It's a medium sized gym when compared with other area Gold's Gym.Β  However, it does have a full basketball court, two-lane pool, sauna & steam room.Β  Seems to be a limited amount of heavy weight machines. There's only 8 stationary bikes in the aerobics area. Staff works hard to keep the place clean.

Not sure why the gym has 3.3 stars. I come from NYC, this gym is far superior in cleanliness, equipment, staff, and amenities. Love the military discount and the no contract. Staff is quick and friendly, zero issues so far. Will update in four months.

I gave it five stars because of Rachel at the front desk. She has a very friendly personality. The rest of the staff are friendly, but hers stands out. It's amazing how she remembers people names without looking at the computer to remind her😊.

She greets us by name with a big smile. I've seen other people besides myself come in and she remembers their names. Extremely friendly personality 😊.

The lady at the desk and another lady from the office were both rude to me, assumed I was trying to get free gym pass days. I was new to the gym was hoping to get back to working out again, they never asked me about a membership and what I was looking for in a gym. Hassled me for an id. It was a terrible experience.

I went in today to try out the three day pass that I was offered to see if I even liked the gym and the people at the desk were very pushy about a membership and because I didn’t want to talk to anyone she told me no more free passes when the website offers free passes! I just thought that was very unprofessional. I definitely will not be going back free pass or not.

First place I joined once Silver Sneakers was in effect. Had a very nice and informative tour with Mandy, the GM. Lots of new equipment coming in. Everything is very clean. All staff I've encountered, so far, are helpful and friendly. I especially like the pool and hot tub.

Golds’s gym st.charels new manager is is ridiculous. She just kicked me out of the gym for wrearing blue jeans. I told her I was helping spot nephew work out as he had knee surgery so I put weights on and off. She said well in that case you are not one of our trainers so you still need to leave. I’ve been there for years. I asked you can’t just give me a warning today and I’ll come back. She said no, you need to leave. Please save your money if you’re thinking about signing up there. I just left here in tears because the staff treated me so rudely. Steven and Edison acted like I was completely putting them out when I asked how to go about canceling my membership due to an injury. They had someone behind the desk that openly admitted he doesn’t work there. No one had any idea how to handle basic questions. Why is there no management there on a Saturday afternoon? Absolutely unacceptable. Do NOT waste your money here!

Edit: I was a member here for years, was part of the 24 hour fitness acquisition. I canceled my membership a few months ago because their new restriced hours simply don't work for me. I cancelled with one of the managers, he seemed nice and sorry to see me go. A month later I was billed again anyways for the membership. I go inside to get it fixed and the desk attendant admitted there is a large stack of cancellations "sitting" on a desk in the back not entered in and they will make sure I don't get billed again. WHAT?!? Ouch guys. Another month goes by, no refund for the $30 they stole out of my account and their corporate line won't return my calls. This stinks guys- extreme lack of professionalism

Although the facility is well maintained, they dont care much about what their members want or need. Even when members band together and make desires known, it falls on deaf ears. They dont treat the employees well or fairly. The management is unresponsive to any request. The pool is often out of order. They do somehow have a good member base, probably left over from the time it was under 24hr fitness management. Good parking. Good hours of operation.

I have been a member for 10 years and been going to the St. Charles since they had changed to gold's from 24hr. Used to frequent the Dorset and 94 location. The equipment is definitely sub standard for a golds and broken frequently for a long period of time. Staff is very friendly but has thet same level of concern when I discuss equipment condition. I continue to use bc of proximity of my work but I would save the money and go to club fitness or planet fitness for a better bang for the buck!

They have done some updates since they took over when it was 24 hour fitness and the staff is very friendly, however a lot of cardio equipment seems to be in need of service constantly and should be replaced probably as well as some of the other equipment. It's not as busy as other gyms which is great if you're looking to be able to actually work out though.

I'm one of the team members at golds gym. The equipment I need is available, it's not too cold, not too hot in the gym. Only thing that would make it 110% would be Ice baths to help with recovery.

Payed up my membership for a year. They started charging my card 6 months in. Tried to convince me they held my money in a cloud account and used it. Made no sense at all. Member with two other CORPORATE Golds Gyms one in Bloomington and one in Saint Peters and they've never heard of such nonsense. THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES. Stay away at all cost. I rejoined Clubfitness. It's not the bigger of the two but atleast they've never stole from me.

Loved this gym at one point. Once when it was 24hr Fitness. Then I learned to love it when it became Gold's. Long story short I had to leave because of the constant change in hours. It hurt to go after being a member for over 10yrs but the ridiculous hours are now unreasonable.

I usually go to the gold’s gym on 94 which I love! I recently moved and have been going to the St.charles location. It is just gross! The machines are rusted out and dirty, not up to date. The slamming of weights is very annoying and I don’t think should be allowed because it disrupts everyone else around them. This gym is not clean! There is dirt all over the floors. I’m just not impressed with this location. It’s not worth the money.

management is terrible at this location! they charged me $20 extra on top of my monthly dues claiming my payment was declined which was not because they took their $37.77 same day which was 4/15/2018. i called the next day to ask for the $20 refund and i was promised a refund with in 3-5 business days which i was happy with that time frame. However, today is 5/15/2018 and i have not received my refund so i called again. the manager told me that he has to send an email to the regional manager to get approval for the refund and i asked why this has not been done last MONTH! this is too much play with my hard earned money.

Be careful when giving them your bank account information I have been dealing with charges I did not authorize on my account and they will not fix it in a satisfactory manor. I am canceling my membership immediately and chalking off my $400 loss to being stupid and not listening to others not to join this gym.

So after I cancelled my membership and was guaranteed by the GM that I would NOT hany more chargers to my card and today I get a notice from my card tell me that Gold's Gym charged my card on April 15th 2018! This is BAD BUSINESS!!! and I call them and the staff are freaking clueless!

After I asked for a manager they said no managers were in but I can help you! YEAH RIGHT!! they are NOT trained to help someone that needs a reversal done on their card!!!

This place is more of a hangout spot!!

The only good thing about this place was location and professional front desk staff. The majority of the weights need replacement due to age and rusting and management just wants your money and doesn't follow contract agreements. I was on a month to month plan. Turned in my cancellation a WEEK before my monthly payment. That's fine, I know you'd get billed one last time before your membership ends. They supposedly "Received" my cancellation notice conveniently three weeks after I turned my notice in for them allowing them to bill me once more and in contract it says billing will stop 30 days after received. Called twice to get this resolved, I was notified that they would "Get back to me", they never did. So if you go here, go for the long haul, don't bother with month to month as management will conveniently ensure they get an extra months membership out of you.

Edit**: FYI, 3 weeks after the response, they never got back to me, just so people know responses usually try to resolve issues but never actually do.

I been with golds gym since 2014 and it was a great gym at first. They always fixed their machines, very helpful staff and more, but now it feels like I'm not getting my money worth. It's a expensive gym which is understandable because the things that come with the gym membership but I'm not gone keep this membership if they keep cutting they hours. At first it was 24 hours and I was happy going to the gym at 2 in the morning. Now every month seems like I get an email from golds gym saying, They changing they hours once again. If they change they hours and cut them more. I'm going to planet fitness or club fitness. I love working out late at night and I use to love going but now it's messing up my daily life just trying to find time for the gym. I'll rather take my 40 dollars a month somewhere else with stable hours.

This facility was formerly the 24-Hour Fitness Center, but last year it was bought out by Gold's Gym. To be honest, this is nothing more than a corporate cookie cutter operation, which is run by executives who manage solely by spreadsheets and body count: They want memberships, they want money, and they want their big, fat bonus checks. Period. When it comes to resolving problems, however, then you're dealing with another faceless corporation. As an example, this facility has a steam room. For weeks at a time, the steam room is out of service. When I call to see if the steam room has been put back into service, I am told that they "are still waiting for a part to come in." This game of making lame excuses goes on for weeks at a time. It's ridiculous, because 24 Hour Fitness used the very same excuse whenever they shut down the steam room. Think of it, with overnight shipping, we can get a package anywhere in the world within roughly 24-hours. Yet, we have Gold's Gym with its multi-million dollar operating budget, and it takes them weeks to obtain a simple repair part to fix a steam generator. In my view, this tells you everything that you need to know about Gold's Gym: Yes, they want your money (that's for sure!), but if you have a problem...well, maybe they will get back to you. For what it is worth.

Just joined after moving too far from the gym I used to go to, some of the equipment seems dated but seems to work just fine, the pool is fixed and looks pretty nice. They say they will be doing a lot of upgrades and I'll be interested to see them. Had no problems signing up, it does seem a little odd that the person working the front desk cannot do much beyond sign people in but they're a large company so it is what is overall the staff seems pretty decent.
