I've been going to Bird Strength Training for about six months, and it truly feels like a second home. The trainers and other clients are wonderful—it's a supportive little community.
​The small group environment provides truly focused attention, which is a huge benefit. I recently had an experience where I had to get dressed up, and I was absolutely stunned by the progress I've made. Seeing myself in this new light after so long—the stronger, more confident version of myself—felt like meeting myself for the first time.
​If you're looking for a gym home, I can't recommend Jenny at Bird Strength highly enough!

Jenny coached me through 6-weeks of personal accountability. Normally a very active person, I'd put on weight and a negative attitude very quickly after having some work done on my knees. Jenny is awesome! So encouraging, never judgemental, super insightful, and always so positive! I joined Bird Fitness about a month ago. I’ve tried a few gyms in Columbia and never felt comfortable. I’ve never worked out before and it seemed they all had a one size fits all program. I’m also 65 and just never felt comfortable at the others. I couldn’t do what they were doing and there were no options given to me. I felt comfortable from day 1 at Bird Fitness. I go 3 days a week and I’m already seeing results. The trainer, Maddie, is just amazing. She gives me options for many things I have difficulty with. I usually don’t even have to ask, she will see me and just come over and help!! I’ve never felt embarrassed because I still struggle and fumble around. Everyone is so encouraging and I just love it. If you’re looking for a gym I highly recommend Bird Fitness.

Bird Strength & Fitness owner Jenny is a phenomenal coach & trainer. She takes the time & effort to know each member personally, makes sure your technique is correct to avoid injuries & encourages everyone to reach his/her fitness goals! When I ask for a modification--which happens frequently--she doesn't make me feel like I'm on the “struggle bus“ but gives me an alternate move while also motivating the entire class. If you want a challenging workout in an environment of acceptance & affirmation, join Bird!

I highly recommend Bird Strength to anyone wanting to try CrossFit! The gym is large and open with new equipment. The coaches and gym members are very inclusive, always willing to help teach a move or to cheer you on. The owner, Jenny, also does a fantastic job with communication and helps you achieve your fitness goals!

I've been working out at Bird for just over a month and have loved each and every workout. As someone new to the CrossFit world, I was curious what it was like to join a gym with people who knew what they were doing. What I found was a group of coaches and athletes that value each other as much as they value results. I felt comfortable asking questions about lifts, scaling, and the purpose behind the workouts. The genuine nature of the people at BIRD will make you quickly feel party of the family. If you're looking for a place to push yourself in a space where zero judgment is felt, BIRD might be the perfect spot for you.

Best money I ever spent! My quality of life has improved and I am more like I was before my RA. Jenny took time to work with my RA, adjusting my workout to what I could do. She pushed me to increase my workout and if was too much for my fingers or wrist, changed the workout so I could do without pain. I don’t get out of breath walking now and have even started walking up stairs. I thank Jenny so much for making my daughter and me healthier!

I have known Jen for several years, but not in the gym. Several people recommended I try Jen, when I started telling other about having new debilitating back pain this year, that I could not get under control even with a chiropractor, massage therapist, magnesium supplements, and regular physical exercise classes. Iwas skeptical at first that Jen had the ability to help more then i had already tried, but, i was desperate and willing to try anything.
Jen does exercises I have never seen or heard about. But the science that she knows about the body, combined with her years of experience, did exactly what she said it would. I noticed the pain starting to shift from the middle of my back, to a new location, but much less severe and then over time gone from that location as well. Over 3 months. Time I would say that my back pain is 80% different. And changing still. My posture is different, other people have commented on it, and I've noticed changes in my physical shape as well. But I would have paid anyone. Anything to help me with this back pain, and she delivered. If you're having pain issues and want to get back to living life, she can definitely help you. Even though it was so hard for me to get up in the morning, Jen made it easy with her app so I could easily sign up for classes even last minute. Semi-personal private classes were amazing because you got the one-on-one you needed but other people were getting that as well so it didn't feel so intimidating to me. Again, the science and explanation that she gives are clear and helpful.
I cannot thank her enough for changing my fitness journey forever in such a great way.

Since I started training with BIRD Strength & Fitness 7 months ago, I've lost over 40 pounds. I feel better and more confident and I'm no longer afraid to take my shirt off at the beach.

Before starting at BIRD I tried different things like running consistently in my 40's and still only lost 15 pounds. I was constantly going to the chiropractor and my right side (even though I'm right-handed) was weaker than my left. Every time I worked out before I always ended up hurt or injured... 3 times I got stress fractures in my foot.

I have now trained at BIRD longer than I had stuck with anything previously and I've not only had no injuries, my right side has caught up with my left, I no longer have all the aches and pains I had for years before... and my results are way better than any I previously achieved on my own!

The support I have received at BIRD has been awesome. They've help me create a routine that works with my crazy work travel schedule and helped me find ways to stay on track when my gout has flared up. Having a trainer who cares enough to ask me how my body is feeling each session and making the necessary adjustments has been a game changer. No matter what, I always leave a session feeling better than when I came in.

Now I'm in my 50s, feeling like a new man (my boss didn't even recognize me recently!) and on track to be down to a weight I haven't seen since my early 30s.

I'm going into my 4th week of Crossfit, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm a 47 year old runner and decided to join Bird Crossfit after talking with Jenny. I was just a little hesitant, but her attention to form and technique won me over. Coaches Joe and Rachel have continued to help with my technique. Whether it's kettlebell swings, presses, snatches, wall walks, or anything else, the attention to technique has been worth every penny.

Just a little update... I ran Mollys Miles 5k this weekend and set a PR of 22:48 which betmat last years time by nearly 3 minutes. I attribute my improvement to more consistent running AND the base of strength and fitness that I've been gaining at BIRD. I fully expect to run a sub 22 min 5k by this fall.

Jenny Bird is the first trainer who introduced me to CrossFit and brought a new perspective to me when it comes to “getting in shape.” She has guided me through injuries, through losing weight and also has just been an inspiration to me!! Jenny Miller the head coach and owner and the rest of her coaches are amazing, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about your fitness and nutrition goals. There’s nothing to be intimidated about the classes are filled with people of all shapes and sizes from beginning levels to pro levels, and you modify to your personal levels. I have been going to B.I.R.D since they opened. The coaches and owner are great. If you’re looking for a local gym where you can connect with others, have fun and get a great workout in, this is the place! They offer foundation classes before you do a class so it’s not as intimidating.
