To start out with, the employees are wonderful. I wish I could say the same for the equipment. It's often broken and sits broken for sometimes months. Out of 30+ treadmills and 30+ ellipticals, there are only TWO working stairmasters. Meanwhile, you have dozens of those treadmills and ellipticals sitting unused at any given time. TAKE A HINT CORPORATE

Pros: Price, weekday hours, cardio equipment, and cleanliness (people actually clean after use). The environment is quiet and peaceful. The recovery area is nice for the cost.

Cons: The amount of machines and variety of machines, however, this is excusable given the price. The weekend hours are not the best, once again price makes up for this. The big con is just the number of squatters who just sit at a machine playing on their phones instead of working out, this unfortunately is expected at gyms especially cheaper ones.

Small gym with shitty hours, lazy staff, and a populous that apparently thinks it’s acceptable to touch other people to interrupt their workouts when they’re stupid enough to super-set in a gym of this size. I won’t be coming back here if I’m molested by another patron of this gym - it’s absolutely disgusting to think that a gym member believes they can touch someone to interrupt their workouts because they walked off to another machine. Lazy staff - have had multiple instances of being outright ignored by staff while waiting for tanning beds.

A rather small and crammed location...I called this morning to ask if they have free barbells that aren't attached to a smith machine. I was told yes, multiple. I drove 20 minutes out of my way. Turns out they only have smith machines. I'm not sure if the desk person didn't hear me or doesn't know the machines but it was a waste of 40 minutes of my day. I had already done cardio at another location (I'm visiting family). Paper towels were out in multiple places.
Womens Locker Room was less cave-like than my home location and had 3 curtained changing areas. The 3 showers were small and not very private but I liked the white tile. For some reason all the toilet trash cans were just hanging out outside the stalls.

Came to KC from out of town and decided to visit this Planet Fitness, as I am a black card member. I came around 8:45pm and it was absolutely packed. I feel that this location could benefit from more extended hours. You could not use any weight machine, cable or smith machine, as they were all occupied. I decided to get on a stairmaster and the only open one was out of order. I took myself to the 30 minute circuit workout and 2 of the machines there were broken. Seems like there's way too many cardio machines for the space. Drive yourself to the next nearest location if you actually want to get a workout in.

I have been coming to this gym for two years sometimes daily. This afternoon Reyna was incredibly rude to my husband and I. For some reason the system had an error and my husband image was an Asian women rather than him. Instead of treating us with respect and talking through the issue, she was aggressive and told us we can just leave if we don’t like the policy. We have grown accustomed to the people who work at this gym being very kind. We come so frequently the front desk workers who always say hello and goodbye and will even ask how our kids are doing. I don’t know how long Reyna has been at this location but she doesn't fit the culture of Planet Fitness “where you belong”. A better way to handle the situation would have been to check the system and try to understand why his profile image was incorrect, a glitch in technology, not to run off daily users and loyal customers.

Rayna was awesome. I had the classic membership and was unaware that I couldn’t visit any planet fitness location. The newest location in the greater Kansas City area. Conveniently located between Troost and Paseo at Emmanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. Some of the equipment is brand spanking new. The club is cleaned consistently. I enjoy the large front windows that make great use of natural lighting.

Planet Fitness now requires Black Card member guest to take a photograph. No thank you. I will not be returning.

This location has an abundance of equipment, cardio and weights. They make use of all the available space for their members fitness enjoyment. The locker room/restaurant is immaculate and always smells fresh! I have not seen so much as a stray paper towel on the floor!

Staff appear to be well trained and confident in their knowledge. Yes, social distancing mandates are being followed. Another healthy lifestyle option for the cash strapped but aptly motivated city dweller. The best thing is their new deals come sans commitment, no more contracts🙂😊!

If I could give a negative review I would. The Gym itself is fine, and all of the staff there are courteous and respectful.

The main problem that I've had is their billing department. I Moved out of state, and forgot to cancel. Well I tried calling, and they said that I needed to go in in person or write a physical letter to them. I'm living out of state mind you so I was unable to go into a physical location. I then messaged them on their website and wrote a letter stating that I wanted my membership cancelled. I was still being billed. So, I changed my routing number on my account so that I wouldn't be charged.

No FINALLY, someone called me asking how to resolve this after their charge was denied. I said that I haven't been to planet fitness in around 6 months to a year, and I do not want to renew my membership. They said that there would be ADDITIONAL charges because I didn't go in in person, and they didn't get my letter or see my message.

All of this over a membership that is around 15 dollars.

Do yourself a favor and find a gym that has better customer service. The gym itself is fine, but their billing department is run by crooks.

The Black Card membership makes this gym phenomenal!!! There's always enough machines, I haven't had to wait to use what I need next, even though it's a lot of other people working out every time I go. After completely utilizing my black card membership, as I'm walking out the door I'm looking around like, does anyone have any idea how good I'm feeling throughout my whole body right now??? Only thing I miss about my old gym, is there isn't my hip thrust station😭 It was suggested for me to use a workout bench and weights, but I have nerve damage from my emergency C-section and literally can't walk for 3 days and miss work, can't take care of my daughter and disabled father. The hip thrust station supports my back, so I've never strained my back. Please can y'all invest in a hip thrust station.. PLEASE 🙏🏾 🥺🤞🏾

I have worked out here for years. I like the fitness center. One thing that has frustrated me is there are 7 tvs. Do two tvs right next to one another have to be on the same station? Last week one station was completely ads. Showing surgeries. I just want to watch Tv while I walk. I ask the attendant to change. And she told me corporate chooses channels. I can see the Chanel changers behind the desk. Please if you are going to have 7 channels put on different stations. It’s not that hard for the attendant to change the channel.

Update Dec 1, 2024: Even though they are aware they continue this practice. This review will remain until you end the bizarre practice of annoying and disrupting patrons by sounding the alarm for the last 5 minutes of the day continuously. FIX THE PROBLEM.

Of all the Planet Fitnesses I’ve been to this is the worst one. 10 minutes before closing one of the employees decides to blare the Lunk Alarm probably to make clients leave out of annoyance. Then they get upset when you ask if they're still using one they haven't been at for like 10 minutes. This location has new massage chairs. They recline and also offer an arm massage. Personally, I don't think they massage as hard as the old "coin" operated massage chairs other locations still have. The staff is great but the signing up charge is terrible, I had to pay $50 to sign up on top of the $11 and then two months later they took out $53 for annual fees, plus another $11, I have the basic membership. Nice, budget friendly, and affordable gym to work out at. It's not too crowded, even at peak times of the day. Easy to get in, get your workout in, and get out. A diverse population of members exercise there. The staff are pretty on top of things in regard to customer service. If you're a hard-core "Incredible Hulk" type, weight lifter, then this probably isn't the right exercise facility for you. Anything less than that, and you're good to go. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had a fantastic experience at the Emanuel Cleaver Planet Fitness location. The staff was exceptionally helpful and kind! Just got off the worst phone call with a staff member and I am SEETHING. The lack of professionalism, service language and customer service etiquette has me ready to cancel and never recommend this place to anyone. Long story short my personal banking info was NOT securely transferred - the staff member DID NOT APOLOGIZE - DID NOT OFFER A REFUND OR EVEN TO UPDATE. Passed the blame off to an employee I’m not even sure really works there and when he got tired of my questions told me he didn’t have time to sit on the phone when he had other things to do. Then when I asked to speak to management - he refused to even tell me their names or give me a direct number to leave a message.
When I asked about my banking info and why I wasn’t contacted by phone or email that it hadn’t been updated like I thought - HE HAD NO ANSWER. That staff member needs to retrained on how to handle billing calls and how to rectify billing issues. This location also needs to stress to their staff the importance of making sure when they are given sensitive financial info that they do their job and secure it in the system as well as disposal of said private sensitive info. It is ILLEGAL to not do so.
