About the Club

Discover the wet and wonderful world of swimming in Mississippi's most unique, year round aquatic facility.

Maley Swim School, Inc. believes strongly in teaching children to swim in a positively reinforced, nurturing environment through creative play. Children learn more in happy relaxed lessons where they are encouraged, rather than forced to swim. Each child is taught on an individual basis according to his own emotional and developmental abilities. Maley Swim School, Inc. strives to develop in each child a healthy respect and love for the water. Being a happy swimmer is a life-long gift. We want swim lessons to be one of their fondest childhood memories.

Maley Swim School... i am going to try and be as fair and unbiased as i possibly can in this review but i think the future consumers should know what to expect when they choose to do business here.

Please read to the end...

I want to start off by acknowledging MSS has some wonderful people that work there. Absolutely zero complaints about the staff here. Our main issue with MSS is how the conduct their business.

Their model is as follows. Keep your kid coming here as long as they possibly can to generate as much revenue per kid as they possibly can.. This is 100% their main focus. I think identifying their main business goal will help you understand your future experience here. They value revenue first and your kid learning to swim 2nd. I do believe the business owners of this establishment want your child to learn to swim by the time they are done here but thats the magic word... TIME. The subscription based payments etc are fine but its all geared to generate as much revenue per child over TIME. MSS does not prioritize progressing your child through the classes to learn how to swim. They prioritize their schedule and keeping classes full so they can keep the money machine turning. What does this mean...? it means your child may be ready for the next level for weeks or months (that you are certainly paying for ha ha ha) but they want their schedule as full as it can possibly be so they can achieve MSS goal #1 .. Generate as much $ as they possibly can. I think their ideal student probably comes here for 1 year + at 115 a month plus membership etc. That is their goal teach your kid to swim eventually in as long of an amount of time as possible.

TLDR: MSS values your money 1st and your child swimming 2nd. Their instructors are great and their facility is great. Their business model is just distasteful to me and anything to do with your money here is all levered in their favor PERIOD. You are going to have 4 figures in your child learning to swim after its all said and done here. Do yourself a favor and find an instructor that teaches private lessons on the side and they will have your kid swimming in 2 weeks. MSS will have your child swimming in 2 years and charge your credit card every month along the way and also charge you an annual membership fee as well. I gave them two stars because of their business practices. If i could rate their staff i would give the staff 5/5!

To MSS: If you valued teaching your clients children to swim over all other things. The business would never stop flowing and you would never have to worry about getting a bad review. I think you have a great facility with wonderful people that work there. Unfortunately i think you value revenue above all things and its a shame!

I’ve never been here but my husband won’t stop singing the songs from your commercial. 1/5 stars for my sanity, 5/5 for advertising

We absolutely love Maley swim school. Our daughter Evie started swim lessons last summer, and we continued with the weekly sessions after that. She was terrified of water and now she swims well. She's currently in advanced swim classes. The instructors are very patient and kind. I love it when they show Evie how to swim with her arms and legs. They have also done very well in showing our daughter various ways to swim. Our daughter has come a long way in one year. I would highly recommend this swim school.

I love this swim school. My daughter looks forward to her lessons every week. We have only been enrolled for a year and I saw so much progress in 6 months. She is an older child but I also had a toddler enrolled. She is no longer enrolled but I will take her back once she becomes more interested.

My toddlers have been enrolled in swim lessons since July 2022, I was charged for the first weekend we enrolled although I asked for our start date to be August 6th due to our family vacation, I was told no. I paid for lessons that were not provided. I received a voicemail stating their class had been cancelled due to staffing shortages, however, I later found out the class was not cancelled, I was still charged their tuition. I called the office multiple times with no answer, I finally emailed to find out that I would be provided with a makeup token instead of refunded the tuition. We attended 8 lessons with Maley's and my children have not learned any skills, as Maley's does NOT hire trained swimming advisors, the minimum age to provide swim lessons to students at Maley's is 15. My toddlers are 2 and 3, I was told by the young swim instructor that they struggle to listen and pay attention to which I reminded her they are 2 and 3 years old. This past weekend both of my children tested positive for the Flu and Strep Throat, I asked to make up the class but was denied stating swim lessons is no different than cheer and soccer practice, however, there is a difference, I am paying Maley's for a service, therefore, an excused absence should be allowed to be made up, especially when children are sick. I offered to provide a doctors note but was denied. I tried calling the office multiple times again to be told their answering service was down so they did not know I was calling. I was finally able to connect with someone via email, but I have no idea who I was communicating with. We have spent hundreds of dollars with Maley's Swim School with no results. I am extremely disappointed in their lack of ability to provide decent service to our community.

They were patient enough with our kid, he's still learning english, we really enjoyed the classes... we took the 2 week classes and must say that 9 of them were really enjoyable, just the last session lasted like just 15 min... probably that wasn't the best way to end the program... but, in general the staff is great, the place is clean and you really feel comfortable being there

I loved my sons experience here over the summer! But it does take away from the warm experience noticing that the business didn’t even acknowledge the parent who had concerns for the lack of accommodations or training for children who may or may not learn differently than others.

I registered my son for group swim classes 2 months before the swim lessons were to begin. He has Autism but is high functioning. I waited on communication to see what would be the accommodations for him but never heard anything. The first day of class , he was excited about the pool and needed someone to sit with him doing the class because in a 30 min class the students have to take turns in the water. My son cried a little because he wanted stay in the water most of time, but no melt downs or extreme behaviors. After the class I was confronted by the director Linda. Who informed me this was not going to work. He could switch to private lessons that are in the middle of the day between 1 and 3. When asked would it be a set time, she said it's no set time I just make the schedule , it's like a puzzle. I explained my husband and I work full time, she was offered to credit our account until we could find someone to bring him to private lessons. Then she said" maybe I should find someone with a pool outside to teach him." So at this point she basically didn't want him there. When asked why I wasn't notified before the first day of class , she states they get too many applications to look at them. So basically if you have the money you can take the class , until you need some type of accommodations. Linda did let me know they were not trianed to work with disabilities but they have students with disabilities but they take private lessons. How would I know that, it was never communicated. I felt as a business this was a example of poor communication and poor representation. Miley Swim school may be excellent in many areas but providing accommodations or support for students with disabilities they FAIL. The Director has a lack of awareness and compassion for students that have disabilities. I was able to get my son swim lessons some where else that is trained to work with everyone. Just to warn anyone if your child need extra support or accommodations this may not be the place for you.

Great staff and a great learning environment. The curriculum they use for lessons is top notch. The focus is on learning how to breath (or rather to blow bubbles) and learning how to perform strokes properly so that bad habits don't set in. Definitely a good place to have your child learn to swim and I think they do swim parties on the weekends too.
