The music at this gym is excessively loud, especially at the body pump and spinning classes. I've asked the staff to turn it down and it continues to be unbearably loud. This gym's operator doesn't understand that more harm is done by damaging their customers' hearing than any good from these classes. The music appears to be much louder than a concert, and at those levels, even short amount of exposure will lead to hearing loss.

Have been a golds member for a few years now. Rarely use this location but my mom does. I purchased her some training seasons for christmas only to find out later that they wont allow her to use them because she already used the promo offer. Something I wasnt informed of at the time of purchase. They told me I would have my card refunded. Two weeks later I have yet to see the refund and when I attempted to contact the manager Conner the first time I was left on hold for over 15 minutes and had to call back. Conner then assured me he would look into it and call me back. He never returned the call. Even with people from the location I do use trying to help I have been unable to get this resolved and have had little to no cooperation from this location at all. I hope this doesnt reflect on the company as a whole but it seems to me the management at this location should be reconsidered.

My name is Brian crook, my best friend is mike edgrin. We both have been getting billed after we cancelled membership. Is it a coincidence or is this how you treat veterans? The gm promised me months ago these issues would be resolved. But yet me and mike both get harassing emails weekly. Its a shame they give this kind of customer service, The gym is a nice atmosphere

Overcharging and ZERO customer service from management. I have been with Golds Gym for about 4 years now. I have had automatic payments taken out since the day I started. I had fraudulent activity on my account and the card was shut off. This means i was 6 days late to make my $17 payment to Golds. I let the front desk know that I would bring my card in ASAP to pay that bi weekly payment and they notated my account.

Finally my card came in and I paid $37 at the front desk. I wondered why it was so high, but trusted that Gold's Gym wouldn't screw me over. WRONG. They charged me a $20 decline fee??? A $20 decline fee. I have never been late with a payment ever in 4 years. And they have the audacity to charge me more then my bi weekly payment even is! I have been trying to reach management or someone to help refund me and no one is ever available. I cant even leave a voicemail, because the line for a manager rings until there is just silence.

To be fair this would not even be a big deal if everything else was okay. On top of this annoyance, they raised my rates, stopped being 24 hours, don't open until 7:00am on Saturdays, and the equipment is ALWAYS broken.

I am so unhappy and angry that I will be going to club fitness, where I will be able to pay less and will have more.

Canceling my membership today! The only reason I signed up in the first place was for the hours and I love the facility compared to club fitness but then they change they’re hours with total disregard of members schedules. It sucks that they aren’t 24 hours anymore.

I'm very disappointed that Gold's decided to change their hours, I don't think they realize how much business they will lose to Club Fitness, because for $15 cheaper a month, and 24/7 access why wouldn't you switch? I hope they decide to at least start using proximity cards for members that want to go late at night, during unstaffed hours. Club was doing that for years and it clearly worked well for them, I really doubt that would be that hard to manage. I've stayed at Gold's because I like the atmosphere more than Club Fitness, but if Gold's doesn't give me a reason to stay, I will be switching.

DON’T DO IT! YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOUR BANK.

Moved to a new state and *CLOSED* my month-to-month account at this gym in November and they are still continuing to charge my old bank account in St. Louis in January. I went up there weeks ago to explain the issue and they said they didn’t have a clue as to why it’s still charging me and that management would call me back with answers. Management never called. Have lost over $300 in fees as I cleared out my old bank account. I have no choice but to come back to St. Louis to speak to MANAGEMENT, not some kid that isn’t paid enough to bother.

Not even going to get into how poorly ran this gym is. All the broken out of date equipment is another story.

In 16 months we have had three General Managers. A high turn over rate may be to blame for the staff changing and the unfamiliar faces; however, it feels like a revolving door. Gold’s expanded their territory by buying up 24 Hour Fitness. With that move they acquired dated facilities that were in desperate need of updating. Our rates went up and new memberships must purchase access to childcare separately. There have been some attempts made at addressing some of the most urgent concerns. A) The broken mirror by the deadlift platform has been fixed. B) The sauna heating elements seem to function most of the time. C) The pads on the equipment have been changed. D) A fresh coat of paint in the interior of the gym. E) New lights. F) A new weight rack so that the large rubber plates are not strewn everywhere causing a tripping hazard. G) The sauna created in the yoga room by the broken hvac system has been fixed. It is an aging location and things will fall apart like 1) Jets in the hot tub not meeting capacity. There’s been an unsightly round bandaid stuck to the wall that is just inches from coming into contact with a user’s body. 2) A disturbing hole in the wall of the women’s bathroom stall where it was converted from automatic flushing to manual. That issue has not been resolved in nearly a year. 3) There’s a rusted elliptical that has been on the floor for months along with a number of other non-working cardio equipment. 4) In the yoga room the base trim is floating on the wall. It’s not even attached. 5) In the summer of 2017 most of the landscaping consisted of overgrown weeds that simply were not addressed. 6)The mirrors in the β€œClassic Gold’s” section are consistently dirty with bodily fluids like spit, sweat and snot. It is expected that it will land there, but it is expected that it will be removed at least once per week! I can go on, but I won’t. As a member I could endure the nuances of a 13-year-old facility if the overall experience was a worthy investment. It has not been. The human assets that produced the experience that was centered on customer satisfaction are gone. Retaining talent in favor of patron satisfaction has not been a priority. Brittany is probably most of the members’ favorite person at the front desk. She is warm and hospitable and lively. She has been that positive and enthusiastic welcome right when you walk into the gym: the only semblance of what once existed there. When we saw her at the front desk less, a couple of members and I communicated our dissatisfaction to management. We wanted her to be at the front desk. Yesterday I saw her scrubbing walls. That has sent a message loud and clear that my opinion and that of the patrons will fall on deaf ears. Once upon a time there was a wall with comment cards and replies from management on how the concern was being addressed. That time has passed. In its place the gym amenities have been occupied and crowded by regional GM meetings, regional sales training presentations, and Bootcamp instructor tryouts that could have reasonably been conducted at a time with the least amount of gym traffic. Perhaps a meeting space may be rented out in exchange for a 7-say pass to avoid the inconvenience to members. Nevertheless, in all those points it would seem that the corporation believes that the bottom line can and will be served in spite of member satisfaction. They may be right. That type of business philosophy has worked well for Walmart. I don’t shop at Walmart for that reason. Today I question why I patronize a gym with the same philosophy. It may be time for a change.

Latest equipment for muscle building, free weights, gym for sports, aerobic room with dance based, weight based, boxing, or yoga based classes, there is a swimming pool, wet and dry sauna, and you can get personal training. Locker rooms with showers, lockers, hairdryers and soap provided. The facility is well maintained and kept clean. People are generally friendly.

I own 3 condo's in the Montecito subdivision where this particular Gym is so I occasionally visit from LA to check up on everything. I tried the gym out and like Dan said below, it's a contractual nightmare. I signed up for the month to month program because I'm not always there and when in LA I use the equinox gym so I do not need the members ship while out of town. Anyways my first bill I was charged $100.35 for what I thought was letting me do the month to month?? Then I was charged $52.57 with a $10 late fee charge because they said the funds wouldn't come out?? That's funny because the checking account had plenty of money in it. So miraculously on their 3rd try they were able to extract the funds?? So at that point I wanted to cancel because I wasn't comfortable with the entire process because nothing was what they said it would be. I called into corp office to cancel and she let me know I couldn't cancel by phone (another good gyms scam) so I happen to be passing back through and stopped by to cancel. A week later I'm again charged $52.57? So at this point I've canceled and they are still charging me plus adding that $10 fee because they aren't able to extract the funds from an account that has money in it?? Very shady situation. I called the office and Josh the manager said he would refund everything and even call corporate to share this is what we agreed on. A week goes by and I see no refunds so I call corp. and they have not heard anything, so I call Josh and he says he's been busy and hasn't had the time to do it?? So I call Corp. again 2 days later giving Josh the benefit of the doubt and tell them what's happening and still they haven't heard a thing from him. So finally Corp. calls the St.Peters location and they say they aren't going to agree on the 30 day money back as Josh and I agreed on but would refund the last payment of $52.57 with the suspicious $10 late fee. All in 1 month I was charged a little over $200. I cannot believe Golds Gym decided to conduct business like this.

First, im not sure which Golds this is referring to? I typed in a search for St. charles golds(ie 24 HR FITNESS). This review will be for that location(next to walmart and dollar tree). I have worked out for years, like 25 plus years, i know the jig, i know the equipment that i persoanlly need to shape my body. When i joined 24 hr fitness, it was perfect, except that it was dirty and old, but it had the equipment i wanted and was open 24 hours. I have dealt with gyms that close at 10 pm and belive me the rush to hurry up and get through the rest of your sets, like leg press, dead lifts, is NOT fn fun! At all, it causes more stress than its worth. Thats why I was thrilled to find this 24 hr location. I had tried golds in south county before, and they just didnt have the leg equipment I needed, nor the ab machines. I really dont like the golds attitude either. Like theyre the best. Youre not! So I was a little annoyed when golds bought 24 hr fitness but they said nothing would change, maybe some upgrades. Then....they started closing at 11. F that. That means i have to get there by 8 to have enough time to relax and do my work out(2 hrs, relaxed, resting between sets etc.) Sometimes I'm not ready to go at that time and I have a 15 minute drive, pre getting there. I joined a 24 hr gym, not a closed at 11 club. For some reason I find weekends to be best for me. I wish they would consider making it 24 hrs all week again. Considering planet fitness, they have a butt blaster but not multi hip machine, its closer to me, new as can be, purple! And half the price! For the 35$ rate golds charges, i expect 24 hr access! 2 stars for the equipment and history.

I go swimming about 3 times a week and the swimming pool is getting more dirty every time I go lately. The floor looks nasty and the sides of pool clearly show the water level mark meaning the water has been dirty for a long time. Water in jacuzzi stains and smell really bad, and I don't think I'm gonna go again.

Source: Google

β˜… 4

My only complaint is the crumby weekend hours. You're joining Golds people. There are a lot of people focused on their own goals so don't expect hugs from the people doing deadlifts or squats. Torn paddings, let them know, it's unsanitary, they'll fix it. Lastly, you sign a contract. Just like a cell company, don't expect it to be easy to get out. People not coming to the gym is how they make the extra money.

Looking for a gym home . CONS: Equipment with seat material ripped. Unless you buy a trainer package did not seem like staff was available to answer questions outside of them doing a fitness assessment when u join. Did not get the welcome/community feeling I expected being there, I felt like I was in a factory. PROS: Gym is large and have lots of equipment, pool, hot tub cardio studio, convenient location for me. In summary out of the three gyms I have also toured: club fitness (cheap, but dirty & over crowded= I will not join), YMCA (a little further from my home & cost more, but it had the welcoming/community feel, lots of equipment, friend staff and fellow gym membership available to answer questions about equipment= I would like to join), and Golds Gym (I would consider joining, but only with a month to month no contract membership & cancel if I did like after a while.

Must be careful with the cancellation policy before you join the gym membership. I recommend that you not sign any kind of contact that will bind you to pay for membership. I signed a contract for a year, but relocated from St Peter to Creve Coeur after a few months. The company would not allow any cancellation unless you relocate farther than "25 miles" from "one of the Gold's Gym" locations. The closest one to me is the one on Drosett in Maryland Height, but it is very far out of my way. Who would drive 25 mile to your gym anyway?

Working out with trainers at this Gold's Gym has been a positive, motivating experience worth every bit of effort and change required. My husband and I are 71 and 85 respectively and have lots of fun at Gold's. The staff are friendly, the people working out there are doing spectacular things, and sometimes we are too. The plant itself is truly awesome and well kept; the machines are the signature of Gold's, best I've ever seen. Lots of mothers with young children come there for an excellent kids' care program. I recommend getting the trainer experience far and away above going it alone. The depth of knowledge the trainers have is truly remarkable. Our trainers are Ross and Jessica. We recommend them both highly.

I came in with my husband about a month ago just wanting to join Gold's so I could take the classes. We ended up finding out about the personal trainers that Gold's offers and set up a free orientation with Ross Holmes. I told Ross that I had a rare medical disorder so wasn't sure if he would be able to help me. He came to the orientation with the information he needed in order to help me. I ended up signing up for sessions with him and he has been a tremendous help with diet/recipes and a work out routine that's custom to me and listens to my concerns when I'm afraid an exercise might not be for me.
