I've been going here over the last 5 months or so. The staff is friendly.. if something breaks its usually fixed quickly. However this place could use a good ol scrub down & dusting. Floors mopped etc... compared to other pf i go to. This one is by far in the most need of a deep cleaning 100%.

Also on sunday Oct the 5th. There where alot of unhappy folks waiting outside of them gym. Doors locked no note. Didn't answer the phone. Alot of folks including myself either probably missed our workout that morning or had to reroute our schedule.

All in all I do prefer this location. Would like to see a deep clean and make sure there is a back up plan to be open when you're supposed to be.

I've been slowly and steadily cleaning the water fountains with my used paper towels from wiping down machines. If we all do a little at a time, I think we could have this place (that we pay money to go to) cleaned up in less than a month.

Edit 8/14/23: The response below is silly. I'd like a free membership if you want me to manage your employees and store. Hire someone to manage properly and/or pay more to get more out of your employees. Changed to 2/5 stars.

Edit 10/10/25: Reduced review to 1 star. This gym is a disgusting, dirty, poorly run, rarely repaired injury trap. Ownership is ripe for an injury lawsuit with numerous broken machines and nearly complete lack of general management. If there was a comparably cheap gym nearby I would switch in a heartbeat.

This place is RAGGEDY!!! They haven’t had air in 3 weeks. The floors, the machines and the windows are always dirty. Something is ALWAYS broken. The first desk is cluttered with unnecessary things, the paper towels are ALWAYS empty and often out of stock. Barry has been my home gym since 2022 and management has gone down hill tremendously. I’ve been to the Antioch, Parkville and Legends locations which made me realize the staff or management team does NOT care about the quality or cleanliness of this gym. It’s a sad reality because this gym is in a good location.

Changed my review to one star. The first day I was here the shower area was kinda dirty, didn't think much of it as they are 24 hr I figured the night shift would clean up. Next day shower is worse off then the day before, each time I come up here it's worse then the time before I'm talking hair in the drains, used bandaids, used qtips, razor cartridges on the floor and the list goes on. After a week of this I got tired of the uncleanliness I went to the front desk to complain. He proceeds to tell me that they only clean the bathrooms once a week!!🤮🤮 I am cancelling my membership yet again and demanding a refund. DO NOT recommend!!!

This used to be our home gym and I’ve stopped by a few times recently when in town on business and am very disappointed. The water fountains are constantly broken, the bathrooms are very dirty and have been neglected for a while. My wife and I have both noticed mold rings in the toilets, if that tells you how often they are cleaned. window has paper towels and trash laying on the ledge and the equipment is not being maintained. I’m not sure what has happened in the past year but it’s gone down hill.

We enjoy the Planet Fitness gym on North Oak Trafficway in Kansas City, but the current management isn't paying attention to several issues. We want to wipe down each piece of equipment after we use them, as the gym requests, but the paper machines are empty most of the time. The men's restroom has NO hand soap. One of the men's room hand dryers is broken. We've seen a downward spiral since the previous manager left. The young employees obviously have no supervision or training. Additional signage pertaining to wiping down the equipment is needed along with posted rules about time spent on a piece of equipment. Even when the gym isn't busy we find people sitting on machines staring at their phones for 20 plus minutes while other paying clients are expected to wait. This gym doesn't enforce any of the currently posted rules. When you come to a gym you should workout, wipe down the equipment that you just left and move on. A little common sense and respect for others can go a long way.

Got here at 4:45 this morning to workout as it says it is 24hr. Sat here until 5:30 and no one showed up to unlock the doors. Counted over 30 cars leave the parking lot and when I left there were over 20 cars still sitting and waiting to get in. Called and no answer. With traveling for work I use planet fitness all the time and have never had this happen in over 5 years. Do better KC planet fitness.

Staff ask costumers off machines, so they can abuse said machine. So when he breaks it don't worry, guess who will pay for it??? The customer! The staff here don't follow rules why should you? (Reply to reply: I reported, when I was there. They gave each thug hand shake and he went around to other machines to show off. Only rule the guy didn't break is being on a call on the floor. He even told his fellow co worker he didn't wanna put his bag up. This is his behavior and he goes around with a quite smaller guy always.)

Just read several of the reviews. Agree with all of them. What is also disturbing is that I see more and more people that feel like they don't have to wipe down equipment after using. Be nice if some reminder placards be posted accordingly. And don't ask me to talk to the manager-- I just gave you all the information you need to let them know.

It should be nice if they could keep the hydro massage chairs working. They are BROKE 90% of the time. So much for being a black card member!

Free high school memberships has absolutely killed this company. Horrible idea.. they sit on the machines- keep in mind only 4 benches in the entire building, scroll on their phones for 45 minutes.. no gym etiquette or real world etiquette.. I’m sure their parents are happy to have them out of the house. I’m not.

Would love an enforced time limit on the limited benches that are available for use.. the wait is prolonged while many superset along with the bench- alternating exercises… just no common courtesy. 20 min max would be enough.

This is the best one yet I have been to and I've been to a lot of them all over The USA! It's Black Member Spa area is very roomy with plenty of outlets & seats.
But what I'm most impressed with is that the changing stalls for showers has plug outlets in them,
Plus they have scales to weigh yourself with as well.
The only thing I do not like is that they have the coin operated massage chairs, which are not as good as the ones that are coin free.
If you've been in the others you'd know this, coinless chairs have way better settings! Also it'd be nice if they had a trash can in the corners of the BLack Card Member area as well.
I'm not complaining at all just making a suggestion.
Very pleased with this location, and will be using it for the rest of my stay in KC,
Oh and it's 24:hrs also. The ones where I've been in KC close by 10 & open at 6 or 7 AM.

Update 7/23/25 This place needs to do better with cleaning. Ive been coming here for a good lil bit now and they never clean the glass tables they have in the BC Members area.
I had staff clean a tabel i was using about a month ago & he still didnt clean it very well. And ive noticed the changing stall i use has had the same hair on the floor for a cpl of days now also.
Come on PF you need to do better possibly retrain the staff on how to clean. JS still like this lication. Its just we live in Satans World and he walks around in many lazy Hosts that like to do it as easy as possible in this world Satan's Mindset! The Gospel Warns Us About this.

Traveling through the area and just want to spend about an hour at the gym. I Jeremy tell them my number and they ring me in. I travel all over the country. I found this to work better than if I had it in my phone because we always had trouble with this. My concern is this gym was that she told me that they could not call my home Jim to confirm because of the franchises rules. They told me what other jams were in the same franchise. She told me that if they can verify me then in the gym could not verify me there within the franchise. I knew this wasn't true because I had been through one of the gyms of the same franchise. I've been there multiple times. Play it wasn't as convenient for this trip. And I called one that was close by and she said that she would call and verify with my home gym. She did that but by the time it all got cleared it's too late and it was time to move on because these gyms are not 24/7. I did end up another gym reportedly within the same franchise I want to share and they took my number in brought me up and show me my picture my profile because I requested to take a look at it. No I don't understand why the two young women at this gym here could not do it. Bet that really isn't what upset me. I never said a word I was really nice. I BELIEVE THIS LOCATION IS A HIGHLY JUDGMENTAL ZONE!!! Just before walking out, one of the young ladies at the front desk told another young lady who didn't have a card or something. Who's the woman behind the desk said don't worry about it I got you girl go on in the house with. Now they were all about the same age same protein is dressed about the same carry themselves with the same perkiness. Use whatever words you would like. I had a very difficult time trying to write this with you that day. So I come back and edit. I don't know if the desk is wired for sound recording but I'm pretty sure that the cameras will show what I've said. It looks like a nice location. But what use is it

This gym use to be a high quality location, but over the last year has fallen significantly, the staff can be found standing around chatting, playing in their phones, or anything but cleaning, the mirrors are gross the bathrooms look and smell like they haven’t seen a thorough use of chemicals in months, there is scum on every water touched surface in here so you know nothing gets wiped down, one toilet that works and it smells like a sewage vent backup and hasn’t been scrubbed.

I like Planet Fitness across the country. But this location needs work and a staff that takes pride. The staff seems lazy, constantly on their phone with a dirty facility. The cleaning bottles and towel rolls are sometimes empty which should never be. The management needs to be more attentive to their staff and ensure everything is getting done.

It's great for basic workout equipment. If you're looking for a personal trainer, this location (north oak) doesn't have one on staff and I was told they don't know when they will get one. I signed up for the black card membership because I wanted access to a personal trainer. They also don't have classes. So I will likely change to a gym that has more perks. The tanning, massage chairs and aqua massage are nice perks though (of the black card membership) and it's reasonably priced.

This location’s setup is terrible. There is a line of machines behind the treadmills and cardio equipment that are front facing with about a 5 foot gap from the treadmills. If you’re on a treadmill or stairclimber you literally have a line of guys sitting on machines just staring at the back of you the whole time. As a female, this feels very threatening and uncomfortable. I refuse to come back to this location until this is fixed. I do not want to feel like I’m being preyed on while working out.

From Dec 4th - Jan 1st, I went to this gym every day excluding Christmas because it was closed. I want to start by saying this is nowhere near the perfect gym, but for the price, the value is second to none. The staff is helpful, and I didn't have any complaints besides at times the paper towels around the gym weren't refilled. The equipment is good enough to do whatever you need to do, and I love how it's 24 hours during weekdays. In conclusion, it's not a perfect gym, but the value you receive is fantastic. That's why I give it 5 stars

I am a remote member and i have Black card. I tried to check in with front desk to put me on tanning bed but the light skin and black guy didn’t know how to do it because i am a remote member and they were unprofessional.
One of them was on his phone and the other one said i can’t do it and some lady walked in and they started chatting with her while I’m standing.

This location is pretty dirty compared to the “Tremont” location. Dust bunnies, hair, grossness in corners and under equipment. Maybe this is normal, and the Tremont location is superb. This location is quite large. I didn’t see any staff cleaning like at other locations. Just 5-6 employees hanging out at the front desk.

I like plant fitness because of being able to work out and enjoy the amenities. But the tanning beds are not in very good shape with cracked acrylic and week bulbs. Please look into doing maintenance of the beds or upgrade some of the worn out beds to highbred beds.

Equipment is pretty versatile and the staff is usually friendly. Lots of young people that work there and they seem to tend toward being introverted or less personable; but, no rude.

Most gym goer's here are also nice and courteous. Lots of "dude bros" eyeing you, but that's common at most gyms.
