I enjoyed going to this gym. I signed up specifically for the women’s gym and immediately felt comfortable and why I paid the higher membership monthly so I could use it. Now with the new build and text coming out, since I am only in β€œplatinum membership” because they created a higher one while closed and without any warning (elite), now makes me ineligible for the women’s workout room unless I wanna pay 65 a month now per the website. I find that incredibly disrespectful to people who signed contracts well before this tornado hit and even paid a premium to get extra benefits, all to be taken away because a tornado hit. I sympathize with that as all of us in Arnold had someone or even personally dealt with it. But now I feel like I’m paying for β€œnew improvements” and now have to pay extra for stuff I already had access too? Cancelled my autorenew and will be finding a different gym.

Watching that Dude "trainer" with new members really irritates me. He doesn't correct thier form, he doesn't give pointers, no actual work out information. He literally stares at other people and doesn't watch the people he's training. You guys would sell more training sessions if he actually made any effort to teaching these people to get in shape. At least the female trainers watch thier trainees.

Great gym. Big. Plenty of room to spread out. Havent been during their peak hours in a while. Now that it expanded it should be okay. Showers need some maintenance. Need a premium membership to use the message chairs. Equipment is in good shape and anything broken gets promptly fixed.

Took my girlfriend here to get a workout in so she could test it out before buying a membership. Filled out a free day pass online, but when we got there the kid at the front desk said this location doesn't take the free day passes. What's crazy is I was JUST in there two days before with a free day pass and I was able to workout. Showed it to the person at the front desk and they said I was good to go. What's even more crazy is there are people that wrote 5 star reviews talking up the free day pass. If it doesn't work at the location, why are you able to get a free day pass for the Arnold location on the website??? We both drove 30 minutes up there to get a workout in and told she couldn't come in. Now losing out on $33 a month from her because you didn't want to honor your website. Great service!

Staff is friendly. The gym and bathrooms are always clean. If a piece of equipment breaks they get it fixed quickly as possible. I can't wait to see the new expansion of the gym that is in progress when it's finished.

Disclaimer - I tried to reach out to customer service support on August 19th and never heard anything back.

I visited the Arnold location last week in the hopes of finding a gym close to my office. I frequent the Edge in St. Charles and have a personal trainer.
I was welcomed by a gentleman who came across quite condescending. I understand he had to go through the whole spiel of the gym, the benefits, etc. BUT, I don't understand how you could make someone feel so awful with both the tone, and choice of words.

As we made it to the turf area, he said, "Oh, I see your little yoga mat. You can use it on the turf."

Little. Yoga. Mat.

Anything twisted with "little" before it sends the wrong message - a condescending one at that. As someone who works out daily using her little yoga mat, someone who works with a personal trainer (and a little yoga mat), as someone who has lost over 80lbs (using a little yoga mat) I don't appreciate the tone, words used, or feel very welcomed at Club Fitness.

I hope my feedback and candor resonates with someone and there's some sort of attention brought to (potentially) new members.

The new redesign ruined this gym for me. All the new equipment feels way too assisted and it no longer carries the same raw feel that the original equipment did. The machines all have unnatural range of motion and movement and the bench presses all have safety bars set way too high that disable you from touching your chest with the bar. Before the redesign this was an absolute amazing gym and I’ve been coming to this location since the week it opened.

So aggravated.went there little after 9:15. Doors were locked so I couldn't get in. I was a new member so had to wait to someone let me in. Went to counter and waited and waited till someone could wait on me so I could do something. NOTHING. So left with nothing accomplished. What a way to end the day after paying for a membership and not being able to use it. I joined there because the other place I was going to they were very unfriendly. I thought this place was open 24 /7?????

The manger at the club fitness in Arnold is harassing me and and my cousins every time we go in he says there is a problem but there never is. He kicks us out but the other employees never stop us because there’s nothing wrong!! He always finds some excuse to kick us out. We are Foreigners and alway get harassed. A white guy in front of me doesn’t scan and walks right in without being stoped and he doesn’t say a word, I scan my pass and he stops me for no reason I have all of my information there correctly (even my picture) he is very rude and needs to be fired asap!!!

My only knock is that the Sauna should be mopped more frequently. Other than that, the gym is always clean. Staff is friendly and willing to address any concerns. The personal trainers are outgoing and knowledgeable. They are working on an expansion as of this post, so it will be even bigger in the near future.

So. Last Thursday on the 8th my sister and I went in ( she was going to sign up to become a member) so we were standing there for about 20 minutes no one acknowledged us. So said go ahead and do your red light therapy and I'll meet up with you.. so i go to the other side of the counter and say excuse me... He come over and I said I want to do red light therapy. He said ok max time? I said yes. Go to bed 6. So I go in and do my session , I even told my sister wow they have different kids of red light therapy NOPE. !!( later that night I'm completely fried ( I was put in a tanning bed ( confirmed later by the manager). I was so burned I couldn't wear clothes or take a shower... So I couldn't get ahold of anyone about the issue for 4 days.. then Patrick the manager contacted me finally. Thelling me that it happens. (Often) IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN!! . I had no skin protection or eye protection! He said we don't like to use the word burned . We use over exposure! What? NO I was burned... He said we also don't like to use the C word... With that said . I didn't even think about that now I am...
I have been a member of club fitness for 8 years never once have I used the tanning beds and never had a desire to..
To just be shrugged off is really crazy to me... All I can say is make sure you know your doing red light therapy or tanning ((( red light therapy is a stand up booth )))))
I'm beyond aggravated and this should have never happened
Also no one ever showed us how either beds work!!!

I am giving 1 star because I want everyone to know that this company charged me $158 to cancel my contract. I disputed it, they said I needed a doctors note saying why I can’t go to the gym. So, I did, had to snail mail it according to them, mailed it and I still got charged.

Biggest rip off and HORRIBLE policy.

Moral of the story: READ THE FINE PRINT before signing a gym membership.

I have ALOT of choice words for this company, but I’ll save face and leave it at this for now.

Absolutely terrible. They trick you into signing up. I cancelled my account 2 months ago in November and I usually got charged $35/mo and now in December, after I canceled, I got charged $105. People work out to reduce stress. The music is loud, cutting in and out making working out stressful. I googled how to turn it off and reddit says people would rather have silence or ear phones. One guy claimed he needs to hear his breathing but can't. Background music or no music may be a better idea. Everything else is good it's clean and has a friendly staff. I absolutely hate this place. A bunch of kids with absolutely no gym etiquette. I don’t know who these parents are or who taught these kids gym etiquette but none of them have it. They’ll come and take weights right off of the machine you’re working on without even asking you if you need them or not. They don’t re-rack the weights. They don’t wipe the machines down. They grunt and yell and drop the weights.. An absolutely horrible environment for someone that seriously lifting. The only reason I came here from the competition is because the competition only had smith machines and no regular bench presses or squat racks. Other than that, I loved the judgment free zone. I went to the other place for two years and never saw anything like what I see here. Parents and coaches, please please please teach your kids some freaking gym etiquette!

Bathrooms disgusting, men's bathroom had no toilet paper, which means no one actually has been in there for quite awhile for both stalls to be empty, the massage chairs are all broken, all 4 of them. Currently sitting in one as we speak. The staff is barely friendly when you walk in there.
For one for the more expensive gyms, this is kinda pathetic.

Today Friday 11/10 6 pm, no one is working here, there is a major spill in the walk way, there's no one here to clean it up.

I have been a member for quite sometime and normally I have a pleasant experience. Tonight was RIDICULOUS!!!! Went in to tan and right away I could tell Tyler was not happy to be there just by his attitude. I asked if Level 5 bed had all bulbs working and he thought I said room 5 and started arguing with me!!!!! Then after that ordeal, he was going to put me in a DIRTY bed.... thank goodness for the new girl who took the time to clean it. Since she cleaned it I asked Tyler politely to restart the timer and he again argued with me saying it didn't start. This is not my first time tanning here, his attitude and lack of customer attentiveness shows!!!!!! He is a MAJOR disgrace to Club Fitness. He is just there to collect a paycheck. I really hope something gets done about this bc his ATTITUDE with me was UNCALLED for!!!!!

I'm giving 3 stars, only because I've been a member for 6 years and they raised their prices without letting customers know.
I'm highly upset. I love all the equipment there and everything else, as that's what I mainly go there for is to workout.
However, the tanning is sub-par. I used to pay 32$ a month and got level 3 tanning at no cost. Then, one day I went to the gym and wanted to tan after my workout, only to find out that now I have to pay an extra 15$ a month for it! Not to mention, there is an upcharge if you want to use the level 4s and 5s. Like okay.... and also, I went tanning today in a level 3 in room 6. There were like 8 bulbs OUT! AND THE TANNING BED HARDLY CLOSES!!!That is completely unacceptable for the amount of the monthly bill we pay. I will change my review once you guy's get new level 3 beds or fix them.

My daughter canceled her membership and paid the cancelation fees at the club to terminate contract. They had continued to steal money from her account monthly which we were able to stop them from doing. They are still calling and emailing almost daily saying she owes money and it still shows cancel pending in her membership account site... We went up to club in Arnold which we were promised the gm would take care of this issue and he would call her back that same day. Its been weeks with no phone call letting us know its been taken care of.Β  We tried to contact customer care which no one answers the phone or responds to emails!!
I looked at reviews on google for club site and reviews on the better buisness bureau. This has happened to numerous people for some time now. And honestly I believe a class action lawsuit needs to happen for the shady buisness practices of this company and them stealing peoples hard earned money. They need to be held accountable for their actions!!
**And I better not get a response your sorry for the inconvenience..because your not sorry! And don't tell me contact customer care because you know factually that there is no customer service that exists for this company to take care of your customers needs..its a scam, and your stealing from peoples bank accounts plain and simple!

It’s a big gym with plenty of amenities, but the atmosphere is one of the worst I’ve experienced. For such a large gym, they lack enough equipment. Over half of the equipment here is cardio for some reason. The rest of the equipment is plagued by egotistical teens who crowd around in groups of 4-5 on one machine just talking and messing around (or filming themselves). Headphones are a must as the music they play over the speakers is terrible as well. Keep valuables out of sight and your car locked as thefts are common in the parking lot. The gym refuses to provide cameras for security.

The new management is honestly such a joke, it's ridiculous. His name ,Thomas, I believe represent Club Fitness at this location and he does not make it look good. He is so aggressive, foul, and I'm honestly scared he might snap at any moment when he doesn't get his anger issues under control, which seems to be all the time. Just today, I heard him cuss at a customer, which no matter what the problem is he as management should know how to treat a member. I minding my own business at the front desk, waiting on someone and he came over and radiated his anger with a member towards me. I had nothing to do with the conflict at hand, yet I still managed to get a piece of his rage. This experience has made not want to be apart of the Club Fitness community. I'm surprised that such a big company as Club Fitness, would overlook the person who is in charge of a Club.

I joined CF because they opened a location close to my home. I joined at the Platinum level bc it gave me access to the ENTIRE facility with no restrictions. Due to pregnancy, I have not been in the gym for a while. I went in yesterday to find out I can only tan in certain beds and I will have to PAY EXTRA to use the other beds. I asked to switch to a lower membership level and she said I would not be able to tan at all and I would not have access to the gyms childcare anymore. (I didn't ask what else I was losing with their changes) I asked to cancel my membership and that was not an option bc I am under contact. I attempted to call CF and of course you cannot call and speak to anyone. I emailed them asking why they are holding me to a contract when the contract I signed gave me full access and they have altered this contract WITHOUT even giving notification. They emailed me back and cancelled my membership.

They made zero effort to make things work, they were just happy to term the contract and say goodbye. So people who have been members of this gym for many years, just lost childcare and other benefits bc this gym is more concerned with making an extra dollar than anybody's health and fitness. Someone who has been dedicated for many years and paid this gym for so long, can no longer utilize childcare unless they upgrade their membership to Platinum and pay over $40 a month.

STL is saturated with fitness centers. Many of which care about their clients and want to see them succeed in their health and fitness goals, not just make a dollar. There is nothing that stands out about this gym.

**Edit to add: Today, the new GM did call me to make things right. He offered to keep my membership at the same level and price and grandfather all tanning and childcare in. He was very kind and I appreciated his efforts.

Went inside in august to cancel my membership and I’m still getting charged in January. Can’t call the club directly, cannot get in touch with anyone online. Call center for billing is in India, they just tell you to go to the club. This is going to end up being a class action lawsuit for billing services being too hard to cancel

Joined to have access to their child care while being able to workout and then they raise the price and change their structure so I have to pay even more money for child care. Why sign a contract if it means nothing. I should be able to get out of my contract without being charged if you are going to raise your prices and change the structure of what I have access too.

Great gym, but the stupid radio is broken. I don’t know who manages this location, but they really need to shut down the radio. The radio is playing in arrhythmic, the sound is breaking up, and this has been the case for months now. I’m literally writing the review from the gym right now, and you might wonder why.

Being the newest location, there's a reason I enjoy coming here. The layout is nice and it's a wide open floor. The stretching room is real nice. I do appreciate that a few of the stair steppers are GymKit equipped. Plenty of benches to choose from as well.

Great, Beautiful new location with plenty of workout space and great new equipment with a big variety of new weight machines/plate loaded machines. Smoothie bar is great, fast and very good. Gabe helped me out and made an amazing PB Cup smoothie and was very friendly. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Gym was also very clean all around. Will definitely be signing up here once I move.

I had a great experience with a personal trainer until she quit in February. I asked to stop my sessions but they continued taking money out of my account. They were not friendly about it and gave all kinds of excuses of why I didn’t deserve a refund even though I didn’t receive services in March. I had to dispute the charge through my bank to stop it. Now, suddenly, 4.5 months later they decided to take $260 out of my account and no one can tell me why. I have not had any training sessions since February but they took money out of my account on August 1st?!! I emailed and got no response. I went in and no one could give me any answers or even seem concerned this happened. I am so frustrated that I cancelled my entire membership today.

Update: I did finally talk to the right people and got a refund for the amount taken out of my account. So, I changed my rating from a 1-star to a 3-star. However, I decided not to rejoin Club Fitness because of some the rude staff I encountered during this process. I found a happy place down the road at Plant Fitness.

I'm a novice in the gym world but Club Fitness suits my needs with plenty of cardio and other machines. I love the cardio theater but the offerings are somewhat limited. My only frustration is that there is no consistency to the channels offered on the treadmills and NO ESPN!!!!
