I took a chance on the 14-day 360 offer and it was the best experience. Right from the start I felt that I was in a supportive community that would allow me to ease back into an exercise routine. I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first to start a new chapter in my life, which is exercising. Like many people, I wasn’t sure what to expect or if it would be the right fit for me. But from the moment I began, my doubts disappeared.
At the Functional Elements Training & Nutrition, personal training sessions are outstanding. Eddie is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and really takes the time to tailor each workout to your individual goals and fitness level.
The group sessions are just as impressive. Coaches Ryan, Patrick, and Eddie take the time to adjust exercises to individual levels while keeping the group moving together. They provide everyone with personal attention while keeping the workouts both fun and challenging. The energy is motivating, the atmosphere is positive, and everyone is welcoming — regardless of where you’re starting from. It’s a perfect mix of fun, accountability, and serious training. I felt challenged but never overwhelmed, and I began to see progress much sooner than I expected.
I would also like to praise Tony, who conducted my initial evaluation, and Jaime, the nutritional specialist. Jaime’s guidance made a difference in how I approached my eating habits. The advice was practical, easy to follow, and completely personalized — which helped me see even better results from my training.
Overall, Exercise Training has far exceeded my expectations. Whether you're a beginner or looking to take your fitness to the next level, I can’t recommend them enough!

I joined this gym a month ago, and it has truly been very helpful. This is about to be a scathing review of my experience at FE so far…
…Scathingly amazing. I came in expecting the usual gym spiel—awkward eye contact, a tour that felt more like a hostage situation, and maybe a lonely dumbbell in the corner for emotional support. But what I got instead? Structure. Camaraderie. Muscles I didn’t even know existed screaming in foreign dialects.
The multigroup training sessions feel like being part of a sports movie montage—minus the dramatic background music and with more sweat. Everyone's in their own lane but somehow still cheering you on, like a beautiful chaos of doing split squats 🥲, and bonding. You don’t just show up here—you arrive, and you leave feeling like your muscles got a master's degree.
Now let’s talk about personal training. Imagine a coach who somehow knows how to push you just shy of cursing in four languages but also makes you laugh mid-plank. That’s the sorcery going on here. They remember your goals, your limitations, and that one time you almost fainted during sled pushes (just me? cool).
FE doesn’t just stand for "Functional Elements"—it’s also “Finally Enjoyable,” “Feel Everything,” and when doing that leg workout… “Forgive Everything.”
So, if you're looking for a gym that feels like a second home (if your home gives you killer workouts and relentless encouragement), FE is the place. Just beware—you might accidentally get stronger, more disciplined, and start liking Mondays.

I have back issues and have struggled to find a gym where the trainers keep my issues in mind and give me the extra attention I need. I've personally had great success learning from Jaime the do's and don'ts for healthier eating habits and learning from Ryan the proper techniques for training.
I've also joined their Micro Group Training sessions and really enjoy training with other clients. It's fun getting to know other people and learning about their own fitness journeys!

I went from lounging to lunging in just a few weeks! I can lunge here or there--I can lunge anywhere.
My initial body scan at Functional Elements (FE) was a sobering reality check. I knew I had to take action, so I took a leap of faith and signed up for training. Despite my struggles with coordination, I’m truly amazed by my progress.
FE is one of the best training facilities I’ve attended. I appreciate that their program addresses both nutrition and fitness. The trainers are excellent—compassionate, PATIENT, professional, and knowledgeable. Additionally, the environment is clean, organized, and not overstimulating. My relationship with Functional Elements goes back 10+ years. These folks are down to earth, honest and caring individuals with highest integrity. Their ability to assess, listen to your needs and provide measurable/attainable goals is what sets them apart from many other competitors. They provide a family oriented, friendly environment for people from all ages to come in and ‘train for life’. They frequently go through additional training, seminars and get certified with latest and greatest in fitness training.
If I was to talk about my personal journey, I must say I owe everything about my current condition to my trainer Jaime. He has trained my mind and body to do the right things. He has educated me to give my body ‘what it needs, when it needs it’ Today, I am 5’7 weighing ~147 lbs. This was not always the case. I weighted as much as ~173 lbs and through proper diet education and training I have received from Jaime, I have been able to loose and maintain my current weight as well as lowering my bad cholesterol. I am now a part time client of FE and Jaime where I train with them whenever I am in Saint Louis but I take my education and training wherever I go. I hike, run or walk 4-5 times a week and love life in the great outdoors out West.
I encourage everyone looking to get healthy in a friendly, caring environment to pop in for an assessment, attend one of their micro sessions OR a 1 on 1 session.

My decision to commit and join Functional Elements is the single best decision I’ve made in my 40s. Ive tried all sorts of gyms and workouts in the past, but my experience here has been truly exceptional. The workouts are challenging but attainable, and you walk out just feeling so much better about what you just accomplished. Like so many of us, between work and parenthood, life got in the way and my health and fitness got lost in the shuffle. After a hike with my family, I was embarrassed by my lack of physical fitness and decided to make some changes. I could NOT have done it without the FE team. Jaime customized a (very doable) nutritional plan that kept me nourished and fueled, and Patrick has worked to help me get stronger and more fit than I’ve been in years. These guys have created a really special culture in the gym that is friendly and accessible for everybody from student athletes to retirees. I have been training Ryan at FE for 2 years. I have never been stronger in my life and I love the results that I’ve seen. My experience with Functional Elements Training has consistently exceeded my expectations. During my initial phone inquiry, Jaime was very clear and detailed regarding every detail of the program. My initial assessment was thorough. The team dug deep into my past experiences, current habits and most importantly my personal goals and expectations. The team then laid out a clear plan of attack. I particularly like that this plan includes regular reassessments to measure concrete progress.
Having neglected regular excersize for years, I was naturally reticent about stepping back into the gym. My fears were promptly allayed and replaced with a confidence and enthusiasm I did not expect. I can honestly say I look forward to each workout. First of all, everyone you meet in this gym is supportive and encouraging; not just the staff, but every client as well. Everyone has been welcoming. We help each other, we cheer each other on; you just feel that everyone is sincerely invested in your success. Every session is hard. I sweat, I'm out of breath, I struggle and I am sore afterwards; but each session is also within my capabilities and I do not feel overwhelmed of defeated. The program seems to hit a "Sweet Spot" that results in a consistent feeling of significant accomplishment. I don't know what more you could ask for in a training program.

If you are looking for personal attention tailored to your nutritional and fitness needs, Functional Elements is the place to go! All of the trainers are friendly and professional, and really take the time to show proper form to avoid injury and to get maximum benefit. The small group classes are fantastic, with a different workout every day so my muscles are always surprised. Within two months of starting a training program with FE, I lost 3% body fat and gained muscle. I am so glad I joined Functional Elements! I have been working out there for a little over a year and it has been life changing. I now look forward to my work-outs and seeing all workout "buddies" and am so impressed by how strong I have become and how my body has changed. The trainers are amazing and provide individual feedback and help with any and all concerns. Each trainer is approachable, helpful and responsive and I find myself going to each of them with different questions because they have different areas of expertise (nutrition etc). The team at Fe is top notch. I looked into quite a few trainers in my area; some seemed too unorganized; some seemed too sales-pitchy. This team felt just right. From when I walked in, everyone knew my name and later
my goals, and nothing feels fraudulent, just genuine people who want to help foster said goals. I didn't think I would be keen on the micro (small group) but the attention even in that setting feels catered to me, and I can tell they lead with goals and teamwork in mind as they model positivity & encourage the whole group to fist bump and give each other props on their (our) hard work on the way out. There were people younger than I and older than I, and I felt we each trained knowing they are leading and listening if we had any individual issues.They are also accessible which is priceless for communication. I finally had the opportunity to experience the greatness of the famed Functional Elements Training and Nutrition Center, and I am grateful for every moment. As someone who lives out-of-state and comes home to visit family and friends, I make it a priority to move and integrate movement during my stay. I will now be frequenting Functional Elements not only for the top-notch expert coaches, but for the community culture and whole person approach.
The staff at Functional Elements are experts in their fields with the drive to push towards a healthy "how can we do better?" and to help their clients achieve their "why". I learned a lot from Tony and Jaime during a brief, but comprehensive meeting about how to stand up an outfit like Functional Elements. It wasn't or isn't easy. It requires talent, sweat, and a team of dedicated exercise science experts with tremendous care. Patrick led a multi-planar micro-group training session with precision and attentiveness. It hit the nail on the head for mobility, strength, and group sweat.
Functional Elements staff have backgrounds in exercise science, personal training, strength and condition, and performance. They engage in continuing education and stay up-to-date on the latest research.

Functional Elements was recommended to me by a friend a little over 2 years ago. I have been really pleased with the results after working with Patrick. Everyone there is incredibly nice. I have been able to put on muscle and lose a few lbs at 42 years old. I prefer to work out at home but they work with me to put together a routine and go through the exercises and work on form. Then I am able to implement the program at home. They always work with me if I have questions and will send me a video if needed. I then go back a few times a year for new programs. They also provided some information on nutrition that has helped. My wife who was very skeptical of working with a trainer has also started doing the same thing and getting her own tailored programs and she loves it too.

Shout out to the professionals at FE! Found myself wanting to get back in shape but had no discipline. I needed accountability!! Functional Elements is a great place to work out, you can choose 1-on-1 with a personal trainer or micro group training. For me, I need the commitment to work out with a trainer to consistently set aside time for myself. Tony has done a great job designing training (and nutrition) programs that have improved my fitness and energy levels. As a general rule, I hate exercise! However as I age and become less flexible and less mobile, I recognize the importance of staying fit and healthy. Functional Elements provided me a comprehensive plan of fitness, nutrition, and weight loss and got me started on that journey. I’m enjoying the MGT sessions and find them challenging but I’m already seeing improvements in my strength and endurance. Most days I feel better after my workout and enjoy the personal attention of the small group classes. I met Tony 20 yrs ago when he was training my daughter for soccer.
Even though I was intimidated at him training athletes, I started working out with him anyway, and he proved me wrong. He was able to cater to my needs, adapting my exercise program as they changed throughout the years, while also making the exercise fun.
Tony is so great at what he does, 20 years later, he is still is my trainer. Even through all the MANY time periods where I did not want to exercise, he continues to encourage me through phone calls and texts.
He goes above and beyond, answering my random texts asking for advice…and over 20 years there have been A LOT of questions, like “should I eat this?
What can I eat to help heal from this sickness? Can I do this activity or will I get hurt? What should I do, and avoid, to help my elbow pain? Etc etc.”
Not to mention the atmosphere at FE is also supportive & encouraging. When I had a conflict in my schedule I was able to train with another trainer.
All of the trainers are great to work out with- each bringing their own skills and knowledge to each session. Plus it’s fun to mix it up with other trainers, they are all fantastic!
If working out with a personal trainer seems intimidating then I would suggest considering doing the Micro Group Training sessions (MGT)
# 1 It’s FUN, the Hr flys by and I have tons of energy throughout the day! Plus it’s a great way to meet a few new people. The classes are limited to 6 and the age and abilities are all varied.

Now, for those who want details:
My initial consultations with Toni was great. He met me where I was, we discussed goals, and did a very interesting body assessment to use data to back the plan. I then met with Jaime for nutrition. He was wonderful! We discussed my dietary restrictions and preferences, and he gave me a good plan and helped me focus on where I was most needing changes. Not once did I feel like I was being judged (I am plus size and it can be hard to find professionals who are only supportive). In my experience, these guys fit the bill.
I've been working out with Jesse for a while, and was thrilled to keep working with him. The workout assessment was helpful, and we have a specific training program to meet my goals and work on weak areas. I feel encouraged and pushed to be my best self.
The facility is clean and well organized, always a comfortable temperature and, at least whenever I am there, never too busy or loud (I have some sensory issues, so this is huge for me). Every staff member I have interacted with has been kind and welcoming.
TLDR if you are looking for a science backed approach to health and fitness, that is size inclusive, these guys are awesome and do a completely personalized approach to help you be your best self. I wish there was a way to do more then 5 stars!

I’m closer to 80 than I am to 70. I became an “athlete” in my 30s and played soccer, volleyball, softball, racquetball into my 50s. I’ve had two hip replacements, an ankle repair. I have a rotator cuff with a full thickness tear and a number of blown disks. In other words, I’m a mess. I knew I had to do something if I didn’t want to end up in a wheel chair drooling on myself. They all know you by name, seem genuinely happy to have you in their gym, and are dedicated to your success. Every trainer there has their credentials, training experience, and personal training experience. The atmosphere is very light hearted and inviting. If you suffer from any ailments that prevents you from doing a certain exercise, that is not an issue here. Every trainer will accommodate and customize your program for your needs. I can't talk highly enough of these guys. The workouts are dynamic and tailored to each person. I recently had a sever back injury (no fault to them), and Tony has been working with my physical therapist to make sure the workouts are supporting that work and making me stronger. I just had a call with Jaime, the registered dietician and one of the founders. Jaime Rothermich has been a dear and abiding friend of mine for nearly 3 decades. We talk often, share jokes, and support each other through this journey of life. He does not take himself seriously, but he does take his chosen profession seriously. After spending many years perfecting his craft at a local nutrition clinic, Jaime ventured out on his own to start his own successful nutritional clinic and training enterprise.
To say that I am wildly proud of Jaime for his accomplishments in his chosen field would be an understatement. Jaime genuinely cares about his clients--their success is his success. His encouragement and friendship; in addition to the scientific knowledge he possesses, helped me reverse the downward spiral in a relatively short period of time.
Jaime, through Functional Elements, has assembled a great team of true experts to help anyone, regardless of one's circumstances or background, gain success in nutrition and fitness.
Jaime continues to provide expert help to me by developing customized nutrition plans, while promptly answering my questions and providing advice.

I've worked out with personal trainers most of my life, but I've never had the experience—or results—like with the team at Functional Elements.

Love to write a glowing review for the trainers and facility at Functional Elements! I made the decision over twenty years ago that my hard earned money could not be spent any better way than on my own personal well being and training with Jaime, who is now one of the principals at FE. The size of the gym is ideal...not intimidating. The equipment is state of the art and constantly being upgraded as the science of training progresses. All five trainers are credentialed, enthusiastic, attentive to correct technique and the best at what they do.
The cost is competitive and worth every penny. The key, however, is that the atmosphere at FE promotes sticking with it. That's rare.

Functional Elements is AWESOME! I have been a part of a few different programs with FE including the Fab14 where I lost just over 17lbs in the short window, from the help of Jamie and his insight as well as the overall plan they have designed. I also worked in a group training with Patrick who was extremely professional and attentive towards the participants making sure we were effectively and accurately conducting the workouts. Could not have better things to say about this company and would recommend anyone to work with the FE team!
