About the Club

The Grind has over 5,000 square feet of space designated for strength training and access to over 40,000 square feet of turf space. We specialize in sports performance training for athletes of all ages, as well as individuals looking to improve their health and wellness!

Our Services include 1 on 1 Personal Training, Semi-Private Training, Small Group, Team and Online Training. We also offer Grind Athlete and Youth Grind Athlete as well as Football Skills sessions.

Our mission is to help everyone reach their athletic and/or fitness goals using a holistic approach to training. We have created an environment that not only pushes you physically, but is also designed to build you up mentally! We are inclusive to all!

I can’t say enough great things about Chico and his gym! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, motivating, and positive. Chico is not only extremely knowledgeable about fitness and proper form, but he also knows how to push you just the right amount to help you reach your goals without ever feeling intimidated.

What sets him apart is his personalized approach—he really listens, understands your strengths and limitations, and creates workouts tailored to your needs. Every session feels purposeful and challenging, and I’ve seen real results both physically and mentally since training here.

Great, friendly and welcoming gym! I’ve been working with my personal trainer (shoutout Christiana!) since January and it has been great! On my first visit we discussed my goals and did a physical assessment to determine a baseline for me. Since then, I’ve seen my strength and endurance improve and am excited to continue working with her! We make reasonable accommodations to certain movements as needed, so don’t be afraid if you think you could hurt yourself - they’ll work with you to make sure you’re doing things safely. All the staff are very friendly, it’s a clean and kept facility, and is very reasonably priced compared to other personal training providers in the greater STL area in my opinion. I highly recommend!

If you’re serious about becoming a better athlete you have to check out The Grind. Chico and his staff of trainers are top notch and so is the facility. My son has worked with them for almost two years and his speed, strength, vertical and quickness have consistently and dramatically increased in that time. As a local high school coach I have seen first hand several area athletes take their performance to another level through their training. If you’re looking for a great place to workout you’ve found it. The grind is the best place to workout in STL, from first time gym goers to professional athletes. They have the best equipment and the best trainers! They have two turf fields around 60 yards each, and they have ample free weights. Every trainer is phenomenal and they make sure you get a good quality work in while you’re there. They work with your schedule and make sure they get you in no matter what.

I’ve been training for almost 5 months with Dean. Though it took a minute to mesh our personalities, it’s the best decision I have made in a long time. I am 58 yrs old and have fought with a form of Muscular Dystrophy since I was 20(you do the math). I became very aware that Dean was NOT going to pity me like others or let alone coddle me. He believed in me from day one. He pushes me into doing things I couldn’t do in years. We have a ways to go but with all the physical therapy I have done over the years Dean blows them out of the water. All I can say is try The Grind….. what do you have to lose except fat, anxiety, and self doubt 🤷🏻‍♀️

My 11 year old son started working out at The Grind a year ago. He plays football and soccer and has greatly improved his strength and conditioning. He has also increased his speed in the sports he plays. I highly recommend The Grind for youth fitness as it will help improve performance for any type of sport played. The 3 of us have different fitness needs and goals and the trainers are all experienced pros - they ask intelligent questions and create workouts to fit our individual needs. I appreciate that they are friendly but also serious. One of my sons works specifically with Jaylen and totally digs him! I work with Jacy and she is fantastic! My youngest son has worked with nearly all the trainers and has good things to say about each of them.

As a former athlete I tried to stay in shape on my own, well that didnt work so well as I lost motivation and I was at my heaviest these few years. I went in to the Grind to meet with Chico & Jacy for an evaluation. I started my one on one training with Jacy once a week in June and man, she keeps me motivated for trusting in the process, each and every week I look forward to my weekly sessions with her. She not only pushes me and motivates me to my best, she is also a good teacher and brakes down all the movements for me so I dont hurt my body. I have had numerous surgeries in my past and was always told my muscles probably wont get back to ware they were before, to say the truth i probably have more range of motion now than I have had in the past 8years. I truly do appreciate everything she does for me and shows me she is great and also is very down to earth and has a great personality. Jacy along with all the other Grind employees all welcome you with open arms and there is never dull moment. Such a fun & relaxed environment.

I can't say enough good things about The Grind. I have been a client there for a little over three years and joining the grind has been one of the best decisions of my life. I started off with one-on-one training with Joe shortly after moving back to STL. I was an athlete all through school and played 4 years of collegiate volleyball, but never really had any experience in a gym or strength training. After moving home I was looking at ways to get back to being active, and the grind was perfect. Joe is a great trainer and extremely knowledgeable. I have had on and off injuries from playing so many years and he is great at working with me and correcting my form to prevent any more injuries. All of the trainers and staff at the grind are all so personable and really care about all their clients. I used to hate the idea of working out but now I look forward to going to The Grind everyday. It has become a perfect stress relief and a home away from home. I never thought when I joined I would get to where I am now in my fitness journey lifting as heavy as I can. Joe and all the trainers will push you to be your absolute best even through my complaining in the middle of a hard exercise. I recently started attending the small group classes on top of the one-on-one training and the experience has been great. Even in the group setting all the trainers are great about working with everyone and all the clients in the class push each other to be our best. It is such a great atmosphere anytime I walk in the gym. I could not recommend joining The Grind more, it really is one of the best gyms out there.

The Grind is wonderful!!! I am really enjoying all my workouts there and it has been a great experience from day 1!!!! On my first day I was greeted at the door by Ashely, who is super-friendly and was very welcoming. She showed me around and then I met with Dean, who discussed my goals with me and did an evaluation of where I was physically/how in shape I was (or actually wasn't). Dean is great! Felt very comfortable with him. He was laid back, professional and I felt that he really listened to what I was looking for in a workout, my goals and was very understanding of limitations I had regarding a past injury. Dean assigned me to my current trainer, Nick. I cannot say enough about how awesome Nick is!!!!!!!!! I love working out with Nick. He is friendly, personable, skilled, knowledgeable, professional and gives a great workout. There has been so much variety in my workouts. I am getting great results. Truly feeling much better since working out there. So happy with my results and how much more in shape and fit and strong I feel since working out at the Grind. Nick is also very understanding and respectful of my past injury and we don't do anything that bothers it. I very much appreciate that. I really enjoy working out with NIck. He is the best!!!!! The Grind also offers small group classes. I have taken those a couple times, taught by Joe, and he is just as awesome as Dean and Nick! Even though it is a group setting, if you have a question or need help, he is right there, so willing to help, or offer modifications if a move is too difficult. I would attend Joe's classes more often, but the timing does not always work out for me. Everyone at the Grind is so great! There is a very chill, laid back, vibe at the Grind. The trainers know what they are doing, and they care about their clients' goals and workouts, but they do it in a way that is not intimidating or feels too serious. I love The Grind! This place is amazing. Both of my daughters have worked with them. My youngest daughter went to them to better her basketball skills and strengthening. They discovered that when she went through PT for when she broke her ankle something wasn't right because she was running weird. They were amazing at getting everything working right with her ankle. My oldest daughter still working with them. She got injured her hip and thigh muscles in track in the spring of 21. After going through PT which didn't help her at all. They were able to get the injured area working right again along with working on getting her speed back up if not faster along with getting stronger so she has less of a chance of a re-injury in her track season coming up. Everyone there is great. If you have questions about anything everyone there is always willing to help answer. My daughters and I are very happy I stumbled upon them.

I'm an active 74 yr old man who had fallen out of shape. I started back riding my bike during COVID in 2020 but needed to strengthen my core and upper body. 10 years ago, I did CrossFit for several years until I tore my meniscus. I used a personal trainer at the South County YMCA for several years in 2001 and 2002. I like The Grind's approach. They assigned me to Jason Rothweiler, who did an evaluation to determine my capabilities and limitations. It was thorough. I've had several injuries over the years that I have to be careful about and Jason has done an excellent job of designing my program to accommodate for these injuries and limitations. I'm almost two months into my program and I'm already seeing the benefits. Jason has been very professional and has displayed his extensive knowledge of the body and exercises. He emphasizes form and technique and has a keen sense as to what my body can and can't do. He is very enthusiastic and focused on guiding my improvement. I highly recommend Jason and The Grind if you are looking to improve your overall physical and mental health!

I started working out at The Grind about a year ago. I was finishing up rehab on my second shoulder replacement surgery. I presented Chico with quite the challenge as I have also had a hip replacement and deal with chronic arthritis. My goal was to regain the strength after my surgery and to build strength and flexibility so I could get back to my active life. I have been going to the grind just a little over 8 months now. The first 4 and a half months was team training with crossfire working with Joe on the weekdays and Brittany on the weekends. During that time it was fun all around and even being in a group setting you could always get the right help to get better. After team training, I continued doing one on one training with Joe for volleyball and I have been doing that for about 3 and a half months. I have seen great progress in my skill level and overall health. I highly recommend The Grind. The space and atmosphere they create is very welcoming. The workouts are personalized so that you can work to the best of your abilities. I feel like if there’s something specific I want to work on Joe would get me there and help me in every way he can. I used to be a Gold’s Gym and Club fitness gal.

Once gold’s gym closed it’s doors for good I was looking for a new place to meet my fitness goals and to fight the “Covid 15Lb.”
My friend’s introduced me to The Grind Fitness. And am I so glad they did!
I attend their Small group classes about 3-5 days a week.
The quality of my workouts are 100x better then I received at Club fitness or Gold’s gym group classes.
The trainers are very alert and always make sure everyone has proper form as to not cause injuries.
I myself have a bum shoulder and horrible tendinitis in both of my hands/wrists. And the trainers are always coming up with creative alternatives for me so I can keep up with my class!

I do the online personal training with Dean and I couldn't be happier. I was particularly impressed with the time he took at the beginning of my program to understand any injuries I had or limitations, as well as my training goals. Dean has an incredible knowledge of strength training and it seems like an infinite mental library of exercise variations. If I ever need to swap out exercises because of a lack of equipment, he has an equivalent movement ready to go. My daughter's 12U softball team and the coaches (myself included) did a 14 week program. We opened it up to siblings as well and had a total of 18 people. It was awesome. Couldn't have been happier. Next year, I'm extending it by at least 4 weeks. It was a great workout but it was done safely and in a way that didn't risk injury to the girls. The trainers are great. A couple months ago I started training with Joe from The Grind Fitness. Joe has helped me a lot, and taught me how to be strong and how to be mentally prepared and strong. I started the grind being barley able to lift decent weight. A couple months later and I can lift decent weight and I can lift heavier weight. He has also helped me with football. The Grind has the most friendly staff ever! I walked in for the first time and I felt that I had been there for over a month! The trainers work hard for you to make sure that your progress is their main priority and not to mention the facility is perfect for athletes. The training here is amazing. Many of the trainers used to be high level athletes like , Joe Lasky, Brittany Krodinger, and Chico Orlando. They have high quality equipment and an awesome schedule. Each day of the week focuses on a different set of muscle groups like Tuesdays might be a upper pull lower push, Wednesday a full body conditioning burn out, and then Thursday a upper push lower pull. I also love that they include a recovery day where you stretch and prepare for your muscles to recover and rebuild. I trained at The Grind for about 10 months with Joe Lasky. Joe helped me meet my fitness goals for my wedding and in the first 3 months I lost almost 20 pounds.

Joe was great and communicated well. He helped me with diet/nutrition advice and with plans for home exercises to continue what we worked on in the gym as well as working on areas I had injured to get them back to full strength.

I play hockey and Joe took that into account and had a plan around building areas of strength that helped my skating and balance.

My daughter started at The Grind in April of this year after having surgery on her knee for a lateral meniscus tear. It has been absolutely the best for her overall strength and conditioning. Before she started, her quads and muscle tone had diminished from not being able to play sports for 8 months and her knee was tight when walking. From day one Chico (and Dean & Brittany) not only did great workouts and conditioning with her but also spoke to her about what they were going to be doing with her workout wise, why they were doing these workouts, what muscles they wanted to hit, and what to expect. Chico has worked around her heavy softball travel schedule, practice schedule, batting schedule, and pitching schedule and has made things work every time. Its been nothing short of an amazing experience since becoming a part of the The Grind Fitness. My daughter started working out at the Grind a year ago with her best friend just to get in shape for softball. She had been dealing with a shoulder injury for years that would come and go. When Dean found out about this injury he personally worked with her physical therapist to keep her therapy continuous, and it helped tremendously. After insurance quit paying for PT, she continued 2 - 3 days a week with the Grind and within 2 weeks she was finally pain free. The staff is great. They are all athletes and former athletes that understand what it takes to be the best player you can be. I watch and see my son spending a lot of time working on the small things that I feel most trainers overlook. They start by performing a physical assessment of the athlete by running the athlete through a variety of physical tests to determine what areas need the most work. My son was weak in balance drills that involve a lot of ankle strength and stability. We didn't even know that this was an area that needed work. They began working on his weaknesses day one. I have no doubt that The Grind is the best place for him.

Our daughter competes in a niche sport where off ice training is critical. She had struggled with finding a local trainer. After meeting Chico through friends, she couldn’t wait for him to set up shop at The Dome and hasn’t looked back! I’ve been working out with Chico for a about a month now. I’m absolutely loving the way I feel other than being sore, but that means we’ve been working! Chico understands that I came from not knowing anything other than cardio so he paciently explains and builds me up as weeks go on. I have worked out with my chico for the past year and he is the best there is. Not only does he motivate you to be healthy and more fit bit also motivates you to be a better person all around. I have only known dean for about a year but he is the same, always giving good advice and helping everyone in every way he can. I also did the weight loss challenge and the workouts and motivation from that was great. The grind to me is more like one team of people trying to help everyone around them be better. This place is a most go to if u are ready to live life to the fullest!!! The Grind is a great place to workout!!! But honestly I have to say the thing that makes the Grind the best place is the trainers, Chico Orlando and Dean Bryan are amazing! Last year I found out I was pregnant and was so afraid bc I was already super over weight! So I tried my best and luckily my perfect baby boy and I were healthy the whole time. But 2 months ago I was so out of shape and gained more weight then when I was pregnant. I knew something had to change. Luckily I found Chico and the Grind. He knew and understood just how badly out of shape I was. so he started me slow and just in these 2 months my life is already changing. I'm down 22 pounds and I can move. so all I can say is if I can do it so can anyone. I could have never done it with out the grind and a special thanks to chico!

Dean Bryan goes above and beyond in the interest of his clients. He has a superior background in his knowledge of personal training and athletic training and knows how to work with individuals according to their needs. He works very well with athletes and has personally helped me improved more in my physical capabilities and even mental challenges than I ever could on my own. I will be headed into my 3rd month at The Grind tomorrow. I could not be happier with my progress. As a busy husband and father of 7 children, Chico Orlando and Dean Bryan have worked within my capabilities and brought me around to the point where I am extremly excited to see where the next block of training takes us. It is great to aww the scale going down, to feel flexible, to not ache, and to actually feel strong again. I cannot thank them enough for the very personalized attention that they provide during our short 1 hour sessions. They help hold me accountable to not only getting the work in, but to insure that the work gets done the proper way. I could not recommend them any higher. Go see them and get your Grind on!!
