Leaving a 1-star review because Planet Fitness demands you pay an extra month for services if you cancel your membership after the 10th day of the preceding month. In other words, they make you pay for an additional month if you want to cancel your membership after the 10th which I don't think is fair. Apparently it's somewhere in fine print in the contract they give you to sign, but seems kinda deceptive to sneak it in there. Corporate should change this policy to avoid bad reviews.

Changing a trainer wouldnt be a problem if you replaced them, but you have not done that. You took trainers away from anyone who works out in the morning and its wrong. I know, as a member, that we are overlooked and seen as worthless is frustrating. I pay my membership and with my membership I am allowed to use all resources available. Well, the manager decided to take all trainers away in the morning leaving us, who workout in the morning, without a trainer. I've booked the month of July with a morning trainer and today was told that we will no longer have a morning trainer because they want to move him to midday (with other trainers). How is this professional? Maybe they should have considered the schedules that were already booked. I don't get the opportunity to have a trainer, like my membership says I do, so why do I have to pay the same amount as others who get that opportunity? It's inconsiderate and frustrating. I called corporate and this was her response, "we have to do what's best for the buisness." Looks like I will need to look elsewhere if they feel like members, in the morning, aren't worth their time.

Toured it and tried it out for 1 day. It's a treadmill farm. At the time I toured it (years ago) they were offering free pizza every Thursday, making it the cheapest pizza buffet in town at $10/mo. Anything about the same volume as a sneeze will set off the lunk alarm which is the most asinine invention ever made. If you're serious about fitness, this isn't the place. Long term committal contract and too many rules. I won't say where, but the gym I've been going to only has a few rules and is 24 hours: clean your machines after use, don't leave kids unattended, and pick a gendered locker room and stick to it. Weights make noise. Lifting them might make you make noise. No one cares. Couldn't sleep one night and went to the other gym at 3 am and saw one other person there, so it's possible to go and not be judged if you're worried about that. As far as the judgment shtuff, I promise you that you'll get ridiculed more for not working out than you'll ever get ridiculed for being overweight and working out. I lost 60 lbs by getting serious and PF is not a serious gym for those with serious goals. It's just another long term commitment you'll make in which your wallet will be the only thing getting thinner. If you're strapped for cash and need a place to start, it might work for you if you keep to your goals. Want to deadlift 400 lbs? Go somewhere else.

I go every evening as my social hour. I know all the staff, we have good laughs , watched football tonight & I take treats . Love the elliptical, listen to 1980`s Journey . I feel I am in best shape @age 61 because of planet fitness

2024- now i am going on 67 1/2 & still follow at 7:16 pm. I check out / help the guys out to clean female restroom when they need me too . The evening staff is working all around to clean & help any one who has questions on equipment
2025 Now at 68- going stronger w help of evening staff & trainer Dalton. HE has been training me- the equipment out when most males are . P & I are proud to be welcomed w front staff after 7:pm/ we get laughs from them & I take treats to reward them for great work . I have most check -ins on evening shift. & yes I brag about it.

Not sure what the rules are but having a female clean the men's locker room while I and other men were changing and showering was odd. The staff at this location are top notch. Friendly and very skilled at engaging members at the front. Background, I have used PF gyms in over 3 states, I have only been 6 days in this branch and i cancelled the membership today. A person sitting on an arm curl machine and staring at the wall for almost 15 minutes , as everyone waits and then randomly raises voice asking if I was hovering ??? And starts staring at me for a good minute , then I ask if he has got a problem , then goes back to do whatever he was doing! Well to begin with I did not talk to this person at all ( all of sudden I get a lesson on being polite/ waiting patiently , which was unnecessary as I did not talk or make an eye contact with this person ) it’s not gym for all you can sit on a machine and talk to your buddies and scroll endless TikTok’s. Be mindful if you value your time find a better place to workout in peace. Well it’s definitely not a place me. I did let the person who was working there know about the incident at the time of cancellation but I bet things are not going to change Ofcourse. Good luck everyone !

I love this gym! It’s close to home, very affordable, has great equipment, I love its hours and availability, and the people who utilize its facilities hold their judgement and make it an awesome place to carry out a fitness journey at. I do have some major concerns though:

1. I workout at 830 as I get off of work at 8pm. Due to this, I workout near closing. In my experience, several times over the last several weeks, staff have prioritized the cleaning of the gym over allowing members to utilize the equipment they are paying for. For example: While training back, I was sitting on the floor conducting seated bicep cable curls, the Planet Fitness Staff Member saw that me and my partner were utilizing that area and sitting directly on the ground and decided to clean that area with a floor cleaning machine anyways. This is inconsiderate and honestly not safe. Working out on a wet and slippery surface could increase the possibility for injury. I wish that Planet Fitness staff would reserve daily cleaning tasks for after closing.

2. I am a larger guy, me and my partner lift a lot of weight and workout really hard. We don’t yell or grunt, we don’t wear “bro tanks” or carry water gallons or any of the “gym bro” things, but we do workout hard. Due to this I believe, several staff members treat us much different than other gym members, they don’t speak, we receive very dirty looks, and we feel very judged during our time at this Planet Fitness location.

I would like to reiterate I love this gym. It is close to my home and I really enjoy working out here and Im hopeful that with this review I can gain the attention of the right people so these issues can be resolved. I don’t mean to create waves but would rather have these issues be resolved so I can continue doing business here, and if not resolved, warn others of the experience I am having currently.

Nothing I don’t love about it…. I swore I would never go to a gym because I have really bad anxiety and being around a lot of people makes me feel anxious… But the options they have and how convenient everything is and how you don’t have to see a lot of people while you’re there makes it very comfortable to go into Planet Fitness and you don’t feel judged! I went from being totally Against gyms To going every single day having my spouse, get a membership also bringing my children with me to join us! The customer service on W. I absolutely will be coming back. The minute I walked in, I was welcomed by one of the workers, Jeweal, she was very kind and so helpful and she helped me navigate throughout the gym. Peter was also very helpful and encouraging at times. I did give this gym a four star, only because as I was walking out, I went up to the front desk to ask one of the employees some questions, at first she was on her phone and not acknowledging me, she was a shorter young lady and she gave me full attitude and wasn’t very helpful. Not sure of her name, but it made me a little concerned. Overall, if you are looking for somewhere to feel comfortable working out, I definitely recommend this place.

Four machines were lined up in a row. An employee was cleaning the first machine while I was using the second. Upon finishing with the second machine, I went to get a paper towel to clean it, but the employee signaled for me not to worry about it, indicating he would take care of it. Consequently, I moved on to use the third machine, and by that time, he had finished cleaning the first and went to clean the fourth. After I used the third machine, I assumed he would clean it as well, so I left. However, he called me back and scolded me for not cleaning the machines myself in front of entire gym. Just WOW.

PF facilities are in excellent condition with multiple locations. (Joplin is great too!)
