My husband and I, both in our late 60’s, started training with Derek Speck about 4 months ago. We wanted to improve our mobility, stability and strength. He’s done a remarkable job incorporating functional movement and a balanced routine to get us in shape. I’m still uncoordinated but I’ve improved with Derek’s help. Everyone at this gym has been very welcoming and all age groups train here. Highly recommend this gym and Derek.

For those apprehensive about joining a gym, I can tell you, as someone who had zero gym experience and doesn't fit any of my own preconceived notions of what a gym person is, SSC is the best choice I've made for myself in years.

When reaching out to Dylan about personal training, he was not judgemental at all as I was fully transparent about where I was at and what I thought I was looking for. From there, I was paired with Bonnie for personal training, who has been nothing short of fantastic to work with. She's optimistic, pushes me when I need it, and makes adjustments as needed for me to get the most out of every session safely and confidently. It's been so fun to see my improvement week to week.

The gym itself isn't overwhelming and has plenty of quality equipment to meet every level of fitness. The community is kind and supportive, and there's no negative ego or attitude. It's a community pursuing what's possible to better themselves, and it's the highlight of my day to experience.

I want to share a few things about my experience with Springfield Strength and Conditioning (SSC) and specifically working with Derek Speck as personal trainer. I reached out to SSC in November of 2024 seeking 1:1 personal training. I had suffered a knee injury and was undergoing surgery in December. I am a football official and knew I needed to work with a professional after the knee injury and subsequent surgery to rebuild the strength in that leg as quickly as possible so I did not miss any of the following season.

They were quick to respond and I set up an appointment with Derek. He took the time to answer my questions and understand my knee injury and what all my surgery entailed. He reviewed information from my surgeon as well as read information on my injury on his own. He put together a plan that allowed me to begin working out regularly with no impact to the knee. As we progressed, he altered the workouts to increase the use of the muscles in the leg and range of motion in my knee.

Derek was easy to work with, knowledgeable, and there were days where I needed to move our appointment and he was always willing to find another date/time that worked. Within three months of my surgery, working with Derek, my knee was back to a very good place. I still have a lot of work to do to get to where I want to be and I am confident that I will be successful in being ready to officiate the next football season.

Another point of interest I would like to share is SSC is a great atmosphere for people who want to workout. You will recognize faces every time you go and everyone is focused on their workout. Anyone considering joining a gym for the first time or looking to make a change should take a look at SSC.

I have had nothing but an amazing & supportive experience. Dylan has been extremely patient with me as I grasp all of the work outs and meal plans. I can be really hard on myself but he’s great about reminding me to look at my wins and give grace. I’ve lost 12lbs, 2” on my waist, 2” on my hips, & 2” on my chest , in 6 weeks. At the beginning of December 2024, I went to SSC with a specific goal in mind. I wanted them to train me up so I could complete a Hyrox Race on February 2nd. Now you're probably thinking, what's the big deal. Well, that's a pretty tall order considering I'm 58 years old and weigh 245 pounds. Although I was not completely heading into this race from the couch, I was in no shape to complete a Hyrox. Enter my SSC trainer, Troy. On my first day of training, Troy ran me through a battery of tests to determine my current ability. I remember one of the test was doing a knee touch lunge. I had difficulty doing one. Hmmmmm, that's concerning because in a Hyrox Race, doing 100-meters of knee touch lunges is just one of the EIGHT movements you do to finish the race. Oh yeah, and when you do the knee touch lunge, you do so with a 45-pound sand bag on your shoulders. I'm positive Troy knew quickly he had a heavy lift on his hands. Regardless, at the end of the first workout Troy confidently said, "I'll get you in shape to get across the finish line. 100%." Fast forward 7 weeks and Troy lived up to his word. I completed the Las Vegas Hyrox in 2 hours and 3 minutes.

If you're looking for a great place to workout that is managed by professional of the highest level then SSC is the place for you.

I have been lifting at SSC for I think a little over 2 years now and it is an amazing gym. All of the coaches, Dylan, Dalyn, Troy, and Patrick are phenomenal coaches as well as incredible humans( sorry if I left anyone out ). This gym has a wide range of people from men and women who like to compete to others who are tying to live a healthier lifestyle. I started to get stronger and lose some fat but I continue to show up due to the overwhelmingly positive community that Dylan and Brittney foster.

From a training standpoint these guys and girls really know how to get you in shape. If you’re looking to make a change in your life this is the place for you regardless of the end goal. This gym has something for everyone.

Love, love love the experience here. I am absolutely NOT your typical weight lifting, workout queen. I am 78 years old and intend to stay in the best shape I can. My doctor suggested that I could benefit from a fitness program and I couldn’t be happier with SSC. For one thing, I never feel intimidated when I walk in there….there are all kinds of fitness levels at work…people trying to rehab, actual body building, all kinds of folks, but everyone is so pleasant and welcoming. I’ve never felt like an outsider or embarrassed at my abilities. I work with a personal trainer, which I think is very helpful. Dylan is terrific, but I’ve also worked with a few of the other trainers, and they are all excellent! I cannot say enough about what a pleasant environment it is! Go try it out! Springfield Strength and Conditioning (SSC) is easily the best gym in the city. It is reasonably priced and has a positive atmosphere. SSC has been my gym for 4 years and the community is amazing. It’s nice and clean, with lots of people serious about fitness.

SSC offers individual training and classes for kids and adults at different fitness levels. There’s a good mix of functional fitness and traditional training equipment with space for Olympic lifting too.

All the trainers are super nice and take an interest in you no matter what fitness level you’re at. I really like how they offer tips and tricks to get the most out of every workout. My children, who have special needs, have also been accommodated, and the staff was so patient and kind.

SSC also caters to local high school and college athletes, and people with accessibility needs. With 24-hour access, I’ve been able to meet and form relationships with all types of folks who come at different times.

If you’re in need of a gym, don’t hesitate to try SSC. You won’t be disappointed.

Derek has been great to work with as a trainer. The gym is very hot in the summer so I likely would not have returned except that Derek was welcoming, kind and supportive so I kept coming.
I’ve worked with him almost two months and was very surprised at what a difference in strength I’ve experienced in that timeframe. My son climbs at Zenith. I usually don’t climb with him because it was always too hard and therefore not enjoyable. He met the age requirements to top rope belay last weekend; I climbed for him so he could belay and I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it is now, on the same climbing grades I could barely do before.

For anyone interested in starting Olympic lifting, the Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting class offered by Dalyn Trippe was the perfect class for individuals with wide ranges of lifting experiences. Being a member at SSC has been an amazing experience for me. I first signed up because I started training with Jenn Crosby and joined as it financially made sense because it cost less to be a member than to pay drop in fees. And I’m so grateful I joined, the gym has literally anything you could need for workouts. If you’re intimidated by going to the gym and afraid of being around nothing but gym bros, don’t be! This place has people of all types and the environment is extremely welcoming and friendly. It’s also very safe and secure with a lot of security features and I’ve never felt scared to train there alone. This place is for people that are serious about fitness. There are a lot personal trainers here. The banners on the wall are for trainers. The staff are trainers. There are several people that are private contractor trainers that work out of the gym but arent employees of the gym. You don't need to have a trainer to work out here, I see several folks not using them. Everyone seems considerate of their gym mates and it's the same faces everytime I come in. A bunch of dedicated fitness junkies without any attitude that would turn you off to the gym. I would recommend

By far the best gym experience you can have. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. And listen when I first walked in I was intimidated and borderline scared. I felt very self conscious as to how I looked performing the workouts in front of others. Nobody laughed or made fun. Instead they helped and offered advice on how to perform better. I have been doing online training with Dylan Harris for about 7 months. I had been doing consistent weight lifting for about 18 mo with out much results so I reached out to Dylan. I have lost about 5% body fat and gained a lot of muscle and strength and lost about 16 pounds. The weight loss has not been fast but my body is transforming into the best body of my life. I am 56 years old and in best shape of my life. Dylan is aware that I am 56 and he customizes my work outs to me. However, he does not let me use my age as an excuse. The right gym helps you take control of your health, meet fitness goals, train for athletic events, recover from injuries, and socialize. Springfield Strength and Conditioning is a place exactly like that. I train about 5 – 6 times a week with consistently positive Coach Dalyn Trippe and awesome GYM participants who have created a perfect workout environment at SSC Weightlifting. In that time, I have gone from being new to the Olympic movements with zero experience to being strong and confident. My coach demonstrates patience in teaching the correct technique of the sport with a positive approach. By designing a customized program just for me, He helped me achieve heavy lifts with better technic while remaining injury-free. Coach Trippe prioritized asking how my body felt, then adjusted the lifts or added accessory work. As a result: Excellent personal training. Most independent small gyms have cool equipment and plenty of space to have a solid workout. SSC is that and significantly more. The overwhelming support members receive throughout their fitness endeavors and personal lives cannot be replaced or replicated.

SSC Weightlifting is a small yet vital piece to the puzzle. Let’s be honest, weightlifting is just damn fun to watch. From the outside looking in you get mesmerized by the pure athleticism of the sport. Over the years head coach Dalyn Trippe has spent countless hrs studying the sport in fine detail and continues to perfect his craft in high hopes to spread that knowledge to his athletes. Many adults and youth have substantially grown as individuals under his coaching and leadership.

The body can do amazing things and weightlifting is one of the purest depictions of that. SSC can be loud, explosive and comforting all at the same time. It’s a whole damn vibe. Don’t sleep on SSC.

I have been here for around 3.5 years. By far the most welcoming gym in Springfield. Banter, conversations, and friendships will be made here. Any questions you might have, can and will be answered by the coaches. 24/7 access makes it easy for anyone to get it in. Equipment is in great condition. If something is broken, it won’t be for long. SSC has a little bit of everything for everyone. Very happy that I was able to find this place.

At SSC the weightlifting program is really awesome for everyone starting off with Dalyn. Dalyn is probably one of the best coaches I’ve ever had because he has a side to him that can help you and be on you and hold you accountable. He also has a side where it makes you want to learn about him more as person than a coach. The weightlifting community at SSC is very welcoming to all people everyone who is in it is very nice. Like whenever I first joined it I thought wasn’t really going to fit in to it but everyone in the club really made me feel like it was a second home for me. And people can join and go at there own times for me I do Baseball for school and summer so I’m pretty busy during this time but dalyn and me have worked and we have a good schedule for me to work with during season. Anyone who might be deciding if they want to do it or not personally should do it if they don’t I feel like they would be missing out on a great opportunity to meet new people and be apart of a great community at SSC

Troy has been an excellent trainer over the last year I've been working with him. My husband and I joined SSC about a year ago. We have worked with each of the trainers for a session or two. We signed up for the online training but revived 2 in one coaching three weeks before switching to online.The coaching I have received is exceptional 🤩. The coaches are so caring and really know their stuff. Gyms can be so intimidating but Dylan and crew go out of their way to make this gym special. When I go now if I ever have a question, they are always willing to help. When I receive my workout if I need modifications, my trainer replies instantly and he is ALWAYS checking on me even though I’m online. Love this gym so much! I am a college-aged girl and had struggled to find a gym I felt comfortable at for so long! I have always enjoyed participating in work out classes, but I was in a rut and needed a change. I joined Springfield Strength & Conditioning in January of 2022 and attend the adult performance classes 3 days a week. The workouts are challenging and adaptable to all levels of fitness. Participants are given goals and progress is tracked from week to week. My husband recently joined the classes also, and he has started moving better and feeling healthier. If you are looking for organized classes and need a change in your workout routine, I highly recommend the adult performance classes at SSC!

I have now had both of my teenage boys working out at SSC and have been nothing but happy with the experience. They train clients the right way, focusing on doing the movements correctly first. Both my boys enjoy lifting there and they enjoy the coaches too, and have the results to go with it. I’ve been training here for about 3 months. The overall atmosphere of the gym is friendly, and there’s a quality selection of equipment mainly aimed at free weights.

There are multiple areas for different disciplines of fitness. There is an area for Crossfit, Olympic weightlifting, and classic weightlifting. With that being said, if you’re looking for a row of treadmills, you’re not going to find them here.

I’ve also signed up for personal training with my coach being Troy. Troy is extremely knowledgeable, always willing to help however he can, and is quite personable.

Gym administration is always looking for ways to improve their gym in different aspects. Automation of business processes, customer satisfaction, atmosphere, and so on. Don’t be afraid to stop in, talk with them, and see how they can help you with your fitness goals.

Side note: if the bay door is open, just come in that way 😉

I couldn’t recommend this place more. I’m a full time athlete and I own/run Dynasty Jiu Jitsu. I started with SSC to take over my conditioning for upcoming worlds and Pan American Championships and opens. Having competed since I was 5 in wrestling (I’m 31) i have never felt physically more prepared for an event before working with SSC. I made weight easier than I ever have before competing at one of the largest tournaments in Jiu jitsu. The attitude and culture of this gym is incredible and welcoming. I have been a member of the GYM for a while now and realize that I never left a review, so here we go:
Springfield Strength and Conditioning is a unique place. I’m not sure if this is the best decision and investments I ever made, but it is definitely one of them.
If you really want results, Dylan Harris is the person to talk to. He is a “jack of all trades” Dieting, Strength, Conditioning, Physical appearance no matter what you want to achieve and how you want to mold your body, he has all the answers and techniques to do it.
Dylan attracted and partner with one of the best fitness professionals in the area. Under one roof in Springfield Strength and Conditioning, you have SSC Weightlifting managed by Dalyn Trippe, who is one of the most energetic coaches, he can motivate anybody to exercise, or if your focus is on Powerlifting, you can do that too and work with Patrick and Abbee from Posten Fitness. Dr. Kaytlyn Wells from Beyond Recovery will take care of any aches and pains or any physical barriers you have with great expertise.
Between the sets, you can pet some of the fluffy mascots 🐕‍🦺 which are roaming in the gym.
