I’ve been going to BOF for around 3 months now and I can’t say enough about this place! I love the trainers the ease of not having to think of what exercise to do it’s all planned out for me when I get there! I have noticed great improvements in my overall strength and endurance. They tackle the entire body each workout. There is absolutely no fear of not being good enough at this gym! I get personalized text messages encouraging me and helping me feel good about myself. This gym is a gym like no other. My favorite thing about going to Blue Ocean is that you never feel like you are going to the gym. I never have to drag myself to this gym like I have when I belonged to other gyms. I not only look forward to the workouts, which challenge me every time, but I also look forward to seeing incredible trainers and people that consistently work out there. The trainers provide new workouts that challenge me to do things I've never done in the past, and exercises I certainly wouldn't do on my own. Hands down: best gym to workout at!

Their semi-private coaching approach feels like it hits the right mix of coaching attention, accountability, motivation, and variety in a clean, upbeat environment. Typically, the semi-private coaching sessions have 6 people or less in a group. The friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive trainers take each person through their routine making it feel closer to a private coaching session than semi-private. The workouts are varied each session and tailored to your ability. The coaches are happy to answer questions, give feedback or switch out an exercise if needed. Appointments are easy to schedule or reschedule with their online system. All fitness levels welcome!

I have been going to Blue Ocean Fitness for almost two years now and really enjoy the workouts and staff! Do not be intimidated to start. Every workout is different than the previous visit and the trainers really listen and work with you on different moves if you have something bothering you physically. They stay up-to-date on industry standards and attend trainings regularly to polish up their skills. I've been with Blue Ocean for only 3 months and love it! Unlike the big box gym trainers who seem to think you can do more than you're capable, the B.O. staff works with and encourages you through your workout. If an exercise is causing pain, they adjust it. They are all like family. They will text you to see how you're doing, if you have questions or more help with your goals. The emails are also very helpful and encouraging.
Since I joined, my energy level has increased, and I have a drive to work out more often. I am seeing results and look forward to reaching my goal! 😀.
It's been 3 months since my last post, and I still love Blue Ocean Fitness! I have lost 16 lbs and 2 dress sizes down! I go 6 days a week and kick myself when I miss a day. The staff really keeps me motivated, and they really care about their clients.

Wow!! How time Flys! I am still with Blue Ocean Fitness. It'll be 8 years since I've joined. The team is great! They will ask how you're feeling and any physical issues that you are having prior to your workout. They will make any adjustments necessary for you to have a good workout.
They just started another challenge to get in shape for the summer. This challenge will help me with the goals of getting back on track where I fell off.

This is a place where you work out with trainers who know who you are and actually listen to you. They teach you how to do each exercise and answer questions thoroughly.
I've been working out at BOF for 12 years and have gone through a few tough times. If you've had an injury or surgery, they will teach you to slowly strengthen other areas through the healing process.
And I didn't mention the other people I work out with! They are awesome! Everyone seems to like each other. It's so nice and refreshing.

I wanted to get back into the swing of things fitness wise, but had no desire to go to a big gym name (Planet, Gold's, etc.). I didn't want the intimidation factor, the hassle of creating or finding my own workouts, or much less dealing with 200+ other people all the time.
So I found Blue Ocean. Semi-private workouts catered towards what I wanted to focus on on my body, in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Nobody is yelling at you, or anyone else for that matter. Nobody is trying to get Instagram famous. It is a gym for like-minded individuals that want to get a solid exercise session in. There really isn't much more to it. I started here in April after my friend suggested for me to try it out . I was in a car accident 3 years ago and have been going to therapy for my leg ever since my accident . I kind of lost hope of my leg getting back to normal until I started to train at Blue Ocean Fitness . This gym is the best set up Ive encountered yet for people who dont like gyms, are middle aged, and are not particularly fit. I have a couple of health issues, and the personal trainers adapt my workouts to me specifically. The workouts are about 45 mins to an hour, and not overwhelming. I have been with Blue Ocean at least 7 to 8 years. I have had back issues for over 40 years since my surgery. BOF has helped me with specific exercises to target my core which helped immensely.
More recently I developed IT Band issues from my hips to my knees. The trainers gave me band exercises to target certain areas. My physical therapist wondered why I needed her because of the expertise from the trainers at Blue Ocean.

I have been going to Blue Ocean Fitness since if first opened at the original Long Road location but several of us have followed John Farkas and his training since his days at LifeTime Fitness. This is a true testimony to his strength as a Trainer and his philosophy and style of training. Since Blue Ocean Fitness has become a part of my regular weekly routine (4x/week) I have truly discovered the beauty of "functional fitness." Not only has my dr noticed how much healthier I've become- but my energy level has remained consistently up. One year ago tomorrow, I walked into BOF - overweight, terribly out-of-shape, and fed up with myself and my lack of effort. I had been scuba diving (my passion) in the Philippines and couldn't keep up with the current. Had a couple of real scares of being swept out to sea, away from my buddy and my group. The trainers are relentlessly positive and create individual programs based on their client's current condition and goals. There is no body shaming at Blue Ocean: they cultivate an attitude that everyone is there to improve their fitness and that's more important than how anyone looks now. They include a broad range of exercise activities to strengthen one's entire body and improve balance and agility, all while maintaining an aerobic heart rate. The variety also helps avoid monotony.
Although they offer one on one training, the standard method is semi-private, in which a trainer rotates among clients, demonstrating an exercise, verifying a client's technique and tracking resistance, repetitions or time. I've been introduced to heavy ropes, TRX straps, kettle bells and medicine balls to go along with the more traditional dumbbells, rowing and skiing machines, and bikes. Each season begins and ends with stretching. There are regularly scheduled group sessions for aerobic exercise, strength and stretching.
I'm entering my third month of training and I couldn't be happier. The trainers have worked with me to recover my strength after rotator cuff surgery and two years of working, and not working out. Their approach strengthens my shoulder without endangering the repair and minimizes the discomfort from my arthritic knee. The folks at Blue Ocean are getting me ready to return to downhill skiing and ice hockey, and I can feel the results.

After driving by every day after work, I just stopped by to check this place out. I had been strength training in my home gym but missing the accountability of a coach. LITERALLY the best gym I've ever been to. The semi-private training is key to keeping me on track, showing up, and mixing up my workouts. I have to thank Blue Ocean Fitness for a second chance to an active life. I came to BOF following a recommendation from my chiro, after almost a full year of recurring back problems, mainly pain. The culprit? No (as in non existent) core strength due to a sedentary life. John and his team helped me go from on and off unable to stand, sit or lay down without pain to being active and wondering around on a bicycle. There are no words to describe how thankful I am to them. I still remember the uncoordinated blob I was on that first session. Today I have even raced on my bike.
This awesome team not only tailors your exercise to your current fitness level, they care about you, they push you to keep going forward.
One of the things I welcome the most is their daily messages. They are inspiring and help me keep an eye on my fitness goals.
John (the owner of this awesome gym) invests in the development of his team. This tells me that for him, this is way more than a business. He is a great leader who puts both team and clients first.
