Tessa is the best! This review is LONG OVERDUE. I came in with a lot of pain in my neck from lifting a super heavy plant. For two years it flared up weekly and caused me so much discomfort. Doctors didn't help so I figured, I probably need to gain muscle because I have no strength. My goal was to be able to lift a suitcase over my head on the plane without help or pain. I have met that goal a few times!! Also, as someone who was never very athletic it has been great to see more muscle tone and improvements in my health overall. Tessa is genuine, thoughtful, positive and has always made me feel comfortable. She took someone who never worked out a day in her life and made her into someone who looks forward to my workouts during the week.

I was looking to try personal training in order to tone up before my wedding later this year, and Tessa Pierce was recommended to me. As someone who's chronically clumsy and unathletic (theater kids, unite!), I often feel uncomfortable in a gym environment. Thankfully, I'm happy to say that Tessa and her LGBTQ+-friendly training space are safe, inclusive, and inviting. Tessa does her best to work with my busy schedule. She never judges me or makes me feel guilty. There's absolutely NO body-shaming; weighing, measurements, and calorie-counting are NOT a part of the conversation when talking about personal fitness goals. Tessa is great. Sometimes after a session, I wonder which made me more sore: the workout, or laughing with Tessa? She's a friend and a safe space. I highly recommend her services!

I moved to KC from Boston earlier this year, and finding a new trainer was priority #1. I researched and called around extensively to assess training philosophy, personal fit, and training setting, & and Tessa was far and away the best.
Tessa listened to my training goals and developed a challenging and dynamic program. We do (minimum) 2x weekly, and each session is a full-body work-out incorporating complex movements designed to develop & improve my mobility, core strength, and flexibility. These are my goals as a 35-year-old desk jockey, but I know Tessa is equally well-equipped to push those looking for bulkier, competition lifting programs as well.
In addition to her technical expertise & great personal fit, Tessa has also become a bit of a confidante. True health is not just a beach bod - we discuss nutrition, sleep hygiene, work patterns & stressors, energy, and mood in addition to proper squat technique.
I also have to say I LOVE the private space. I am - typically - the only person training during my sessions, which eliminates all of the gym-going hang-ups I have as a former "fat kid." The space is well-equipped and has very positive energy.
Tessa has also been (overly) accommodating of my erratic work & personal travel schedule, even doing virtual sessions with me as a last resort.
My final - and perhaps strongest - bit of praise: despite her age, Tessa has the Spotify library of an X-ennial, which 1) leads to awesome playlists for our sessions and 2) is hilarious.
I am so grateful Tessa agreed to take me on as a client & look forward to working with her for (at least!) as long as I'm here in KC.

Iβve been training with Tessa for over 2 years. It started with me being overwhelmed back at a gym after years of not lifting. Sheβs helped me through my bad form and has continued to adapt to all of my goals. Never judgmental and always encouraging. Plays great music, too! Highly recommend her to anyone- just getting started or a practiced athlete.

I cannot recommend training with Tessa enough. She's knowledgeable and gives clear, consice feedback. What makes her so beneficial to work with, for me, is her ability to adapt training to meet me where I am with my health. After one month of training with her, there is a notable difference to my strength and overall appearance. You'd be hard pressed finding a better trainer to work with π
