knows maybe that is now my monthly routine as i they still keep charing ..

I visited this martial arts center with the hopes of enrolling my sons. At the very first visit, everyone was so welcoming. I scheduled a time for my sons to have a one on one meeting with the instructor. Everything was going so well until I had questions regarding this facility. Now keep in mind, I had already done my research before I came. I wanted to know what all I was getting into before committing to a membership. One of the first things that I found in my research was that I needed to make sure that the Taekwondo facility had insurance. Any great Taekwondo or Karate facility should carry General Liability insurance that also includes Professional liability coverage to protect their clients. Premises liability coverage covers simple slip and fall injuries to minor or more severe injuries. When I asked the young lady if they offered any time of insurance, she wasn’t sure. They trained her well on all topics except this one. When I asked her to ask her supervisor, she came back to say that “NO” they do not have any type of insurance. Can you believe this? This type of high risk environment has no insurance. After this, the young lady became so rude towards me and my son. Afterwards I called a friend that also owns a similar business in Memphis to make sure I wasn’t thinking the worse. He too was shocked to know that they had “NO INSURANCE “. Anyhow, please know that your kids and you are at your own risk when visiting this faculty.

Mr Bowers at Intensity Martial Arts- Southaven location is AWESOME! He truly cares about his students. They aren’t a number or a dollar sign. They are his kids. He works hard to train them to be Champions, and will accept nothing less from them. He pushes them to be their very best, but at the same time, he is able to read the student and know, just when to lay up, as to not push them away. He promotes self worth and confidence, always praising them for the job they do. He knows when to be serious and when to just laugh with them, as to make class an enjoyable experience for them.
