Oct 20, 2018 was the day I set as a goal to walk into Redemention Fitness. I was terrified to be vulnerable with anyone as I was extremely self conscience. The last seven months have been the hardest and most rewarding months I have had. Last weekend I joined my RF family as we conquered the extreme Tough Mudder 2019. You can do this! You can be better! You will do this! You will be better! Best decision I’ve ever made was to trust Mandy. She helped me believe in myself. She knew exactly what exercises to do to get the maximum results I needed to see progress and build self confidence to push harder. You will find every level of fitness at RF. You will find that positive vibe and fellow workout buddies to cheer you along and to support you. You can choose to have private workouts where you get exceptional one on one with Mandy or choose to join the group classes. I thought before walking into RF that I wanted to be an island and hidden away in the back room while I grunted and got all sweaty doing a jumping jack. It’s common as women to want to hide and feel insecure when you first take on the commitment to exercising. I won’t lie, there are many times that I still feel insecure about what I can’t do YET but I’ve come so far from where I was that I don’t want to stop. I want to see what I’m made of, what can I accomplish and how good can I feel. Mandy’s motto with me is: take my hand, I’ll lead, you follow until you can lead then she’ll follow. I’m a more positive person because I invested in myself as much as Mandy invested in me. It’s not just about the physical...it’s about the real, the emotional, the psychological and the OVERCOMING what you were afraid to start.

“It’s now or never…”
Those were the words I spoke to my husband on the way to Redemption the first time.
I’m an obese woman who found all this extra weight in 1996 when my youngest child was diagnosed with cancer. I have lost and gained the same 50 pounds over and over. I had already proven to myself I wasn’t getting healthy on my own. I won’t even disgust myself with saying out loud the amount of monies I have spent on “diets”, commercial gyms and their trainers.
I have friends and acquaintances that are overweight and or obese and still do a lot of the same activities as their lean friends and family. I’m not that girl. I have been fighting a rare cancer since 2012. Out of work since 2014. More tumors removed than I have fingers and toes to count.. I am on pain management for the nerve damage done by removing all these tumors. I have balance issues vision issues and on and on. Thanks to the big “C”. I am built at this point with a butt in front and back. Paint me all white and I could be the next marshmallow man on Ghostbusters. Joy. I was for the first time afraid I would soon be unable to take care of myself.
Stepping into Redemption felt more comfortable than home. At home there are expectations, judgements and things that demand your attention. Not at Redemption. There are no testosterone junkies or aerobic divas here. Mandy and her team strive to meet each individual right where they are. Then put together a plan to get you to your goals.
Picture it December 5th 2018, I’m in Redemption for my assessment. I am unable to do ONE sit up, push up, and superman was needed to get me in and out of the floor there was no way my body was lifting any of its appendages on its own to play like superman. All I could do was laugh. Mandy was so gracious. “I just have to know where we need to start” she says. “Kindergarten? Preschool? What do those workouts look like? I asked” She kept saying be patient with yourself. We will take it one level at a time. I had no clue what that meant but committed to 12 weeks to see where it got me….
4 weeks in I was down 21 pounds and 20 inches, 5 or 6 weeks in…”you need tighter clothes”…the trainers watch your muscle function in the exercises you are doing…they want you to get the most out of the exercise you can do. OK fine I bought clothes to wrap it all up like a burrito. 8 weeks no weight loss BUT More inches gone…building some muscle here…I can do 15 pushups and hold a “superman”…I now believe in miracles for me. I’m worth it!!! Even with some bumps in the road and missed workouts I came in to the end of my first 12 weeks down 41 pounds and over 40 inches gone. My aunt informed me that I no longer had a second butt just an apron.
What now….I’m looking to the next 40 pounds and 40 inches…No April Fools here…Mandy, her crew and I are going places…BUT I want to take some other peoples inches with mine too…Set up Suit up…If you don’t know your worth or need for “Redemption” start with Wikipedia and then meet me off 5th street

If you're seriously ready for change, this place is for you. If you're on the fence about stepping up the tempo, don't bother. Gary is hardcore and is always pushing you out of your comfort zone. His style is not for everybody. Be ready to commit to the work you gotta put in. This place is not for the faint of heart. If you're tired of being stuck in a rut, this place will launch you to the next level...but it starts and ends with you.
