A friend introduced me to Sumits. I had never tried yoga, let alone hot yoga. After the first session, I thought I was going to die. I went there to get in shape physically, so I kept going. I've lost 90+lbs, and that's great.
Sumits is for everyone. It doesn't matter how much you can do. It matters you are there. Sumits has taught me to experience joy, happiness, and most of all gratitude.
Every day is a special day at Sumits. Do yourself a favor and go there once. Just don't forget to go back.

Took my two young nephews to this place for their first ever yoga class and Terri and Emily couldn't have been more helpful. The class was intense and great, but everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve taken two classes now and love it! Wish they had a few more “community classes”, I believe they are called where you can drop in for $10. Excited to return. Clean studio, nice and HOT.

They treated a friend of mine unfairly and nobody there was asked to sign a document like he was . Where if 1 person said anything bad or he was 1 minute early he could get kicked out after he had taken nearly 400 classes in which nobody was hurt in anyway shape or form . However a woman treated him very ignorantly and disrespectful. Pray for my friend Ron because this place treated him so bad . Furthermore the guy who got him to join Darwin Clark told Ron he told them to write the contract and to kick him out because Darwin was jealous and a covert narcissist. Why did he wait until now to write the review after being there for 6 years . To cover up his ignorance or try to plain and simple . He tried telling Ron who he could and couldn't open the door for and that was the moment Ron lost any respect he has for Darwin . They talked about Ron staying there too long when Darwin stays there way later than anybody that is not working there . The point is the contract is unfair, ignorant and he wants Ron kicked out for stuff everybody knows that Darwin does . This placereally reaches new heights of hypocrisy.

Melissa and Emily, the 2 owners, ARE BEYOND COMPASSIONATE, CARING, and they truly care about making Sumit’s Hot Yoga STL a safe & sacred place to practice hot yoga. Their passion overflows into their staff, and their business. I LOVE THE ENERGY when I walk through the front door 🙏🏼 Thank you Melissa and Emily for letting God’s grace overflow out of you and into our lives! You’re my yogi family forever!

Awesome studio and environment. I belong to another studio closer to home, but I always come back to Sumits on occasion because the atmosphere is unparralleled and the heat exceeds alot of other "hot" studios which provides an extra physical and MENTAL challange.

I love Sumits! It is HOT as hot yoga should be. They do a great job keeping the space consistent, as well as creating an environment that allows you to show up authentically wherever you are in your practice that day. Many of the instructors (and owners) also practice in class. Their passion runs through and though!

Sumits Hot Yoga has been life changing for me. I was a barre addict before trying out Hot yoga, however I was looking for a new challenge as I was not seeing great results from barre. What I have found in hot yoga is so much more. I’m a totally different person now than I was in September of 2020. I am much more calm and so much less reactive in any stressful situations. My back issues I previously had are Resolved and I am way more toned and stronger than I ever have been! I highly recommend Sumits, your life and workouts will never be the same.

I’ve attended a few yoga classes here and really enjoyed them. I love the low lighting, and it leaves me feeling great.

My only complaint is that it can be difficult to hear the instructors voice over the music.

My girl friends and I recently started hot yoga and we are all now hooked! Sumits is perfect for every level of experience. We are beginners and felt so at ease in the classes. It helps having an amazing instructor like Katy, too! She was the first person we had and I've come to her classes ever since. She makes everyone feel welcome and as though there is no judgement. The energy is amazing, and the class is fun yet challenging! I highly recommend Sumits to anyone interested in hot yoga! :)

Wow - I love this place! They are awesome. I've been doing yoga for decades but had never tried any heated yoga. Something forced me to change workout venues and I tried Sumits. I am SO glad I did!!! The workout is so good. Mentally & physically getting through the class because of the heat definitely adds another element to yoga that I've never experienced. Just be careful... it's seriously addictive but at least it's not a bad addiction to have. I'm so glad to be able to practice yoga at Sumits!!! - Things to know: 1. The flow is the same every class. If you are new to yoga this is good because then you can really get comfortable and know the class quicker since the poses are the same. If you are more experienced this is nice because you can really work on getting into the poses deeper & add variations when you'd like. 2. It's vinyasa flow with standing balances at the beginning of class. 3. Bring a yoga mat, yoga mat towel, and extra towel (for wiping off sweat).

Black People Who Hike

We typically hike on Sundays but when the weather doesn't cooperate we look for new and challenging indoor activities. Today was our 2nd time attending a hot yoga with Sumits and we brought 13 people with 9 first time hot yogis/yoginis! We strongly encourage trying new experiences/stepping out of our comfort zones and hot yoga was definitely one of those new experiences! The environment was great! It was very welcoming to all levels of yogis. The studio is a very large space that provided a great forum for our large group. Mats are only $2 to rent! The cold lavender towels are life savers at the end! Our Instructor Susan was great! She took the time to explain the poses in the beginning and went through the stretches a good pace. The entire experience was definitely that of a love hate relationship. We struggled, but none of us gave up and when it was all said and done we felt amazing! We highly recommend Sumits for hot yoga and will be returning! Oh and on Sundays you can bring a new friend for free!

Beware! I will never go back. I have done yoga regularly for years. I recently moved to STL from Arizona. I had a membership at Sumits yoga studio in AZ and enjoyed every class that I attended. My cousin and I decided to attend Sumits in Chesterfield today because I had been dying to get back into yoga and my cousin has never been to a yoga class.

I call the studio 2 hours before their March 11th 4pm class on Sunday just to be sure about new students sign up requirements. I was told to come at least 15 minutes before the class started. I live an hour away from Chesterfield per my GPS. I arrive at the studio at 3:25-3:30pm. Class starts at 4pm. It is 30 degrees and raining outside, the doors are locked. No worries, a guy from the class in session spots my cousin and I outside and open the door for us. He tells us a class is still in session so we sit our yoga mats down on the bench and cease conversation out of respect for the current class. This is where the story becomes disrespectful.

A white woman with dark brown hair comes from the back and sees my black cousin and I and instead of greeting us, she asks "who let you in"? We tell her a guy from the class and she goes behind the desk and does whatever she is doing. I'm thinking ok no worries, we'll just chill out in the lobby until the class starts. Next thing I know, another white woman with deep burgundy-red hair comes from the back and says "are you waiting for someone?", she doesn't even care to greet us nor ask if she can help us with something. After I tell her we are waiting for the 4pm class, she says "we don't open for another 10 minutes" Seriously? My cousin and I never approached the front bench to register for our class because the last woman seemed apprehensive and we also knew a current class was in and figured we'd have to wait in the lobby anyway. She says "who let you in", I tell her the same thing I told the last lady that "someone from the other class" let us in. She says in a very dismissive manner "well we don't open for another 10 minutes, we're not ready". I replied and told her "it's not my fault that we are in here, someone let us in". She didn't care, she again replied with "we're not open for another ten minutes". My cousin and I took that as a sign that she wanted us to leave and stand out in the 30 degree wet cold when there were two warm benches in the lobby we could have sat on. We gathered our belongings and went outside, and as we were gathering our things and walking out, this same white woman with burgundy hair could care less to say "you can wait here and we'll be with you in ten minutes". No, she let us go outside into the cold. We eventually decided to leave because their attitudes and energy was off. There was also another shorter white woman with blonde hair that did not care to interject on our behalf and invite us to sit inside nor say hello to us. I will never patronize an establishment that treats me like trash. I'm not saying they treated us this way simply because we are black but what I am saying is that I do know what discrimination, racism, and maltreatment feels like and the only difference between them and my cousin and I was our skin color. So what was the excuse for treating potential new customers like trash especially when they drove an hour away to patronize your establishment?

I have attended Sumits in Arizona and they have NEVER asked me to wait outside regardless of how early I arrived. I don't understand what she meant by "we're not ready". What exactly do you have to do besides clean the floor and say bye to everyone.

I will never attend this Sumits, nor any other Sumits. It's 2018, I am done giving business to establishments that cannot even be bothered to offer a proper greeting like "Hi" to new people walking in the door.

Last thing, if you are going to be a yoga teacher, work at a yoga studio or own a yoga studio perhaps at the very least you can actually use the principles of yoga in your interactions with people or just be a decent human being.

Ran into the studio last second before a class and the lady at the front counter (Melissa I believe) was so inviting. She fit me into the class and made me feel welcome and comfortable. She ended up being the instructor for that class.
Being only my second time doing hot yoga I was definitely struggling half way through. I almost felt like I was going to pass out and she came over and put an ice cold towel on my neck...that was a LIFE SAVER! I felt so much better after she did that and at no point did I feel uncomfortable sitting out some of the class to catch my breath. I have attended another studio in chesterfield in the past and felt so uncomfortable there and pushed myself way to hard which is probably why i didn't return and use the rest of my classes. I will definitely be going back the Sumits for the main reason of comfort! It also was VERY clean and didn't stink of sweat! It smelled like essential oils and in the bathroom they had many toiletries in case you forgot something. This place went way above my expectations and I cannot wait to go back!

I've never had a workout I crave until now. Always feeling welcomed even when new and unsure. Had not worked out for years, not been a yogi but found I could follow and enjoy the routine. It seems the stronger I become, each pose brings new challenges and works every muscle in the body. My arms have gone from puffed to defined!! I LOVE the music!!! Each instructor brings their own unique energy and spirit to each class. All body types and levels. So often hear that someone has driven from the Hill or Washington, MO just for this Studio. Thank you for being less than ten minutes from home!!

I first discovered Sumits Hot Yoga in Springfield, MO about 5 years ago. Since then I have moved away from Springfield, lived abroad, and became certified to teach Ashtanga and modified Ashtanga. I now live about an hour away from Sumits Hot Yoga Saint Louis and I sometimes can't help myself from making the trek out to Chesterfield for a Sumits class. For hot yoga, I have tried Hot Yoga Saint Louis, Bikram, a studio in Edwardsville, IL and Pure Hot Yoga in Springfield MO and I can honestly say nothing compares to Sumits. Though I became an instructor certified in a different branch, I can honestly credit Sumits with igniting a passion for yoga in me. The class can be extremely tough, but it is taught in a gentle and loving way that encourages practitioners to love themselves and listen to their own bodies. The poses in the class build balanced strength and flexibility in the body, targeting all areas, and builds balance as well as mental and emotional control. Sumits is by far the best hot yoga studio in Saint Louis. I only wish I lived closer to it so I could go more often. :)

I was TERRIFIED of trying Hot Yoga, but completely intrigued at why people RAVE about it. So, I took the plunge this week and OMG it was fantastic...hard, relaxing, and empowering all at the same time. The instructors here are simply phenomenal...kind, welcoming, completely motivating and encouraging. Sumits St. Louis is super clean (a non-negotiable to me), great location, the decor is fabulous, and I felt at home the moment I walked through the door. If I can do this as a VERY beginner with asthma, so can you!!! I'm still nervous and a bit self-conscious (100% self-inflicted, trust me!), but as soon as I begin with the 1st few poses that all goes away. By the end of class, I feel peaceful, strong, and happy. It is a "can do" for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels...if you are even thinking about giving them a try, I say DO IT! You won't be sorry :)
