I always love dropping in to gyms and seeing new programming and meeting different coaches. Matt was amazing at working with everyone no matter what scale or whatever level they were at. I’ve been doing CrossFit for about a year now. I was on a trip and decided to look for a CrossFit gym to do a drop in class. I’m glad I came across CF Fringe because my experience was great! I signed up for a drop in class online and downloaded the app prior to dropping in. It took max 5 minutes and was painless. When I showed up to class the coach (Sam) introduced herself right away and was very kind. They made me feel right at home. It was nice that they were so welcoming even though they knew I was just a drop in from another state. The vibe from everyone was great, the inside/set up was amazing, and the coach definitely knew her stuff! I would highly recommend this gym to anyone!

Sam did a fabulous job. She demonstrated any newer skills and talked about modifications. She checked in on everyone often. Sam made critics easy to understand and fix, while celebrating everyone’s hard work and success. I usually train with coach Isaac and Ian but also have great experiences with Nate, Matt, Eric, and Erica. Actually, as I type this out I realize all the couches are 🔥. You can't really go wrong with any of the classes. Everyone is always friendly and push me enough to be challenging. It's been nearly 5 years at Fringe and I plan on staying a long time more. I really like how we can have fun conversations while also working hard.

This box exceeded my expectations. Sam was a great coach, communicated effectively, provided excellent progressions/ scaling options, and brought a very positive, fun energy to class.

I was a person who thought I can't do CrossFit I'm not in shape, I can't do all these crazy moves or know half of the CrossFit lingo. Even with all my doubts I went for it anyways and I am so happy I found Fringe. All the coaches are amazing and there to help you every step of the way. Not only are the coaches great but so are the members of Fringe. When I started everyone made me feel welcomed and a part of the team. I just recently started a nutrition plan with Coach Nate and he is helping me navigate my way to a healthier me. If you are looking for a community of amazing people this is the place to go. I have joined CrossFit Fringe for over a month now. I really enjoyed the time I spent there! Before joining CrossFit Fringe, I didn’t have much weight training experience and had always been hesitating to go to the gym. I always wanted to start regular exercise with good guidance. I felt very welcome after talking to Nate about my concerns and goals during the free intro. I started with four very helpful personal training sessions with Sam. Before attending regular classes. I was worried that I was not able to catch up with other members in the class or finish the listed work out on time. However, Sam and Nate have always been very helpful through the classes. They made sure I got things done correctly and helped me adjust the movements/goals to meet my own limit. The other members of the class were also very friendly and helpful. I am so glad I made the decision to join them!

I’ve been a member at CrossFit Fringe for just over a year now. It’s a well organized facility with excellent staff and an amazing community.
My initial orientation and training sessions were a great introduction to the coaches and the movements. The programming is fun and challenging. For someone who is not in peak athletic condition having the opportunity to scale and modify to be able to complete the workouts is awesome and encouraged.
I have never felt unwelcomed or judged while at Fringe. The community is supportive and it starts with the example set by the coaches. Support ranges from high fives and positive comments to cheering on during a lift or challenging moment. On more than one occasion a kind word has made the difference between giving up or going for one more rep. Plus - the community comes together to support members in need or going through difficult times.
There are plenty of opportunities for additional programming or coaching. Fringe offers a number of workshops and challenge’s throughout the year. I just finished a great nutrition challenge.
The coaching staff are awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, supportive, and fun. I haven’t encountered a coach yet who wasn’t welcoming and willing to help when asked.
Finally - I have to give a shout-out to Coach Sam. Amazing doesn’t start to describe her. She has pushed when I needed it, but she had also provided tons of support and guidance. Sam knows her stuff (as do all the coaches) and makes the morning workouts fun even when they are challenging.
Fringe has something for everyone - from those who are super fit who want to compete to those, like me, who are starting from square one.
I highly recommend Fringe for anyone looking for a great gym with an awesome community.

I've been coming here for 2 years. I should have written a review two years ago, so here is to making up for lost time.
Getting into great shape is going to happen if you join and commit, but that is only part of the story. You will get personalized attention and improve your form in every movement. Even the top athletes and veteran crossfitters get coaching ques. You never stop learning about form and fitness (and nutrition if you so desire). If you have certain goals, the staff will work with you to meet those as well. If you come in with an open mind and determined to make it through an hour you will succeed.
What has struck me more than anything is a true sense of community. Now, several organizations use that word flippantly, but it really happens at Fringe. Members forge friendships and celebrate each other's victories, both in and out of the gym. Some days I just go to the gym to see some fun folks, the workout is incidental.
Just to clear up a common misconception, you DO NOT have to be a chiseled athlete to walk through the doors. Various fitness levels are present in every class and all are welcome. We are all here to get better and help each other get better.
I ditched more traditional gyms 20 years ago due to crowds, cliques, and members mistreating one another. I have seen none of that at Fringe. I walked into the place a skeptic, but my doubts were quickly put to rest by caring coaches and a welcoming and supportive community.

Coming into Crossfit Fringe I was a little nervous about how my experience would be, however after the first class it felt like home. The coaches / trainers here are super. They're great people, very professional, very knowledgeable. They care about helping you reach your goals and become your best. I don't miss Vitality unless I'm out of town because it is such a great class. I worked out on my own before joining the class and the class is so much better than working out on my own. There is always variety in the workouts. The coaches will tailor the workout to each person's ability. The other people in the class are fun and supportive. If you're looking for a place to work out you should definitely check out CrossFit Fringe!

Before committing to my first coaching session I was extremely nervous. I'm almost 40, out of shape and absolutely hate chain gyms because I feel like I am being judged for anything I do. Before stepping foot in CFF I had been in contact with Tyler and Nate, who were so warm and welcoming that it eased some nerves. When I finally went in what I found was not what I expected. The 5:30 class was still in session so I was able to watch individuals of all ages, fitness levels and sizes work together. They were cheering each other on, the coach was 100% involved at helping everyone with proper form and scaling, and they were all getting at it. My son came with me that night because he was interested in the kid classes as well, so Nate bonded with my son by breaking what they do down and why they do it. He took the time to understand what my son was interested in and was able to make comparisons to baseball to break down the "why" for him. During my elements 1x1 coaching session coach Abby broke each movement down to the absolute basic so that proper form and understanding was developed correctly. Was it intimidating? yes. Was it hard? Yes. Did I love every second of it? Yes. Crossfit is hard but what Fringe has done is create an atmosphere where you forget it is hard because everyone is doing it and in the end you are excited about what you have accomplished. If you have ever thought about starting or returning to crossfit Fringe is where its at, forget your fear and get your fitness on!

I have been going to the Fringe for over two months now. I started there without knowing what was cross fitness. I just wanted to find a place to motivate myself to work out consistently, especially after being physically inactive for 3 years due to pregnancy.
I have been loving this place sine the first day I visited there! The trainers Angelo, Nate, and Sam I had classes with are super professional and awesome! The way they design the workout plan makes it interesting and new everyday.

I joined this CrossFit gym new to the sport entirely one year ago. Out of all the boxes I researched, I was truly impressed by this one and their training staff. For the competition elite, Fringe is definitely the place. For the people that need to spend an hour of their day moving in any way possible (literally me), Fringe is also definitely the place. I still don't regret my choice of choosing Fringe, and I am not looking forward to moving away from Columbia, MO as my expectations of what a CrossFit box and programming should be are now Fringe high.

Whomever rated Fringe as 1-star needs to reevaluate their outlook on life or stop being a trolling tool. That claim of “bullying” is absurd.
I’ve dropped in a number of gyms across the country and few can stand up to the quality of coaching you’ll find at Fringe.
If you enjoy thoughtful and challenging workouts and key movement cues to better your positions and efficiency then look no further than crossfit Fringe.

Love, love, love my Fringe family! The progress I made in my year at Fringe (only left because of a year long exchange program to Germany) could not have been possible without the quality training and coaches and the encouraging atmosphere. I started working out at Fringe in February. I’ve always loved going to the gym and have regularly attended other gyms in town. I decided to try CrossFit as a way to challenge myself. I started CrossFit at the former Fringe West (previously Iron Wolf) location about 2 1/2 years ago. The experience has seriously changed my life -- how I think about fitness, mobility, nutrition, and even just organizing my day. CrossFit Fringe has completely changed my view of exercise. I look forward to class every day. I never realized how much a community really helps you do better. We did a workout where you had to run (which is definitely not my strong suit) and I shaved over 20 seconds off of my time because every one was cheering me on. Everyone is so nice and accepting. The coaches pay attention to everyone and make sure that everyone can do each workout. I no longer feel like less of an athlete due to my need to scale so many workouts. If you just want a gym you can go anywhere but if you want to be part of a community come to Fringe! You'll never look back!

Fringe is an incredible gym! Members are warm and welcoming. The gym is kept VERY CLEAN. The equipment is new and ALWAYS clean. The workouts are planned out by world class athletes, and the results back it up. After a decade off lifting, it took just 6 weeks of class to return to my old lifts! Even blew past my old power clean by 15%! Having a SOLID routine guarantees that effort yields results, and for this reason I'm very happy to have found Fringe.
Here is my tip. Don't be thrown off by equipmemt that doesn't shine as "brand new" as some gyms. The patina that builds on steel reveals how many incredible athletes choose a gym, how much time is spent there, how hard people work there. Shiny equipment only keeps a perfect luster if it's not being used. Seeing well kept but well used equipment is a secret to choosing the right gym, which is why I'm proud to add to the patina at Fringe that screams "work was done".

This place has truly changed my life. The coaches, the workouts, the camaraderie of CrossFit Fringe are by far the best in Columbia. Not to mention, our brand new facility, which is centrally located near downtown Columbia, is top notch. This place is more than a gym, the people here care about you and your wellbeing, CrossFit Fringe is a family.

Wasn't convinced that CrossFit was beneficial but after attending a trial class on Saturday at the Fringe I am pretty much sold! The workout was intense and the people here are super motivating! Great way to start your Saturday off right. The instructor's focus on form was refreshing as well.

CrossFit Fringe was my first ever CrossFit Box. Fringe was so much more than just a place to work out at. Fringe became my home. I made great friends and memories here. The coaching staff is amazing. Before I joined CrossFit, I was the type of person who focused more on how I looked, rather than how healthy I was. Fringe helped me focus on the fitness and gain more confidence in myself. Over the summers, I lived in Kansas City, so I have tried out numerous of other CrossFit gyms and I can definitely say that Fringe is great place. There programming is effective for all levels of CrossFitters, whether you are super competitive or just starting out like I was 3 years ago the coaches will push you and challenge you to be your best!

I've been doing individual program design with Angelo Fosco for about 6 months, and it's awesome. At the beginning we sat down and talked about goals, time commitments, nutrition, injuries, training history, etc., and he's put together very intelligent programming geared specifically at my goals. I've worked through and repaired pre-existing injuries with his help, and made tons of progress, I seem to set a new PR every week. He's a great guy and a great coach/mentor. He takes his job very seriously, and is extremely responsive over email, I've never waited a significant length of time for a response. Highly recommended for a personal trainer. He also designs the group programming for the classes, and I've heard nothing but excellent things about them.
The Fringe community is also lots of fun. It's easy-going, and it's easy to make friends, whether you're doing classes or doing your own thing. Every single coach has their head screwed on straight. Tyler runs a good gym for sure.

After a year of living in Columbia I can safely say this gym is my favorite place in town. The people are awesome and it truly feels like a community. Aside from that the coaching is top notch, there are lots of open gym times, and the tunes are good.

I was one of those people who thought Crossfit was only for the elite athlete until about four months ago when my friend finally convinced me to give it a try. I was not in great shape and had been looking for a workout that would help me stay interested and motivated on my journey to get healthier. When I walked into my first class, I thought I'd never survive, but through the support and encouragement of the coaches and members I did.. and to my surprise couldn't wait to get back the next day to struggle through it all over again! I love that every workout is completely scalable to meet all fitness levels and I never feel inadequate or behind; in fact I feel inspired to get better and be better every single day by watching those around me push to do the same. My whole perspective on Crossfit and fitness in general has changed thanks to the wonderful people at Fringe and, although I have a long way to go in my weight loss journey, I feel more motivated than ever thanks to them.

I am a young college student, a freshman who had only dipped her toes into crossfit. Coming to college I wanted to continue doing what would keep me in shape. I chose Fringe after going to a free class, I felt like there was no need for me to search elsewhere for a box... they had everything I wanted. After my first 2 weeks I had learned more than I had learned in 2 months doing crossfit before moving to Columbia. I can't say enough how absolutely amazing the coaches, people, and programming is here. Not only that, it is such an amazing environment! As I said earlier... I joined to stay in shape, and am now in love. With fitness, with my Fringe family, and with the process! As for some statistical things... I joined Crossfit Fringe the first week of September with a 200 pound back squat max, it is now 2 and a half months later, mid November, and I just squatted 255. The programming is amazing, and that is just proof. I just can't say enough how highly I think of Fringe and of all the empowering people there.

I've been going to Fringe for almost a year and half and walking through those doors is still one of the best life-changing decisions I've ever made. It's always scary to embark on a new journey, but honestly, I felt comfortable immediately. I went to a free class....completed On-Ramp (now Elements)...signed up...and kept showing up. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, of course, but they're also extremely supportive and caring. And the members are ever encouraging. No one finishes alone. I've made some amazing friends and had some awesome experiences. And I just keep walking through those doors.

This Gym has everything you need. For Starters, the coaching staff is one of the most knowledgeable groups I have ever met. Tyler Lasley knows the in's and out's of not just Crossfit, but Strength and Conditioning & Nutrition as a whole. On top of that, he is always seeking more information and seems to know everybody who is somebody in the world of SC and Nutrition. He puts the goal of a healthier lifestyle for his members in the forethought of the gym's programming. He also will take the time to talk to whoever reaches out to him (I would know because I blow up his phone all of the time). Tyler is always looking to see what he can do to improve both the gym and the experience for its members and that's what you should look for in the head of a gym.
Every coach at this gym has a technical understanding of the lifts and movements used in Crossfit. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crossfiter, the coaches can help you with these movements and you will see an improvement.
The gym has great equipment, is always clean, and has a nice layout. It has plenty of equipment and space so large classes do not feel cramped. The gym also runs its events and competitions well.
If you're in Columbia, Mo and you are looking for a gym, there is no better option than Crossfit Fringe.

I love this gym! I've known Nate and Tyler for years and both of these guys are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and are excellent coaches. If you are looking for a hard workout, elite coaching, and a great atmosphere, then definitely check this place out! Also, their member base is really varied so there are people of all ages and ability levels are welcome and feel at home! Great Crossfit Box for sure.

From Omaha, NE, dropped in while visiting family and am relatively new (6ish months) to crossfit. The facilities are large with enough equipment to accommodate the amount of people in attendance and then some. The training staff was knowledgeable and it was refreshing to get a different perspective on some of my forms.
Even though I was a drop in, the staff and community made me feel welcome and like I belonged. It felt like being back at my own gym in Nebraska. Thank you for the opportunity to work out CFF, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

There are a lot of things that are awesome about this place, but two points really stand out. First, the community, coaches and athletes alike, at CrossFit Fringe is amazing. An incredible amount of support is available for everyone, regardless of fitness level, and it is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. Second, the coaches here are highly-skilled, knowledgeable, and meticulous. There is a strong awareness that incorrect form can be dangerous, and great attention is paid to making sure athletes are performing lifts properly. There is a lot of variation in boxes out there, but both the community and the high-quality coaching at CrossFit Fringe make it a great place to get into shape.
