I stopped my membership with another gym because it no longer takes insurance. I then enrolled with Planet Fitness since it takes my insurance. I am amazed at how well it is managed. Everything is clean, the equipment is top notch and the music is not too loud.

I went as a guest to this gym with my father in law who is an elderly man. He left before me and shortly after the assistant manager, Karen Jackson, asked me to leave before I was finished with my workout. It is worth noting that there was barely anyone at the gym and there is nowhere in the guest guidelines that states a guest is only welcome while accompanied by the membership holder. I was also only there about 20 minutes, I was really disappointed with this treatment given I was already signed in and halfway through my workout. I will never consider a membership with this gym due to the unpleasant treatment and service I received.

I love how clean this gym is. It is very well kept and maintained. When you’re a germaphobe like I am, it can be difficult to feel comfortable in a public gym. I visited several before walking in Planet Fitness and deciding this is where I want to go based simply on how it didn’t smell or look dingy. The employees pay attention to detail and it shows. They are also very friendly and always have smiles on their faces!

Planet Fitness doesn't have free barbells and racks, just 3 Smith machines but that has long been a standard thing for them. Plenty of Dumbells and reasonable machines.

Over all it is a good gym, very clean, very friendly atmosphere. The staff actually takes the time and remembers faces and names of regulars. It to me makes the experience a great one.. the only thing in my opinion that i would change, would be less cardio equipment or more lifting equipment.. i come during busy times and the lifting equipment gets crowded pretty quick. Now with that being said, i would still highly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. Just wish there was a little but more room with more lifting equipment, example being, smith machines and towers. Which is the only reason the rating is not a 10

Excellent location! The front desk staff were very attentive, excellent listeners, and very helpful. It's laid out very well for such a small space, too!

However, as I have been in Planet fitnesses across the country, I'd like to make a few suggestions:

1. we need at least a couple of the giant rubber balls

2. we need the 9"x36" foam roller for stretching and working out Kinks and knots

3. tanning bed number one has more than nine bulbs out and you cannot adjust the face --which is too strong.

4. please leave the bosu ball out so we can use it

Here goes. On Sunday, Nov. 12, I entered the gym to find no one at the counter to check me in. There were no self-scans, but there were signs on the counter with a phone number to contact staff. I waited for a bit, but did not call the number, as it was the first time no one had been at the counter with no way to check in since I joined in late 2019/early 2020. I also didn't call because, no matter staffing shortages, which is understandable, I don't see a reason why the front desk was unmanned with no self-scan available. I left the store and submitted a low store review.

It's now Tuesday, Nov. 14. When I checked myself in this evening, an employee that I take to be the manager said he wanted to speak with me outside the store. I also counted 5 employees total around the front desk, so the staffing shortage must only be applicable to Sundays. After meeting outside the front doors with the employee, he confronted me about my review, explaining he reviewed video footage and accused me of being "untruthful" in my review regarding the events on Sunday. I explained I didn't feel it was my job to force others to do theirs, such as manning the front desk. I'm unsure what he wanted to resolve with the conversation, nor did he make the point, but I decided to cease my membership on the spot. After going back inside and cancelling my membership, he shook my hand after saying we were done and glad we could get to "the truth."

In my years since joining that branch of PF, I have only ever made one other negative review, and that was in regard to another member's conduct toward me. I never received an update on that review, despite it being an arguably more important issue.

I have more than a few issues with PF at this point, specifically the events of tonight. If the employee wants me to be "truthful" about my review, here it is: It is not my place to adequately staff a gym or force other people to do their jobs, even if the staff is short. My husband and I don't pay PF $600 a year to not be able to use their services. Even if a staff member appeared 15 seconds or 15 minutes after I left the store to check me in, the employee was not there when I was, and after a few years of never having had the inability to be signed in or sign myself in, I was not inclined to call the number on the desk.

Before I get to the issue which helped me decide to end my membership, here are more "truths" to get out of the way: We pay $600 a year for gym access. We pay $600 a year for a leaking roof over the gym. We pay $600 a year to have understocked paper towel dispensers. We pay $600 a year for PF to remove its rewards program. We pay $600 a year for a men's locker room with black tarp hanging from the ceiling for over a year. In my years at this PF, I have not issued one complaint over any of these issues. They were irrelevant.

I ended my membership because I cannot do business with someone who accuses me of dishonesty rather than helping solve an understandable issue. I was spoken to not inside at the desk with other gym members, but confronted outside the front doors. I was not offered an alternative. I also note, although I do not know for certain, that I was confronted away from gym cameras or other witnesses that might corroborate either side of the story. If my one of two negative reviews I have ever made is met with accusations of dishonesty, then my business with them cannot continue.

As the manager, Vanessa has gone out of her way to make us feel like family. Each time we visit the gym we are greeted and always are told if we need anything just let them know. Vanessa and Scott have worked with her staff because each of them will offer the same service to the customer. I’ve been a member of the Picayune Planet Fitness Club for over 2 years. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I participate daily in workout classes and trainer Maurice is amazing. He takes the time to teach proper form, technique, and explains which muscles are being worked by each exercise. Maurice uses a variety of workout routines for each muscle group to keep things fresh and has kept me motivated to workout daily for almost 3 months.
