Great workers and amazing place to climb! Got started climbing for the first time ever here and it didn’t take long to meet people in the community. Genuinely recommend!

Great spot, super nice staff, awesome and large amount of climbs in a decent spread of grades, and a super nice staff. 10/10-all around a great climbing gym. Visited while on a weekend trip and can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town.

Honestly I'm terrified of heights and I fell from said heights multiple times, but it actually wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Fellow climbers recognized that this was new for me and gave encouragement and tips.

Although not my go to physical activity, I enjoyed myself and the environment of support that was provided by the staff and guests.

Great welcoming and initial tour. They have to check you off for top rope and lead belay, as all gyms do for new visitors. Very easy going relaxed while being safe and observant and ready to back up safety if needed. Professional in sharing one observation to improve upon remembering. Old habit with my brake hand, though what I was doing was still safe and always ready to lock if needed, theres always a couple steps more that can make it safer. So appreciate the observation and reminder to work on a little better habit, having worked at a gym years ago, I especially appreciate the thorough instruction and safety protocols, and to work with and communicate with a good serious but fun vibe is always good to ease any anxiety, whether it's just from being watched, or you are new to it all and are just learning this inherently dangerous sport. We take the necessary safety precautions with our risk assessment. We can always improve in some way.
Thank you for the check off and good vibes and communication with concerns and reminder and instruction.

My nephew went to this place for a birthday party, and it was a fun experience overall. However, there were no staff around our area, so when two of the auto-belay systems (the things that buckle you to the wall) went up, we couldn’t use those climbing walls. That was a bit disappointing since it limited what we could do. Other than that, it was a good time!

Staff is super friendly, and everyone at the gym seems respectful of all other climbers and seems to observe common courtesy.
With a membership, not only do you get access to the bouldering wall and main climbing walls, but you get access to their workout area with ample pull-up bar esque play-space, and free fitness classes as well as yoga classes!

If you want to experience the front area geared mostly towards kids (called the gravity lab i think), you either need to come on a Tuesday(I believe it is open to members then) or pay extra I believe. If you want to use this area, I believe you must make a reservation, or else IF THEY ARE AT CAPACITY, YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY(the gravity lab specifically)!!!
You do have to pay for the classes that teach you how to climb, but you get a discount on it! I believe you can take the tests for certification without the course, but I am not sure since I came in as a rookie and definitely need the classes.
Your first month you get free rental gear, and if you finish your little passport booklet in the first 90 days you get 40% off one item, which is a big difference on a pair of climbing shoes!
There are a good mix of different routes available for each climbing type, and they have tags to put on your harness if you are looking for a buddy to belay you, but honestly if you just ask someone odds are they will say yes. Amazing community, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

It was our first time visiting today. We only did the auto belay section. My six year old daughter loved it. She's been climbing before but only once so she was super nervous at first and refused to do anything the first hour we were there. Luckily she snapped out of it and Alex was so good with her and patient. She wanted him to show her how to do things and get started.

I am removing my past review and adjusting. Long story short, I am a (now former) member and I got upset over a misunderstanding regarding a birthday party for my son and being charged extra for non-participants. While I believe my frustration with that policy is valid, I also realized that I did not pay enough attention ahead of time to understand the policy or process. I could have made things easier on myself and in turn, on the staff at the gym. I feel that keeping my negative review up would be unfair, and one rough outing (especially caused by me) should not negate all the positive experiences that I have had as a member of the gym.

Actually it's called climb so ill cuz short climbers with no testosterone are too ill to climb their walls, but who am I here to say anything about their divine route setting?

(Guess how short I am and whether I was assigned male at birth)

Edit: since their team replied to my message, I just wanna drop by here and say one more thing: I have spoken to Chris personally about his route settings many times and did actually, raised the issue of accessibility. However nothing has really changed, which led to my disappointment and therefore cancelling my membership. If you guys wanna actually make a change, just make the change!!! Actions speak louder than words.

We attended a party here and my tween had a ton of fun in the climbing area. Procedures were explained well by staff and the girls were allowed to climb as much as they could/wanted. Some of the walls are more challenging than others so it was a good mix for skill levels.

Perfect activity for my 12 and 9 year old kids! My 12 year old is fearless and climbs everything, she had no problem getting to the top. My 9 year old is a bit more cautious but he was able to climb to the top of everything as well. I was considered the active chaperone which I was nervous about because I’m 38 weeks pregnant but I was able to help my kids clip in/out when they needed it as well as rest when I needed it. The workers were very friendly and helpful with the harnesses and teaching the kids how to use the equipment appropriately.

Currently go to school here and have been rock climbing all my life. Impossible to cancel your member ship here. $75 a month is extremely pricey for the basic things provided at this very mediocre rock climbing spot. Workout equipment is old and very worn out. This place is extremely dirty with dead bugs everywhere....... Place also reeks of Body odor or stinky feet or both. Better to find somewhere else to climb. Than to come waste your money here!!! One of the trainers also is very sexual. I'm not sure what his problem is but the short Asian is a weirdo as well. Tell him to stop flirting with people with there as well.

My 10 year old goes here. 2 days a week for 1.5 hours each day. He loves it. It's the first physical activity that I've found for him that he enjoys. Works his hands/grip strength as well as legs very well with an amazing community to boot. Those longer climbing sessions give me a chance to go for longer walks. Although sometimes we stop by one of the amazing ice cream shops or restaurants when he's done climbing ... So it's nothing but positive reasons in my factual opinion ;)

This review is for the Yoga Studio, which is located upstairs. I took a class with Elissa T. last Sunday at 10:15. a.m.

The room was cozy, with lamps, cubbies for gear to store, and to borrow, with low-light lamps in the corners. There are windows facing out to the rock climbing walls, and even higher up, to natural light, which is really nice.

Elissa led a vinyasa style class, with a fun flow. Excellent instruction and a very comfortable vibe.

Only negative to the experience is hearing the rock-climbing gym music, loud dropping of weights, and other related noises from below.

And it would be great to have an early-morning class option on the weekends!

After 14yrs of climbing, I have switched sides. My former place taught me and raised me, but I feel that this place will elevate me. I should have switched 3yrs ago when it opened. I'm stoked that I can get a climb sesh and a solid workout in one place.

Everything you need for a great climbing specific workout and everything you need for general fitness. My only wish, I wish there were an occasional harder route under the auto belays. But they've got a large boulder section and even more lead and top rope options. So far, the boulder routes have been fantastic in their setting.

I will miss topping out but I think the large Rouge multi use rack, barbells, rubber covered plates, massive rack of dumbbells and kettlebells outweigh that. Also a great campus board from beginner to expert widths. I can actually work on muscle ups here!

Really loved this gym. A great variety of routes with creativity and complexity. Most of the routes didn’t feel sandbagged. On a good day I’m a 5.12- climber and most of the routes were at or below my red point. The variety of routes felt attainable but still challenging. The boulder problems felt really diverse and that was nice since I’m in my 40’s and when i boulder I don’t want to max out after 2-3 sequences. Can’t say enough good things about these guys. Hopefully some day I can get back to try the Power plant.

Total random side note but I overheard the owner asking the front desk attendant if he could help her in anyway. She said no but he said hey I’m grabbing a coffee can I pick you one up. Pretty cool. As a small business owner myself I really appreciated that level of investment and compassion to the personnel from the top down. That kind of behavior is what I believe leads to a culture and community that is vibrant and authentic at its core.

I want to preface this review by saying, the climbing here is great, starting with phenomenal routesetting. There were problems with very complex beta. There were about 7 or 8 that looked like fun multi-session projects. I sadly can't do that since I'm traveling. But it would be very fun to climb here on a regular basis to get to know the style of these routesetters. They have obvious strength in slopers, core tention, campusing, and heel hooking. There is a variety of textures on the holds. So iLL holds are featured, but they have many brands represented on the wall.

Got a day pass for $20. Great bouldering wall. They have slab, a 45Β° and everything in between. The walls are very textured. They have a lot of volumes. The holds are very grippy, I used up almost all my skin in my 2 hour session. The grading is consistent and accurate. I was able to flash most of the problems below my grade level, and got a few at my level. The harder problems such as the V8+ black tags were indeed difficult, but I was still able to do one or two moves on them. So there certainly was an endurance aspect to some of the harder climbs. They used many good sets of holds on the easier problems which is rare to see, but cool for the newer climbers to experience these modern holds. Overall the setting is very good. They could certainly put up more problems, especially on the slab. On one slab wall there were only 2 boulder problems. The majority of the boulders were very low percentage, there weren't many small crimps.

Staff was friendly, good shop with many shoe and gear purchase selections. The bathrooms were very clean. The building is an old converted powerplant, and they left most of the historic architecture, which is very cool.

I'm excited to check out the other So iLL locations in St. Louis, and look forward to visiting this location again soon!

The ability to climb to her comfort level and come down with no pressure was a great experience. Of note the β€œkids” room was reserved when we first got there so we didn’t use it till the end. I'm bummed to have to cancel my membership, but I ultimately did not feel valued as a member. With recent competitions at this location, I received one email notification about gym closures (which upon reading in full was geared towards enticing people to sign up, not making us aware of the closure). I did miss the email in my inbox, but I still think clearer communication would be useful as I was one of five people who pulled up on a Friday morning ready to climb. There was also nothing immediately posted on the website to make aware of this closure.

On a recent visit with a guest who had to pay for gear, the front desk staff didn't think to mention that more than half the boulder wall would be closed shortly after we arrived. It seems the only way to know about gym closures/events is to climb there every day of the week or be close buddies with the staff. It would be nice to see more open communication at the front desk/online about upcoming events/closures instead of having to dig for this information after the fact. It's not possible for some members to be there every day of the week. Building a community should be about including all levels of climbers.

TLDR: the gym's cool, but too expensive. Staff could be more communicative and welcoming (though there are some who do a good job).

It was a chilly Tuesday afternoon when I came in with my sisters after looking for something to do indoors. It was our first time ever rock climbing. Chris helped us and was great! Explained everything to us, demonstrated how to use the equipment and overall was very helpful. Because it was our first time & half the gym was closed due to preparation of a tournament, he let us check out both areas. This was very helpful to us, it allowed us to get comfortable with the β€œeasier climbing” and then once we got comfortable we went in the the bigger area and tackled that. Our first experience was great and we will definitely be back! The customer service was 100%!

Our group of HS seniors had a great time! Orientation was safe, but quick, so they could get right to climbing. We used the Gravity Lab & party room, which was so convenient for food & keeping our belongings, but the kids were also able to go and use the larger gym areas.
It was fun, they were completely worn out. It was awesome to see those who were "afraid of heights" tackle the challenge, in addition to the already-adventurous trying new things. Highly recommend for groups.

I was on a mission for some new shoes; my third pair. I wanted them to be perfect. My first pair was too loose, my second too tight. Third time is the charm. Long story short, the mission was accomplished! The young lady who helped me find the perfect pair was very knowledgeable about the shoes and what I was climbing for. I had no time to see the actual gym, but I plan on coming back for some climbing later on. The staff is what made the experience great!

Their gravity lab is a great place to take kids from age ~4 or 5 to upper teens, especially on Mondays (half off). We had a blast as a family, and it was great exercise for everyone!

This is hands down, the best climbing gym in the St. Louis area. The building has a great open feel to it, and as you walk in you are surrounded by routes. The bouldering wall is updated constantly and displays various grades for all types of climbers. To get the most out of the top routes, you will want to be top rope certified and/or lead certified. There are usually 6 auto-belays so this does limit what you can climb if you are alone or cannot belay. Lastly, the staff is very friendly and they do a great job of keeping the place in top shape. I highly recommend checking Climb So iLL out, either by means of a day pass or a membership.

Amazing place to start climbing. The staff is super friendly and will gladly show you how to use the beginners equipment and get you started. Would definitely recommend for an active date or for an outing with a bunch of friends.

Note that for bouldering you must download the KAYA app to see the exact difficulty level for routes. Climbing routes are listed.

Only tried out the Gravity Lab portion with some of my younger cousins, but even as an experienced climber, that section was a blast. A quick walkthrough of the rest of the gym has me wanting to come back to get some actual climbing in!

In town for a visit and absolutely loved Climb So iLL!! Plenty of routes for all levels in bouldering and climbing. There are 6 auto-belays, 40+ climbing routes, and entire section separate for kids. The gym in the back has just about everything you need - Rogue (free weights, benches, treadmill, assault bike, med ball). All of the gym equipment and rental equipment (shoes, harness, chalk) were quality and in good condition. The staff was super friendly and the building was very cool. I would love and be a member of a gym like this in my hometown if we had one.

I am new to climbing, so I can't comment on how an experienced climber might regard this gym, but for me it is great. Being 50 years old and nearly 300 pounds, you might think there wouldn't be much for me to do here, but there are plenty of options.

There are 6 (?) auto belays that allow me to climb by myself. Some have multiple routes. I can do 2 routes for sure and 2 more I could do if I wasn't scared. There looks to be a nice progression up to the hard climbs, so I will never be without a challenge.

The bouldering wall changes regularly. The people who put the routes up must really know what they are doing because every time there are 3 or 4 problems I can do right away, 3 or 4 more I can work may way up on successive visits with practice, and a handful more that I can make a couple moves on.

The staff here are great. I get the impression that they are all people who really love climbing, and that makes a huge difference. They seem happy to introduce new people to the sport. Everything was explained to me clearly on the first visit and, as someone who looks like they have no business climbing, they pointed me in the right direction to get started.

I have gone back 6 times now. I am having a lot of fun, getting in shape, and (maybe just a little) starting to conquer my fear of heights. Thank you to all the staff and owners of this facility.

Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!

Also, best place to climb!

I’ve come here several times and each time it’s great. They change the bouldering routes every month or so to keep it fun. The routes are challenging but very rewarding once completed. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The place is kept clean and it’s clear the staff are doing their best to keep folks safe from COVID. Shoe rent is like $5 and day passes are only $20 (if I remember correctly). They also have a great auto belay system for those who like to climb alone (like myself). Each time I visit there are people of all ages here which is a great thing to see in a local business. Can’t wait to come back!

I'm really disappointed in Climb So Ill. Being a climber is being a part of a community. We are always more than willing to help one another out.

During the height of COVID Climb So Ill posted on Facebook asking for help. Either to buy a shirt, a visit pass, or some other product. So being a good person I bought a 10 vist pass even though I had no intention climbing during the height of the pandemic. The owner even walked outside to thank me. I met the owner serveral times during the Reel Rock showing and during the tour of the gym before they opened. He always seemed to be kind and genuine.

I went to the gym today to finally use my 10 visit pass. After a broken ankle and other life events I felt ready to get back in the gym. I was surprised when the lady behind the desk said that I was out of visits. I never used one. Then she explained that they have all expired. Although I under the "fine print" I was disappointed but not mad yet. I asked what she could do for me. I was hoping to maybe get to use at least half of my visits. Nope, she said it was policy and the best she could do is to offer me to buy another 5 visit pass and she would give me 10. What a slap in the face that was. I bought a 10 visit pass to help the company out during a hard time and the best they could do is to get me to spend more money so I can use visits that I already bought. What a shame. Of course I said no because, who would!? I'm extremely disappointed in you guys and I guarantee you the Upper Limits would of never treated me that way. Needless to say you lost my respect, my recommendation to others, and my business.

Nice rock climbing facility in the heart of downtown St. Charles. They have a decent bouldering area (climbing without the harness) as well as belaying (climbing tandem with a partner pulley) and lead climbing. It cost $30/person with equipment included, though our first trip they gave us a coupon for half off our next trip. They also have memberships available which can help bring down the cost if you go often. This would be worth it if you use their gym equipment, which they have some treadmills, elliptical, and free weights in the back corner of the place.

This place is so neat! My boss booked a team building day here for us and it was a blast! Your skill level does not matter, instructions are clear and it’s easy to become acquainted with the function of the equipment. The experience definitely pushed me past my comfort zone! Once I got comfortable with how everything worked I was set. We stayed for hours. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
