Oldest son is a member and wanted to bring younger brother to work out. Parents must sign a waiver for minors. Oldest son who has membership "Everyone else can bring guests, not you". After driving to the gym and taking time to get this set up for family health and bonding time.
No waiver signed.
No offer to try the place out.
No attempts to sell a membership. Your pass is ineligible for guests. Very poor customer service wouldn't even make eye contact with you. I felt unwelcome and let down as a potential customer. After reading the reviews, my credit card is safe and I dodged drama and double charges.Thank you to the others who have left reviews and details about what happens after you get past the scanner.

Was in town for work for several days and was able to purchase a 3 day pass to work out. The gym checked all boxes and served my needs. The staff were polite, answered all my questions, and gave me a tour when I signed up. Locker room was clean as well as the workout facility and equipment. I even ran into a college fraternity brother who I had not seen in over 20 years. Will definitely go back next time I’m in town for work.

This gym is great. I come here from out of state maybe 6x a month. However, there used to be a yoga studio that was private, not packed, and cleaner than the other room that provides fitness training gear. I got this membership to maintain a protocol I need to do for daily activities due to an ongoing injury. This morning, I asked the woman at the front desk why the yoga room has been locked off lately. She gave me a reply that made total sense, and was kind and assertive with her reasoning. I told her that I didn’t like to use the other room, because people have stepped very close to my head and yoga mat while I’m stretching and doing physical therapy exercises on the floor. She completely understood, but there was nothing she could do to open the other room, which was fine. What wasn’t fine was, the worker who is assigned cleaning responsibilities, came right over to the corner of where I was stretching, and was spot cleaning the wall-mirror. The floor in this room is absolutely disgusting, so I’m unsure why he was focused on the mirror, (which he did an awful job cleaning btw) when I was directly in front of it. His spot cleaning in my immediate vicinity caused dust and debris from the neglected floor to be kicked up, causing me breathing issues. It also was simply off putting and weird that he wanted to do that so close to where I was exercising. Per my protocol, when I went in the sauna, I spoke with a fellow gym goer of the matter, in which he replied that this same individual has neglected other duties- such as wringing the mop out when cleaning the locker room floor. He said this caused an older gentleman to fall down, because there was so much water on the floor. Thankfully the older gentleman was fine, but it’s still very concerning that this individual maintains employment- while completely neglecting his responsibilities. He also told me of times where this individual has discarded people’s personal items while they’ve been in the sauna. While we were in the sauna, this individual sprayed chemicals all over the shower area floor, and on the doors, but made no effort to mop or wipe down what he sprayed. I brought the matter to the attention of the two employees at the front desk on my way out, and asked if this individual may have some form of mental disability or mental illness. They replied that during their three years of employment there, this individual has said maybe two or three words total during his employment there. They were absolute studs about the matter of this neglectful individual, and didn’t understand how or why he still works there. So, I’m assuming that he may be family of the owners, to which this review is intended to reach. The gym’s cleanliness is 0/5 stars, but the machines, other staff members, and locker facilities are great. However, if this individual isn’t assigned a different task or outright removed, I will be seeking a different gym to spend $50/month at for only attending less than 7x/ month. Please remove this individual from employment, because it’s negatively impacting this location as a whole. I understand if he has disabilities, but his said disabilities affect his actual ability to do his job. There are plenty of vocations in other industries that he might be able to perform the tasks assigned him. Thank you.

Switched here from club fitness bc they closed for flooding, and i was too impatient to wait for reopening. Highly impressed for the price and size. Lots of equipment and options are available. I haven't found myself wishing they had xyz equipment, which is good. It's very spacious for a smaller gym than im used to. The only complaint I have is that the equipment is dirty, almost always. Every barbell, dumbell, seat, etc. Cleanliness is very important to me as a lowkey germiphobe. I think theres a few factors going into the issue tho: 1st Xist doesn't have the best quality of wipes to wipe down after you are done. 2nd I dont think the rule is enforced very well so ppl forget, and 3rd being that the target audience, intended or not, is mostly teenagers, I dont think the teens prioritize wiping equipment down either. I've loved my experience here so far and I plan to keep returning, but i really wish the "WIPE YOUR EQUIPMENT DOWN AFTER YOU USE IT" rule was consistently enforced. If anything, i recommend bringing your own towel and sanitary spray in your gym bag if you are like myself.

The positives of this gym is the staff is kind, polite, and friendly. The staff is always willing to help. The equipment is in good clean condition. Close to home is very convenient.
But I find to be troubling is too many people sit on the workout benches/Machines and play on their phones. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the staff enforces any type of cell phone free policy while using the equipment.I literally saw a woman sit on a workout bench and play Candy crush or something similar in nature for about 10 minutes in between each set. Over the past five years this gym has increased in
usage. It’s become more crowded and limited on machine and bench availability. They probably need to expand the space and add more equipment

They wonnt let me cancel my membership, unless I come into the store or mail them a written request to quit the gym .... I've never seen a more predatory company ..... they said if I were to cancel my CC they would send the bill to collections .... never sign up for this company's membership you will regret it when you inevitably quit because of shitty gym equipment and their predatory business practices

Knowledgeable & friendly staff, a lot of equipment (multiple of same machine) in case someone is on the one you want at the moment.
Lots of tanning beds, red light therapy, spa beds (YAZZZ!)
They also have the 360 scan if that’s your thing.

This fitness center is extremely shady. The management team and employees are incompetent and rude. The young women at the front desk had an attitude with my wife and I over concerns of being charged when we shouldn't have been. Canceling the membership was a pain, and I lost so much money. The manager was no help at all very incompetent people to have to deal with. The employee responsible for responding to criticism doesn't seem to acknowledge any negative reviews which shows lack of accountability and flaws in the company. Settling negative experiences with customers when it is your fault as an employee and a company should be number 1 concern for running a good business. Everyone I know has been told of the bad experiences and word does travel around very quickly and your reputation as a company and employee's is terrible.

This gym stole money from my family and I. Over 60 dollars of money was stolen from my family. I signed up for a membership with my wife and my 5 month old son. Right after I signed up, they told me I am unable to work out with my son in the gym. My wife and I dont have access to a babysitter, so we asked to cancel the membership immediately and get a refund. The woman that signed me up for the membership said okay no problem we will cancel the membership and refund you. I was never refunded and my membership was never cancelled I found out. I was charged again for a membership and not refunded. I called them to sort this out. I spoke to the manager female. I was told I was going to be refunded again and cancel the membership. They failed to do so again. So I called once again and spoke to another woman and she said she will call me back and let me know after she speaks to her manager. I was never called back and I have lost over 60 dollars to this company without even working out once. Terrible company and if this is what I have to do to get my money back thats fine. I will remove this review if I am refunded the full amount.

The gym itself is nice, both locations actually. But the staff is what eventually made me cancel. I initially joined when they first opened, & was given the top-tier package, but pay the middle fee level as an opening special. Somewhere along the way, my membership level was changed to the middle tier to match what I was paying. Then I was told by the Concord manager that I NEVER had that setup unless I was an officer, firefighter, etc. And since I wasn't using the top-tier benefits, what was I complaining about? Was told that I was remembering things wrong, & by explaining my POV, I was just asking to get dropped to the lowest level tier membership, or to be cancelled entirely. As if staying at the middle tier (& paying for it) wasn't an option. I declined both offered options, and kept the middle tier.
One day I went in to tan using the stand up bed (as I had been avoiding due to it being broken), and noticed the buttons were finally fixed. Previously, one had to wait for the 5 min tier to end so the bed would turn on by itself instead of being to activate it when one was ready to get started. No one had mentioned the bed was fixed, & when I asked the front desk about it, apparently it had been fixed for months. As if I should have just "known" that. Good to know.
So when I decided to cancel, the payment had just pulled from my account a few days prior, but was told (after cancellation was completed) that I wouldn't be allowed to come back in to finish using the rest of the membership regardless of when the last payment came out. When I asked about it, 2 front desk attendants agreed that I'd no longer be able to enter the facilities. But when I checked my email for the cancellation notice, it clearly states: "I hereby give my written notice as of the above date to Xist Fitness to terminate my monthly auto debit. I understand that I retain the right to use my membership until the date of expiration arrives. I will retain a copy of this form for my records, as it serves as my proof of the cancellation." Why wouldn't I be able to finish out what I've already paid for??

Wouldn’t recommend this Gym to anyone. The actual gym and equipment is nice but it doesn’t outweigh the staff. Day 1 and i have proof of this. Went in for 2 memberships and was talked into doing an upgraded single so we both could go. Was sold on it bc the guest access and the hydro massage. Girl at the desk talked it up. Got me sign the paperwork and pay of course and then tells me 2 mins after that it’s broken. I told her it was unprofessional to sell someone on something broke. Ever since then it’s been an issue when we come in. Tells me tonight she watches my checks ins and i’m bringing a guest past hours i was told were okay when i signed up.Signed up to lose weight gain from recovering from cancer treatment and i feel talked down to here. Don’t be ADA and come here if you don’t wanna deal with judgey rude girls.

I cancelled my membership here over a year ago, came back several months probably almost a year later. I was not charged for the months that I did not have a membership. Now here we are several months after signing back up. I spoke to someone on 6/12/23 about getting a charge of over 80$ for no reason. They said that I was double charged the annual fee, but they could not do anything about this, they would need a manager to fix it. I was told they would have a manager call me back the next day or so. Here we are on 6/22/23 I had to call them 10 days later because I still hadn’t received a call back. Spoke to the manager finally today, I must say this person likely should not be a manager for any business because her ability to resolve problems and see the bigger picture is non existent. I explained that it wasn’t possible for me to get charged for last year’s annual fee because I didn’t even have an account at that time. I wasn’t being billed for it because it was cancelled. I saw another review of how bad xists records are because a person was charged several months due to xist having no record of them cancelling. I believe they did cancel because I’m having the same experience now. I’m confused how I could not be billed for the account and not have an active account and then suddenly they have no record of me cancelling? Then suddenly getting 2 annual charges. I mentioned to the manager as a final chance to realize how ridiculous she was being, is it worth pissing off a customer and losing more than just my business over basically a 40$ charge, especially when they can clearly see I should not be charged for an annual fee when I was not a member at the time. She proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t care if we cancel or not. My final words to her were well you’ve really shown me how xist handles issues when they arise. So xist and any future customers of xist remember they would rather alienate a customer over $40 that they would make off of you in 3-4 month not including the fact they charge you that yearly fee anyway, rather than admit when they are wrong, solve a problem and make their $144 a year off you plus a 40$ annual fee.
Ps the annual fee is stupid anyway it comes out to an extra $3.33 per month if you divid the 40$ over 12 months. Why not just charge 15-16$ for the membership and forget the annual fee. It would literally be easier and eliminate issues like this before they would have a chance to arise.

If you're new to Arnold or surrounding area and looking for a gym to join look no further! I came from a small town in Illinois and absolutely loved the gym I came from. When I moved to STL area and then to Arnold I struggled to find a gym where I felt comfortable and encouraged. Working out felt more like a chore and hassle than something I looked forward to and enjoyed doing. I tried Planet Fitness, Club Fitness, etc. Those gyms are too big for me. Xist is more like a community. From the moment I walked in and was greeted I felt right at "home". The friendly staff, events and challenges they hold periodically, and classes I have finally found everything I missed about my small town gym back in Illinois. Although popular, it is never overly crowded and I never feel intimidated during my work outs.

I was perfectly happy with my gym that I’ve been going to for years until I showed up on a Super Bowl Sunday. They have 1 sign posted stating they will be closed at 5PM due to a sports broadcasting….website and everything else states normal 8PM closing…come on man.

This is a very good gym! Plenty of equipment, a separate room for additional things like ropes, bosu balls, kettle bells, etc., a spinning room, plenty of tannings beds if you're into that, a red light therapy booth for your skin health (yes!), a dry sauna, and a hydrotherapy bed for your joints and muscles...all free additions!! They also have classes that kick butt. The staff is friendly and helpful. Love the place!

I've been waiting 2 weeks for them refund fraudulent charges on my credit card. Someone was using my gym account to help themselves to free beverages. I've talked to 2 employees to have it corrected and Brittany the manager. Now I have a note for the GM to call me. Very frustrating this hasn't been corrected immediately.

I have been going to Xist for 3 years and out of the numerous gyms I have went to, this gym is by far my favorite. The staff are always super friendly and build relationships with their members. The upkeep of the gym is always well taken care of, they do monitor the equipment to make sure everything is in order and functioning properly. Tanning beds are nice. They also have a wide variety of machines and offer classes that are awesome! Let's not forget the atmosphere is always pleasant too. If you're not going here, why not?!

My husband and I have been trying to cancel our membership and they will not let us. We tried calling and came up in person. They want us to pay them for a month of service that we will not be using. We have never gone there since we signed up and we are not going to. This to me is taking advantage of us and fraud. We have had to close our cards due to their poor quality of customer service.

Do to work/school schedule I have to go during the peak times (4-6 pm time frame). Can be hard to get a certain machine or rack/bench for squats or bench press but you just learn to switch up the order of workouts or substitute in other exercises when something isn’t available. Overall great place, everyone’s kind and respectful, and for the price, a solid place to lift.

One of the reasons I keep my membership at the gym is so I can utilize the spray tan booth. The one at the Arnold location is always breaking down. It's been down for a couple weeks now, forcing me to drive further to the concord location and now theirs is down too. It's frustrating to pay a membership for something and you can't get what you paid for. They take no priority in fixing things when they are broken. The same goes for machines. Those will be broken for weeks as well.

I have belong to this gym for a very long time, I got really sick and major surgery and its been 2 1/2 yrs, I came back but I am disabled now, this was very hard for me to go back because I am now in a walker. I called before I joined back to ask for their help with the doors in and out, the girls help me with that. I am kinda disappointed that your handicap parking is so far from the entrance and that your doors are not handicap friendly. Before I got sick I nvr even thought about this stuff now I have to, thank goodness for the kindness of the staff to help me otherwise I wld have nvr have been able to join again. Please chk into this and some of ur equipment , disabled people deserve to be happy and exercise too.

Overall, meh. I've been going to this gym for a few years and over time have noticed that it has a few problems.
The space is not very well utilized (at least at the Arnold location). When a class is going on there is virtually no space for patrons to stretch or do mat-based exercises. From what I understand, there used to be a separate room for classes but the gym prioritized childcare rather than exercise space.
The gym could also benefit from better cleaning. In the space where classes take place I will often find a lot of grime and dirt while I stretch or do exercises. I see this consistently. It almost seems like the space isn't mopped regularly or something.
Equipment also isn't updated frequently, I haven't seen or noticed new equipment in awhile personally
Where Xist really excels is the price, I can't deny that I do get a lot for what I pay...but improvements could definitely be made. My university gym is better than this one and I go to a relatively small university.

A friend suggested them so I tried them out. They have a $10.00 plan but I went with the $20.00 a month plan bc I can bring a guest whenever I want and tanning beds included with that price. They have a good amount of weight/exercise machines. Wish they had a few more free weights but can't have it all for what they charge. Staff is super friendly and the other members seem nice as well. I would definitely recommend Xist Fitness.

Wow best experience ever had with a gym they treated me with so much care. They made sure I was doing my exercises safely. They work hard on cleaning the places and they move very quickly to get people processed. The staff tonight was so nice and understanding. I will recommend all of my gym friends to move over to this gym over here. The price is great. Again the staff work so hard and we see it compared to other gyms in the area.

It’s one of the worst customer service I have ever encountered!! They are a total fraud! They promise you something until they sign you up and right away you will find out that they have no idea what they are talking about! They charged me twice within 15 days even though on the second day of the membership I asked for refund and cancellation! They kept promising that they will get back to me after they had emailed that corporate! Never received a call back and so far I have been charge over $60 within 15 days! Please don’t waste your money and time!!

first off , most of the time i came here the staff was unprofessionally rude. there was also hidden annual fees that they didn’t state whenever i signed up for this gym, it’s often very crowded, and beware of the consistent car break ins happening here. my car got broken into, and the person working told me and the officer to come back the next day because they were about to close. and they never gave me a call back to follow up on the situation.

I’ve been a member since the Arnold location opened at least six years ago, and it has consistently been well run. The entire facility is continually cleaned and the equipment is well kept and repaired in a timely manner. I feel blessed to be in close proximity to a fitness center that exemplifies excellence!

Great experience, I joined with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago. Had previously had a membership with Club Fitness. Even though this location isn't 24 hours their operating hours fit most schedules so you aren't forced into paying a higher membership fee each month to be able to workout. Annual fees were mentioned when I signed up but no mention of a cancellation fee and no contract. So far my only complaint would be that the free weights go up by five pounds instead of by two and a half like at club fitness but that is just a small matter, everything else has been great.

Please be aware of hidden charges. They are very good at charging for additional costs. They didn’t state about annual membership charges in their website but they charge that kind of costs too.
If you wanna refund any kind of payment, they won’t do that even for a fair reason.
Also they are not customer friendly people since if we have to cancel our membership we can’t do that through a phone call or online. Instead of that we have to meet them physically.

So I really enjoy the gym and the staff is great, however, recently they’ve started closing off the additional room where yoga and such is done at around 9:30-9:45 to mop. I feel if the gym is open to the public until 11pm then areas shouldn’t be restricted until then. Obviously, there are the exceptions for the classes held in there, but closing it early and then reopening it to the public with wet floors is an inconvenience and causes safety hazards as the floors are wet. Usually, there are no wet floor signs.

The best membership packages of any gym I've committed to. You can tan, lift, cardio, sauna, shower and take advantage of the daycare for a very reasonable price. This takes care of most of your bodily maintenance needs at one stop. Staff is well mannered and efficient. No qualms.

My only complaint about this location is it isn't 24 hours. I wouldn't dock a star for it though as the other location is, and this place does have long hours (closes at 10PM on weekdays and 8PM on weekends). Plenty of equipment, nice staff, incredible membership, there are locker rooms, sauna, daycare, and they have exercise classes.
